@Mrs. Lion: I wish it was acceptable to wear them even when not pregnant. I hated going back to zippers.

@swedishfish: you mean it isnt? Im pretty sure i wore mine until like 9 months pp haha

@Mrs. Lion: haha maybe this time I'll just wear my maternity pants until it's time for old lady pants. I wore a lot of capri sweats pp last time.

hey! tentatively joining in. my appt isn't until the 28th and I'm having next to zero symptoms other than getting huge which is a complete 180 from #1. So, I'm trying to hold back excitement until we see a HB.

BUT please tell me I'm not the only second timer contemplating busting out maternity wear.

tentative DD 2/23 and carried like a house last time... my pants selection is dwindling

@scg00387: I'm due 2/24 and I'm already back in maternity pants! NOTHING fits anymore, especially pants!

I have my first appointment this morning at 9:45 am. Going to a new doctor's office and without DH, so I'm nervous! Also probably telling the news to my mom, my in-laws and the stepkids today! Way earlier than last time so I'm super nervous about that too. Expecting a big brother t shirt to arrive in the mail any minute now so that's what we'll use to tell.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

@swedishfish: I never went back lol. I have those short rise maternity pants that you can really tell. So I always wore those lol.

Anyone have good pregnancy snacks? Ones that fill you up? I can't seen to get full.

    @scg00387: congrats and welcome!!

@cmomma17: hope the appt went well and you had a blast telling the family

@intotheocean: I'm eating constantly to try to control nausea, but I don't think I'm doing anything helpful! It's just carbs carb carbs. I go from super nauseous to super full to starving in the span of an hour… It's the worst!

I like almonds and dried apricots as snacks when I was pregnant with #1. And fresh peaches. All going to be staples this time too. Bonus, the apricots/peaches provide a ton of fiber, which, if you can't tell, you'll need soon, if not already.

I feel like I've gotten nothing done today because I have to get up and pee every 10 minutes but if I try to drink less, I get an insane headache. For the first time ever, I'm glad to sit close to the loo.

@Mrs. Detour: There's not a bathroom in my actual office building. It's about a minute's walk to the closest one. I spend a lot of time trekking back and forth....

@HeartAbandoned I'm all for walks but trekking between buildings for the bathroom sounds terrible.

@intotheocean: protein helps me feel full. String cheese is my go to right now because it’s one of the few things that doesn’t completely disgust me
@Mrs. Detour: – so much peeing going on over here too!
@heartabandoned: that’s a bummer about the far away bathroom!

AFM telling family didn't exactly go great. My MIL in particular was very negative and nobody seemed to be excited at all major buzzkill, DH and I are both upset today. My first appointment however went pretty well. I like the doctor so far and I get to go back for an ultrasound and bloodwork on the 28th. (different from my first pregnancy when I only got the anatomy ultrasound!)
Today I am majorly stressing over a performance review at work that's happening at 2 pm. Tummy is extra upset due to nerves, on top of the usual first trimester yuckiness

@cmomma17: Glad your appointment went well, and sorry again about the crappy reaction to your news.

I have another ultrasound tomorrow afternoon. It's mainly to check up on an ovarian cyst the doctor saw the last time, but I'm excited to see the baby again. My spotting finally stopped about a week ago, so I'm hoping everything is still looking good.

@cmomma17: sorry you didn't get a great reaction. I would be upset also. Just focus on that sweet baby!

@Aria: good luck at your ultrasound!

I've been struggling to stay full / drink enough water. Nursing my 11.5 month old DD is turning into a struggle. I'm not ready to wean but I'm afraid it's going to happen since my supply has tanked. My daughter has been sick the last few days which is not helping matters. My DH is encouraging me to eat healthy but I cannot get enough carbs (hello fries!).

  16. dagret

    grapefruit / 4235 posts

@Jruess: eat what you want at this point. Your carb cravings will turn a corner soon. I'm struggling with the water too right now! I've heard lots of babies wean with the 2nd pregnancy - try not to beat yourself up about it. You've gotten this far.

@cmomma17: I'm sorry the reaction sucked!

@cmomma17: Ugh I'm so sorry the family didn't react well. Did you have any inkling that they (particularly MIL) would be like that? I would be upset too. Hope the performance review went well and you can relax tonight!

@Jruess: my dd is also 11.5 months. We're on vacation right now until sat. When we get home I'm going to start weaning her. I'm not really ready for it though. I think that as I'm going back to work on the 28th that it might be best. I kind of want some time away from nursing for a while before #2 is here and I feel guilty that's one of the main reasons that I want to quit

So I hit 10 weeks today and my major symptoms (queasiness and extreme fatigue) have significantly faded over the past week. I can't help but be nervous that this is too early to feel better. Anyone else "feeling better too soon"?

  20. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@marzipan: i am not even 8 weeks and mine are starting to get better in the last couple days...I have a feeling im not over the hump yet though so i dont know. I had an ultrasound yesterday though and baby is perfect, so dont stress!

  21. marzipan

    grape / 87 posts

@Mrs. Lion: thanks!! My practice doesn't do an ultrasound until the NT at 12 weeks. It's so torturous!

@marzipan: the waiting is so hard

@marzipan: I have to wait until 12 weeks too...i hate waiting especially knowing other practices do it early

  24. MrsB2012

    nectarine / 2466 posts

@marzipan: Just over 10 weeks here and don't really feel pregnant at all anymore. Aside from being tired and some foods still not tasting that good. With #1 10 weeks was the magic week for me too

  25. marzipan

    grape / 87 posts

@MrsB2012: That's great to hear. I honestly can't remember when I started to feel better with my first kiddo!

  26. marzipan

    grape / 87 posts

@mtex14: It's so frustrating, right? Like you said, *especially* since so many other (most?) practices do an early ultrasound. Very annoying!

  27. Jruess

    grape / 80 posts

@MrsB2012: good luck with the weaning! I think I'm going to try start transitioning to WCM during the day & keep a morning and evening session for a bit. I know what you mean about wanting a break. It can be very exhausting. Good luck returning to work!

@marzipan: my symptoms started improving at 8 weeks (9w 2d currently) & it can definitely be nerve racking. I was telling my DH this morning that I'm ready for movement so I can stop worrying (I'm sure I'd find something else to worry about but one can dream).

  28. Aria

    persimmon / 1121 posts

@marzipan: @MrsB2012: I'm kind of hoping week 10 turns out to be the magic week for me too. I'm 9wks and the nausea has been particularly intense this week, I'm ready for a break.

I had my ultrasound today, baby is looking good so I feel like I can finally relax a little. It was exciting to see it look like an actual human with arms and legs and a head instead of a just tiny dot. I'm sorry for those who have to wait until 12 weeks, that must be so hard!

@Aria: yay for a good ultrasound!

I'm 10 weeks 4 days and still nauseated. I need the nausea to go away.

  32. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

Is anyone else dealing with dizzyness? It is awful over here...it was my first symptom at 3 weeks (yes, 3 weeks) and it is lingering. Like if i get hot at all or my heart rate goes up at all the room starts spinning. I asked my ob and she basically said its normal and to take it easy. Ugh.

  33. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@Mrs. Lion: are you eating enough? I noticed I get dizzy when my blood sugar drops.

ETA - it was worse with my first pregnancy and it disappeared when my MS went away.

  34. Tidybee

    nectarine / 2834 posts

@Aria: ugh I'm so jealous - I miss her so much. She's seriosuly
One of favorite people on the planet. I was just thinking of calling her to discuss my miscarriage and testing...and totally
Contemplating making the 90 min trip in to see her again when I get pregnant. But I'm told that's a little crazy to do!

  35. swedishfish

    Ugh, not just nausea tonight.

  36. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@swedishfish: it doesnt appear to be food related...its like this whether i havent eaten or just ate.

    Sorry you are feeling crappy

@Mrs. Lion: I had really bad dizziness with Liam. It usually happened when I was waiting in line, in the shower, or teaching. We figured that the common thread was standing in one place for too long. My dr said never to keep my knees locked and to take sit breaks.

  39. mrs. tictactoe

    blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts

My new dr also doesn't do an ultrasound until 11-12 weeks and I'm so anxious for one sooner. With Liam I had them early and often, so I'm not used to all this waiting!! I go on Mondaysnd hopefully we can hear a good heartbeat.

With my pregnancy that we lost last summer, I started bleeding at 8.5 weeks. I'm 8 weeks today, so getting through the next week is my next big hurdle. Then it's getting to the second trimester, then viability. One step at a time.

We had an ultrasound yesterday and saw the heartbeat. Hooray! My FIL accidentally spilled the beans the other day, so we've started to tell people.
