You ladies are making me extra impatient for my anatomy scan on 1/26! Can't wait to find out if the little bean is a boy or girl.

Wow, I'm super terrible at checking in around here. I think probably because I feel like I'm so far behind everyone - not really feeling movement (maybe once or twice?) and we don't know the sex yet. Plus things have been really mellow for me. I'm glad to have a boring, easy pregnancy, but boring is, well, boring

Super exciting to see all of everyone's news though! Lots of girls - crazy!

@MamaB: I just lotion up a lot and when it itches dont scratch and cross my fingers. I didnt get stretch marks with my first and I just was constantly drinking water and always putting very thick lotion all over my belly. Nothing specific. (Sorry that didnt really help u much)

@MamaB: I got stretch marks on my boobs last time but not on my belly. I just used regular lotion now and then. I think it's mostly genetics, but the lotion helps for comfort.

I can't tell, but I'm sure I must be getting new stretch marks on my boobs - they have never been so big in my life. I am going tomorrow to get new bras - none of my maternity or nursing bras fit. I used to be a C, then was a D last pregnancy and while nursing... I bet I am at least a DD now. Craziness.

I took my rings off this morning and am debating keeping them off. I can't remember when I stopped being able to wear them last time, but I really don't want to get them stuck. Has anyone taken their rings off yet?

I am noticing I can't sit up to get out of bed anymore... I have to roll out. Makes me feel like a whale! And bending over to pick up my LO's toys is getting trickier. I guess that means babt is growing! (and that I shouldn't have to clean, lol)!

I've been feeling a lot more movement, even though Ive gone back to taking a little more Unisom. I couldn't hack it without! The kicks are very reassuring, though the ones to my bladder are sometimes painful.

We are making zero progress on the naming front. I feel like my husband is sooo picky! But then, I don't like any of the nicknames he likes for the names we agree on - ugh! Good thing we have awhile!

@78h2o: my rings came off a couple days before 20 weeks! I took my last Diclegis Thursday morning, and ms came back with my vengence this morning.

My dog had surgery yesterday, and I've been so stressed. I think I felt my first Braxton Hicks today. It was a really weird cramp, it's happened 3x today. I read it can start as early as 20 weeks, and I'm 29w1d. I'm gonna try to increase my water intake. I've had about 1.5liters today.

@dc yoga bee: Sorry to hear about your dog. Hope he/she is doing okay. Are you going to go back to the meds? Or stay off? I don't think I really had BH with Julia (that I knew of), but water always helped for cramping.

@78h2o: Surgery went really well, and he is resting but in pain. Seeing my baby boy in pain makes me cry. He had ACL surgery. Hopefully, tomorrow he will be in less pain. It's only been a little over 24hrs. Maybe the pain is round ligament pain. I didn't feel any hardening of my belly.

@78h2o: yup..I got some stretch marks on my boobs too. Rings came off like 2 weeks ago. I'm rolling like a whale as well. When people all me how I feel I say HUGE! No real movement which is freaking me out but the both have anterior placentas so that is giving me some peace of mind I get to see them next Saturday so cant wait for that.
Dh picked out Lily and I am really starting to get attached to it and we decided to use his dad's middle name for our son. (His dad past feb of last year) no we have to find a Japanese middle name for our girl and a first name for our boy! Ugh!

@dc yoga bee: glad your baby doggys surgery went well. That would make me cry too. Hope he heals fast and is back to his old self soon!
I have never experienced braxton hicks and also hydrated whenever I would start to feel crampy or uncomfortable.

@78h2o: @BabyMats: Thank you ladies! I should be sleep, but am just listening to him sleep and checking on him constantly instead. My Yorkies are like my babies, so it's hard seeing him in pain, and he doesn't underrstand what's going on. But, this will improve his quality of life so he just has to get through this not so fun recovery.

I chugged some water, and started feeling better, so maybe I just needed even more water! I wish we were 100% set on a name. It actually kind of bothers me a little bit! I feel like I would feel more connected once I knew the sex, now I know the sex and still don't feel as connected as these ladies do in A Baby Story and other tv shows you see on tv. Maybe I won't feel totally connected until she's here on the outside

@dc yoga bee aww your poor little puppy! My dogs are my babies too! I was a vet tech for 8 years and saw lot of pups go through surgeries and recoveries, most of the time the first night is the worst cause of the anesthesia and they're just so out of it. He's probably got some good pain meds on board. He'll be feeling better soon. Poor little guy.

We thought we were set on a first name but idk now. It's just so hard, it's a big decision. It's going to be her name forever! DH and I are thinking of maybe waiting to settle 100% on a name until she's here to make sure it suits her.

@MamaB: I know genetics plays a part, but I am doin what I can and use a lotion every morning and oil every night. I so far have been more concerned about my breasts since I quickly moved from a B to a D, but haven't gotten a stretch mark from it!...*knock on wood*

@78h2o: I've been on and off thinking about taking off my rings. They haven't gotten stuck yet, but I think that's because it's mostly cold outside. On the flip side though my fingers are slightly swelling and the dry air is making the skin itchy and irritable. I've started looking into getting a silver necklace chain so I can still wear them when they are not on my finger.

@dc yoga bee: sorry to hear about your puppy, but glad that this will overall improve his life! I am sure you will start noticing a difference with his recovery soon! I also completely agree with you on the feeling connected part. I thought once I knew it would make it easier and it sorta has but not in a big way. We already have a name and it makes no difference. I hear that once the baby starts really kicking it brings everything to a different level. I guess there is still 20+ weeks to see if we feel any different!

@dc yoga bee: I hope your pup recovers Quickly!

@78h2o: I haven't taken my rings off at all yet, I don't think I'm swelling up at all and they still fit just fine! I'm hoping to hold out as long as possible!

@MamaB: nothing I mean I put lotion on my belly, but I already have a ton starting, it's really sad! I would take a picture to show you, but it's just way too much!

Thanks so much for the well wishes guys! He hasn't cried at all yet today, and is much more alert this morning! Here's to day two!

We ordered a stand in ring half a size up, so I've been wearing that. It's sterling silver, and a "diamonique" center stone. I definitely miss the sparkle of my real ring, but it's only for a short while

@dc yoga bee: my friend has one of those that she said I could borrow once she gets her wedding set insured (she forgot after they got married two years ago, so her husband made her put her rings in a safe). I think I ended up going up a full ring size+ by the end. I usually wear a 5.5 and was wearing a 7. However a 6.5 might have worked if they sold them off the rack that way. So much swelling! Hopefully you won't have as much. It's definitely worth getting a ring that will last a few months though...I couldn't wear mine for a few months post partum and I went through 2-3 cheapies before I got a sterling silver band. However, I can't seem to find it now, so I have to get another ring or borrow my friends.

Has anyone started a registry yet? I'm trying to get some ideas, but getting completely overwhelmed. I've been playing around for like two hours, but have only added one item to a private registry on Amazon. These big ticket items are tricky...or I'm just making it harder than it needs to be! Any recommendations would be appreciated!

@dc yoga bee: dh bought me a ring with ds birthstone and that is my stand in ring he got it a bit bigger so I could wear it but even after pp weight loss I still wore it just on the other hand.

@MrsKMM: I am contemplating a registry just because of the discount to close out and stuff. Plus my bff wants to throw me a shower and I feel I dont need on e because I was given a shower for ds. I was thrown like 3! I feel like it might be too over th e top tonhave another one. But she is insisting because its twins I should have another one...what do you think? I feel like it is asking for too much.

Eta: my bff did all the researchfor me for what was best because she had just had her son. So I went off of her research on safety and possible necessity. Then I chose what I like and could afford

We actually just set up a registry at Babies R Us earlier today. Completely unplanned. I feel like I prefer Buy Buy Baby as a whole but BRU had been registry incentives. For example, BRU a didn't have any high end strollers in store ( ETA: they don't online either so I'll need another registry) - basically all of the Graco lines and some others. BBB had strollers of all price ranges. It's kinda like comparing Nordstrom to Macy's or something (and I had a Macy's wedding registry so no slighting there!). That being said, I didn't see any real registry incentives for BBB aside from the coupons (they accept Bed Bath & Beyond ones). BRU gives you 10 or 15% registry completion coupon two months before due date and you earn rewards based on how much is spent off your registry. So we plan on adding items we'll purchase ourselves to get more rewards. Rewards come two months after your due date. You can also return any item purchased off your registry for up to one year post due date. So if I get non-registry items, I'm just going to add them after the fact in case I want/need to return them. I may also register on Amazon since a lot of NYC people are online shoppers and I wouldn't blame a non-parent for not wanting to go into BRU or BBB!

@BabyMats: What about a sprinkle type shower so it doesn't look as "unnecessary"? And you are adding a new gender this time around, no?

  25. BabyMats

    nectarine / 2031 posts

@LindsayInNY: I guess a sprinkle would be nice. I just feel so uncomfortable with it. I guess I have to get over it because they are going to throw it anyways but I will push for a very small one..

We dont have a bbb over here we have a bru and with the 15% completion discount and with like coupobs on top of it we saved so much money. We got our bob for $220! So the incentives are better.

  29. 78h2o

@BabyMats: I think a "sprinkle" is fine for number two...especially if the baby is a different gender and even moreso in the case of twins.

@dc yoga bee: Oh no! I hope you feel better.

@dc yoga bee: oh no..feel better! Take care and hope you feel better soon!

  31. MrsKMM

    apricot / 263 posts

@LindsayInNY: Thanks for the insight. I confess to not even knowing what Buy Buy Baby was until now... will have to do a little more research. The only store near us is Target, the closest BRU is over 20 mi. away. But, all of our relatives live in the same state, one state over, where there are BRU's close by. I've been reading that Amazon is also a good choice, so I am planning to start a private registry for now. I just never realized there were sooo many options for strollers, cribs, car seats, etc!

@BabyMats: A small shower might be nice though, since you'll need an extra of everything! How old is your first LO?

@dc yoga bee: Oh no, good luck & hope you feel better soon!

  32. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@MrsKMM: You could also do BRU online yourself, without even stepping foot into the store!

@dc yoga bee: Hope you are feeling better! It sounds like you have had a rough weekend.

I am also totally overwhelmed by registering! And my mom's friends are throwing me a shower in March so I need to get to work. I have a friend with a one year old and she has promised to take me to BRU to walk me through it all.

  34. MrsKMM

    apricot / 263 posts

@LindsayInNY: that's true. I may need to go explore in stores anyway

@rpparker: That seems very helpful! I wish I had someone to walk me through it lol

I think there's a gold member post, but I'm not gold, so totally posting a bump pic from tonight. I feel like I look big for 17w?? I didn't start with a flat stomach, haha, but I still feel like I'm bigger than I should be for 17w 4d?
