@Duckling: That's a pretty neat strategy he shared with you! I've heard so many things but never knew if any of them worked. I'm just glad you were able to pass your 3-hour! Did you feel okay after drinking the Glucola this time?
@LaurelMae: I hope your appointment goes well! I bet it will. What was your reason for switching? My irritable uterus cramping has become fairly defined contractions, and at my appointment this morning they told me I should have called when they were 7-8 minutes apart. Oops. So they told me to call when they go on for more than an hour. I'm actually pretty confused about when to call because I've been having contractions for so long now...when are you supposed to call?
eggplant / 11408 posts
@spaniellove: jumping in to say that up until 36 weeks or so, I was supposed to call if I had more than 4-5 in an hour. Now, though, I have exactly zero idea when to call, because their pattern and duration seem to mimic labor, but I'm not in labor, so....yeah. I have nothing. Just wanted to tell you you're in good company
honeydew / 7916 posts
@LovelyPlum: Pulling out my calculator...8 minutes apart for an hour makes around 7 an hour? I've heard the talk so many times about "drink water, lie down, empty your bladder" and I know that routine! I'm just afraid to call ever because I've been contracting and as far as I know baby is still in there.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@spaniellove: right. That's kinda why I've stopped calling about these-it just happens all the time, so it's my status quo. I think my new stance is to call when something feels different or off from what has been my prevailing pattern. So, if they get more intense, or if they get closer together, etc, or if baby stops moving as much. Maybe that could work for you, too?
honeydew / 7916 posts
@LovelyPlum: Yeah, I think it becomes so routine that you can feel when something changes!

@spaniellove: so sorry to hear you are still contracting that much :(. Are you doing ok on bed rest? Are you still working? I am sorry. I've been so absent but I've been thinking about you & all my June mamas!
pear / 1786 posts
@Duckling: yay for passing your glucose test!!! How are your check- ups on baby going? Hoping all is looking better !
honeydew / 7916 posts
@kentuckygirl: It's always good to see you around! This whole thing is only sort of predictable so I try not to lie around too much, since that can only get depressing and uncomfortable. It helps to know that things may get better and then worse and at some point I may end up back in triage...until then I'm not going looking for trouble by timing contractions unless I'm in a lot of pain! Actually I used to WAH and stopped just before getting pregnant so that is one thing off my plate. How are you, besides busy?
STMs - after packing my bag, I don't think there's anything in it! Is this being naive or practical? Did you use the things you packed the first time around?
pear / 1786 posts
@spaniellove: I knew you used to WAH, but it is great that you haven't had to worry about work during this time! Are you on strict bedrest or do you just take it day by day, based on how you are feeling?
I have made a list for my hospital bag & purchased a few items tonight. I was thinking I might start putting it in a suitcase rather than put it away and then have to get it back out in a few weeks. Glad I am not the only one working on it so early!
I have also been gathering nursing and post-partum care items. Since DH hasn't been able to work on the nursery, I am trying to find other things I can do that are in my control.

Hi June moms! Not much going on here, so I haven't had much to add. I just had another appt this week with my dietician, perinatologist and OB and everything looks good. They estimate the baby at 3lbs9oz which is right on track and really good for a GD baby. My OB is still really supportive of a VBAC and I have started acupuncture to support low blood sugar, low blood pressure and we will do some of the labor prep as my due date gets closer.
I'm starting weekly non-stress tests next week. I'm only 2 weeks away from the point when I delivered J so we are really getting to a point where everyone wants to do more monitoring and catch anything as soon as we can.
My "sprinkle" is next week and I just ordered a new glider today. I don't think we will do a new nursery for the baby, but rather keep the nursery as it is and do a big boy room for J closer to the end of the summer when he is ready to be out of the crib and the baby is ready to move out of our room.
@spaniellove: I never got around to packing a bag last time and instead had to give hubs a list of things I needed from home. With that experience, you could get by with very little if you think your bag is light. I didn't even have another change of clothes and stayed in the hospital gown the whole time and just added a lightweight bathrobe. After care things like pads and even pumping supplies I got from the hospital so I didn't need that. We also got a ton of baby stuff too - diapers, pacis, blankets, hats. My SIL bought a preemie outfit to take him home in. Definitely bring an extra bag to take home freebies. We had 2-3 plastic bags of stuff the hospital gave us. If you are particular about what you want you and the baby to wear, then pack a little more. And then send hubs home to get whatever you forget.
@LaurelMae: I think I'm having maybe some Braxton hicks? I never went into labor so I really don't know. When I take walks around the neighborhood, I feel a little "tight" but as long as I go slow and when I stop walking or drink some water, I loosen up.
Hope everyone is doing well! We're getting close!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@kentuckygirl: It was always modified bed rest, but these days I'm getting better about playing it by ear according to how many contractions I'm having. Really, accepting that whatever happens happens has been helpful! I could very well make it to 41 weeks but if something happens early I'll just deal with it.
@BabyBruins: Remind me again why J was born early? Do they think the same thing could happen again? If you think you're having BH when you walk around, it may be the activity that's triggering them. You might find it helpful to drink a lot of water and even lie on your left side if needed!
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: I had pre-eclampsia/HELLP. I thought I had food poisoning but I got in and my blood pressure was really high and there was protein in my urine. I'm at an increased risk again for pre-e because of my history, the GD and the fact that I had early pre-e. I'm taking a baby aspirin daily as a precaution and its another reason we are starting the NSTs early. I'm hoping that yoga, not working anymore and acupuncture will help keep my blood pressure down. Another good sign is that I have gained less weight than at the same point with J and I still have my rings on! I had to take my engagement ring off at 24 weeks last time!
I am much more active this pregnancy and I hope that I don't have to stop walking or stop yoga. It helps with my blood sugar and my sanity (J and I can NOT stay in the house all day). As I said, it only feels a little tight and not "rock solid" as my OB described it and if I go slow, drink water or stop, I loosen up again.

I totally forgot! I try to post on Mondays looking for check ins - not sure if anyone has noticed.
So...how is everyone?
1) How is your nursery coming along?
2) What do you have left to do?
3) What are you feeling these days, physically?
4) How many weeks are you?
Bonus: post a photo of something, anything!

Hi there ladies!
A work trip last week really wore me down and I am home sick today. I decided since I'd be home all day, I could at least get some baby clothes washed. Even though I don't have much yet, it feels really good to have them folded, sorted and put away by size. I really want to pick out some clothes for the baby myself but shopping when you're team green is hard - there are not too many gender neutral options out there.
Over the weekend we made a trip to Ikea and got a few last things for the nursery - it is coming together There is still a lot of clutter in the room but I will share some pictures soon!
I can't believe it will be June in 46 days!!!
Any new news from the June mamas?
nectarine / 2878 posts
Sorry I have been so inactive lately! We just got back from a short trip to Mexico (our last vacay as a family of 3!!)
1) How is your nursery coming along? We are making progress: painted, crib put together, curtains hung.
2) What do you have left to do? Find crib sheets and rocker.
3) What are you feeling these days, physically? Feeling rather large and in charge! Having BH every day but not consistent. 3rd trimester nausea has kicked in, especially at night.
4) How many weeks are you? 31 weeks!
Bonus: 30 week bump shot! Brothers are already cuddling

To answer the check-in questions:
a) Nursery: We are moving when Baby is approx. 2 months old, so no nursery nesting yet. Just a lot of packing...
b) To Do: We have to tour our hospital (this week), purchase a pump (can't order on insurance until 2 weeks prior to due date), and secure a pediatrician.
c) How I Feel: In the last 24 hrs, I have developed a red, itchy rash on my belly. I have a suspicion that it's PUPPS even though it's not raised (looks/feels more like a sunburn rash). I have a sinking feeling that they'll make me take weekly blood tests when I tell them. (I'm at risk for liver issues.)
d) How Far Along: 32 weeks
@spaniellove The glucola didn't make me nearly as sick this time. Baby's been officially removed from his growth restriction diagnosis (!) this week too. I hope your contractions have remained bearable and that you aren't seeing any signs of preterm labor!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Duckling: Hope it's not PUPPS, you really don't need one more thing to deal with. But I am glad to hear that baby is growing! My contractions haven't been as bad this past week - I haven't felt the need to time them, which is good.
@lilyann: Love love your photo! Mexico sounds like it must have been a great trip, and you squeezed it in just in time!
@CakeLady: Are you feeling any better? It is nice to get things washed and put away. And yes, gender neutral clothing is tough! Even knowing the sex I get frustrated that everything has to be blue puppy dogs or pink tutus or yellow ducks. There is a stylish middle ground! Like in @lilyann: 's photo!

Sorry for the double post above! I can't seem to edit it.
1) How is your nursery coming along? Mostly done, just minor things left to do...tonight we're putting in a closet system, tomorrow DH is painting the trim. At some point I need to attach blackout liner and grommets to the curtains and hang them.
2) What do you have left to do? Figure out how to order a pump, tour the hospital Monday, and install the car seat at some point.
3) What are you feeling these days, physically? Nausea is back!
4) How many weeks are you? 32 weeks

We've been busy with life around here these past two weeks…..
@spaniellove - I had to switch docs because my last OB decided that she was no longer going to do hospital births. I met with my new one about a week ago. So far, we feel very comfortable with her. We want to try for another natural birth and she seems very on board with that.
In other news, I passed my glucose test….but the blood work showed signs of anemia so integrating more iron-rich foods is on the agenda. My husband is advocating for daily steaks. We eat a diet fairly rich in iron so I'm looking into the highest iron-rich foods I can. Turns out raisins and prunes are high in iron -- who knew? Also found out eating citrus alongside iron-rich foods help with absorption so lots of oj too!
To answer the check-in questions:
1) Nursery is the same. I still need to transition my 17 month old to another bed so we can use the pack n play for #2. I think she is ready but we need to find a bed….
2) My to-do list seems to only get longer, never shorter. I have a few sewing projects that I want to complete for #1 before baby comes. Also, would like to get a few frozen meals in the freezer and choose a wrap for #2 so I can easily chase #1 and have both hands free!
3) I am not feeling the greatest physically. I have issues with varicose veins which are getting worse by the day. I ordered myself a support band today which will, hopefully, move some of the increasing weight off of my veins. Lots of standing and baking over the weekend seemed to really aggravate things. Anyone else have this issue? (And remedies?)
4) 30 weeks!
I don't have any decent photos on this computer so maybe next time!
Some of you early June mamas are getting close to the month countdown!!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@LaurelMae: Yay for passing that glucose test! I apparently have anemia too and am guessing it's because I developed an aversion to meat and pretty much anything that has iron. But we started keeping prunes around, and you probably know that it comes with a bonus. My OB prescribed an iron supplement but I just take New Chapter.
I hope the support band helps! I think there are also pregnancy compression leggings and socks - Preggers makes leggings. Actually, if someone is on the smaller side, I have a pair of grey Preggers leggings that I never got to wear because I ordered a Medium instead of Large and I'd be happy to send them!

@spaniellove: I am finally starting to feel better, thanks for checking in!
Feeling pretty good because it seems like our to-do list is finally getting a little shorter.
Yesterday we found a pediatrician we love - we were planning to visit another one in a few weeks since I am all about comparison shopping - but DH and I liked the one we met so much, and we had a recco from a friend, that we decided to be done with the search. We also have a painter coming this week to the the last area of the house that we haven't repainted.
Still want to get the car detailed, need to pack my hospital bag and put in some more time on finding a nanny. Our plan is to do a nanny share with another family that lives just a few blocks away.
It sounds like I'm not alone in getting more uncomfortable - @Duckling: @LaurelMae: sorry to hear about the itchy bellies and varicose veins! I should probably get some compression socks too - my feet are SO swollen. Not cute in sandals!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@CakeLady: It feels so good to check another thing off the list!
Had my OB appt this morning (32 weeks) and they decided to have me start coming in every week because there are just too many high-risk issues. They also put in a request to have the MFM see me earlier than a week from now.
Last week my neuro said no to my natural birth plan and said I need the continuous monitoring and the IV and the pain meds because of the seizures. Well, poop. Last night I got a phone call telling me my blood levels of seizure meds were down to virtually 0 so they were raising my dosage. Can't wait till this is all over!

@spaniellove Oh dear. If it's any comfort, my favorite doctors are my FM doctors. Seriously. I'm going to miss them a lot if I am told that I'm home free during our 34-week appointment. Hang in there! You have seven or eight more weeks!
My rash has backpedaled a lot in the last 24 hours, so I'm beginning to think it was a heat rash or perhaps just skin stress? (Is that a thing?) I'm much less worried now. Whew. Thanks for all the kind thoughts.
These BH's are hitting me fast and furious in Week 33. Anyone else feeling them frequently? They take my breath away, but as long as they don't turn into something serious, I'm good with it.
Since I've not been so good at adding cheer to the board, I just thought I'd tell you the story my friend told me about their stay in the NICU last night (their baby was born at 31 weeks!). One of the infants was crying throughout the night and my friend heard a male voice singing to the baby in the wee hours of the morning. They assumed it was the baby's father, but when they peeked in the ward, they saw that it was one of the NICU doctors. Aaaaaaand cue the pregnancy hormones...yeah, I cried a little.

Hi Everyone! It makes me happy to see everyone checking in! We are all in the home stretch and I'm sure we are all looking forward to meeting our LOs. I know I am definitely counting the days. I had an appointment last week at 32 weeks, although I've been super uncomfortable I guess there wasn't anything that the midwife was concerned about so thats good. I've posted my answers to the check-in questions below.
1) How is your nursery coming along? We aren't really working on a nursery just having a corner of our room dedicated to our baby boy. We live in an apartment right now and while we have ample space, we plan on moving to a more permanent place in a less than 2 years when we have to relocate for DH's work so we figure it would be better to invest in a big boy room for LO instead. We do have his crib and dresser etc. all ready for our boy when he decides to make his appearance.
2) What do you have left to do? Buy a car seat! We have a small back seat so I'm thinking this will be a difficult task. If anyone has any suggestions that I can look into that would be great!
3) What are you feeling these days, physically? I feel huge and everyone comments on how big my stomach is in proportion to the rest of my body :(. I've been experiencing horrible nausea and indigestion that keeps me up all night it feels like the first trimester all over again...Thank goodness there are only a few weeks left...I think I can hang in there.
4) How many weeks are you? 33 weeks!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Duckling: In a way I do hope you are done with the MFM because that would mean everything is going really well!
@Matcha Latte: We tried a bunch of infant seats in DH's tiny back seat car and found that the Chicco Keyfit and Cybex Aton both work! It seemed to depend on the fit between the car's seat depth/curve and the bucket seat bottom so I would definitely try a store like Buy Buy Baby (or maybe BRU?) that will take the seats out to your car to check the fit. Also car-seat.org was a great resource for looking up a particular car + seat. Of course, in the end we decided that LO may never be in that car so we'll just use our bigger car seat without a base.

Hello again. I've been MIA for a while now, but all is good. Honestly, I was just too lazy to log in on my phone. Oops. As for the check-in questions:
1) How is your nursery coming along?
Good! We moved in the last month and things were on hold until then, but we have the room painted, the crib and Expedit assembled, the recliner purchased, and the dresser/changing table in the room. I still need to touch up paint in the corners, clean up the dresser, fasten the furniture to the walls, move the recliner into the room, hang art, see the valance and crib skirt, and hang the curtains. Oh, and my husband has to install a closet rod. Then it's ready to go! Realistically, we could complete it in 1-2 days if we had to.
2) What do you have left to do?
In addition to the above, I need to call my insurance about the breast pump, get that ordered, wash the baby clothes and blankets, prep the bottles, install the car seat bases, break in the woven wrap, and finish obtaining the rest of the gear and supplies we need. Our shower is this weekend and our registry completion discount is active starting next week, so I can move on that soon. I also need to finish unpacking and organizing the house.
3) What are you feeling these days, physically?
Slow. Unwieldy. I've developed pelvic pain and have to limit the amount I do each day if I want to be able to sleep at all at night. Heartburn is constant and nausea comes and goes (mostly if I get too hungry and I am hungry ALL THE TIME). My ribs, back, and hips all hurt all the time which makes it hard to get comfortable. BUT, other than that, I really feel pretty decent. Definitely doable for the prize at the end.
4) How many weeks are you?
34. She is scheduled to arrive at 39 weeks, so only five short weeks to go.

Hi Guys!
I've been checking in and keeping up with the posts but haven't been writing anything hehe ! Glad to see everyone is well! @spaniellove: Sorry you have been having some dramas - The end is in sight which must be really nice for you!
1) How is your nursery coming along?
Nursery is pretty much done! Yay! I've attached some pics - let me know what you all think!
2) What do you have left to do?
Buy a car! Agh!! Went baby seat shopping last week and nothing fits in our hatch back It was a bit of a shock but now we are just excited to be getting a new car and to be able to justify it lol! Still need to buy a change mat and a bath and a few other things.
Dumb question - Is a breast pump needed or is just for if you are leaving the baby at home with hubby etc? I would like to do this hehe so maybe I should be getting one?
I've started packing my hospital bag too and I'm going to wash some clothes for baby this week - exciting! I googled what to pack in my hospital bag and found heaps of handy tips.
3) What are you feeling these days, physically?
Not too bad - getting up to pee so much in the night though!! Sometimes 7 times in one night!!! Anyone else getting up so much?
Apart from that just starting to feel a bit big and gumby haha! Looking forward to having my body back now!
Pregnancy yoga has been awesome though and I feel the difference in my body if I miss a class!
4) How many weeks are you?
I'm 34.5 weeks so not long to go!!

@spaniellove: I got my Caroline bag this weekend. I'm glad I decided on it. I used it as a laptop bag today, but will probably start using it for J's stuff now and add baby's soon.
I love that I took it to Starbucks to work on something and didn't feel like I was carrying a diaper bag. Just what I wanted!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: Yay! So glad you are loving it! Maybe you can tell me how you're packing that bag because I've tried putting baby things in it and am getting frustrated - there can never be enough interior pockets for me! I hate rummaging through a bag. Is there a trick to having a super organized baby bag or are you just doomed to having things all over the place once you become a mom?

I finally remembered that today is Monday! Let's check in!
1) How many weeks are you?
2) How are you sleeping?
3) Where is baby going to sleep in the beginning?
And what else is going on?
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: I think it takes a while to figure out your packing system. I think a new bigger bag made me pack much more stuff than I needed for my lunch with girlfriends (and J) yesterday, but I'm glad I had it all and J was soooo well behaved the other day as I pulled out crayons and paper and grapes and a sandwich and his water and then his milk.
I would suggest figuring out how to store YOUR stuff(wallet, keys, phone, etc) and keep that the same bc that is what you will probably be reaching for the most. And then once baby comes you will also find what else you are getting out the most - pacis, burp cloth, wipes, etc - and get those in a good spot. And then everything else will go in there and change as baby changes. The first few trips out I totally forgot a change of clothes for J and he went home in a diaper and a blanket one day.
kiwi / 551 posts
I'll give an update!
1) How many weeks are you? - 33 weeks 6 days. Today is the day I had J during his pregnancy, so tomorrow I will be more pregnant than I have ever been. I'm feeling good and happy that I have weekly monitoring now so we can catch if my blood pressure goes high. It happened so suddenly with J so I'm trying to keep tabs on how my rings are fitting, how my stomach and head feel and if something feels really off, I'll take my BP. But I have been putting off doing much until we get past this milestone bc I didn't want to acknowledge that this baby could come as early as J. But after this point I feel like he could come at any time. Hopefully, all of my early paranoia will lead to a due date delivery.
2) How are you sleeping? - Better lately. I still start out propped up and move to my left side about half way through the night. My right side is the worst for my back so I try to avoid it. I'm getting so sleepy during the day and want to take an afternoon nap, but have so much to do that I usually end up dozing off while hubs and I are watching TV at night....at 8:00.
3) Where is baby going to sleep in the beginning? - I borrowed my sister's co-sleeper and we are planning to keep the baby in our room for most of the summer I think. J is still in the crib so we'll transition him out in Aug/Sept and move the baby into his room. Probably around when we do sleep training (around 16 weeks).
We are getting so close to full term! As someone who didn't get there last time, this is exciting for me! Although I have NO idea what it is like to be super pregnant. I'll take whatever to avoid another preemie though. Good luck this week everyone!
pear / 1657 posts
Happy Monday gals!
1) How many weeks are you? - 32 weeks today! My C-section is scheduled for exactly 5 weeks from today.
2) How are you sleeping? - Generally not so well , though it varies from night to night. Last night I was kinda uncomfortable and tossed and turned a lot. Then I woke up at 4am and was WIDE awake. I finally fell back to sleep but I could not get out of bed this morning. I have been shifting between sleeping sitting up in bed and laying down on both sides. I can't wait to sleep on my back again!
3) Where is baby going to sleep in the beginning? - We have a Nuna Sena that will go next to the bed in our room for the first couple of months. We'll use that for nighttime sleeping but I was thinking about doing some naps in the crib in the nursery right away just so LO gets used to it. Is that a normal thing to do?
And what else is going on?
We did a breastfeeding class at the hospital this weekend which had a lot of great info. It gave me more confidence but also reinforced how challenging it can be. We have an ultrasound on Thursday to see growth and position, I'm very excited to see baby. I also met my dear friend's 3 week old son yesterday which was such a treat. They are first time parents as well and it was reassuring to see that they were getting the hang of things.
honeydew / 7916 posts
1) How many weeks are you? 33 weeks 3 days
2) How are you sleeping? Surprisingly well! I dread waking up and having to go to the bathroom though because that's when the pain and swelling are the worst. I have to go through the whole ritual of keeping my legs together, rolling my legs over, rolling my torso over, pushing myself into a sitting position, and then slooowly standing. Then hobbling to the bathroom.
3) Where is baby going to sleep in the beginning? Same as @CakeLady: we have a Nuna Sena that will be next to the bed. During the day I think I'll use the bassinet from the stroller and maybe alternate with some naps in the crib, but I don't know either if that's just way too confusing!
Went to Triage last Friday and cervix is closed but baby is way low! We go back to the MFM this Wednesday for a growth scan to find out how big he is and whether my low-lying placenta is finally gone or if I need that c-section after all.

I feel so behind, both on baby prep & this thread! Here is my update:
1) I am 34.5 weeks and feeling so unprepared for baby to be here. Hubby hasn't had time to install the bead board panelling so our nursery is not anywhere near done. Which is okay since he won't sleep there for a while but bad because nothing is organized. That makes me feel like I may not have what we need & not even know it!
2) I usually sleep well for about 3 hours, then I am restless & get up to use the bathroom about every hour. Frequently I don't fall back to sleep for a long time after at least one of these wake-ups.
3) baby is going to sleep in the Pack N Play in our room for a while.
Had my first weekly Biophysical Profile for baby on Thursday and everything looks good. I am pretty sure I've had some Braxton Hicks but I am not dilated. Baby is estimated at 5 lbs 13 oz.
Does everyone have a name chosen (or names for team green)? I think we have decided but I still feel uncertain.
