@swedishfish: eh, they have to mail it to the mayo clinic, that's the closest place to us that does the testing I guess! Perks of living in BFE.

@LazyLightning: I hope you get your results soon!
I had my growth ultrasound today. At exactly 35 weeks the baby is measuring 5.6 pounds. Not too big, not too small. I'm happy about that
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: Sounds good to me! I am so curious how big this baby is - the "average" says 7 lbs, 20 inches this week, but obviously that is just an estimate. I can't imagine a 7lb person in my belly!
Well we are pretty much ready at this point - having the car seat installation checked tomorrow and my husband is working on my labor playlist. My bag is packed and I have a list for his bag. We have some little things I'd like to get done, but nothing that can't wait.

We have an ultrasound tomorrow to check my low amniotic fluid. Wish me luck! I might end up going over to L&D to have a baby if my fluid levels have dropped. I can't decide if I should rest tonight to try to keep my fluid levels up, or if that's pointless and I should just finish getting the house ready for baby to arrive.

@grizz: rest! I've read things on here about other mom's saying they wished they had rested and slept as much as possible. After all, labor is quite the work-out! Good luck! Let us know how it goes!!

@grizz: definitely rest! Good luck tomorrow! Keep us posted if possible.

@grizz: Ahh, thinking of you!
So I was up on and off all night with period cramps. Finally at 4am I got up had some cereal and hung out with the cats in the living room and the cramps went away. At my appt with my midwife yesterday she said the cramps and loose stools are my body getting ready for labor, but I guess theres no way to know how long this phase will last? She said she was fine with baby coming any time now. What?? I'm not! Maybe I am??
Okay, end rant. Anyone else feeling twinges and cramps?
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@knittylady: on a regular basis! I feel like this will last for a while for me anyway. I had a semi panic attack last night that I'm not prepared for this... Not the labor part because I know that will be difficult but the parenting part!!

@knitty lady: i remember learning in lamaze class that your body will start producing loose stools as it prepares for labor. Im 35 weeks now, and started getting "looser" stools starting last week - i had major constipation & rabbit pellets for the most part of this pregnancy.
i also started getting more period like cramps in the past few days - definitely not enough to count or get worried about. but def. makes me more anxious cause labor seems so close and real now.

@knittylady: @swedishfish: @yourekindapretty: I'm in the same boat with the cramps, loose stools etc and have heard the same things you ladies have. I don't know that I'm getting any closer to delivery though! It seems to follow a pattern in that I feel it at the end of the day/evening and it will subside as I lay down and sleep and be gone in the morning. Some days are worse than others.
I'm starting to feel ready where I had not felt ready AT ALL for the longest time, but I go back and forth.
Thanks for noticing my avatar swedishfish! I figured after 7 months of membership it was time to personalize

@Revel: It's making me look forward to summer: lemonade, sangria etc., Mmmm.

@grizz: Good luck! I hope everything is okay with your appointment today!
@knittylady: @Revel: @swedishfish: @yourekindapretty: I'm a little jealous that everyone seems to be ramping up for this labor business. I'm not ready (and suspect that I won't be until I have no other choice, lol!), but how reassuring that things are starting to be on track!
Today was the first day that I could pinpoint an actual cramp. And then, for some crazy reason, I had to run back into the house because of sudden overwhelming nausea. It faded away after a bit, so I suspect that Flipper was squishing something important, heh.
pear / 1563 posts
@knittylady: And we'll actually be able to drink things like sangria!
@Espion: I wouldn't lose hope that your body isn't getting ready, I'm sure it is - I feel a lot more nausea these days, and I think that's commonly and "end of pregnancy" thing. You might also be lucky to just be feeling good!

I am just starting to feel the cramping, too-on and off all afternoon. Mostly just makes me want to lie down and NOT be sitting at work
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
My leg cramps were so bad last night I had to wake DH to stretch my foot back for me twice. I'm drinking so much water too. Doctor's appointment later today! I wonder if they'll give me a BPP today since I just had my growth ultrasound on Monday.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: I have an appt. today too! Probably nothing exciting other than getting my GBS results back. I really hope I don't have it so I don't have to be on antibiotics. Fingers crossed.
papaya / 10473 posts
Updating - the ultrasound showed my amniotic fluid had gone up .75 cm! Not much, but its not going down so I'll take it! My doctor was happy with it. We can let baby boy decide when he wants to make his debut on his own now, which is a huge relief!
pear / 1563 posts
@grizz: Great news about the fluid! I hope it's smooth sailing from here.
@tlcbaby: I didn't realize how nervous I was about the GBS results until they came back negative for me. I really was so unsure about the antibiotics even if I tested positive and didn't want to have to deal with that issue. I hope you get a negative result!
@swedishfish: Ugh, leg cramps. Good luck at your appointment today!
papaya / 10473 posts
@knittylady: I've been craving lemonade like crazy! I've gotten one from the lemonade stand near my work almost every day this week.
@swedishfish: Ouch I HATE those! They are the one thing that make me doubt I can handle unmedicated labor because I always freak out when I have them. Good luck at your appt today!
@tlcbaby: Good luck at your appt today too! I can't believe how few we all have left!
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@grizz: Congrats on the good appointment!
I also got negative for GBS but my midwife said if I go past 41 weeks they'll have to retest as the results are only good for 5 weeks.
Anyone else getting a resurgence of hunger?? I had actually noticed my hunger going down for the past several weeks but the past few days I need all the food. Weird.
papaya / 10473 posts
@knittylady: Yep. The baby definitely dropped and now I have room for food again. I just ate two lunches. The shame
pear / 1563 posts
@knittylady: Ugh, never heard that about the GBS. That's part of my issue with the whole protocol - they don't really know if you have it at delivery even if they're giving you the antibiotics.
I can't really tell about my hunger right now - I'm still not getting big meals in but I can almost always eat, haha.
nectarine / 2750 posts
Yea, GBS negative! Everything else at the appt. was normal so nothing exciting to report, except baby is still head down.
@knittylady: hunger is back in full force! I am usually up about 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning for a snack and hungry all through the day.
The only bummer today is that my friend dropped off a DVD with our maternity pics, but my computer says it is empty and she just left for Kansas for a month. Hoping there is some way I can access them.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tlcbaby: yay for the GBS negative but boo about the empty DVD. I hope you can get a hold of your friend.
So I had some cramps while walking today that made me stop and bend over a little bit. I had to breathe through them. Then I went to my doctor's appointment. I asked to make the rest of my appointments since I'm now into weeklies and the doctor said fine just tell the secretary you need a biophysical profile with each appointment...the secretary then tells me that BPPs are only done on Monday or Thursday mornings. When I told her I work and I'm trying to save my sick time she told me that work needs to understand that I'm having a baby. I was speechless.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: Damn - accommodating much? Sounds like she has a great bedside manner. Sorry about that.
They always ask me if I am cramping/having contractions now and they said it may just be that way until I have the baby. So I guess I'll spend the next few weeks always wondering if labor is around the corner.
nectarine / 2750 posts
Oh I forgot to say, I put the maternity photo disc in our desktop and the photos showed up? Who knows! But I love them!
pear / 1664 posts
@swedishfish: Well, my work told me that if I want to take any maternity leave before my baby is born, it needs to come out of my vacation time, not sick (and they'll start my FMLA too, ugh.). I generally try to make my Dr. appointments around noontime and then just put it as 'lunch' on my calendar... would that work for you with work? Yay for inflexible scheduling!
My cholestasis test is still not back. The hospital is perplexed why it's taking so long, they even called the lab. Could be a few more days still. But I was GBS negative which is good! Have a growth ultrasound on Tuesday; looking forward to it.
I've been getting the cramps in the evenings too but nothing comes from them... they're gone by morning.
pear / 1563 posts
@swedishfish: @LazyLightning: My cramping/BH are just like LazyLightning describes - they come on in the evening and are gone by morning. Good luck with your growth ultrasounds and g getting the BPP scheduled.
@tlcbaby: Saw the few pics you posted, they're so great! You guys look fantastic.
papaya / 10473 posts
@swedishfish: @LazyLightning: @Revel: I cramp all night and wake up fine in the morning. So annoying. I'm to the point where people feel the need to check in with me and ask if there are any signs of baby yet, and my mild annoyance with this will probably be full blown rage by the time I hit my due date.
@tlcbaby: I love your maternity pics! They are so sweet.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@grizz: thanks! And I am getting so tired of the same ppl at work every day telling me I am about ready to pop and that they hope I don't have the baby at work. Trust me-I have no desire to have my baby here!! It is so hard to just smile and laugh it off sometimes.
pear / 1664 posts
@tlcbaby: gawd. same here. and strangers asking if I'm having twins, if I'm overdue, and 'oh don't have the baby right here' - omg.
papaya / 10473 posts
@tlcbaby: @LazyLightning: My favorite is all the people who've asked if I'm dilated yet. Did you seriously just ask about my cervix?! I wrote it off as something coworkers asked since I work in women's health...but then when a dietician from another department asked, along with a random neighbor, two people I barely know from church, several of my friends, and my MIL (incessantly) I realized it was not work exclusive. So, so awkward.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@grizz: how did you respond? I don't even know what I would say.
Well to lighten the mood-at my water fitness class yesterday the instructor, who is also a lifeguard, said that in their manual it specifically says not to stick your fingers in a woman's vagina if she goes into labor while in the pool. Also, it said to lay down some newspaper underneath them if you have to help deliver the baby. I hope I would have time to get out of the pool area if I went into labor!
papaya / 10473 posts
@tlcbaby: With the people I'm not close to I saw something like "I'm surprised you feel comfortable asking me that" or "I'm really embarrassed you asked me that". Seems to get my point across. With the other people I just turn bright red and tell them my doctor doesn't do cervical checks since we are hoping for an unmedicated birth, and that she only does them for induction candidates. Its hilarious that your water fitness instructor's manual covers emergency childbirth on the pool deck!
