@spaniellove: thanks for the info. My hcg was 80,000 yesterday which is normal for 7w3d. Not sure what to expect it to be in 48 hours but hopefully it increases. How lucky to get a bonus US and hear the heartbeat. So happy for you!
@Chastenet: thanks for the reassurance and commiserating on feeling uncertain. I did have a normal hcg today and now am just hoping it increases. If so, my US isn't scheduled until 12/4 so I still have some waiting and uncertainty ahead. I'm sure I'd still be nervous after hearing the heartbeat but the odds are so good at that point...have fun telling your family!

@spaniellove: Yay for hearing the heartbeat I was bummed at my last appt - my midwife doesn't have an ultrasound machine one hand but she does have a doppler, which she tried to use to hear the heartbeat but at 9w by BB2 was difficult to find so she gave up
How's that for adding worry?!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Chastenet: Honestly I was really surprised at hearing the heartbeat and think it was more an effect of the u/s machine, because I've heard so many things about not being able to hear it until much later. But yeah I feel you on that added worry - it might have been better if she had just told you she wouldn't try for another few weeks!
@crunchy1: That sounds like a pretty good number for your HCG! I hope the second beta brings you the bit of reassurance you need to keep believing. It is so hard right now to believe there is a tiny healthy baby in there that we can't see or feel.

Hi guys - Sorry to add more bad news to the mix. I had my first ultrasound yesterday at 9 weeks and the baby stopped growing a few weeks ago. They were surprised I never had spotting or cramping. I'm taking the medication next week...
This was my first pregnancy so we're a little bit heartbroken.
@bushelandapeck, I'm sorry to hear you are going through the same, it sucks.

@DCBW: I'm so sorry...it makes me sad that anyone else should have to go through this. My heart goes out to you and your SO

@calsmom: SO and I are waiting until Thanksgiving to tell our families. it should be right after our 11 week ultrasound, so as long everything goes well we will announce.
@DCBW: so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are will you in this difficult time.
I am so nervous for the remaining weeks of this trimester. I have had pretty bad Nausea so I guess it is a good sign but you never know what can happen. How is everyone else able to pass the time without stressing?

@DCBW: I'm sorry that you received this news. Hoping you can heal in your own time.
I'm not going to lie...this makes me a little nervous for my appointment next week.

@BabyBruins: I agree. My first appointment with u/s is next Wednesday. I'm nervous. Fingers crossed.

@MsBadger: Mine is Wednesday also and I hope I get an ultrasound (that is what they did with my first baby).
We can be nervous together for another week.

@DCBW: i'm really sorry you have to go through this. the same thing happened to me last year, and it was also my first pregnancy. i opted for a d & c, but was given the choice to take meds or d&c. it was really hard for me for a while, but it gets easier over time. hang in there!

does anyone else have terrible nausea? i'm 10w5d, and i swear the nausea is getting worse. i have this constant lump in my throat that is really uncomfortable! i've tried b6 and unisom but it doesn't really help me. i'm just hoping it'll end once i hit 2nd trimester!

@DCBW Wow. I'm really sorry to hear this news. You are in my thoughts.
@MsBadger and @BabyBruins Add me to the nervous list. My first appointment is tomorrow and this is my first as well. Like you, I'm hoping this nausea foretells good news.

@DCBW: I'm so sorry....I think I am still in a little bit of denial that it happened. I took the medication right away on Tues and I think things are slowing down now. I would recommend taking the pain meds they gave you and trying to rest for the first 12 hours or so... Please wall me if you want to talk at all. *hugs*

@DCBW: I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take the time to heal and feel free to wall me if you want to chat. I had an m/c in March that required a d&C and another in August that was a chemical, and sometimes having someone to talk to really helped the process.

Hi ladies - I'm very hesitantly joining this board because I am just so afraid to jinx myself. Hopefully this is a sticky baby!
EDD: June 29
When Did You Find Out?: 14 dpo
Child Number: #2
Where You Live: NYC
What kind of provider will you see? OBGYN/Midwife
When's Your First Appointment? November 14
What kind of birth do you want? My first was born via c-section after laboring and pushing unmedicated for 16 hours (posterior showing forehead and big baby!). I am hoping for a vbac which my OB was on board with when I discussed it with her at my last follow-up. Will also try to an unmedicated natural birth again.
What You're Most Excited For: These next 8 days cannot come soon enough. SO and I are very anxious for our first appt and seeing a little bean hopefully.
What You're Most Scared About: I'm most scared about whether this baby is growing on track. We had a m/c earlier in the year (blighted ovum ending in d&c) and another in August that was a chemical, so I am just so scared. Trying to stay positive!
Symptoms so far: Very nauseated throughout the day that comes in waves and extreme fatigue.

@LITTLEVEESMOMMY Welcome!
My appointment went well; it felt a little anticlimactic since they didn't do an u/s. They don't typically do one until 20 weeks, I guess. But the exam went well. Nothing looked abnormal. Now we're just waiting for lab results.

I had my first OB appointment today! I am going to go back next week and have blood drawn for the MaterniT21 test (I think I spelled that correctly.) It tests for chromosonal issues and will also tell you sex. My OB had a little hand-held abdominal ultrasound and while the quality wasn't as good as a transvaginal (or even a regular abdominal machine), it was great to see our little butterbean's beating heart.
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Work has been crazy, mainly because my only employee is on leave. I think of you all often!

Hello. I am cautiously optimistic to add to the June 2014 thread. My EDD is June 2 by ultrasound measurements. This will be LO #2 (i have a three year old boy) but pregnancy #5 as I had three miscarriages trying for #2. Symptoms so far include dry heaving/gagging (especially when i get cold for some reason?) and fatigue. Like my son is watching an embarrassing amount of TV-fatigue. I haven't told our parents yet but some close friends know. I'm looking forward to making it to the second trimester and finding out the sex of the baby.
Hugs to all the mamas who are going through losses. Having been there my heart aches for you and I hope for swift recoveries for all.

@Duckling: No news is good news! I'm so glad to hear it went well!
@kentuckygirl: Missed you! Do you know how many weeks you have to be to get the Maternit21 test? Are you also getting a sequential screen or anything like that? I'm regretting not asking at the OB this week and am thinking of asking when I see the MFM at 11 weeks, but don't know if they'll say no because I'm already getting a sequential screen.
@littleveesmommy: @stp: Welcome!!
pear / 1786 posts
@spaniellove: I don't know for sure yet if I am doing the sequential screening.
I am choosing the blood test since I am high risk, it has good accuracy, and is non-invasive. I could be wrong, but from what I am reading, MaterniT21/Verifi/Harmony tests seem to be more precise since they actually evaluate chromosones rather than a variety of other indicators of that could signal a possible issue. They apparently detect issues with about 98% accuracy and very low (0.5%) false positives.
You can do them as early as 10 weeks, but my OB says I need to wait until 10 weeks 5 days. I am higher risk for chromosonal issues since I am 38 now, I don't know if all Dr. will recommend it if you are not at high risk.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@kentuckygirl: I am high risk, but for other things. In my case it's for neural tube defects and IUGR, so a test like Maternit21 may not be as justified. Oh well, I'll ask the MFM just in case! Thank you for explaining this!

@spaniellove: Thanks you! I had some light cramping Saturday night which threw me into a panic and I self prescribed lots of bed rest for the rest of the weekend. Very anxious for Thursday and it cannot come soon enough.

@spaneillove - I am 38 also and I will most likely to CVS again. The blood tests are a great diagnostic tool, but are limited to Downs and the other two common trisomies (13 and 18). I did CVS with my first pregnancy two years ago and it was painless and quick and gave me all the information I wanted to know. With an experienced provider, the risk in minimal.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@littleveesmommy: Lots of water and putting your legs up helps! Are you around 7 weeks? I remember some new cramping starting up around that time which made me panic, and both my OB and RE had to tell me that it was normal to have weird cramps that far along.
persimmon / 1472 posts
@spaniellove: That's very reassuring to hear! I should be 8w1d today (yay) and was hoping it was stretchy cramping which I had a lot of with DD but every little thing has me worried now. I will be guzzling looooooots of water for now.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@shortcake: Thank you! I guess we'll do the sequential screen/NT scan in 2 weeks and decide from there if I need CVS or amnio?

@spaniellove: Thanks! I went into my OB's office on Friday bc I thought I had a UTI and will get the culture results today. I was hoping she would offer the doppler, but no dice.
Wednesday will be here before I know it.

@spaniellove: Thanks for the good vibes! Like @babybruins: said, I'm sure Wednesday will be here before we know it.
Provided everything goes well, we'll tell our parents after the ultrasound. This also make my stomach jump into my throat lol. I am TERRIBLE at making big announcements...

Just wanted to stop in and say hi! Any updates from the June mamas? I had my blood drawn yesterday for the Harmony test (not MaterniT21). Should know results including baby's sex in about a week! Now that I am waiting I am a little anxious about results Trying not to think about it.
I will be 11 weeks tomorrow. I ordered some maternity clothes this weekend and may need to start wearing some of it next week. I have gained less than 2 lbs. since starting my IVF meds, but my pants are definitely tight. It seems too early but I am already uncomfortable enough that I am ready to give in. My only worry is people noticing and starting to question me. I will probably tell a few more people in 2 weeks but I don't know if I can wait until then on the maternity pants. Anyone else starting to wear or thinking about maternity clothes yet?
honeydew / 7916 posts
@kentuckygirl: Girl, I've been wearing the maternity clothes since I don't know when. I'm back down to my starting weight but have been uncomfortable and over the weekend my belly/bloat just went crazy. I thought I'd try to wear my regular jeans last weekend but after finding myself in a parking lot hastily trying to button them back up I gave in. Did you get full panel or side panel? I found that if I wear a baggier top with maternity pants it's pretty easy to hide, but at this rate I might not be able to hide much in a few weeks!

My appointment and ultrasound went well today! Everything looks normal and on track. *pheuf* 10w3d today, so it basically looked like a little alien with a heartbeat.
On a side note, my OB told me that the Intelligender test at Walgreens was actually quite effective, I almost fell of the chair LOL! It gets mixed reviews online though so I'm not sure whether it's worth the $38...
No maternity clothes yet. I still fit comfortably into my jeans with the one looser belt loop. I can't wait to start noticing a tummy, I think it will make it more real. I'm one of those people where it probably won't hit me that this is actually happening until they plop a baby on my chest.
persimmon / 1194 posts
@MsBadger: interesting to hear about the intelligencer test! So tempted to try it out...
I had my appt yesterday and baby was measuring 9wks instead of 8 so dr wants me to come back in a week for another ultrasound. According to my LMP there's no way I'm 9wks so I guess we'll see!
No maternity clothes yet but I'm sure it'll be happening soon, I've already gained 5lbs in the last 4 weeks
@kentuckygirl: have you looked into a belly band? I wore it with my regular pants last pregnancy and it was a lifesaver till I transitioned into maternity.

My appointment today went well! Got to see the little nugget and the flickering heartbeat. She moved me up a few days and gave me a new due date of June 10 so I'm already 10w1d.
So relieved.
@kentuckygirl: I have been wanting to dig out my maternity jeans since about 6 weeks. I have one pair of jeans that are super big and they are my go-to pair right now. Fortunately, I only go into the office 2 days a week and jeans are appropriate. At home, I am all yoga pants, all the time.
@MsBadger: Glad everything went well today.

@BabyBruins: I am so glad everything went well! I kept my fingers crossed (mentally that is) for you all day.
