@runnerd: Congrats on your boy! I'm getting so exited for our scan! I know whatvyiu mean... It took a while for our midwife to find the HB at our last appointment, I hadn't been feeling baby as much so I was getting freaked out, really looking forward to visually seeing everything is okay

I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to reveal the gender. I'm thinking a pic of the scan with a pink now or blue now tie... Any other ideas in how to make a fun visual announcement that we can send to our family far away?

@Meadow: yay for flutters! So exciting

We're pretty set on our boy name but I'm not sure how it will work with the family make middle name on my side... My thought is DH's family's surname so we would use my family's middle name. We're undecided on a girl name, the one I love DH has a very strong negative association with - Violet. We're waiting for the scan to get more serious about name decisions.

We're also starting to spend more time looking at the things we need and chatting to others about what what is actually useful and what are things that you really don't need.

@Mrs. Pink: I like Ellis for a girl. Elisabeth is my daughter's middle name

Names are so hard! My DH hates everything and since we are planning on staying team green we have to come up with a boy and girl name. With our first we had her name picked out at about 12 weeks. This one we will probably be deciding at the hospital

So...haaaaaay ladies...I'm the WORST poster these days. I don't have time during the day at work, then I'm so busy in the evenings that I just don't get to it! I've skimmed over and am so happy to see some of these gender announcements! We find out on Jan. 25, I can't wait!

I've been feeling pretty well for the most part, and the days that I'm not, my boss is lovely and lets me work from home. I'm officially in mostly maternity clothes, but you can only tell I'm showing in certain shirts/dresses.

I can't wait to follow you gals on this journey! Last time I was a "beginning of the month" junebug, so I'll likely be much more impatient

@Mrs. Pink: I live Ellis even as a girl name! I think I e will likely name her Caroline, but are still open to other names, just lacking the drive to research!

Ellis doesn't sound like a girl name to me, but I like Elisabeth! None of our family names work with stuff we like so we won't be doing that. However after naming DS something that has never made it on the top 1000 charts, I don't think our parents are expecting much! I actually got DH to agree to a boy and a girl name (with middle names too) the other day so we are in a really good place. I might share later if I'm bold enough.

@brownepiano: it'd be the middle name-- so not her first name unless we did go with Elisabeth which is a first name option as well (in which case, we'd pick another middle name I think, otherwise it'd be to much Elis in a row haha) for first names I like Scarlett, Zoey and Charlotte best

my MIL apologized last night at dinner for being so pushy, thankfully because I've been trying to figure out how to let her down as I don't like her middle name either! and maiden name I don't think would work as a middle name for a girl even a little bit!

@Mrs. Pink: oh I like Ellis! And actually, it is s female name, it was Meredith Grey's mothers name in Greys Anatomy

@Mrs.Pink: I love Ellis as a girl name, which I love boyish names for girls.

The name we have decided on is Nikolai Ross (Ross is my husbands name) and use the nick name Niko. We were stuck at choosing a girl name & if he would have ended up being a she we probably wouldn't have decided on a name until after birth.

How has everyone been feeling? I have been a bit anxious, waiting on stronger movement. Everyone on the sites say they felt strong movement around 17 weeks. I'm still feeling just flutters like movement & I have felt a very light "nudge" just a few times & it's only when I'm super still. What are all of you feeling? Any stronger movement? Or am I just worrying over nothing?!

Hope you all have a nice Monday.

@Mrs. Pink: that makes sense. I like creative middle names but I'm usually horrible at picking middle names and our family names are not creative.

@Mrs. Pink: Ellis is my surname I really like Ella for a girl but it is off the list... Ella Ellis. I agree it could make a good first or middle name.

@Mmcalli: I'm still only feeling slight movements at 20 weeks... Intermittently I wouldn't be too worried. Soon we will be getting sharp jabs in the ribs and wishing for the gentler movements all preganancies are different

Anomaly scan is tomorrow! Excited to see baby again, we haven't had a scan since 10 weeks! This may also probably be our last so looking forward to taking in the moment One of my close friends is visiting, I haven't seen her in 2 and a half years so this will be a special day to share with her.

    Have a good week everyone!

@Mrs. Pink: @Contemplating: haha funny, Ellis is my maiden name, and my son's middle name

I personally love it for girl or boy but I'm a BIG fan of last names as first names thus why DH has axed most of my boy name picks!

@MrsKRB: congrats!!! I can't remember is this your first?

@MMcAlli: first time around, I didn't feel movement until 18-19 weeks! This time is swear I've felt something occasionally, but nothing I can call 100% - soooo ready!!

As far as names, Eli is the front runner right now. It's basically just us dragging our feet about calling it. My only hold back, is I recently became non-religious about 1.5 yrs ago, so I'd prefer a non-biblical name, but I love it so much with our son's name!

@Mrs. Champagne: I hate the wait between appts!! Hope the week goes by quickly!

Hey Ladies! I've been a bad poster, too But I've been following along with the thread and it's been fun so see the gender announcements! It makes it a little hard to stay TG, but we're going to stick it out. Mainly because this is very likely our last baby and I deep down hope girl, although I know a brother will be wonderful for DS, too. I figure maybe I won't be as disappointed when the baby actually arrives...IDK. Anyone else thinking about/ dealing with some gender disappointment? Trying to focus on the positive though!

I've been feeling more movement, but it's definitely subtle! Mine feels like little twitches and pokes, like last time, and more each day. It's the best feeling ever I'm waiting for it to pick up and be more consistent, and I'm 18w5d today.

We haven't really started to talk about names yet. It was hard for us to agree on DS's name, but we both love it. Boy names are hard! Coming up with one of each will be a challenge For a girl I like Lucy Evelyn. Lucy is one of DH's favorite aunts, and Evelyn would be for my mom, who passed away in 2012. DH wants to use the full name Lucia, which idk if I'm a fan of. I have a few boy and girl names on the list, but I think we're just putting off talking about it bc we know it will be a hard decision!

@MCD919: I had about a day of gender disappointment, then I was fine. With my first, it took a few weeks to get over my gender disappointment. This is our last too. I am NOT the type of person who likes surprises when I could have the answer, haha! So, it is much preferably for me to prepare for the gender and know, than keep that hope up for something different to the last second.

Congrats on all the new gender announcements! We found out today that baby is definitely a boy! I'm really excited and especially psyched for my son to have a brother!

On the more serious side, I had another scary bleeding episode this weekend and that's why I went in to see my doctor. I was diagnosed with a complete placenta previa, so I'm now on modified bedrest for at least 3 months, maybe even my entire rest of the pregnancy. I have to take a medical leave from my job, since teaching is just too physically demanding. There is a very small chance that the placenta will move to the upper regions of my uterus, but most likely I'll have to have a C-section at 37 weeks!!! This was the hardest news to swallow. I'm a bit scared, especially since my first pregnancy was so easy and I was so active. I had a med-free vaginal birth with DS #1, but I'm coming to terms with the fact that this second baby is a high-risk pregnancy.

It's all pretty crazy and I'm still digesting the news. Baby boy is totally healthy, and I'm so grateful for that news.

Ah, I guess the name conversations can begin with my husband. We only agreed on 1 name for DS1, so it should be interesting choosing a name for DS2!

    @Alba4: oh man how scary!

My friend had a complete previa. She never had any bleeding and never went on bed rest even though she was supposed to... She was being a bit risky in my opinion. She had a c section at 36 week (because her son came naturally at 37) and everything went fine. Hopefully yours moves!!

@Contemplating: Yay for your anatomy scan tomorrow and so great that you will get to spend the day with your friend! How fun!!

@MrsKRB: CONGRATS!!! How exciting Isn't it funny how our first half moms are having girls and second half boys at this point!

@Alba4: Wow that must have been very scary! ::HUG:: Please take it easy with your bedrest so baby stays healthy and inside baking. A friend of mine is on long term bed rest (probably from what would have been about now in her pregnancy....) and she has been picking up new hobbies like knitting. How old is your LO? Do they go to school? I can't imagine bed rest and managing another LO.

AFM - I had a doctor appointment today - was so wonderful to hear their beautiful heartbeats again today. I melt when I hear them The doctor was kind and let me record them on my phone to show DH! We even heard a "kick" through the doppler - that was neat! My fundal height is measuring 20 weeks which is right on target for twins. I feel like this weekend my bump grew significantly!

Is anyone buying new bras? I feel like I'm on the verge of needing the next size up. We are still allowed to wear underwires right? It is more toward the end when your milk is coming in that your supposed to stop? (Help non-FTMs!)

@meadow: You can't wear underwire bras?! I'll be so screwed....

@Alba4: I'm sorry you had such a scare this weekend, but I'm glad it was something (sort of) mild. Try to enjoy your bed rest while you can, and thankfully it's not a full bed rest! I hope the placenta takes advantage of that small percent and moves for you as well.

And so many people are find out gender... I wonder if I'll stay strong.....

  27. MCD919

    kiwi / 659 posts

@runnerd: That's a good point... there will be some disappointment whether I find out now or later. It's hard!

@Alba4: How does your friend pronounce it? Does she go by Lucy?

  28. meadow

    persimmon / 1272 posts

@RKitty: #1 - stay strong you can do it!! and #2 - what I've read is that its not medically proven, but anecdotal evidence shows that wearing an underwire bra is linked to clogged ducts/mastitis. I'm not excited for that since I REALLY appreciate the support of my wires!

  29. Purpledaisy

    nectarine / 2973 posts

@MrsKRB: yay for your girl! Congrats!

And I also think Grey's anatomy with the name Ellis!

@Alba4: congrats on your boy!! Bummer about the placenta previa I'm glad that everything looks good with baby. Take it easy!!

@meadow: you don't have to stop wearing underwire bras. I wore them pregnancy-nursing last pregnancy. I can't go without it! Definitely size up for comfort though.

@RKitty: I'm having a hard time staying strong for team green with everyone finding out! I have my 20 week scan on the 25th and it will be so hard to resist. I just keep thinking how excited we will be not knowing the gender when I go in for my c section. Obviously it will be exciting no matter what but not knowing the gender will make it extra special.

  30. Alba4

    nectarine / 2951 posts

@MCD919: she pronounces it Lou-sha. But I've heard other people pronounce the name like Lou-c-ah.

@meadow: we are lucky to have both sets of grandmas to help on a weekly basis. The other days he goes to school. It is really hard not being able to hold my 2 year old since he is too heavy. We may even move him into a big boy bed so we can eliminate some unnecessary lifting.
@ Purple daisy stay strong for team green. I wish I didn't care about the prep and planning, otherwise being team green sounds exciting!

  31. brownepiano

    persimmon / 1467 posts

@meadow: I had to size up several times last time so luckily I have them all already! I'm on the next size up now.

Underwire should be fine for pregnancy but could cause problems after, it depends on the person. I did have problems at first so I rarely risked it later. You might want to start with one or two non-underwire and then try underwire after everything settles down after the first few weeks.

    @MrsKRB: congrats on your girl!!

@Alba4: congrats on confirming you're having a boy! Hopefully your placenta previa doesn't cause too many issues. Yay that your baby is healthy!

@meadow: I guess I'm the exception since I'm in the first half and I'm having a boy!

@Contemplating: yay can't wait to find out whether you're having a boy or girl!!

We had our anatomy scan today too. Am I the only one who didn't know that they wouldn't show us the screen during the actual scan? My husband had to wait in the waiting room for the first 45 min. No pictures allowed during the scan either. They printed out a few for us to take home but overall the session wasn't as exciting as I was anticipating. They wouldn't discuss the results other than the HB, the weight, and the sex. The rest will be discussed at my next OB appt in 2 weeks. The baby had its hand covering its face so they couldn't get a good pic of the nose/lips and I have to go back on Wednesday. Also, baby had its legs crossed until the very end, but the techs (there were 2 of them at one point because the 2nd one was called in to try to get the baby to move) said they had a guess as to the sex. I asked what they thought and the 2nd tech said, "well I think we would both guess it's a G!" I thought it was funny that he didn't say the word "girl". I told him NIPT said it's a boy and he said in that case, without confirmation from the ultrasound, he had "30% certainty" it's a girl. Why not 50%?? Also I think it was weird they would even make a guess if they couldn't see between the legs, but oh well. After he left, the 1st tech said the baby briefly uncrossed and she thought she could tell it was a boy. I guess I'll ask again on Wednesday but I'm pretty sure it's a boy! Lol

Also I think I started feeling the baby move in the past week! It tends to happen when I'm on my belly, which makes me feel like I'm squishing baby, so I'm trying to stick to lying on my side.

@meadow: do cool you heard a kick! I bought a few nursing bras that I'm wearing now to hopefully last me until after birth. I bought these, and I think they might last because they stretch and fit a variety of cup sizes: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015DN1UUC?nodeID=7141123011&qid=1452599388&ref_=sr_1_2&s=apparel&sr=1-2 My boobs haven't really grown that much, but I needed a new bra and didn't want to waste money on a regular one.

I've been AWOL again, but I'm trying to find some time to read and catch up! You can add another boy to the list since we recently had our anatomy scan.

Confession: I was initially disappointed and completely caught off guard by the realization of just how much I wanted another little girl. But I think it comes from wanting to have DD all over again since I love her so much. I went out and bought him a little onesie that says "Dude" on it and that helped me start getting excited about adding an entirely new person to our family. I am now completely okay with having a little penis in me.

@Purpledaisy: My 20 week is Feb 1st... I'm hoping I stay strong through it! And I hope you do too!
