@mrs. tictactoe: Ooh I'm thinking about getting a pedicure tomorrow too... it's getting hard to reach down there and I could use a little pampering!
@loopedd: I had some hot chocolate last night and this morning... plus a milkshake at lunch (whoops!) so I think I'm caught up now, haha!!
DH and I are planning to go get our pumpkins tonight and then I'd like to just get stuff done around the house tomorrow. I'm working on a quilt for baby boy that I LOVE but it's taking FOREVER, so hopefully I'll get a good chunk done tomorrow.

You guys are bad influences. I can't remember the last time I had hot chocolate, but I needed *something* last night and found a stash of my husband's hot chocolate from last year (sea salt caramel from Target, btw), it was DELICIOUS! I'm probably going to have some more tonight

Feeling discouraged today. The main hostess of my baby shower wants to have it in January. I had been trying to get her to commit to a date for a month now, hoping for late Nov or early Dec.
Told a relative about it and she suggested splitting it to two showers since the guests are in two towns. Then one shower could be sooner. I'm afraid there aren't enough guests for me to do that. How many guests minimum would you think is okay for a shower?
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Iced Tea: Ugh, Im sorry. I would say no less than 10-15 for each, assuming that not everyone will be able to come? It may be awkward to have less. But you can do it however you want!
You guys. I held off so long before buying any Halloween candy, but I just couldn't wait anymore. Here's hoping I don't eat the whole bowl before next Friday...
ETA: apparently baby girl likes twix! She's throwing s party tonight! Kicking so hard DH can feel it. Yay!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Mrs. Lion: it's a good thing you bought that candy...it was clearly for the baby
So I was basically like a bottomless pit for about two weeks straight. I had to eat EVERYTHING and was still starving. Well, it must've caught up with me, because now I'm constantly feeling full and my "meals" have to be snacks, because I get so full so fast.
I remember this happening last time, but not until later. Go figure.

@Iced Tea: Ugh I'm so sorry! I would be frustrated. I do think Mrs Lion is right with about 10-15 for a shower, but it if you think you will have fewer guests that than that the host could change the format/location up so it's not awkward? I think you could have a really nice celebration with 6-8 friends at a restaurant for brunch, for example.
@Mrs. Lion: I just stocked up on candy at Target. DH asked me to hide it from him… but who's gonna hide it from me?! So nice that DH can feel her kicking, and she's right, Twix are great
@Mrs. Rabbit: This has been starting for me, too! Which is kinda good because weeks 18-20 were brutal for weight gain. I got a little panicky because I suddenly packed on a LOT. Ugh… now where's that Halloween candy?!

Oh you guys, I checked this thread earlier and ended up getting both a hot chocolate AND Halloween candy from Target. Now can we have another back-and-forth about how everyone is getting all of their laundry done please?!
I am also feeling the baby move and it is soooo exciting! At the same time, this is also a reminder that this baby will be here before I know it, so I have been as busy as possible tackling totally random projects like painting the front door, (finally!) getting curtains for my bedroom and painting the second bathroom ... that no one ever goes into and we plan on remodeling within the year.
Anyone else tackling house/decorating stuff?
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@AnneBird: I'm making an awesome to-do list....does that count?! #babysteps Also, I totally hung up clothes today (that have been clean and sitting in a pile for weeks (literally), and I did a load of laundry. Sending some of that motivation your way! (But fair warning...I'm paying for it now—SO sore from bending so much!!)
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@AnneBird: we just finished a 7 month long house renovation that included adding 350 sqft, a deck, and completely redoing our kitchen. I have been in house project hell haha. Now DH is building lo a tree house and i am decorating no more big inside projects for a loooong time!
@loopedd: dh hid it from me,but it was too easy to find. Im embarrassed at how much i have eaten. I was going to cut out refined sugar and flour and try to get back to eating normally, but its gonna have to wait until after halloween i think haha i walked like 15000 steps today though...that should count for something!

@Mrs. Lion: 7 months?! Yikes! I'll stop complaining now. We did a bathroom and will (hopefully) wrap up an attic remodel this week and I'm already kinda over it. I love the finished product, but there is something really demoralizing about that thin layer of construction dust on everything.
I can't wait to pile all of the construction stuff in a corner and start stressing about things like picture frames and where to put my decorative bowls.
Such a first world problem.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@AnneBird: haha i totally know what you mean i think the dust is finally gone!!

@AnneBird: We spent an excruciating 6 hours last night and today putting together an Ikea daybed and I swear we both almost jumped out the window at various points. It's got a trundle and drawers and all the moving parts were just brutal. It's going in the nursery (which is taking over our guest room) and I like the finished product but man… well, I feel like I earned my Halloween candy today!!
@Mrs. Lion: The walking TOTALLY balances it out And congrats on finishing the remodel!!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@loopedd: Oooo, we're thinking about getting an Ikea daybed for our nursery (which is currently our guest room/office). I wonder if it's the same one we want! I'm still overwhelmed by the thought of a new nursery, so we haven't done anything to that room yet except think about things we want in there (and an ikea day bed is the only thing on that list right now)
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: It's the Brimnes day bed! I'm grumpy about it at the moment but I really do love it. We wanted the twin to make space in the room but the pull-out to King size is perfect for visitors. Plus storage, all for $250… I couldn't resist!
Eta: photo attached, no bedding yet!

Happy Monday!
I'm 24 weeks today, viability, yay!
@Iced Tea: My shower will also be in early January, which the planner in me does feel is a little late, but it will also avoid the holidays. We got married in early December, and honestly it ended up being really complicated with everyone's holiday schedules. Regardless, if you have two showers, I don't think there is really any "minimum" number, especially if you are comfortable with it.
@Mrs. Lion: Wow, what a remodel! That sounds awesome (and awesome to be done).
We've just embarked on our efforts to redo some parts of the house before we get to the nursery: paint the outside trim, paint the inside of the entire downstairs of the house, and replace the carpet with some floors. And THEN we'll paint the nursery. We're going to have a busy few months
You all were right about the glucose test, I didn't get surprised with it but she did send it home with me to do for my next appointment in a little under 4 weeks.
How is everyone else doing?
clementine / 933 posts
@AnneBird: We decided to replace the carpet in the nursery with hardwood, and since we're doing one bedroom, we decided we might as well do all three. Hopefully the wood will be delivered tonight and the install will be complete in the next 10 days or so. I'm overwhelmed at the thought of having to move EVERYTHING out of all of those rooms, but I know I'm going absolutely love the end product, so I'm trying not to stress about it!
We haven't bought Halloween candy yet for this very reason. I worked a Trunk-or-Treat last night for my job, and I was really proud of myself for only eating one mini 3 Musketeers bar. Then I also had a bag of popcorn and a hot dog, but who's counting?
In related news, I passed my glucose screening (YAY!), but also gained 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks. I'm up 18 so far, and I feel pretty good about that. If I continue with the recommended 1 lb/week for the remainder of the pregnancy, I'll be up 34 total, which is on-target for everything I've read, though at the higher end of the target range. I'm feeling really good though, so trying not to stress too much.
I go back to my OB again in 4 weeks, then I'll start my every-two-week visits! I can't believe how fast the 2nd trimester is flying by. Anyone else feel that way?
kiwi / 560 posts
@HeartAbandoned: Good luck with the floors! I also haven't bought halloween candy because I know I'll eat it, but I still seem to be getting plenty of sugar from other places, ugh. I feel like my diet is pretty on point EXCEPT for sugar, I definitely have to work on that. This little buddy is going to be a sugar-fiend.
And YES, the 2nd trimester is flying by. I feel like the countdown is really on now for everything we have to get done before February, eek! But it's so exciting, I just can't wait until he's here

@Iced Tea: My shower will also be in early January. It's too hard to find a weekend in December that isn't already packed with holiday commitments. With Liam, I had two showers, one where some of my family lives in another town that was pretty small (10-15 people) and another where I live that was a little bigger. It was nice to have two parties!

We got a crib yesterday!!!! It's this one and we got it for $50 including the mattress (from a facebook mommy/baby swap page): http://www.walmart.com/ip/8810319?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227001200173&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40341064712&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=70314582174&veh=sem
I am so so excited about it. I was stressing about whether or not we should get a second crib because Liam is still in his crib and sleeps great and I didn't want to push that transition for him before he was ready (or before I was ready), so now I don't have to worry. His crib was free from a neighbor, including mattress, so we have spent $50 total on two, which is awesome.

Oh, and I've totally eaten a ton of Halloween candy. It's baaaad.
kiwi / 536 posts
@Kbee: Wow, you have a ton of projects going! Your house is going to look amazing
@HeartAbandoned: Congrats on passing the glucose test! Trying not to stress about weight gain is my new hobby. I'm up about 17 at 22w. It's just hard to predict where it's gonna go from here!
@mrs. tictactoe: Wow, you are a crib bargain master! I love that mod crib. Good work!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: SCORE! I've been wondering what we're going to do about a second crib, too. I need to start keeping an eye out for one on Craigslist!
clementine / 933 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: I love the crib!
@loopedd: I have no idea what will happen with my weight gain going forward (especially with holiday food in my future!) I figure I'm happy where I am today, and it doesn't do much good to fret otherwise
kiwi / 536 posts
@HeartAbandoned: I know, we have enough to fret about! I'm in my brother's wedding in May and just got an email about the dress that I'll be wearing alongside a bunch of 24-year-olds, so I'm having a little panic today

So nice to see everyone's progress and happy stories! We're finally making nursery progress, yay!
On another note, does anyone else feel like their pregnancy is DRAGGING by so slowly? I'm not sure what it is -- the fact that this pregnancy has been harder than my first (morning sickness is back! And now I'm super out of shape thanks to 20+ weeks of total exhaustion), or because I'm so incredibly eager to meet our daughter? -- but I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever. I am so eager for February to arrive. Anyone else?
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@marzipan: I feel like it's going by fast at times, but I also want time to go faster at others. Mostly I worried about my placenta issues, so I just want everything to be ok and I want to hurry up and get past the scary part and have a healthy baby.
grape / 87 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: that's a good point actually. I have placenta previa, so I'm really eager to know if I will get my preferred birth (or need a c-section). I guess that's probably another reason I'm eager for time to pass. I feel like I'm waiting on so many things!
kiwi / 536 posts
@marzipan: I go back and forth -- some days I'm like, WOW I'm almost 23 weeks... then others I'm like, 4 more months?! Seems like an eternity. In any case I really wish it was Feb right now (well as soon as we finish the nursery!).
DH is off work today and is going to visit our potential daycare. I am so excited for him, the babies are going to make him melt!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@loopedd: i have been feeling this way too. Lkke omg, viability!!! And then omg...4 more months!
But finally feeling her move has really been a game changer for me. This is (most likely) my last pregnancy, so i want to soak up all the little kicks and wiggles while I can. I remember missing that feeling after lo was born. Its helping me be a little more patient
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Lion: Baby was going craaaazy kicking all day yesterday and I thought of what you said -- that you miss it when it's gone -- and loved them even more! Poor DH had his hand on my belly for like an hour last night but still can't feel anything. I want him to be able to so badly!!
Anyone dressing up for Halloween this week??
kiwi / 560 posts
@loopedd: @Mrs. Lion: I love feeling so much movement now! It's been increasing so much and just makes me feel so happy too
@loopedd: I'm not dressing up, we're not too creative over here these days, we'll save it for the baby next year Are you dressing up?
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@loopedd: Yes, I'm going to be a dalmatian (Liam and my husband will both be fire fighters). For work I'm either going to be a witch (normal black dress with a hat) or a cowgirl (normal jeans, plaid shirt, and boots).
persimmon / 1121 posts
@loopedd: I'll wear an orange t-shirt made to look like a pumpkin - stole the idea from someone on here, but I can't remember who now.
Took my glucose test today, I'll get the results in a few days. Hopefully it'll be good news so I don't have to feel bad about eating the giant bag of Halloween candy my DH got.
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@loopedd: My daughter is a pumpkin this year (and ridiculously cute, if I may add) and I'm wearing my "costume" from two years ago when I was pregnant with her: orange maternity shirt with black duct tape on it to look like a jack-o-lantern. We went to a fall festival last night and she got a kick out of the fact that we were both pumpkins!

@loopedd: I love that day bed! Nice work on getting it together!
@Kbee: Yay for viability! What a milestone!
@mrs. tictactoe: What an awesome price for that crib! I was in the same situation, not wanting to push B out of her crib too early as she'll only be 18 months when baby comes. We found an awesome deal on a crib, regular $349 and we got it on sale for $99. I feel so relieved that we went with another crib.
Things have been so busy here. I'm having a hard time with working such long hours, having a 15 month old that's getting a bunch of molars and having a bad cold, and having some big fights with Dh. We've really struggled to get into a good flow since I've been back at work. ( I've only been back at work since the end of July as that's when I finished my last maternity leave.) We had a huge blow out on the weekend, but we talked it over and he's really trying now which is nice. I'm struggling with this pregnancy as I've been having so much pelvic floor pain and swelling. I'm so swollen down there that I'm terrified of what's going to happen after birth haha. There's nothing we can do about it either so that's super lame.
I'm really excited to be going to the States this weekend for some shopping with my mom and sisters. I'm a little nervous as I'm leaving B for the first time. I don't think I've been away from her for longer than 7 hours. Any time I go and do something for myself, I have huge guilt about leaving her. I can't imagine what I'm going to be like leaving her for almost 3 days! I'm super excited to go and buy a bunch of baby things though We're leaving on Halloween, so I won't be doing anything. I'm going to dress up B in her mouse costume for the day so at least I can see her before I leave.
Hope everyone is doing well! ( I haven't bought any halloween candy for the sheer fact I have NO willpower and would sit and eat the whole bag in one sitting! )

@Aria: @Mrs. Rabbit: we are going to a halloween party this weekend and i think i am going the same route
@Beanie132: LOVE!
@MrsB2012: sorry you are having a rough time i hope you are able to relax and enjoy your trip!! Let go of the guilt! You have nothing to feel bad about! A happy rested momma is a better momma!

@Kbee: I'm not creative at ALL when it comes to costumes, so I figured I should use the bump to my advantage! I got one of those skeleton t-shirts with the skeleton baby in there too. I hope it fits! I'll post a pic on the bump thread on Fri
@mrs. tictactoe: Ah, the dalmatian! I thought that was you, I remembered someone mentioning it a while back.
@Aria: Fingers crossed for the glucose test! That'll make Halloween even sweeter
@Mrs. Rabbit: I seriously think my DH wants to have a LO for the sole purpose of dressing him as a pumpkin. Gotta be the all-time cutest baby costume!
@Beanie132: LOL I love it! Nothing better than a punny costume.
@MrsB2012: Sorry it's been tough -- hope the trip turns things around!! Enjoy yourself. You deserve a break!
kiwi / 560 posts
@Aria: Good luck on your test results!
@Beanie132: haha love it!
@MrsB2012: So sorry to hear that things have been hard the last few months Life changes can be really, really difficult, even when those changes are positive. I also have been having SO much pelvic floor pain, so you are not alone. It HURTS. It worried me at first when it started happening a few weeks ago, but now I know it's just normal. It's at its worst when I've been standing for a while or after a walk/jog, or just a day with lots of activity (which is most of my workdays). I hope it gets better for you, and that it doesn't mean labor recovery will be any more difficult! Have fun shopping for baby things
@loopedd: Ooh I like that idea, maybe I'll look for one of those if I'm out in the next few days.
