    @Mrs. Champagne: cool!
    @brownepiano: so you would pronounce them differently? I think Liora looks prettier but I think Leora would be pronounced better--maybe?
    @starlitsky: i think it worked, after 4 days, there was no pain unless I jabbed at it really hard.
    @MMcAlli: tide free and clear, all the way, i go with powder. my SIL recommended the dreft stain spray and i'm considering it.
    how big of babies did the rest of your family have? my son fit nb size for a week (no joke). he wasn't even "big"

    i decided against a shower or sprinkle or sip and see. so i'm excited to see you all having them and live vicariously through you!

    @RKitty: so weird about the perfume!!

    speaking of washers... have you ever cleaned out the lint trap in your washer? i can't even find mine (dind't know washers had lint traps, too...). is this a DIY thing, or call a professional thing?

    @brownepiano: get well soon!

    i washed the 3 new outfits i bought (2 are the options for take home outfit), and probably should rewash all the baby stuff that has been in storage... but haven't yet.

    -30w5d and feeling like a massive blimp

    PS I totally ripped my abdominal muscles (linea alba) near my belly button. Like it hurt and then suddenly it went from round to scooped out right there. Pretty bummed--over 9 weeks to go +/- and I don't want it to rip apart more.

    How is everyone feeling?

    @pastemoo: oh man that sounds painful!

    Doing good over here. First OB appointment tomorrow. Hoping to get a game plan for going forward (ie how often for ultrasounds, do I need NSTs, etc) because of the two vessel cord.

    @Mrs. Champagne: FIRST?!

    and it was but it was only like 2-3 minutes. it was pretty weird.

    @pastemoo: so weird! Yeesh. Pregnancy is hard. Haha.
    And yes first!! I see a family doctor until now and she basically acted like she had no clue about the cord! Frustrating to have no idea what the plan will be. Hopefully the OB tomorrow is helpful.

    @meadow: @pastemoo: It was weird! I opened my dryer and it was like walking into florist shop. I'm very sensitive to floral smells so it wasn't a good moment. Thankfully they smell a lot less after the second wash.

    @pastemoo: I guess my washer has a lint trap? It's a little trap door in the front of my washer. I open the door and there's a tube with a handle and a little hose. I have to drain about a cup of water out of a hose and then pull out the tube thingy and wash it. My guide told me to do it every 3-4 months but I do it probably 6-8 months and I clean the seals and run it with hot water and vinegar too. I'll have to do it today or tomorrow actually because I washed my bras last night and this morning they smell nasty musty so my washer needs a cleaning anyways. So I'd check your manual or google your model and find the manual online. It should be a DIY thing.

    And poor muscles... that doesn't sound fun at all

    @Mrs. Champagne: I don't think I could have waited this long to go to an OB with an oddity like two vessel cords! I hope the appointment goes smoothly for you.

    @pastemoo: oh no, sorry about your abdominals! I've been wondering if I have diastasic recti, my belly kind of dips at my belly button, but no discomfort.

    @pastemoo: OH MY GOSH!!! That doesn't sound comfortable. Did it rip because of an activity you were doing (if so - let me know so I TOTALLY avoid that maneuver!) or was it just like belly expanding...la la la....riiiiip! Yikes!

    @Mrs. Champagne: Good luck at the OB tomorrow -- hope you finally get answers and a plan

    I just loaded up my freezer with 6 frozen crock pot dinners in ziplock bags. The plan being that each should be enough for two meals - so 12 nights taken care of there. Later this week I'll work on some pasta dishes and if I'm feeling ambitious, a pot of chili!

    I went to see "Miracles from Heaven" in the theater and it was a great movie. I'm a huge sap when it comes to movies so I cried a ton and wished I brought tissues instead of blowing my nose in the theater napkins My mom leaned over to me at the end of the movie and was surprised with how much crying I did. Which is funny because she has seen my sappy movie-ness in action many times. So either pregnancy makes me MORE sappy, or it is has been that long since my mom and I saw a movie together!

    The babies were active toward the beginning of the movie when I was having some popcorn but I couldn't get my mom to feel them. They were also shy over the weekend when we were with family for Easter. It cracks me up how they will be kicking kicking kicking, I grab someone's hand to put on my belly, then silence :-p. I have wondered for a while if they can sense when I put my hand on my tummy and when they do this - it makes me think they can sense it!

    I refilled my progesterone meds this weekend and wound up with generic instead of name brand -- BONUS, the pill is yellow so the leaking/discharge doesn't startle me and look like blood anymore... YAY!

    @pastemoo: I would, but I think for everyone it would depend on their frame of reference. My middle name is Lian (lee-ann) so when I see a Lia spelling or Lio I think 'EE' not a long I sound. I think with Leora you'd get a little bit of both pronunciations, but with Liora you'd constantly be spelling it for people. Actually either way, most people won't be confident spelling it so go with what you like!

    @meadow: lol my little baby likes to be shy when people try to feel her kick too!! DH can always feel her but my mom and DS haven't caught her yet. She always stops! Yay for all the freezer meals!

    @Mrs. Champagne: Glad I'm not alone there!

    I was just sitting on the couch and my arm was resting on my belly. Baby kicked so hard that my arm was jostled. SO STRONG!

    I then made my husband watch my belly without lifting up my shirt and he was shocked to see the movement and didn't believe at first that it wasn't me twitching. HAHA.

    @meadow: good job with the freezer meals! I think I'm going to get started on those in a few weeks. I took a video of my belly moving, SO freaky!

  12. starlitsky

    clementine / 795 posts

    @meadow: @MrsKRB: I haven't been able to see my belly moving from the outside yet, but I do feel like the kicks are getting stronger, so maybe soon?!

    Speaking of kicks, has anyone started counting kicks yet? My OB said I should be feeling 6/hour while I've read 10/hour on some sites. It kind of makes me nervous because there are certain times of day that I feel 10+ in less than an hour but other times of the day I feel like I only get a couple in an hour. Is that normal?

    @pastemoo: eek sorry to hear about your muscle thing! @MrsKRB: I have a dip at my belly button too but I had it before I got pregnant so I just figured it was from flab/excess fat lol.

    @Mrs. Champagne: Let us know how your OB appt goes tomorrow! That's crazy that it's your first one!

  14. meadow

    persimmon / 1272 posts

    @starlitsky: I am NO expert....but I think it is totally normal to have quieter times of day. I have read in many places that being active during the day (not even exercise --- but just being up and moving around) is like rocking the baby and they are more likely to be asleep.

    I ABSOLUTELY feel more kicks when I've been sitting for a while or in the evening when I am often on the couch doing work, knitting, or reading the internet.

    My OBs haven't mentioned counting kicks, which I like. I feel like if I notice a significant decrease in movement then maybe I'd try to count......but otherwise I'm not.

  15. Mrs. Champagne

    coconut / 8483 posts

    @starlitsky: I think the kick counts start around 28 weeks. If I'm out and about (yesterday for example we were at the zoo for a few hours) I don't feel anything. But sitting down I feel a lot. I think when I was pregnant with my son the midwives said if I realized I haven't felt much movement lie down and have water and set the timer for 2 hours. Should feel 10 within that time frame. Anytime I did it I felt 10 pretty quick once I started paying attention.

  16. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

    @starlitsky: I'm not counting kicks because I think it will stress me out. As long as I feel her moving throughout the day I'm good! But like others have said I feel movement differently throughout the day - yesterday I was cooking and cleaning for Easter and I was on my feet all day and didn't feel her much.

    @Mrs. Champagne: oh fair enough, I wanted to see my family doc but couldn't find an OB that would agree to take me starting at 28 weeks... Bummer!
    @RKitty: thanks for they washer advice! I'll find the manual online. So weird with the perfume! I wonder what it was!

    @meadow: yay yellow pills! And same, baby is suddenly shy with a hand there.
    I'm not doing kick counts but 10 am and 10pm seem to be prime time for the long term major kicking.
    @starlitsky: I think they all say to eat something and see if that causes movement if you don't hit your #.
    I was just walking when it happened but not long before I had my son up in a piggy back ride...

    Off my OB's website - After 24 weeks your baby should move on a regular schedule. If you do not feel her move on a regular schedule, drink a glass of cold water and lay on your left side. If she moves 5 times in an hour she is ok, but if she doesn’t, come in immediately so we can evaluate her.

    I've learned that sometimes my little quy will be quiet but if I lay down on my left he almost always moves within 5 minutes.

    @pastemoo: I think the clothes had been washed with scented laundry soap and the rewash with an unscented soap kicked into overdrive.

    And my guy seems like to the 10am/10pm move schedule too.

    My Ob went well. Typically you just get seen by whoever picks up your file that day, but you're allowed to request a specific doctor for the first appointment so I asked for the one that delivered my son. She was so so nice.

    Reassured me that everything is fine with the umbilical cord. Told me the plan going forward (growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks).

    I also went in firmly wanting a c section. She agreed with me and it's scheduled for June 24! I go back in two weeks for my next appointment.

    Thanks for all the recommendations on which detergent to use. :))

    @Pastemoo: Husband & I both weighed 7 lbs 7 oz at birth. I only have a few newborn outfits (maybe three) which I went ahead & washed. Thinking he may wear them at the hospital but bringing 0-3 just in case.
    Ugh pregnancy is so lovely. That sounds painful. Have you had any luck looking up exercises or things to do to help prevent it from happening more? I know in one of my classes they told me to lay on the floor propped up on my elbows so you're not flat on your back & to raise each leg up 10x for 3 sets daily.. It is suppose to help those lower core muscles, not sure if that would be something to help with your case but thought I'd share.

    @Mrs.Champagne: Glad your OB appointment went good. How exciting to have a set date. Little under three months!

    @Starlitsky: I haven't started counting kicks, if I notice I haven't felt him move I will gulp a glass of water & be still. I usually feel him almost immediately.

    Went to the OB yesterday. Little Guy is weighing in at 3 lbs 5 oz which according to a few sites he is about a pound heavier than average, so that's that... My OB said I just barely passed my GD test and he wants me to just watch my sugar intake since he is already measuring bigger than average.. I haven't really had a sweet tooth this pregnancy but I have been drinking some sweet tea here & there, so I guess I will cut them out. Also plan to watch my carb intake as well. I know a few of you ladies have GD, what number of carbs do you try to stay under a day?

    Hope everyone is having a good week!

    @MMcAlli: yes seems so official!

    @MrsKRB: I didn't. But I tore horribly. If it happens again which is likely I could have some not so good long term side effects.

    @Mrs. Champagne: Glad to hear your appointment went well!!

    My back has been hurting more the past couple days - I think my rib cage is going through another growth spurt - ugg. Not a fan.....I put on a "bra extender" this morning to see if that helps - I was home yesterday and had to ditch the bra by 3pm which is way earlier than normal!

    I noticed some new purplish vein thing on the back of my knee yesterday. Its funny because I can't really see it - can't bend over far enough or bend my leg in close enough. I stood in front of the mirror laughing at myself

    @starlitsky: this LO moves way more than my first, so I haven't been concerned enough to do kick counts. He is moving pretty much day and night, whereas my first had 1-2 prime times per day.

    @Mrs. Champagne: that's cool to know when things will be done!! Lol, I hope to go into labor naturally, but I loved having an end date with my first due to scheduled induction.

    I'm definitely slowing down too. Except apparently I carry small because everyone is surprised when I tell them I'm 30 weeks. Maybe they are just bad at doing the math in their heads!

    Post op appointment today. I'm going to ask a lot of questions and hoping I can drive. Pregnant, tired, toddler, cold weather, stuck at home, and one handed is not going too well.

    Thanks everyone for your input on the kick counts!

    Hit 30 weeks today! The weeks are flying by but overall I feel like I've been pregnant for a long time.

    @MMcAlli: I haven't been counting carb grams, I just try to stay generally low carb and eat more veggies and protein than starches. I do occasionally have some treats but try to walk or exercise after to keep my blood sugar down.

    @brownepiano: I tell people I'm 6 months and I catch them all the time doing double glances at my belly. I wear clothes that kind of hide the belly so it just looks like extra fat...

    I did discover last night that I can pull my clothes snug over my belly and watch it move... It was a weird mix of fascination and creepiness.... (I'm sure I could do it with out a shirt but I was still at work....)

    Had my fetal echocardiogram this morning - got a thumbs up from the doctor. He saw no signs of defects (YAY!!!) and I got to peek at my babies! Both of their heads are snuggled together on my left side - which is cute and makes me think they are enjoying each other's company :). One baby is literally lying against my cervix with its spine facing "out". So that's lovely. Makes me wonder about all of the low punches I've been feeling. I guess they could be that baby's hands.....

    It was great to have a reassuring appointment! (This is the first of four in 7 days - so I'm going to be on overload then withdraw again :-p)

    The doctor had me roll from back lying to side lying a couple times during the appointment to get a different angle. I felt like such a whale trying to roll over after lying on my back for an extended period. HAHA.

    so I am not keeping up well, so sorry if these things have been covered - but let's compare notes on if others are having these issues:

    1. I am feel shooting crotch pains more lately when I am walking - not sure I would call it lightning crotch lol, but uncomfortable - just bc baby is getting heavier maybe?
    2. I am having a lot more pains/cramping on my stomach lately when I am walking. I have been doing a bad job of hydrating lately, so I guessing that is that, but I dunno. It is annoying! Again maybe it's just bc everything is heavier?

    so... I signed up for a Birchbox subscription yesterday! I'm excited to get a few little goodies in he mail each month to maybe make me not feel like such a slob these last few months of pregnancy!

    @meadow: thanks!

    I got my stitches out and now I'm just back to a small splint! Going back to driving has been wonderful. Getting DS out of the house makes the pregnancy exhaustion a tiny bit better.

    @runnerd: I think I get the same kind of crotch attacks. Mine usually are when I just start standing/walking from a sitting position though. But I've been dealing with them for a while now so I hardly notice...

    I got to do my 1 hr glucose test this morning... along with like four other women at my doctors office! It wasn't that bad the drink was not as nasty as I feared.

    But my Fundal measurements put me at 3 week ahead! This is the first time they've measure me so I'm not sure where it really stands but they want to keep a close eye on growth the next few weeks.
