@MMcAlli: sorry you're not feeling well either. With my first it started around 5.5 weeks and was mostly gone by 9 weeks. Hope it's quick for you! I feel so guilty sometimes because I am literally regretting getting pregnant because of how badly I feel! It will be worth it in the end, but time moves so slowly when you're feeling crappy. Idk how people with HG do it! I'd never have another if I went through that. I'm already feeling like I don't want to go through this again! My husband wants 4, so he's going to have to get used to the idea of only 2!

@MMcAlli: @catomd00: plenty of people who really want to be pregnant do not enjoy the feelings of being pregnant. Totally normal, right?
cherry / 154 posts
@CATOMDOO : You don't know how nice it is to hear you say that. I felt like I was alone.. I pray Friday's U/S will lift my mood & I will become excited again. I cannot imagine feeling like this & then having a young child to take care of. I respect all of you who are doing that.
@PASTEMOO: I'm realizing now it is apparently pretty common. We are not alone.

@catomd00: kudos to managing preg-somnia with a toddler! Last night I couldn't go back to sleep until around 5 am and now I'm super tired at work.
@MrsKRB: @MMcAlli: yay for ultrasounds this week! Can't wait to hear/see how everyone's goes!

Yay for ultrasounds! Looks awesome! It seems like so long before I can see my little peanut. (Another 4 weeks and 3 days
)
I think I'm having my first bouts of MS. I felt queasy after breakfast pretty badly. I was a bit worried about throwing up. It just eventually went away though. I felt fine after lunch, but after dinner I felt queasy again. It wasn't as intense as before though. I'm glad we can all commiserate in our discomfort! I too want this baby so badly, but this sucks.

@Mrs. Peanut: Good luck, I hope it gets better.
I'm jealous of all the ultrasounds.
On an interesting tangent, I can very clearly see my uterus pushing out. (My last baby was posterior, never could tell where my uterus was). Definitely still under my belly/flab, but pushing a good 3 inches over the pubic bone, like there is a grapefruit sitting on my bladder. so bizarre but weirdly pretty cool.

@Pastemoo - That's great news, sounds exciting to be able to see a difference. Happy for you!
I'm on countdown until next week for first early scan (6th) - both excited and terrified. Hubby is already getting attached to the idea (as am I really), but nervous to do so until we have passed the danger zone from last time (8 weeks).
Does anyone have any up-to-date research around the effects of ultasound/doppler on baby? I read an article over the weekend about potential impacts, though their sources were from studies in 1993/2002!
However, I also read that taking extra folate might help with alleviating nausea. (I need to stop googling...)
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@Madyetbeautiful: b6 for nausea, i have an rx, 25mg, 3x/day, ask your ob.

My symptoms were really toned down in the last week or so, but we had our dating ultrasound this morning and all was well. Heart rate of 155, and baby's measuring ahead by a few days, so it's aligned with LMP instead of O date. New EDD is June 8. It feels just a little more real now.

@pastemoo: @MMcAlli: totally normal! You're definitely not alone! I'm actually feeling a little better today (I'll be 9w tomorrow) so enjoying it while I can.
I've been having some pinching in my right ovary, so I'm hoping the cyst isn't growing. Counting down until next weeks ultrasound to check. Really hope it's shrinking!!
@Madyetbeautiful: I haven't done any research on u/s or Doppler use. My life rule is everything in moderation. Too much research can drive one crazy, especially about baby stuff! I never wanted a Doppler with my first, but I kind of do this time, but not enough to spend the $.

@Madyetbeautiful: 8 weeks is "danger zone" marker too! How far along will you be at the u/s?
pear / 1593 posts
Got my second betas back, went from 450 to 2448 but that was over 4 days bc of weekend. Averages out to doubling every 39 hours, so looking ok so far. first appt and u/s scheduled for 11/12 at about 7.5 weeks.

I'm finally setting up my first appointment. I know I'm the odd man out, but with a toddler running around, I'm not ready for the monthly appointments all the time yet. As a part time WOH mom, I'm already juggling enough scheduling problems.
Anyone else feel like their appointments are kind of pointless?
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@brownepiano: yeah, they are. But if something is wrong it is good to know

@Lately: yay
@runnerd: nice betas!
@brownepiano: I don't feel that they're pointless, but it's my first so that's probably why!

@mrskrb With my first I was worried about everything and every appointment and called the Dr right away. I definitely am more relaxed this time and just letting my body do it's thing.
@pastemoo True. I'm getting antsy to tell people but don't want to do so till I go to the doctor so I guess I care about the appointments a little!

And I'm sorry for everyone else with MS. Mine thankfully hasn't been as bad this time. I suspect it is half a mental game for me and I am more busy this time which actually helps. I'm also smarter about eating right away when I feel it coming. Good luck!
coffee bean / 30 posts
@runnerd - according to LMP I should be 6+4 at the u/s. However, I have slightly longer cycles (31-35 days), so am expecting to be more like 5+4 ish. Very nervous, as only ever had bad news at u/s, so keeping fingers tightly crossed! They don't test much at my Dr (had to really push to get initial progesterone test and none of them could advise on the result), so will be glad to see specialist next week. Actually I'm loving having symptoms - however uncomfortable they make me, they're little reminders that things are progressing.

So I just realized I haven't updated on here at all! Aside from sleeping half of my life away (epically tired lately), I'm usually at work and trying to keep the house from going into complete disarray. My nausea has slammed into me like a freight train today at 5w, 3d and I'm currently on the couch trying to ride through another wave. My husband woke me up from my nap when he came home from work and I've been sick ever since. Had some early this morning but not this bad. Here's hoping it doesn't get worse.
@Madyetbeautiful: Good luck on your u/s! Keep us posted for sure. I'm glad you got a new specialist, too. Sometimes Drs aren't as helpful as we'd like lol
@runnerd: Glad your lvls are looking good!! Excited to see what the u/s looks like
Everyone's updates sound awesome I'm so excited for all of us!!

Oh I spoke too soon! It's the middle of the night here and I have just had some pale pink spotting and hot flash. I'm having a total freak out, as this feels all too familiar... Please don't let this be ANOTHER mc! Will phone epu in the morning to see if I can see anyone, though doubt they could see anything this early on.

@Mrs. Peanut: aww I hope the time goes quickly! I can't believe my ultrasound day is almost here; 3 weeks ago I was thinking it would be SO far away!
@pastemoo: ooh that is exciting! I'm definitely not showing yet and still don't really feel pregnant!
@Madyetbeautiful: @runnerd: I feel like 8 weeks is the danger zone for me too because my friends who have had losses were all around the 6-8 week mark. Hoping our beans stick!!
@brownepiano: I'm waiting to tell people (family and close friends) until after my first appt too. After this appt I'm not sure how often I'll go in, I will ask tomorrow!
@Hazel27: I hope your nausea gets better!!
I'm getting nervous about my ultrasound tomorrow! I had some nausea over the weekend but it's pretty much gone now so that makes me worry, plus I had a bad dream last night. @MrsKRB: how are you feeling about your ultrasound tomorrow?
clementine / 795 posts
@Madyetbeautiful: oh no!! I hope it's just normal spotting that goes away. Fingers crossed for you!!
coffee bean / 30 posts
@Starlitsky: Thanks, really hope so. Spotting has stopped completely this morning, just quite crampy which is stressing me out. Trying to relax, as boobs still hurt and took another test, which is darker than ever. Spotting has just never been a good sign for me in the past - they're getting me in for a scan this afternoon. Know they probably won't see much, but they can at least tell me if anything looks wrong with uterus.

@Madyetbeautiful: oh good, glad spotting has stopped! hoping for good news from your scan today, even if it's too early to see much!
nectarine / 2465 posts
@starlitsky: this will be my third ultrasound, but first with my Obgyn. I'm excited but still pretty nervous! What time is your appointment?
@Madyetbeautiful: spotting is normal, but I know how scary it must feel! Fx for a great ultrasound today!

@starlitsky : Can't wait to hear about your u/s today!
@madeyetbeautiful : Glad the spotting stopped. I know that can be scary. Hope your u/s goes good today!

@MrsKRB: oh that's right, you got to see the HB last time, right? My appt is a little over an hour from now, eek!
@MMcAlli: thank you!! Yours is on Friday, right? How exciting!!

Yikes, I've only been a part of this board for just over a week and already I'm behind!
So excited for all of you having ultrasounds and seeing your little beans! I have ages to wait until I even have my first appointment with the midwife, and it will be a few weeks after that before I even have my first u/s! I was so sure of my dates when I called my GP, but now I'm starting to worry that maybe I am off. I'll mention it at my midwife appt, when I think I will be 8 weeks, but my main concern is that I don't want to miss my window of opportunity for the NT scan...
@Madyetbeautiful: Glad the spotting has stopped! As for the cramping, with my first I had horrific cramping until about 8 weeks. Everyone said mild cramping was normal, but mine would come in fifteen minute waves a few times a day and they would have me doubled over in pain, gasping for breath. They were awful! They subsided at 8 weeks though and the midwife just chalked it up to my uterus stretching. Hope that's all it is for you!
This might just be a byproduct of having a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old to chase around, but I don't feel the slightest bit pregnant. I'm not tired, I don't have bigger or sore boobs, no trouble sleeping, not peeing any more than usual, and feel even more energetic than I have the past few months! I didn't have any MS with either of my first two LOs, so I'm assuming I won't have any this time either, but with the other two, I was absolutely exhausted and had the other symptoms mentioned above from before I even got my BFP. I'm definitely not complaining, and really think it's just because I'm too distracted taking care of my other two to even think about the fact that I'm pregnant again, but it just feels so weird! The fact that I honestly forget about 50% of the time that I'm pregnant is a little bit crazy...
Anyway, looking forward to hearing how everyone's ultrasounds go!

@Ree723 - that's extremely comforting to know about your cramping, thank you for sharing (though obvs unpleasant for you at the time!). Is your first scan around 12 weeks then?
Thanks for all of the words of support. The scan was fine, though I underestimated my fear of that place (was shaking like a leaf, ridiculous I know but after having just horrible news 3 times previously...). Uterus and cervix looks like it should, no obvious bean as yet (though there was the 'gap' where it should show in a week or so and the right signs of thickened lining etc). Just glad there was no obvious cause of bleeding etc (hoping it stays away!). They are running my progesterone and hcg (today and Fri), but hugely frustrating as they are refusing progesterone supplements currently.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@starlitsky: I'm definitely not showing to anyone but myself. At 9 weeks, uterus should be 9cm above the pubic bone, and since the morning sickness is making me lose weight, I can see it. If I took a picture, I don't think you would even know what I'm talking about. Definitely not "showing."@Hazel27: I hope it gets better. I've been sleeping like 10hrs most nights, it is ridiculous.@Madyetbeautiful: Scary. I'm glad that the ultrasound looked good and I hope things go well! <3@Ree723: do you have the option of a NT scan? I think I will only get the one scan at 20ish weeks unless something weird is going on. I'm not really sure how that works.
pear / 1593 posts
@Madyetbeautiful: sorry about the spotting - glad your scan was good, I had a tad bit this morning that's gone now. Not that it's that comforting but I have miscarried with no spotting, and carried to term with spotting every week up 2nd tri, so it really doesn't mean much to me anymore about the health of pregnancy!
coffee bean / 30 posts
@Starlitsky: How did your scan go?
@Runnerd: Sorry to hear about your spotting too, but glad it's stopped again. Interesting to hear about your past experiences of spotting - good for different perspectives and rallying support.
@MrsKRB: Your scan looks great! Congrats!
@BLA: Your last experience sounds awful! Glad you've got the chance of a better experience this time.
pear / 1593 posts
@BLA: oh wow, that's quite the experience!! I'm glad you are in better hands this time!
clementine / 795 posts
@Madyetbeautiful: yay glad your scan was ok and hoping you can see your bean at the next scan (or will it still be too early?).
My ultrasound went well! We were able to see/hear the HB (136) and I'm measuring 7w1d. I graduated from my RE (already! This was my first/only time back since I got pregnant) and have my first OB appt next week. I also got some blood work done today and took the 1 hour glucose test. It's starting to feel more real!
@pastemoo: ah I see! Well I'm definitely not showing yet even to myself lol.
@MrsKRB: yay! Looks great! Is one of the circles the yolk sac? Was the HB higher or lower than your last scan?
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@BLA: That's terrifying. I'm glad baby saved your life!
I had a scary birth experience, don't want to talk much, but hoping for VBAC this time.
nectarine / 2465 posts
@BLA: that's really scary! 6-1-16 would be a fun birthday!
@starlitsky: woohoo! Moving into the obgyn makes it feel more real, I think I have no idea if that's the yolk sac, I think one circle is head and 1 is body? That's what he measured anyway. I didn't ask any questions, I was just so excited my baby was growing! We saw the heart beating strong, but he didn't measure or listen to it, he said new research says it's not 100% safe in the first tri?
clementine / 795 posts
@MrsKRB: ooh really? I'll have to ask my OB about that! Did you notice a difference in the ultrasound machines used by the RE vs OB?
@runnerd: thank you!! hoping yours goes well in a couple of weeks!
