@MrsKRB: Yay for passing!! Do they want you to take a supplement?
@Mrs. Champagne: Woohoo!!

It ate my post! Argh.
So, interesting, definitely just an old wives tale about the linea nigra. Hope everyone feels better--nausea can just go away already! Sad so many are there, too.
And yay on the glucose tolerance test passes!
Who still has theirs? (I know I did mine super early at 25 weeks and I'm at the beginning of the month, so while it seems like it was forever ago, it was only 3 weeks ago.
When do your OBs switch to every two weeks? I guess I find out at my next visit (30 weeks).
What else is new?

@RKitty: me too! I haven't popped and most people at my work don't know yet lol.
@pastemoo: after 28 weeks I switch to every 2 weeks, so maybe after your 30 week appt?
grapefruit / 4418 posts
@pastemoo: with DD mine only went up halfway, it's yet to appear with this Girl! I have my 28 week appt Monday, even though I'm almost 29 weeks at that point and I haven't hady GD test yet. I'm guessing I'll do it then? It's also my last monthly, next appt will be 30 weeks!

I just had my glucose test yesterday. I took ds with me and it was fine. I bought donuts to celebrate, even though I don't know the outcome.
Then tonight I sliced my hand and had to go to the ER for stitches. Definitely not fun! Good thing I still have donuts left.

My glocose test can be any time now until beginning of april. Just have to go do it!
My first OB appt is March 29 and I'll be about 27 weeks. I'm assuming I will start to go every two weeks after that but I really don't know!
ETA: started a name poll if anyone can go vote or give an opinion it would be appreciated!!

@brownepiano: oh no!!! That sounds horrible. Poe you're ok. How many stitches!?
apricot / 341 posts
@pastemoo: Mine's April 1st. I'll just be shy of 28 weeks.
My doc does monthly till around 32 weeks then goes biweekly. Then at 36 goes weekly.
@brownepiano: yuck no fun. I'm glad your okay.
@Mrs. Champagne: can you give linky... your profile says your posts are hidden...
persimmon / 1272 posts
@pastemoo: I switched to biweekly after my 24 week appointment. The doctor said 28 weeks is typical for the GD test .... so they'll schedule it with me when I go at 26 weeks (in 2 Tuesdays). I feel like it's so far away!
@brownepiano: oh my gosh!!! That's no fun. But I agree...good thing you still had donuts left!
persimmon / 1467 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: 7 stitches between my fingers! I'm just glad I didn't cut anything important. We had to take my two year old with us, but it wasn't too bad.
@meadow: @rkitty: thanks. It's the last thing I want to have to deal with right now but the Dr seemed to think it will heal fast and I'll be able to get back to work.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@meadow: Yes, I'm taking an Iron supplement, I hope there's no side effects.
@brownepiano: oh no, sorry about the stitches Funny about the donuts, celebrate sugar with sugar!

@Mrs. Champagne: I commented on your post!
@brownepiano: oh no, sorry to hear about your hand and stitches!!
Am I the only one who failed the glucose test? lol

Baby B is trying to wedge his/her feet under my ribs....what a bizarre feeling!

@starlitsky: I have mine Monday I think? I'm expecting to fail lol. I failed with my first (but passed the 3 hour.) the endless amounts of cupcakes I've been consuming surely won't help me.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@meadow: I think I might have felt that once or twice too! Is it like a vibrating feeling?
@starlitsky: if it makes you feel better I was pretty close to not passing!
clementine / 795 posts
@catomd00: Mmm cupcakes! I hope you pass!!
@MrsKRB: haha well I'm glad you passed! I was close to passing but not close enough lol.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@starlitsky: aww. do you go back soon for a 3 hour?
@brownepiano: what did you get cut on? OW!!
@catomd00: Good luck! do they let you eat any protein before hand?
@meadow: my son did that, so glad this kiddo is not!
maybe i had my GD test so early just to save me a needle stick (i had to get antibody testing, another one in a month or so). or who knows. the web says the window is 25-29 weeks (or so, depending on the site) .
grapefruit / 4418 posts
@pastemoo: I haven't gotten any instructions yet, but my coworkers told me our doc says to fast, but none of them did.y doc last pregnancy said it didn't matter if I fasted or not, so I did by default since it was first thing in the morning and I failed, so definitely not going that route this time. As annoying as the 3 hour is, it won't bother me too much to be able to have 3 hours to myself to zone out lol!
persimmon / 1272 posts
@MrsKRB: it's a very odd feeling. I'm not sure how to put it into words......but it isn't a pleasant feeling. It feels like something is going wrong on my insides,. If it wasn't for noting I have a baby there I'd think there was maybe a giant air pocket inside me pushing my organs?
@catomd00: oh man....I'm hungry 24/7 these days....fasting would be so hard!!
persimmon / 1467 posts
@pastemoo: I was taking the pit out of an avocado and the knife sliped. It's the way I've always done it, but this time I sliced my hand.
@catomdoo: the nurses told me that fasting wasn't necessary, but to not eat any sugar before. I had eggs for breakfast before going, but I don't know if it made any difference.

@Meadow: Glad you got cleared to get a nice pedicure! I'm already planning one for next week. :))
@MRSKRB: I have low iron too, but my OB hasn't gave me a supplement, yet. I'm trying to eat more foods with iron in them so I don't have to go on a supplement. We will see at my next appointment if it's working. I hear the main side effect is constipation. Blah. Hope that doesn't happen to any of us!
@Pastemoo: I'm sorry you're having nausea again, I hope it passed over the weekend. I have some nausea through out the days but it usually passes without me having to pay a trip to the toilet. I have started my every two week visits, so I guess my doctor starts them at 27 weeks.
@Brownepiano: Ouch. Cut sounds painful, hope it heals quickly!
@Starlitsky: I was one point below failing, but my OB said a Pass is a Pass. So I'll take it. I hope your results for the 3 hour are better & it's not too bad. I personally don't think the drink or the blood work is the bad part. The waiting for an hour or three is BORING.
@Catomdoo: My OB gave me a list of things I could eat before the test. I ended up going with some toast & water to drink. It was enough to settle my growling stomach.

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend, for me, they always go by too fast. Nothing new here. I went to pick out a rocking chair/recliner for the nursery so that's another thing off the list. I plan on finishing (for the most part) the nursery this weekend so that after our first shower on the 26th we will be able to start putting everything in it's place.
One minute I feel like time is flying by & then the next I feel like June will never get here. Welcome to the third trimester of waiting. :)) What would you second time moms recommend doing during the third trimester? Any last minute things? Or tips to get done before the baby gets here?
PS. Is this time change getting to anyone? I enjoyed the daylight longer yesterday, but this morning as I forced myself out of bed, I was definitely feeling --- and hating --- the time change.

@pastemoo: I already took the 3 hour and failed that too because 2 of my 4 readings were high. But I wasn't that surprised since before I got pregnant I had PCOS which usually comes with insulin resistance. Plus it's forcing me to eat healthier.
@brownepiano: @MrsKRB: two of my coworkers recently cut their hands taking the pit out of an avocado too, eek!
@MMcAlli: which chair/recliner did you go with? I thought I could get by without having one but I went to buy buy baby yesterday and tried out a few gliders (with matching gliding ottoman!) and they were sooo comfy! So I might change my mind... haha.
How is everyone feeling? I've been feeling more sapped of energy and tired in the past week and have had trouble finding a comfortable position to sleep in. The switch to daylight saving isn't helping either.
I think I've finally almost finalized my registry. Doing research for the registry made it seem more real that in just a few short months I'll have a baby in my life!

@starlitsky: get a glider! It is a must have in my opinion! We still use ours daily with DS...we read there with him. We need to pick out another chair for this nursery. We have nothing set up yet, but I've ordered the bedding.
Just got back from my Dr. appointment. My placenta is still not budging and is still complete, but otherwise all looks well. Baby is still a big boy, which is no surprise since my DS#1 is tall and solid. (Heck I'm 5'9''!) My next appointment is in 3 weeks (I'll be 28 weeks) and I'll have my glucose test, rhogam shot, and another ultrasound. Feeling pretty good!
I love springing ahead, only because it is an easier transition than falling behind for my toddler. I also am not working so it's not like I have to wake up at 5:30 like when I'm teaching. Hope everyone has a good week!
nectarine / 2465 posts
@starlitsky: I actually had a big burst of energy yesterday, and have been feeling mostly good.
Does anyone else's lady bits hurts? It feels like I pulled a muscle or something! Haha
nectarine / 2951 posts
@MrsKRB: yes, mine!!! I asked my dr. She said they are round ligament pain. I never had that pain with #1.

@Alba4: is that what that is?? I thought RLP was something different, haha good to know!

@Alba4: sorry placenta won't budge.
My replies keep getting eaten....
Starlitsky, pretty sapped here too. What did the obs recommend for your gd diet?
@MMcAlli:
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@MMcAlli: i hear you on the slowness/fastness of time!
@MrsKRB: ooh! i am hoping for a big burst of energy. i did a quick spring clean out of my car (pretty sure anyone who sits in it would still think it is a gross car. Stained, light colored fabric seats are hard to overcome.
@brownepiano: ouch! i hope you heal up quick!
@meadow: i'm sorry it's so uncomfortable!
clementine / 795 posts
@MrsKRB: I'm hoping for a big burst of energy soon!
@Alba4: glad your appt went well side from the placenta not moving!
@pastemoo: I'm supposed to count my carb and protein grams but I've found that just limiting starchy carbs and eating high protein snacks like cheese and nuts is helping. It's tough though!
persimmon / 1272 posts
@MMcAlli: Time change was "eh" for me...I've definitely had worse years. This morning was rough driving to work in the pitch black darkness combined with it raining pretty hard. I was not a fan
@starlitsky: Yay for finishing your registry!!
@MrsKRB: Funny you mention the energy...I cleaned counters, toilets, and swiffered without having to force myself! As for lady bits - I have felt for the past week or so like someone punched me in the lady zone. Didn't think that was RLP....though.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@meadow: yes that's hat it feels like! Like it's bruised, but it's not.
nectarine / 2951 posts
Sorry guys, my OB said its the hormone relaxin, which causes round ligament pain, a sore back, sore hips, and pelvic pain. I totally misspoke!!!
persimmon / 1467 posts
@MMcAlli: I wrote out most of my to-do list before the baby comes and it ate my post so I gave up.
My plan is to stock my freezer with easy meals, the pantry with snacks, and try to have extras of all our toiletries. We still need to get some NB diapers, and get the guest room ready for Grandmas to come stay with us. The other thing I want to do is organize all the pictures I have from the last year that are a mess before we have tons more!
I think that's mostly it, but it is starting to feel like a lot.
DST I think hit me harder than my kid. I got to sleep in Sat and Sunday because of my hand so Monday felt really early. DS has been sleeping in but still taking good naps and going to bed on time. The weekend always wears him out though.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@brownepiano: I want to stock freezer too, probably will start that next month.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@Alba4: it's pretty much the same info though, no worries!
@brownepiano: stocking the freezer! i am so not that ambitious.
