@RKitty: I measured 5 weeks ahead fundal height at my 25wk appt, so they sent me for an ultrasound; there was a perfectly sized 40th percentile baby in there

@runnerd: I'm totally feeling those crotch pains. Some days are worse than others! Someone recommended wearing a band across your hips.

@meadow: so glad the babies are doing well!@brownepiano: glad you're on the mend!

My next appointment is Monday. I really hope I pass my glucose test.

Just a quick update- I had my appointment today and we're still hovering around 30th percentile- which is within her normal curve so we are still good!

Not a whole lot else going on!

Also, RCS hasn't been scheduled yet but should be right around 39 weeks-- That puts us on the 30th I think, which is a no go as its my nieces birthday so I may ask to move it up a few days or hold out until a couple days later

@runnerd: I have pain there too, but more like a bruised feeling. I also get crampy too, usually when I go from sitting to walking.

@meadow: yay for a good appt, and so cute the babies' heads are snuggled together!

@runnerd: I've been feeling strange sensations in my crotch area, not exactly pain though.

@brownepiano: yay for getting your stitches out!

@RKitty @Alba4 good luck with the glucose test!

@Mrs. Pink: Yay for 30th percentile!

I had a growth ultrasound today. Baby is 3 lbs 8 oz. which is 43% and still head down. Just last Monday he was under 3 lbs! Maybe that explains the 2 lbs I've gained since last week

@RunnerD: I am finding it a little harder to hydrate lately - I had a few days where I was extra into drinking and went well over my usual and it felt great....somehow I think that got me off my routine of being deliberate about drinking...doh!

@Browniepiano: Yay for being in a splint! WOOHOO!

@RunnerD: @MrsKRB: I can't say that I have had lightening crotch, but have been pretty uncomfortable lately. I'd liken it to being punched in the "hoo ha". I wasn't sure if it was a typical pregnancy symptom or if it had to do with my progesterone supplements. Glad to hear others are dealing with this too and its a normal pregnancy thing. (Of course I wish none of us dealt with it......but you know what I mean...)

@Rkitty - Glad the GD test went well and the drink wasn't too terrible! I think the fundal measurement is pretty subjective - so 3 weeks ahead is a 3 cm difference. I feel like that's not a huge deal.....but that's just my opinion

@Alba4: I'm doing my GD test monday too - we are twinsies Fingers crossed for both of us!!!

@Starlitsky: Yay for baby's growth spurt! I can't wait to hear how big my babies are next Thursday at my growth scan. Based on how much I see the scale increasing they should have some decent weight gain

  8. brownepiano

    persimmon / 1467 posts

@runnerd: I get that too, but it is usually because of the baby. I think he's head down now, so its like he's trying to punch his way out!

@RKitty: I wouldn't worry much about fundal height. With DD1 I always measured 3-4 weeks behind and doc was never concerned (said 2-3 weeks was normal). Never had a growth scan or anything. DD came on her own 2 weeks early and was almost 7lbs. My coworker has been measuring 3-4 weeks ahead and just had her baby 2.5 weeks early and he was 5.5 lbs! So much variation!

Hi ladies, sorry for being totally out of the loop lately - I haven't been posting but I have been reading along and keeping up with everyone's news! I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well, even if the third trimester aches and pains are starting in full force....at least the end is nigh! I think just about all of us are officially in the third tri now, and the early June mommas are actually into single digit weeks countdown (luckies!)

As for me, I just had an appt with the midwife today, my first one in eight weeks! They really space out appts here with non-first time mums - my next one now isn't for another six weeks! All was good though, with the exception of baby being in the transverse position. I'm not worried yet, as I'm not quite 29 weeks, but both of my girls were head down from 24 weeks on and stayed that way, so of course I expected this one to do the same. Funny enough, I wouldn't have been opposed to needing a c-section with either of my first two, but knowing this is my last baby, I desperately want one last normal delivery and will be gutted if this baby doesn't turn. Putting the horse before the cart here though so not going to stress about it yet

No real pregnancy aches and pains to complain about right now, other than reflux when I bend over too soon after eating. We spent all weekend gardening and that was a bit tough with a bowling ball belly, but other than that, I can't complain. My patience is at an all time low, especially with my 3.5 yr old, but I also attribute that to the fact we've been out of our house for nearly six weeks now whilst having a major kitchen/conservatory renovation done. I get along very well with my ILs, but there is only so much 'helpful' criticism (ahem, 'advice') I can take from my MIL before I start to lose the plot. Touch wood, works will be done this week and we'll be back in our house by the weekend....

@meadow: @Alba4: Good luck with the GD test today ladies! Hope you both pass with flying colours!

@RKitty: As others have said, fundal height doesn't mean a whole lot, so try not to worry! I always measured small, up to four weeks behind by the end, with both of my girls and they were 7 lbs 6 oz and 8 lbs 2 oz. I'm measuring small again this time as well, but as long as baby is moving regularly, they don't feel the need to do a growth ultrasound as baby is fine.

@starlitsky: @Mrs. Pink: Glad to hear your babies are growing well! When you hear the estimated weight of the babies at this stage, it's a bit crazy to think about! I still think of the baby as being a tiny little bean, but it's obviously not! So exciting....

Anyway, I will try to do better with keeping up with this thread, but even if I'm not commenting regularly, I'm reading along and am always happy to hear everything is going well for everyone else!

@Meadow: Braless is the way to go. As soon as I get home mine comes off. I really need to get some new (larger) ones but I'm trying to hold off because I know they'll grow even more when my milk comes in. I find keeping hydrated on weekends hard. During the week I'm just sitting at a desk so I gulp water through out the day but on weekends I will forget to stop & drink. Plus on weekends I'm usually doing errands and peeing in public bathrooms is yuck.
@MRSKRB: I'm there with you. I know people aren't being rude but it's just rude. Especially if they say it after you tell them how far along you are. Like hello I see my belly no need to point out you think I'm fixing to pop or not going to make it to June.
@Starlitsky: We are down to single digits. :)) I agree with it feeling like time is flying by but feeling like I've been pregnant forever.
@RKitty: How exciting, I love seeing movement from the outside. My little guy's movement is so intense I'm pretty sure you can see it from across the room with me wearing a lose fitted shirt. He's a wild man!
@Runnerd: Ouch for crotch pain. I've been having a weird feeling down there, not quite painful (yet) though. Pregnancy is so glamorous.
@Mrs.Pink: I know how you feel about the baby's arrival being on or near someone elses birthday. I have a anniversary, neice birthday, nephew birthday, and brother's birthday all in the period he could come. No planned C-Section here so I'm anxious to see what day he will chose. :))

As for me, I am finding myself slowing down as well. I had a pretty busy day Saturday & by Saturday night I was so worn out & so sore. My back hurts just about 24-7 now. I've been doing some stretches/positions that help in the moment & a heating pad at night. I'm scared to see what's to come, to be honest. Oh & my nausea is back. It's not as persistent as 1st trimester but it's there. So that's lovely. I just keep reminding myself "Just 9 more weeks"

ETA: Do your littles one hiccup a lot? My little guy gets the hiccups SEVERAL times a day. It's so funny because he seems to gets mad when he gets them & takes it out on me (strong movements).

Hope you all have a nice week!

ramping up for exams over here. i may check in periodically over the next 6 weeks or not, i'm still here. big exam in May, then I'll be back and posting like 17x a day while I sit on my hands waiting for baby.

just following along, lots of good appointments and growth scans and exciting stuff all around! glad to see all the good news and fun updates. and bump pics--I should take one...

been more tired and getting headaches, probably from stress from exams. but generally things are good.

@Ree723: I am jealous of your infrequent appointments ! With appointments for my hand plus appointments every two weeks for the baby I am beginning to feel like a burden on my friends who watch DS for me.

I've been having serious issues with lightheadedness, so I'll have to ask the doctor about that this week. I've been working on drinking more water but it feels too extreme to just be water.

    nectarine / 2951 posts

@Ree723: I found out that baby is transverse today too! I'm hoping that he might turn himself, but may try some regular stretching and yoga.

I found out today that my placenta moved up a little and is no longer considered a complete previa! It is marginal, meaning that part is still touching my cervix. Regardless, the fact that it has moved at all has given me hope for a vaginal delivery! Only time will tell!

@Ree723: Wow - I can't imagine those big gaps between appointments. Holy cow! Not that I feel like my regular OB appointments are eye opening or anything....just nice to check in and hear the HB.....The high risk appointments are the ones I get most excited for - those have ultrasounds

I hope you get your wish and are back in your house this weekend! That must be so tough to be displaced!!! Gardening sounds nice - I have had the urge the past few days to get some plants going in front of our house - glad I didn't though - the weathermen are calling for frost tonight! Oh lovely.

@MMcAlli: The bra extenders have gotten me some extra life out of my bras - they weren't expensive at all...

While I expect my cup size to change again -- this has given me a chance to deal with the band size at least!

As for hiccups - I don't know if my LOs do. I can't seem to identify anything different than normal movement. There have been a couple times that I've felt 3 or 4 "kicks" in a pattern and thought - hmm maybe hiccups? But I have no clue

@pastemoo: Good luck with your exams!!!

@Alba4: Yay for your placenta moving out the way a bit!!

GD test this morning went okay. The first couple sips of the orange drink were OK - I was thinking - wow, this isn't so bad....then after I was about 25% of the way through it started feeling gross and making my throat hurt from the sweetness! haha.. I survived though. The tech drawing my blood said I should have results tomorrow - so fingers crossed.

@MMcAlli: I don't think I've felt hiccups! I've felt something that I thought could be, but it only happens a couple times I don't think it's hiccups.

@pastemoo: good luck with your exams!! It'll be nice to have that all done, and then you can wait

@brownepiano: maybe it's low BP and you need more salt?

    @Alba4: yay! Great news!

@meadow: yup it burned my throat too!

@MrsKRB: My blood pressure is always fine every time I go in. I suspect it is because of low blood sugar actually. I'm trying to drink more water and eat more protein. It stinks to be getting lightheaded several times a day!

@Ree723: it's crazy to think the baby is 3+ lbs now and will be packing on at least 3 more lbs before birth!

@MMcAlli: that's amazing about your LO's movements. Sounds like an active little guy! I haven't been able to see movement from the outside but I've felt mild hiccups once.

    @meadow: I love ultrasounds too!

@pastemoo: good luck with your exams!!

@Alba4: yay that your placenta moved!!

@brownepiano: that does sound hard to be dealing with lightheadedness at this stage!

Is anyone getting a 3D ultrasound? I found a groupon deal for a center that's close to my home so I bought it! Now I need to schedule the appointment.

Wow! Thanks everyone with comments about the fundal measurement! I wasn't worried about it for several reason but you all have help me be even less worried about it!

I'm glad to see everyone is doing well and getting everything settled into place. I need to call my area hospitals this week as my doc can deliver at two of our local three, and get tours so I can decided which hospital to go with!

  22. MrsKRB

@starlitsky: I would love to do the 3d ultrasound, but I can't justify the cost - especially when I feel like all the babies look the same. Let us know how yours goes!!

@runnerd: @meadow: Hiccups, for me, are obviously constant & its more of a deep movement/feeling it doesn't feel much like a kick or him changing position.. Like if you place your hand on my stomach it's just a light bounce every couple of seconds. Also, I feel them more in my lower stomach/private area than I do in the top of my stomach, which makes sense because he is head down. I've read some women never even feel them. Just another thing to show that every pregnancy is different.
@pastemoo: Good luck on your exams, by the time they are done & you're back active on here we will all be so close! :))
@brownepiano: Yuck on the lighthead-ness. I have experienced it a little but nothing to what you are describing. I would definitely bring it up at your next appointment, just in case!
@Alba4: Great news about your placenta!!!
@meadow: Thanks for sharing the link. I will have to get some of those to get me by. Fingers crossed for good results on your GD Test Today!
@starlitsky: I keep going back & forth about a 3D ultrasound. If I found a coupon, I definitely would. No such luck. My friend just had one done though & the quality was awesome. My luck I will decide to get one & my little guy would have his hand in his face (which he has every single ultrasound here lately) & not ever move it. Definitely post a picture when you get yours! I love seeing them! :))

I hadn't known 3-D/4-D Ultrasounds were still so uncommon! I've had a few done this pregnancy already! My doctors office just clicks a button and we get a 3D instead of a regular US.

Most of mine are either fuzzy though, or his hands are in front of his face so they're really nothing special....

Is anyone having rib pain? My lower left ribs hurt so bad after sitting for a little while, it feels like a bruise but goes away. I guess it's because everything is pushing against it, but I was so surprised since I'm carrying pretty low and have a longish torso

Anyone else decide on a name??

I think we are leaning towards Harlow right now... Nickname Low.

I want to use my moms name as a middle and we are slightly worried about offending my MIL. We would use her name for a girl if we had another, though. And their names rhyme so we can't just double up!

@MrsKRB: Another place to look is ultrasound training locations. A coworker of mine's wife works at a training place and they are always giving discounts or free scans to people willing to let new tech's perform the ultrasound. Since I don't think an ultrasound can hurt you or damage baby, that's a neat way to get a discounted 3-D ultrasound! I don't think I'd pay full price either, but am very lucky that my high risk OB has a 3-D mode on their machine and checks things out in 3-D each time also.

@MMcAlli: Thanks for the hiccup explanation --- now I have something to pay attention to!

@Alba4: @RKitty: Me too! I just got home and logged into my portal - I was so scared to click the link but I passed too! YAY! They also did a CBC and my white blood cell and red blood cell counts were a bit off - but not by a ton. So I'll see if they say anything at my appointment on Friday.

@MrsKRB: My rib pain is when I can feel baby trying to climb under it - maybe into my lung - haha. But not persistent pain in the rib. Or when I sit on the couch kind of curled up and my bra cuts into it. Haha.

We just got home from our first hospital class - felt really cool to be in a room full of pregnant ladies! We are taking a 3 part childbirth class on Tuesdays. This Saturday is a class on baby care. I'm eating it all up!

@pastmoo: good luck with your exams!
I feel the same way with my hand, by the time I get the splint off it will be baby time! I started physical therapy exercises yesterday and it is scary how much range of motion I've lost.

Whoever asked about hiccups, the baby has them right now! For me it is like a rhythmic tapping, really steady and not painful.

I asked about the lightheadedness today and it is reactive hypoglycemia. I need to eat often and cut back on simple sugars and simple carbs (basically my favorite foods). It's the worst first thing in the morning so I'm going to have to figure out some sort of change to my routine. After a hot shower I am almost ready to pass out!

I just registered for our birthing class it's the last weekend of the month... and picked the hospital! Less then three months to go! It's starting to sink in!

My husband knows I love Cadbury eggs and forgot to get some on clearance this year.... so he came last night with a box of them... he found a stash at a grocery store and cleaned them out! I also think he wants me to have gestational diabetes. ...

@brownepiano: Sorry about the hypoglycemia - doesn't sound fun! Thanks for the info on hiccups....are they many in a row like grown people or just like 2 or 3?

@RKitty: Yay for the class!! And double YAY for the eggs!!! I was at the grocery store today and was so pumped to find Easter candy marked down to 10 cents! Bring on the sugar! hahahahahah jk.

    @MrsKRB: HAVE FUN!!

I had a growth scan yesterday and everything is looking great - babies are just under 3lbs each - unbelievable to imagine having nearly 6lbs (a full term baby!) of baby in there!! Also the doctors were pleased to see a good amount of fluid still in there both cushioning the babies and giving them room to grow! It was fun watching them on the screen - neither baby was particularly cooperative for printed photos, but watching a yawn on the screen and watching one of them practice breathing was just so cool

This past week I have been feeling really exhausted. In writing this I'm realizing I probably am eating less meat than usual - so I need to get some meat meals in the next few days. Either that - or I'm just getting the 3rd trimester sleepiness :-p. My foot swelling has ammped up too...whomp whomp.

We are going to a class tomorrow for half a day on baby care in the newborn stage. I'm so excited to learn and see my husband learn things!!! YAY

Oh and we built one of our cribs - AHHH it's so fun to walk into the room and see it there
