June 2014 mamas!

    1) 34w6d
    2) little bit of nausea (but that could be my BP) and sore boobs - I noticed my first bit of leaking last week, too. Fortunately, I got my H&M shipment of nursing bras and nursing tanks last week.
    3) I love my new diaper bag - Caroline Storksak - and I just ordered the Kiinde twist system off babysteals the other day. I pumped a lot with J and I never figured out a "system". I'm hoping that staying home this time, I won't have to pump as much, but I would still like to pump a bit (got a free pump from insurance so I might as well) and get Dad involved in some night feedings. He did a lot with J and the dreamfeed was "his" feeding and I would pump while he was in doing that. I like that with the Kiinde, you pump right into the bags and then you can attach a nipple and feed from the bag, too. The nipple is supposed to be "more like mom".
    4) Bed rest is going okay. My mom is coming up a lot which is nice and my babysitter started full time today. I'm getting some time to do stuff on my computer that I was putting off and that is nice, I'm not watching as much TV as I thought, but occassionally I'm with J on my own and the only thing we do is watch TV. So J is getting a lot more screen time, but our family really likes TV so it would be unrealistic that J doesn't watch TV. My babysitter is great and gets him out and running around, so I am grateful for that. I still miss yoga though....

    1) How far along are you?
    33w5d
    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back?
Sore nips but they aren't too bad. I think I have just gotten use to the nausea because I don't notice it that much.
    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby?
So far I am loving our double stroller (mountain buggy duet), it wasn't a gift but definitely a splurge!
    4) Anything else?
May is going to be a jam packed month so June will be here before I am ready! Heartburn is killing me at night and sleep is just so uncomfy. I wake up pretty stiff and my tailbone hurts so I am looking into getting a chiropractor soon!

    1) How far along are you?
    33 weeks today

    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back?
Starting to get a bit of nausea again and having to pee constantly. Mostly just unpleasant 3rd trimester symptoms though - sciatica, huge swollen feet by the end of the day, getting more tired by the day.

    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby?
This is a tough one, we've gotten so many lovely gifts. I am really excited about the glider my mom got us (Milo from Land of Nod), it is so incredibly comfy and beautiful! We also got a "Bath, Books, Bed" gift from a family friend with a hooded towel and some baby bath products, favorite books, swaddles and pacifiers. It was just such a thoughtful combo of things from our registry and things she loved as a new mom.

    4) Anything else?
Made some more progress on the nursery this weekend which was important because baby will be here 4 weeks from today! Eeeee!

Hey mommas! I've been terrible at keeping up to date on this thread but I do drop in to read up on everyone. We are all in single digit weeks at this point - how exciting!!!

    1) How far along are you? 32w1d
    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back? I started getting a bit of nausea and heartburn is back with a vengeance! Overall it's not too bad but now my new thing is I get short of breath when I lie down since baby likes to migrate into my rib cage into my lungs. I've been having to sleep elevated on 4 pillows at a high angle which lets me breath but I can't get into deep sleep.
    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby? We didn't buy it yet but I am looking forward to the second seat for our Britax B-Ready stroller! Also excited for some new bedding. I just realized we really haven't bought anything for #2 yet. Oops...
    4) Anything else? I am finally getting into nesting mode and washed all of DD's newborn/3-month clothing over the weekend! Next is setting up the closet organizer and putting it all away then putting together the bassinet. It's getting real!

@lilyann: @littleveesmommy: I am waiting until next week to get the City Select with the extra seat with the completion discount from Amazon. I am also hoping that my bro and SIL will let us borrow their double BOB since I don't think they use it anymore. That will bring our stroller total up to 4 (shakes head).
@CakeLady: The "Bath, Books and Bed" gift sounds so cool! That is our bedtime routine and such a sweet sentiment. I might steal that gift idea for future baby showers.

    1) How far along are you?
34w4d (going by the OB and MFM's date now, not the RE's original date)

    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back?
Had some nausea but I think it was the anemia. Also needing naps again!

    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby?
Like @BabyBruins: I am loving the Storksak Caroline! I finally tried stuffing everything in there and I think it has the perfect arrangement of pockets. If only I could find another bag from Storksak that has those pockets.
I'm also excited to put up another track system on the garage wall so I can hang the Cruz and Vista and BOB. SIL got us a G-Luxe that I think can sit in the basement for now.

    4) Anything else?
Not going to post any gross photos, but I think I might be losing parts of my mucus plug. It's...like thick EWCM and brown tinged? I've been on a serious organization and cleaning binge lately! I just keep thinking to myself, what if I go into labor tomorrow and my MIL has to come over to stay with our dog? (Which is the plan) What if she goes through everything to find what she needs? That is a great motivator!

@CakeLady: What exactly is your c-section date?

I think it's time to start adding stuff like this to our date list! What should we call that section?

@spaniellove: I your stroller collection. That is all

  9. CakeLady

    pear / 1657 posts

@BabyBruins: I'm totally planning to use that gift idea for friends in the future!

@spaniellove: c-section is schedule for June 2nd (at noon - it's a little weird to have a time!)

We could call the scheduled c-section/induction part of the list Planned birthdays or Baby days or Scheduled arrivals? I suspect someone else may have better ideas those...

  10. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@CakeLady: It is weird; mine is bright and early at 7:30! I like all your ideas and can't choose! Maybe someone else can chime in?

So the midwife said this morning that it is most likely the mucus plug I'm seeing, and they recommend an induction, not a c-section, now that they know about the placenta not being an issue anymore and IUGR taking its place. I forgot to ask about scheduling that of course, but I think that would be around the same time.

    1) How far along are you? 35 weeks 5 days

    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back? Definitely a little more exhaustion.

    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby? I really don't know. Maybe the Anywhere Chair, although baby won't use it for a while.

    4) Anything else? Holy swollen ankles! Today is awful I have had some minor issues with swelling but today it is at least twice as bad as any previous day.

I have been going for weekly Biophysical Profile ultrasounds. Baby boy is looking healthy and passing the BPP tests with flying colors. My Dr. did say last week she wouldn't let me go past my due date due to my age. She is the Dr. on call on June 3, so I will be induced that day if baby hasn't arrived by then. She offered that I could be induced up to 6 days before my due date, but I am certainly not in any hurry, would rather baby grow as much as he can.

Hope you all are doing well!!!

  13. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@kentuckygirl: So good to hear baby is doing well on the BPPs! Those swollen ankles can be so crazy. Has anything worked for you in terms of relief? I'm still deciding how I feel about the Anywhere Chair...someone wants to get us one but I'm afraid it could be a very nice dog bed until LO is able to use it.

@kentuckygirl: I know. I think it's no food after midnight the night before. I'll just have to have an 11:45pm snack and hope the surgery doesn't get pushed back. Perhaps the fasting will help me get a jumpstart on losing this baby weight

Bless you, @BabyBruins for your brilliant Monday update persistence. It's a great morale booster to see how everyone is doing.

    1) How far along are you? 35 weeks!
    2) Any 1st trimester symptoms coming back? Let's see--Nausea? Check. Appetite loss? Check. Frequent charley horses? Check. Incessant urination? CHECK, baby.
    3) What has been your favorite piece of baby gear/gift you have received for the new baby? Oh my. This is hard. Probably my City Mini stroller.
    4) Anything else? Braxton Hs.

Love to see all the updates! I've been MIA the past week or so as I've been nursing my poor husband back to health. He just finished up his Finals and a nasty bug hit. (This seems to happen to him almost every time he hits the end of a semester. :()

So many of you are getting super close to meeting your LO!!!

In answer to Monday's check-in questions:
    1) 32 w, 5 d (The app I have on my phone {I'm Expecting} had a glitch in its last update. It calculated me a week ahead so I spent about a week thinking I was a week farther along than I actually was. I didn't catch this, of course, until I embarrassingly tried to correct my OB as mommy brain thought something was up but couldn't handle the calculations to figure it out. :-P)
    2) Good ol' frequent urination and tiredness. And the pelvic pain, although it is worse now.
    3) I really haven't received anything yet for our new LO. I know that my mother will be purchasing a k'tan wrap for me and the LO, which I'm really excited about so that I can chase my toddler and carry the baby at the same time.
    4) We finally purchased a toddler bed for #1 so we'll be getting her in there by the end of the week after it is assembled. Then, I can start to get things rearranged to accommodate both of them (although #2 will be sleeping in our room for a while).

And Amen to the Braxton Hs, @duckling!

35 weeks and I just have nothing left...I've got monster hemorrhoids, some kind of angry swelling/pain externally around my lady bits, and on the other side irritation from the friction thanks to all the chafing. Every day I wonder if I should take my OB's advice and go in to triage because of the spotting that starts up again whenever I walk around. Just can't wait for this to be over!

  18. CakeLady

    pear / 1657 posts

@spaniellove: so sorry that you are so uncomfortable! It sounds absolutely miserable. Maybe if you go into triage they could at least give you something to soothe the swelling and pain down there. Hang in there! Sending hugs!

  19. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@CakeLady: Ugh, I think the swelling is just normal end of pregnancy stuff unfortunately! I broke out the postpartum stuff early though! The witch hazel, sprays, everything. I'd been thinking what a waste it might be if I ended up having a c-section, but I'm loving it all right now.

  20. kentuckygirl

    pear / 1786 posts

@spaniellove: I also have some painful swelling externally around my lady bits. I was wondering if bit was normal, so thanks for reassuring me but sorry you have it too.

Crazy to think baby will be here in about 3 weeks or less.

  21. spaniellove

@kentuckygirl: I have no dignity left between the googling I've had to do and the awkward waddle where I avoid having anything between my legs touch. I'm hoping that if I avoid thinking about a countdown and find something else to focus on, the time will go by faster!

  22. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@LaurelMae: I was going to reply to you earlier that I was baffled that no one had bought anything from our registries or sent anything either. And then a few days ago random gifts started showing up. So I think you just hit a point where people think it's finally appropriate?

  23. BabyBruins

    kiwi / 551 posts

@spaniellove: I'm so sorry that this final stretch is so uncomfortable. We are so close to the finish line and I promise it will be worth it when you have your little boy in your arms.

How do we all feel about some Monday check-in questions? I have nothing better to do....

    1) How far along are you?
    2) What are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant anymore?
    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant?
    4) Anything else?

  24. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@BabyBruins: I'm sure it couldn't be just me? Good news is my spray/witch hazel regiment took care of the irritation!

I'm also curious what is left on everyone's to-do list now that we all have about a month left, give or take?

  25. BabyBruins

    kiwi / 551 posts

    1) 35 weeks, 6 days
    2) Well, being off bed rest is going to be pretty nice and not having to restrict my diet anymore. I have been dying to try out Stitch Fix so I am setting a goal to be in good enough shape to get some new clothes by my birthday in September.
    3) I love feeling the baby move so I will miss that. Did any other second moms have phantom movement AFTER the baby was born? I remember sitting in my recovery room and still feeling movement after I had J. Weird. I am also really confident in my pregnant body. I am not usually a skinny girl, but not huge, but I love being able to show off my belly and have it be okay and wear tight shirts and not be self conscious about it.
    4) I know the whole point is not to have an early baby, but I am obsessed with figuring out ways to soften my cervix and start to dilate. My fear is that I will go to the doctor one day and she will say that my BP is too high and the baby needs to be born today and my only choice will be c-section. I didn't have a bad c-section experience last time and I will do what I need to for a healthy mom and baby, but I would really like to have another option. I would also really like to go into labor naturally. I totally missed out on the labor experience last time and even though I know it will be painful, I still want to experience it. Is that weird?

  26. BabyBruins

@spaniellove: I have a small to-do list that I try to tackle on Saturdays when my mom comes to help with J and give hubs a break.
We did a bunch of laundry this weekend so the baby will have clothes and I ordered his coming home outfit (and a matching PJ set for J ) We also washed all of the carriers (ergo, k'tan) and the car seat liner.
Speaking of the car seat.... we are using J's and it has been under the house since we moved him to a convertible (about 18 months ago). Hubs got it out and it was really dusty and dirty and the cushion pads RIGHT BY THE BABY'S FACE had mold. Fortunately, he hosed it off and we were able to do the sanitize setting on the liner and it looks really good now. I'm not putting the pads back on and I'm going to buy new ones instead. Put that on the list. But I'm glad we did that now and not "The baby's coming home today, can you be sure to get the car seat from under the house." Because hubs would have just brought it to the hospital right from under the house.
I want to set up the co-sleeper.
I need to repack my bag from hastily throwing a few things in when I thought I would have the baby 2 weeks ago.
I'm a little "whatever" about getting everything done. When J came, we had done nothing, we had nothing and everything turned out fine.
I have now switched into the mindset that I could have the baby soon, which I never got to with J and totally analyzing every feeling I have. Since I have already made it 2 weeks past when I had J, I feel like I could have the baby now and be fine, although I really would like to make it to 37 or 38 weeks. But all of this obsessing over it will probably mean that I make it all the way. Still, that is only 4 weeks away. WHICH IS INSANE!

    Love these Monday check-ins!

    1) How far along are you? 34 weeks today.
    2) What are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant anymore? Sleeping on my back! De-swelling! Getting back into my more rigorous diet and exercise routine (this may be the delusion of a first time parent.) And of course meeting this baby.
    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant? The excitement and anticipation and planning for baby.
    4) Anything else? This has been a tough week, DH has been out of town, so I've had to do a lot more with a lot less help. I am exhausted. I am also starting to feel really uncomfortable - when i stand up, baby is right on my bladder and he or she is totally beating me up in there. It's also gotten pretty warm here so my feet do not look like feet anymore - but I got a fun pedicure with gold polish this weekend anyway!

What's left on my to-do list:
Finishing touches on the nursery - frame and hang art, pick up glider.
Buy some of the things from my registry that we still need,
Get the car detailed and install the car seat.
Get a baby book - any recommendations?
Finish packing hospital bag (I'd say I'm 2/3 done).
Lots of chores planned for DH when he gets back too!

    1) How far along are you? 34 weeks 3 days
    2) What are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant anymore? Not peeing every 5 seconds, stuffiness (fighting a nasty sinus infection right now), ankle swelling and I can't wait to be able to sleep in any position I want again! Being able to walk farther than 1 mile without having to pee and being tired!
    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant? I'll miss feeling him kicking me, makes me smile everytime (even when it is uncomfortable)
    4) Anything else: Need to get started packing my bag, prepping for me to go into labor. With DD #1, we met the birthmom at the hospital so I didn't have to think about the labor, delivery, etc part at all, just how we were going to get her home. I've been pretty lax about it until now and am starting to have minor panic about the logistics of how it will all work (especially with a 15 month old at home). Tough to plan when you don't know how/when labor is going to start!! In the end, if he was born tomorrow we could bring him home and he'd have a place to sleep

I love reading everyone's updates and wish everyone the best in the last couple of weeks!!

So sorry guys for falling off the wagon. I've been trying to keep up with readying everything, but between work and my to do list at home, I've been super busy!

    1) How far along are you? 36 weeks

    2) What are you looking forward to most about NOT being pregnant anymore? Eating baked goods and ice cream and Starbucks and pretty much everything else I've given up because of the evil sugar content! And getting rid of my balloon animal feet hehe.

    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant? The hormonal push for productivity. I've gotten so much stuff done at home that I've put off FOREVER. Otherwise, not much, I'm ready to not be pregnant anymore.

    4) Anything else? Last week was a good week. My anal tendencies and love for charts and graphs paid off. My OB was so impressed with my GD tracking and numbers that she reduced my testing from 4x per day to 2x per day. Seems crazy, but it makes a huge difference in feeling not so locked down to eating and timing and counting etc.

    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant?
Nothing, I just want to move on!

    4) Anything else? I thought I was frustrated/ready to be done before, but now I know I've hit that point! I just don't want anyone around and every day DH looks at my elephant feet with a worried face. I keep telling him it's totally normal.

@MsBadger: How has the diabetes been going? Your numbers must be good if you only have to test twice a day. Hopefully it hasn't been as bad as you thought and I really believe that it helps the weight come off faster after delivery.
I have been doing okay especially since I can't work out anymore. My dietitian is happy with my numbers and since I'm not as active I'm not eating as much and my numbers are reflecting that. I splurged last night and had a cookie for mother's day and was fine after. All of my measurements have been on track and baby isn't looking too big so the GD hasn't had an effect on his size. He is already almost 1 lb bigger than J when he was born, but on track for gestational age.
It sounds like you are doing great. Keep up the good work.

    3) What will you MISS about being pregnant? Can't claim I will miss anything!

    4) Anything else? I'm wondering if I might be experiencing the early stages of pre-labor. BH contractions are picking up in regularity and intensity, and I continue to have increased discharge. I timed them this morning and they were anywhere from 5 to 12 minutes apart and between 30 and 55 seconds. We'll see!

    4) Anything else? Sorry I've been totally MIA...We've had a pretty crappy and busy last few months. Just kind of one bad thing after another really. But for now, things are going well...DD is sleeping through the night now, I am not, and we are ready to just have this baby already.

@BabyBruins: The diabetes has been going as well as can be expected. Your original rundown of meals and snacks was SUPER helpful and I've basically stuck with those same snacks ideas since then. My bright star everyday is that I can have a Outshine Fruit Popsicle before I go to bed, and my numbers seem to actually be better in the morning! It's my little treat at the end of the day Funny thing is, my husband is gluten intolerant and has been for about two years now. For the last two years, whenever he works the late shift over dinner I would order a real pizza. Well, the tables turned last week. I went to a friend's bridal fitting and came home to a box from our favorite pizza joint with a couple pieces of gluten free pizza left over.

@MsBadger: Thanks for the swelling sympathy! Luckily it didn't start until two weeks ago. But it looks so crazy. I've always had really thin ankles. And I still do. It just looks like someone inflated my foot right after the ankle!

OMG! My OB just called and cleared me to do 1 outing a day! She said I could go to yoga, but to take it easy and maybe only do sitting poses.
I've been sending her my BP log weekly and she is happy with my results and thinks that I have a case of white coat syndrome as I only get high readings at the doctor.
I think this news alone just lowered my blood pressure a couple of points. I don't want to go crazy, but I definitely see a pedicure and yoga in my future.
