    @MMcAlli: oh wow. I'm glad you're ok - that doesn't sound fun!!

@Mrs. Pink: awesome! I will check it out.

Dr appt today, next one is in 2 weeks. Blargh. Every two weeks is just so often. School is getting harder, so there is that. I'm pretty much freaking out about timing.
But generally things are good. Got my pertussis shot.
Mailing out my cord blood donation forms today, starting a list for the hospital bag (because with school, I won't have a lot of time to hash it out).
Feeling pretty overwhelmed and under ready.

@MMcAlli: that is scary! glad you're okay now!!
@brownepiano: sorry to hear about possible nerve damage! hope your surgery goes well.

I had my last monthly OB appt yesterday -- my next one will be in 2 weeks! Baby is 2 lb 6 oz which is right on track for 28w, and he is currently head down. Hope he stays in that position! lol. My OB also said they don't want me going longer than 39-40 weeks due to GD so I may have to be induced if I don't go into labor naturally by then. I also got my TDAP booster and my left arm is sore and made sleeping on my left side difficult last night.

Can't believe it's almost the end of March! Time is flying by and going slowly at the same time.

@starlitsky: The nurse at my office told me to get it in my right arm because it would be inadvertently moved more and end up hurting less. I'm hoping she is right. Try moving it (despite the awful soreness). Good luck!

@MrsKRB: My LO was still in Breech position at my 28 week appointment, too. The Dr said its not something to worry about yet and babies are still flipping around in there for awhile. I can't help but wonder if s/he will stay that way though...?

  6. starlitsky

    clementine / 795 posts

@pastemoo: I should have gotten it in my right arm but the nurse said they like to give it in the non-dominant arm. I'll have to remember to request the right for my next baby.

@MCD919: @MrsKRB: I agree there is a lot of time for baby to turn, which is why I'm nervous mine will flip lol.

@Mrs. Champagne: how did your scan go -- I think it was today?

I have some gear updates/questions but will go post in the other thread.

@catomd00: I understand totally! I had sinus surgery a few years ago as my sinus cavities got blocked so they had no where to drain out off and it was a lot of pain and pressure for the days and weeks leading to my surgery. If labor is easier then that I've got it covered!

  8. Mrs. Champagne

@starlitsky: thanks for asking! I just got back. It was good!! Shes measuring in the 60th percentile with super long legs like her dad and brother!

Oh and she is currently transverse!

  9. starlitsky

    clementine / 795 posts

@Mrs. Champagne: yay glad it went well! My OB didn't tell me what percentile but I've been curious... will ask next time!

  10. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@starlitsky: I asked and she clicked to a screen that had it right there. Pretty cool! This was just the US tech. Haven't seen an OB yet!

@RKitty: so awful! I swear at least with labor the pain isn't constant and doesn't last for days! I legit told DH I needed an epidural for my face lol!

@Mrs. Champagne: yay for good growth!!

I have an US tomorrow-- I know that my nugget is still flipping around and going all over... I watch my stomach move pretty regularly which is still pretty creepy and fascinating even though I've seen it before haha

DD still won't acknowledge that there's a baby in there- no matter what I do haha

Oh- funny story to share- I had an apt. with my midwife this past Friday- and they had to do my Rhogam shot. I was leaning against the counter- with my shirt pulled up and leggings folded down so they'd have hip access- and DD was chatting and just fine until she noticed the nurse was getting a needle ready-- she got up out of the chair, marched over, said "Oh, NO. NO" and pulled my shirt down and tried to fix my pants-- and grabbed my hand "We go mum, we go. go!"

She was not about to let that nurse give me my shot haha- I ended up holding her while they did it and explaining that it didn't hurt. It was so adorable-- I kinda felt bad because she remembers her recent shots and uh, I did not let her skip out on them.... clearly she felt like she needed to protect me though!

And thanks I'm happy with the growth!

@MCD919: Yeah, breech over here, too. Doc didn't even mention it (but it was obvious based on her finding the heart beat above my belly button....

@starlitsky: I always request the non dominant arm but this nurse told me that was a bad idea based on her anecdotal experience. I'll report back if I made the right choice. LOL. She said, "No, let me just do your left, or you'll be the one who is super sore and you'll blame me." Hahah. I did the right. It is kind of sore in tiniest area after about 6 hours.
@RKitty: If labor was easier than that... I like that.
    @Mrs. Champagne: Aww, yay!
@Mrs. Pink: Aww, that is adorable.

  16. Mrs. Pink

    GOLD / kiwi / 605 posts

I hate waiting a week after an ultrasound to hear anything about percentile and whether she's on track lol

But she was just over 2lbs or so from what the report said- so I'm hoping that's good?

  17. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

@Mrs. Pink: You can look it up online! I think WHO or CDC has tables. Or ACOG? 2lbs sounds about right. Are you concerned about baby's size?

  18. Mrs. Pink

    GOLD / kiwi / 605 posts

@pastemoo: with the SUA yes-- she was about 33% last month- so they're not concerned... but more like "concerned-ish" as long as she stays consistently growing it's ok but if it slows too much there could be a problem.

I'll have to look up the charts!

The ultrasound tech said based on her measurements my due date is a week off- but that kind of thing changed a lot my last pregnancy LOL

I should be 29+1 where they had 28-ish

  19. starlitsky

    clementine / 795 posts

@Mrs. Pink: @pastemoo: I used this link to calculate (fetal growth percentile section) and apparently by weight my baby is 36%? Which sounds small but on the other hand with GD the concern is the baby getting too big, so I hope it's ok!

    ETA link: http://www.baby2see.com/medical/charts.html

@pastemoo: are you left handed? My arm is doing a lot better today although still tender (and red) in the shot area. how is yours?

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed too! So much to do before baby comes, plus the uncertainty of not knowing exactly when baby will arrive!

@Mrs. Pink: @starlitsky: I had an ultrasound yesterday bc my fundal height was 5 weeks ahead, but baby was right on track measuring about 40%. That sounds like a big heathy % to me bc LO1 measured between 10-20% last pregnancy and they thought he was going to be 5-5.5lbs, but he came out 6.5lb.

  21. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@starlitsky: What is the link? I'd be interested to see where my baby is!

  22. starlitsky

    clementine / 795 posts

@MrsKRB: oops went back and added it now

@runnerd: 40% sounds great! As does 6.5 lbs at birth. I know these measurements are all approximate so it'll be interesting to see what we end up with at birth!

@pastemoo: Good to note regarding the vaccine - I'll remember that in two weeks when I go for mine!!

@Mrs. Pink: That story about your daughter is too precious! How cute!!!

27 weeks tomorrow - CRAZY! My OB told me this week that the babies are growing about an oz. per day now - which is unbelievable!! I saw a photo of myself that someone else took today (not the preggo selfie style pics I've taken....) and realized how big I look - it was a weird thing to notice!!!! Babies are enjoying punching me "low" a lot lately.......

Next week I have an echo cardiogram on Friday. Apparently the appointment is over 90 minutes which I think is an unreal amount of time to focus on one organ! Apparently 90 minutes is the minimum appointment time for a singleton, but with twins they had to book a larger window for me! I feel like I read someone else on here had an echo cardiogram earlier in their pregnancy....... if it was you....what was your appointment like?

  24. pastemoo

    cantaloupe / 6146 posts

@Mrs. Pink: I hope they call you soon!
@starlitsky: I think with GD, the concern is either way, small or big. I'd say 10-90% I would be totally happy with. Thanks for the link!
No, I'm right handed. I talked to my other nurse friend and she says she only gives the shot in the right arm--but she is a hospital nurse, not outpatient. She does it so if a patient has a heart attack, they don't assume the pain is from the shot.
So here is my outpatient take on getting the right arm shot while being right handed:
dominant arm: pain is less strong, but more frequent.
which is better? I can't really say. Yoga on Wednesday was nearly impossible and kind of hilarious with all the modifications I had to make. Definitely getting much better now (2 days plus a few hours after). How is yours doing?
    @runnerd: Sounds good! Yay.

Who else is still getting scans?

@meadow: Loooong appointment! Have fun... can you bring snacks? haha. An ounce a day sounds pretty awesome.

30w over here and freaking out that this is happening--there will be a baby in my life. Too soon! Too soon! Ack!

Weird name question (we've got a list we're going to take in the hospital bag): Would you spell this name Liora or Leora? (Lee--aura.)

  25. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@meadow: that was me! Mine was at 23 weeks, I'm suprised they're doing yours so late. Basically it was like another anatomy scan and hen they focused on the heart for awhile longer. It was pretty cool, you could see the blood pumping in and out!

@pastemoo: I think either spelling could work, but I like the way Liora looks the best.

  26. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@pastemoo: I think Leora! Cute name also when I just had my ultrasound the screen said 10-90 percentile was the normal/ok range

  27. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

@meadow: hey! I had an echo at 21 weeks! It was only 20 mins (they said could be up to 90) and the baby wasn't even being that cooperative! Basically she described it as an ultrasound but with sounds. So she would listen to different functions of the heart and record them. It was pretty cool! She was able to tell me (although maybe not allowed to) that everything looked good. Later confirmed by the doctor.

Is an echo standard with IVF?

  28. meadow

    persimmon / 1272 posts

@MrsKRB: I thought you were one of the people! But I didn't want to call you out.

@Mrs. Champagne: My OB explained that there is like a 2% higher risk for heart defects when you get pregnant through IVF. There are two high risk OBs that my OBs recommend people to. One practice considers the echo standard for ALL IVF patients and the other only does them for people when they notice a problem or potential problem at the anatomy scan. I go to the second practice described. So for me, it wasn't recommended. At my regular OB this week, the doctor was like - well, let's just be on the safe side and have you do it anyway.... When I called to make the appointment they were shocked at how late I'm coming and said we needed to schedule it ASAP. So @MrsKRB - yup I guess this is late!! haha. I guess if it's like an anatomy scan and we are looking at other things too that's why the appointment is so long.

@pastemoo: Haha - yeah, I will definitely have snacks in my purse and make my husband give them to me if we are really there that long :-p!! As for the name I like Leora better. But both are pretty.

  29. brownepiano

    persimmon / 1467 posts

    Wow I missed a lot!

@pastemoo: when I see Leora I think "leh-orah" vs Liora does make me think Leh-orah

My surgery went well but I'm still in recovery mode. DS went to my in-laws for a few days and it was blissfully quiet but now he's back and having a hard time but being able to do much with me. 10 more weeks to recover is not feeling like a long enough time right now!

One thing I didn't know was that you can take percocet while pregnant! So at least I had something a little stronger than just Tylenol.

Oh and I passed my glucose test! Apparently I am actually a little low and tend toward hypoglycemia so I have to be careful in a different way. It didn't help that I wasn't allowed to eat anything before surgery. I almost passed out in recovery because of it!

@pastemoo: my arm is better now (6 days later) but i can still feel a small lump where I got the injection lol. no more pain though! re: name, I've only seen Leora but I think Liora is pretty too.

@brownepiano: hope your recovery goes well, and yay for passing the glucose test!

@meadow: My husband took a picture of me the other day & when I seen it my exact words were "oh wow, I did not realize I looked that pregnant"...

@Pastemoo: I have a scan tomorrow & will have them every 2-4 weeks, just to make sure Little Guy is growing ok. The medication I'm on for my heart condition can cause babies to not grow so that's the reason for my scans. Thankfully it has not been the case for us. I am anxious to see how much he weighs now.
Such a cute name. Both spellings are super cute, I think my favorite is Liora.

@brownepiano: Glad to hear your surgery went well. Hoping for a super fast recovery!

Did everyone have a nice weekend? I had my first baby shower this weekend and OH MY at all the gifts. I was overwhelmed.
---Which leads me to a question, what do you moms wash newborn clothes in? So many people say Tide is ok, but then some say Drift (I think is the name). So I'm anxious to hear what you ladies did/do. I have some used clothes and a few new outfits I want to go ahead & wash. The rest I'm keeping hung up with the tags attached until I'm certain he will be able to wear. I have been told they outgrow clothes so fast!

I cannot believe I will be 30 weeks on Friday! Almost down to a single digit countdown. So so exciting..... and a little scary!! :)) Hope everyone has a great week!

@MMcAlli: we have used Dreft, Babyganics, and 7th Generation for washing newborn stuff. Now that my son is older, we use Tide Free and Clear.

I really have to get moving on the organization of the baby room. We literally have nothing set up yet, although I have bedding and a rug. We still have to get a new glider/rocker, move furniture from my parents (extra crib and bedroom set), and move the huge desk into our bedroom!!! Eeek!

  36. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@MMcAlli: I know some moms wash the clothes in Dreft or Tide Free and Clear, but impala have some friends who didn't bother washing the clothes.

@MMcAlli: I think Dreft is scented. I'll probably be using Tide Free & Clear or some other unscented detergent. 30 weeks is coming up for me this week too, exciting!!

@Alba4: I really need to get started on the nursery too, especially since we'll be converting it from a guest bedroom so we need to declutter and make space. Eek!

@MMcAlli: I use Biokleen Laundry Soap and plan to keep using it for my little one. It's fragrance free (very important for me) and environmentally friendly. And good for sensitive skin. I like it because it seems to do a really good job of getting smells and stains out. My husband works in a fertilizer plant and even his clothes he wears to and from work can stink bad and this stuff cleans its better then other cleaners we used to use. I also often use half or 2/3 of the recommend amount and still get clean clothes. The one thing I will admit is it doesn't seem to keep whites white white. So I'll run a load of whites every so often with a bit of bleach.

During my cloth diaper class I asked if it was a recommend product for cloth diapers and she said it does a great job cleaning but can require occasional stripping due to repelling issues. (I hope that makes sense)

I bought some used baby clothes off FB and they didn't smell at all, or very faintly when I got them. But then I ran them through my sanitize function on my washer and they came out reeking of perfume... I've had to rewash once, and I'm trying to air it out now. And once I get a nice day I might stick them all in the sun for a few hours to see if that helps neutralize the smell. I'm not sure if it was the hot water or the Biokleen but something activated the perfumes in the clothes!

  39. brownepiano

    persimmon / 1467 posts

I used Nellie's because I bought it for my cloth diapers too, but after a while it stopped working so now I just opt for some variety of free and clear.

Our closet where the baby will go for at least a little bit is still not painted. This while hand thing has completely sidelined all my projects.

Today was my first day on my own with DS and only one hand after surgery. A friend came over to keep me company and help me make supper, so it hasn't been too bad. It is amazing how hard it is to do so many things with one hand! It's making me look forward to baby because at least by then I should have my hand back.

@MMcAlli: I know Dreft is a recommended brand but just my two cents -- a friend of mine used it for baby clothes with her daughter born last August. The baby wound up developing rash on her face & body from the scents in the detergent. It was bad enough to need prescription creams from a dermatologist. After that incident her derm. told her to just use a Free & Clear variety of detergent. Personally, I picked up a bottle of All Free & Clear to get us started but haven't washed anything yet (I feel similarly about not wanting to take the tags off until we are certain the babies will wear the outfits!). But I'm a FTM, so I don't have any personal experience...

@RKitty: That is wild about the perfume scent!
