@Circusbee: your baby will look so cute by then! At that point in my last pregnancy I saw his little arms and legs move so fast. Looked like a gummy bear. Worth the wait!
    @Mrs. Lion: congrats!
    @Tidybee: I'm so so sorry.

@Mrs. Lion: Congrats! At least for the moment we have the same due date

@tidybee: I am so, so sorry. Be kind to yourself

I spilled the beans to my two best friends at work today. We were out to lunch and one said to me "I had a dream last night that you were pregnant!" So I just said "Well I am!" It felt good to tell someone, I had been so worried people wouldn't be excited!

@cmomma17: Yay! How exciting to tell some coworkers

How is everyone doing? I all of a sudden look about 12 weeks pregnant, but at just under 8 weeks it's definitely just due to bloat and too many carbs. Ugh. Heading out to the farmer's market now to try and make this week a healthier week.

@Kbee: hi there! I feel you on the bloating and too many carbs, unfortunately. I'm just over 6w and morning sickness hit with a vengeance this week. I feel AWFUL and anything that's not a carb sounds completely unappetizing. Hopefully you can get some good fruits and veggies today

Thank god I'm on vacation… this is miserable!

@cmomma17: Glad people are excited for you!

@Kbee: I've been really lucky and felt pretty good this last week (just completely exhausted) but I haven't been feeling great today so I might not be as lucky this week.

We visited the in-laws this weekend, so we told DH's parents and then called his sister and brother. His parents didn't have much of a reaction, but I expected that so I wasn't too disappointed. I know they're happy for us deep down, they're just not the type to show it. Did anyone else make any announcements this weekend?

@cmomma17: aww that's funny that she had a dream that you were preggers!

@Kbee: I'm feeling the same, I have a little bump now, ( I'm 9 weeks on Monday ) but I think it's bump and not bloat as it's like rock hard haha.

@loopedd: Sorry you're not feeling well I hope it doesn't last long for you! At least you're on vacation though.. though it sucks you're not feeling well while on vacation haha.

@Aria: Sorry his parents didn't have much of a reaction. Did his brother and sister sound excited? I was a little surprised when we told dh's parents as well. We had B in a shirt that said I'm the big sister and apparently they noticed it right away but didn't say anything for about an hour. Then when they did say something it was just, "oh, what's that about, I noticed it when you first came.." Fine by me, hopefully MIL has actually figured out that these aren't her children, they're ours haha. ( She seems to think that B is her daughter, it's annoying.)

I'm feeling quite good, still having problems finding good food, but I'll take that over being sick any day. I'm super bummed because I have to go back to work this month so I'm trying really hard to enjoy the last few weeks. It's really busy with my mom and sister both buying new houses so moving, we're going across the country to visit Dh's family next week, then I have one week, then it's B's 1st birthday then the next day I"m back at work. So sad! At least it's only for 5ish months

No real symptoms for me, which adds to my nervousness. I was never sick with my son, but I remember being completely exhausted. I'm a bit tired lately, but nothing too horrible. I might not even remember I'm pregnant, if it weren't for the spotting all day and bumped out belly by the evening.

@Keppa: I can sympathize on the mini-bump! By the end of the day I definitely look pregnant (and I'm only 8 weeks along).

@Kbee: I was at the farmers market yesterday for that exact same reason!

We told our parents on the 4th and everyone was thrilled! Well, everyone except my MIL who reacted happy but was clearly concerned about all the work our place still needs and how we are going to manage that with the baby.... and I was like ... "um, one step at a time, luck, and lots of decaf ice lattes?"

  11. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@Keppa: @AnneBird: um is it insane that i am only 6 weeks and swear my belly is 2inches bigger than 3 weeks ago? Insane!

So i went in for an ultrasound last week at 5 weeks+4 and was measuring 5weeks+1 (probably more accurate since i ovulate late). I can go back for another either this tuesday or the following tuesday. If i go this week i will be at 6 weeks...should i hold out and wait for 7weeks or go ahead in at 6? I will have my dating ultrasound after 8 also....

  12. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Mrs. Lion: would you be exactly 6 weeks when you go back? I had an ultrasound at 6+2 and saw the heartbeat.

Um, yes on the bump. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to sleep on my belly till past 12 weeks like last time.

  13. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@swedishfish: depends on the actual date of conception. Going by LMP it would be 6+4 but based on the size last week it would be 6+1

  14. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@swedishfish: I would also love to confirm/rule out twins....my hcg was really high and my symptoms have been insane so far compared to last time...but ob hasn't mentioned it and they only saw one at the 5 week scan.

  15. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Mrs. Lion: then you might want to wait. My RE said at my 6+2 scan that a twin could hide behind the other and I went back at 8+2 and he confirmed one baby.

  16. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Mrs. Lion: my first pregnancy began as a twin pregnancy and we did see both sacs at my first scan at 6+3 (I believe).

@AnneBird: that's exciting that everyone was so happy for you! What a nice time to tell everyone

@Mrs. Lion: If you can hold out until next Tues that might be nice. Then you should definately be able to see the heart beat. If that matters at all

@swedishfish: I second ( third? ) the bump. It's little but it's there. My shorts are getting a little uncomfortable. We don't have a maternity store here, but we're going away for my sisters birthday to another place that does, I guess I should buy some. All my other ones are huge, I guess as I was wearing them when I was at the end of my pregnancy.
I was also thinking that I wont be able to sleep on my belly as long this tie So sad, I love sleeping on my belly

I had my first really sick day yesterday. I felt like hell all day, but never threw up. I felt better in the late afternoon, thankfully, because we had to go to a wedding last night. Today, I haven't felt sick at all, just so exhausted. We are leaving super early tomorrow to go camping for three nights. I'm not sure it's such a good idea, but my son and husband are so excited, so I'm trying to suck it up for them. Also, I warned my husband that he would need to do most of the work and I would need naps

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@mrs. tictactoe: yay for symptoms! But ick at the same time i hope you have fun camping!

I got on a scale this am and have gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks. What in the world??? Stupid carbs. No wonder i have a bump haha.

  20. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@mrs. tictactoe: have fun camping. Buy some ginger chews! They've really been helping me this time around. Jolly ranchers help too in a pinch.

@Mrs. Lion: I am terrified to get on the scale today. No thanks, I'd rather not know.

  21. Mrs. Detour

I'm also looking more pregnant than I should and almost none of my work wardrobe fits. I braved the scale this morning and am up just under 10 pounds, which is certainly too much for 9w5d. I'm hoping that my carb cravings dissipate soon (and that my ob doesn't lecture me too much next week).

I'm so glad others are having the same belly issues I am! None of my pants button anymore, but I can get by with the rubber band trick on a few pairs, so I'll be living in them as long as I can. My MIL has given me some flowy tops and some pants in larger sizes than I used to wear, and those have been lifesavers. I've been packing away too-small items and wondering if I'll ever fit into them again

We told my parents and sister & BIL this weekend. They are thrilled

I felt like death all day yesterday but didn't throw up. I was up until 230 am last night trying not to barf.

We told my IL's Wednesday and my parents on the 4th. Everyone's really excited. Then I spent most of the 5th trying to trick my relatives into thinking I was drinking. Fun...

I just came back from the grocery store and bought all the carbs. And crystallized ginger.

Add me to the list of ladies who feel bloated, icky, and only want to eat carbs I'm very lucky I haven't actually gotten sick, but I do feel blah in general, especially if I let myself get too hungry or if I eat too much.

I have an appointment Monday morning at a new doctor's office (my old one that I used with LO #1 is closing ). I hope I like it! DH can't come with me.

Hello ladies! So I went in for my first sonogram (ultrasound? I have no idea what the difference is!) and we got to see our LO! Heartbeat is 140, but I have a new due date. February 18th instead of February 11th. So I went from being 9 weeks preggers to 7 1/2. I feel like I just took a huge step back! I'm ready to be out of 1st trimester. This vomiting and nausea is for the birds!

@heartabandoned: I've also started going through my closet and trying to do my yearly "clean-out" and donate old clothes to goodwill (this is part of our effort to clean the house out before the baby comes). Except this time I've become so frustrated with the fact that I can wear SO LITTLE of it right now that I just want to get rid of it all. Maybe not the best idea, though?

  28. swedishfish

@GreeneB2: wow, that's a big due date adjustment! Do you know when you ovulated?

I had an appointment today with a brand new OB in the practice. She was very sweet but didn't know how to use the old sono machine. It took her a while and she just turned the screen toward her and stared. Another OB came in and the first thing he said to me was "everything looks great." The new OB adjusted my due date to 2/7 but I'm keeping it at 2/6 for now. Lord knows this kid will be late just like R was so I'll go by my online due date calculators anyway.

Hi everyone I've been a bit quiet because life has been busy and this board moves fast! I'm excited for everyone's successful ultrasounds and we had ours last Saturday. We saw the little heart flickering away and the little guy (or girl!) was wiggling around like a little gummy bear! We were so thrilled and my daughter seemed as happy as a nearly two year of can be lol. My suspicions were also confirmed and I am about 5 days further along at 9 weeks 2 days today moving my due date up to 2/7. Anyone share this date?

Does anyone have a gut feeling about the sex? With DD I said from day one she was a girl and I was right! With this one I'm thinking boy....

Glad to hear about all the good ultrasounds!

@autumn865: I had a dream the other day that our baby was a boy so that's my very scientific guess so far My husband is adamantly team green but he's getting a lot of pushback from both our parents so we'll see if we stay TG or not.

@HeartAbandoned: I packed away a pair of jeans the other day and wondered the same thing. I may never fit into them again!

@swedishfish: I'm pretty sure I ovulated later than what I was supposed to (which is why I'm pregnant, we weren't trying. Happy surprise!) The doctor asked when I thought we conceived and I said Memorial Day weekend since we were careful the week before, and he said that was right on track. But last period was May 5th, so I think that's why there was a big jump.

So much catching up to do!

@cmomma17: It's such a fine balance between eating JUST enough, but not TOO much, isn't it?! I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a baby myself, needing to eat just a little every few hours

@dagret: I hope you are enjoying your carbs! I find I eat a bunch of one type of carb, and then I never want to see it again. Sadly, I'm running out of carbs to choose from DH just went on a mozzarella breadstick run...

@Mrs. Lion @ Mrs. Detour: Blasted weight gain! The nurse asked me today what my weight was before pregnancy. I could honestly tell her I have no idea--though I am sure it's gone up some. Now it's documented though, so my benchmark starts today

This board moves so quickly! Hope all you beautiful mommas are hanging in there. I love hearing about all the great appointments, though I have a hard time keeping up with them all. I was laying low since I was feeling so crappy, but with my first appointment today I have a bit more stamina

Everyone kept telling us "Congrats" at the Dr...finally I said to one of the nurses, "Everyone keeps saying that, but a medical professional has YET to confirm it. Everyone is just trusting this STICK I PEED on!" Needless to say, it was a sweet and beautiful moment when that little baby popped up on the screen, wiggling around like crazy. As a FTM, I was shocked how much the real-time picture looked like an actual baby, and not like an alien (like all the ultrasound pictures I have ever seen!). Now to just research the shit out of all things baby related for the next 6 weeks until the next appointment...

Love and luck to all of you pretty mommas!

I'm finally getting an ultrasound tomorrow AM to find out what's been causing my spotting for the past week. I'm incredibly anxious and feel fairly certain things won't end well...but at this point, I just want to know either way. I'm ready to move on one way or the other.
I'll update tomorrow once I know more.

@Mrs. Coral: The same thing is happening to me with carbs. I eat too much of one in a period of just a few days and then never want it again...oops. And hooray for the good ultrasound

@swedishfish: Glad your appointment went well! Yay for good updates!

@autumn865: Hooray for your good appointment too! I do feel like I have a gut feeling that it's a boy. Who knows, it's just my suspicion I've got a long wait til I find out though!

@Keppa: Good luck at your appointment tomorrow.

Question for everyone: Has anyone switched practices mid-pregnancy?

We just found out that my practice delivers at a hospital that is one state over, across the river and 45 minutes away, with zero traffic. It is a very nice hospital, but now I'm afraid I'll have a bridge-baby.

I am looking around for a new practice, and thinking it would be good to be close to the office so that appointments don't take a half-day, and I am looking for doctors who have admission privileges at a particular hospital that has a good rep and a good NICU....but I don't know when it would be best to switch. Do I do it now? Do I wait for my first round of tests to come back? Thanks in advance!

  39. Tidybee

    nectarine / 2834 posts

@Keppa: Good luck!! I know all to well how difficult it is to live in limbo and have no idea what is going on with your own body. I hope you get answers (and that it's a really good one!)
Ladies who have nausea -- preggie pops! Have you not discovered these? While i was lucky to not have nausea with 2/3 pregnancies, the one that I did only preggie pops would help. I've also given them to a number of friends who were experiencing bad nausea, and they said they really helped.

  40. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Tidybee: yes, they are disgusting! Haha. But they do help with nausea.

@Keppa: hoping you got some good news!

@AnneBird: I would choose a new practice now. I think the earlier you switch the easier it will be. I also switched practices when I was pregnant with LO #1 (originally a twin pregnancy) because my old practice didn't have admitting rights at the hospital with the NICU in the area.
