@grizz: Gah, craziness! My sister told me I cannot have the baby today because I am babysitting her three kids tonight so they can go to a wedding reception (they don;t get out much). Luckily, my mom is coming over to help me out so I am not all alone.

@tlcbaby: you have definitely dropped! Good luck wrangling three kids all night!

@tlcbaby: looking lower!
And I second the heart stopping when I see the June board get updated! For the past few days now I've been holding my breath thinking one of you is in labor!

How are you accomplishing what you need to do BB (before baby)? My fatigue is so overwhelming today that I just want to stay on the couch for the rest of the day.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@tlcbaby: Definitely lower!! This kid is still curled in a ball under my diaphragm, heh. I hope the babysitting goes well...I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

@swedishfish: My stepmother and sister came up from Boston today and have just totally taken over in an amazing way. I think I will feel so much more prepared when they're done! They're being amazing!! I can hardly get off the couch without needing a nap or a snack.

@swedishfish: I just do it in bits and pieces - like maybe one task a night after work so I don't feel overwhelmed. I've tried dividing everything up over the past few weeks.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@swedishfish: I didn't roll/launch/eject myself out of bed until 9am this morning (which is crazy, because I am not a late sleeper). But I've got to keep going because we're still in the midst of packing. Our moving trucks get here June 29th and DH has been working like crazy, which means he has little time to devote to helping me pack.
Since we're moving so far away and the move is essentially paid "by the pound", I am regularly faced with a disturbing choice: if someone got me a baby gift that I really dislike (i.e. a super fluffy blanket that the kid could suffocate himself on), am I justified in sending it off to Goodwill? I know it doesn't weigh that much in the grand scheme of things, but the thought of moving something 4300 miles for no reason is slightly irksome. No one would probably know, but my conscience would.

@Espion: do you currently live near family? You could always ask to store some stuff there. But I returned a few things from my baby shower so don't feel bad about it. Your style and needs aren't the same as others!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@swedishfish: Unfortunately no where near. Most of the baby stuff in question is the type that people give without receipts. It is not a lot, because most gave us gift cards (in anticipation of our move), but just a few things that I still feel really guilty about leaving.

@Espion: what about using vacuum bags to condense everything?

After an hours long early morning dance party thrown by the baby, my right hip has given out on me several times this morning. I'm afraid to get up from my chair! Fun note though - during the dance rave that I was not invited to, I felt my baby's foot kicking out. It's so tiny!

@swedishfish: Woah! That is what it felt like to me the other night before the baby dropped. It was like insane movement in there and then I could barely get off the couch! It is odd, but fun to watch.
While I was babysitting last night, I told my five year old nephew that I was ready for my baby to come out and he said "Well lets go to the hospital and get them to take it out". I told him we had to wait until the baby was ready, but then he wanted me to explain how we would know when the baby was ready so I just changed the subject.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@tlcbaby: haha I love how kids think! Let's just go and get it done! How was babysitting?
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@swedishfish: I ordered a ton of them! I hope they work.
Isn't it crazy how you call tell what is a bum, what's a foot, etc. at this point? Flipper doesn't move as wildly as he did in his "mixed martial arts" days, but his body parts are so much more noticeable.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@swedishfish: It was fun, but I am SO glad my mom was there. My sister has a five year old boy, two year old boy and four month old girl and the boys wanted to play Wii and play tag and I don't think I could have done all of that without my mom there to be the one to actually play tag while I held the baby.

@swedishfish: How sweet! I was getting totally jabbed by a pointy foot yesterday, oddly while I was walking around. That's usually her quiet time.
I had a super busy day yesterday, tons of walking. Feeling totally beat today but no closer to labor.

@Espion: Don't feel bad in your situation! I am a ruthless editor of clutter in our house so I've returned quite a few things and donated a couple as well. It's the thought that counts I feel guilty but I just can't handle clutter, much less MOVING and unpacking it!
@swedishfish: I can distinctly feel baby's right foot in my left side at all times. Yesterday DH got to see it and it totally freaked him out! I wonder if we'll recognize any of their out-of-the-womb movements as ones we felt before they were born! This little fella definitely has distinct kicking patterns.
@tlcbaby: So glad you had help babysitting! That's a lot to wrangle And I think I commented on your other thread too, but I love your nursery! It's so cute!
Our childbirth instructor gave me til Friday to read the La Leche League breastfeeding book. This joker is long! I feel like I'm studying for a final or something!
One week since baby dropped and no action yet. I skipped church today and got no less than 12 texts asking if I was in labor hehe. The only new thing - all my lady bits are insanely sore. I'm guessing it's pressure from the baby? Anybody have anything new to report?

I'm one month from my due date, and going in for a growth scan on Thursday; doc thinks the belly is looking a little smallish. Otherwise all is well - weight gain on track, baby moving all the time, sticking her feet in my ribs and generally trying to stretch out for more room. My feet have been swelling quite a bit while at work during the week, so I'm trying to drink more fluids and keep my feet up when I can.
This weekend I packed our hospital bags and finished up the nursery, as well as put together the pack & play (that thing is a pain in the rear!) Not much else to do now except wait, I guess!

Nothing new to report here. Oh, my neighbor was due the day before me - she's in the hospital having her baby. I am quite jealous of this, as I have no signs of labor and all I want is my sickness to end!!! Oh well, 'when she's ready', right?
I went for a 1 mile walk on Friday, a 2 mile walk Sat, and a 1.5 mile walk on Sunday. Walking hurts my back in a way I've never experienced, and when I get home my feet are purple. But if baby progress is made, those 'side effects' will come to an end, right?! A lady actually pulled over and asked me if I needed a ride somewhere on Sunday, I must have looked uncomfortable!! Today it's raining so I might go walk at the mall.
I had a very small amount of pink-tinged discharge yesterday morning, I hoped was the start of losing my mucous plug. Nothing since then though. Maybe I'll be one of those where it slowly comes out in stages. Or maybe it was unrelated. *shrug*. So much 'maybe' right now!!!

Nothing new going on with me either. Honestly I almost feel like less is happening than was a week or so ago - my digestion is better, my BH seem to be more manageable, or maybe I'm just used to them.
I really feel ready around the house now at least. I'd like to make some more freezer food but if that's the only thing that doesn't get done I'm OK with it.
I'm so happy that none of the June mama's have gone super early and that these LOs are developing as they should, but I keep wondering who will go first?!?
papaya / 10473 posts
@Revel: I don't think it will be me. I'm super bummed because I had to miss my sister's beach wedding last night on my doctor's recommendation (8-9 hour drive away) just in case something happened.... and nope. No baby.
pear / 1563 posts
@grizz: Aww, that's such a bummer! 8-9 hours in the car doesn't sound fun but I'm sorry you missed it. I hope you will get to celebrate some other way with your sister after baby comes. I bowed out of an event last weekend that was a 2 hr drive just because I was not feeling the car ride.
I know you're a June 1 due date with me, and I think @LazyLightning: is June 2... who else is in the first week of June?
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@Revel: I'm JUST in the first seven days of June. Due 6/6.
@grizz: Ugh, such a bummer! Sorry you missed it
No progress here either. Waking up once a night with cramps, but peeing and drinking water gets rid of them... Red Raspberry tea drinking makes me at least feel proactive, and my BH are a bit stronger but eh...
Anyone feeling like they might bust out spicy food, pineapple or other old wives tales?
pear / 1563 posts
@knittylady: You're close too! I'm also drinking RRL and like to think it's doing something, but who knows...
I might start to get serious about the old wives tales if I go past my due date. I generally eat spicy food and have been loving pineapple the last like 10 weeks or so, so I don't know if those will work for me.
Otherwise I am trying to walk as much as possible. I live in a city and commute via public transit so I get in about a mile a day without trying too much, but I'll be upping that when I can. 3 miles on Saturday didn't do anything though!
papaya / 10473 posts
@knittylady: A midwife who was observing our Bradley class Friday night told me to do some deep water swimming to help get the baby in position and reduce my swelling. It felt really good but I don't know if it did much! I will happily bust out the pineapple because I love it... Win win if it helps me have this baby in a reasonable amount of time.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@grizz: @Revel: @knittylady: All of you are so close it's almost like a crazy sort of lottery. (Except everybody wins!) I'm June 8 so just outside of the first week.
Being exceptionally nerdy and curious, I actually looked up to see what truly triggers labor. Nobody has really figured out exactly what that first domino is that has to fall over in order to start everything going. Looks like women are still mysterious!
That being said, I've a really busy week this week, but after that I'm pulling out all the stops. (DH even asked, jokingly of course, if I could "hold off" until this weekend is over, heh. I guess I'll keep that in mind and cross my legs!)

My dumb of the day:
So I saw a recipe online for loaded nachos and of course I got instantly hungry for loaded nachos. We had some salsa left over from lunch so I shredded a little bit of cheese and melted it into what was left of the salsa and started eating that with chips. I've already downed nearly a liter and a half of water because my mouth is on fiii-yurrrr.
I nearly finished it when I realized, oh crap I'm eating spicy food! Like even spicier than what I normally can handle, which is quite a lot. We may have to name this kid Rotel...

@Espion: @Revel: i'm not putting too much stock in spicy food and pineapples bringing on labor. i've been eating majorly spicy food lately and some pineapple here and there, and everything is still intact =)
i've been doing other labor prep though ...
RRL tea: i'm up to 3 cups per day now
Dates: eating 6 per day. i like the derrie variety which is sweet but not as sweet as medjools (and is less expensive)
Walking: i try for 1.5-3.0 miles each day, but i definitely take it slowly
Kegels: when i remember to do them, 10-20 slow 3-counts and 100-200 quick pulses
Perineal massage: not pleasant, but hopefully it helps reduce tearing
i'm going in for my first (and hopefully only) pelvic exam this wednesday. just hoping baby is still head down. and then we'll be full-term come this weekend. eeks! excited for all you ladies due the first week @Revel @LazyLightning @Grizz @TLCBaby @Bisous @KnittyLady
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@knittylady: @grizz: Ha!! As far as DH is concerned, it would be sweet irony. If you are what you eat, DH would be "taco".
@softcream: That's a good thing, because I need this kid to stay put until Thursday!

I feel like I should be doing more! All I do is walk two miles a day.
I am also excited to see who goes first!

Yeah this is crazy - we are only days away from one of us having a new little one and then the floodgates will open and we'll all be mamas!
I am not planning on trying any old wives tales to start labor, I figure it'll happen when it happens. Easy to say now before my due date, we'll see if my story changes if I hit 41 weeks.
I did visit a new chiropractor today to help with my piriformis and hip pain and it really made a difference! I haven't even been able to go for walks, just swimming, but now I feel like I could handle a little walk. I have a lot of stretches and foam rolling to do at home to try and keep everything loose.

Are any of you having menstrual like cramping? Like when Your period starts.... I've been having these more and I really notice them when I'm in bed, laying down. They don't seem like BH because those feel totally different. These feel exactly like menstrual cramps....
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@jh524: Yes! Usually at least once a day for the past week. They go away when I get up and drink water. My MW said this means it's my body prepping for labor, but if something can make them go away it's not early labor....
papaya / 10473 posts
@jh524: Yep, and they were bad last night! They were taking my breath away. But nothing today!
apricot / 340 posts
@jh524 - yep - i get them too now, usually when laying down/sleeping. i woke up the other night because they were so painful and had two back to back.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@jh524: yes and apparently they're not contractions for me because I was at L&D AGAIN this morning and had a bunch but they didn't register as anything on the monitor. So I'm confused. Baby is fine - he/she just decided to not move for about 17 hours between yesterday afternoon and this morning. But as soon as that monitor went on, bam!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@jh524: Maaaaaybe one or two? I haven't really felt any pressure, consistent cramps or anything. Although my BH's seem to be more noticeable and frequent. (Before I wasn't really sure, now I'm sure.)
@swedishfish: Oh no! So scary! I'm glad everything is okay. Seriously, when I get up in the mornings, I practically jab the kid in the bum to get him to move around.
