@mtex14: dont feel guilty momma! There is no way they would have put your baby in danger. Im sure you have nothing to worry about. How are YOU?

@Mrs. Lion: Thank you!! I feel much better no more shortness of breath! She was quiet Wednesday which had me nervous but felt her moving around thurs and today. It's like a roller coaster ride! Thank you for asking how i am doing

@mtex14: came here to say exactly what Mrs Lion did - you have nothing to feel guilty about! You and the docs did the absolute best you could for both you and baby. Glad you are feeling better and that she's back to her active self! Take care of yourself this weekend

so ladies, those of you had the GD test already, I have mine tomorrow evening. Is there anything i shouldn't eat or try to ensure I do eat to not sway the test? I am doing the O'Sullivan glucose test which seems to differ from the regular drink test.

@Beanie132: I would just take it easy on sugar and refined carbs tomorrow. Mine have always been fasting, but I've heard lots of sugar can throw off the test.

@Beanie132: It was tonight, right? How did it go?
Well, the belly is real. I burned it tonight while cooking dinner! Was pouring out pasta water and it splashed back out of the sink and onto the first big thing it came into contact with -- my belly! Glad there's plenty there to protect baby
How is everyone doing?? It's been quiet around here!

This is a big vent
Trecked all the way to bed bath and beyond after work to get a snoogle (i was really excited about it) only to get home and take it out of its packaging and notice that the tags have been cut out. This seemed bad. I called them and they said I had to return it to the store for an exchange. Arg! I ordered a new one from amazon. It will be a week before I can get back to bed bath and beyond and I am having a really hard time sleeping as is.
I am upset that I took a clearly used bedding thing out in my house. Yuck.
Double check everything you get at bed bath and beyond.

@maddyz: ugh, that sucks!
@loopedd: ouch!! These bellies are starting to get in the way!
I'm really excited that my FIL is coming tomorrow to start working on smoothing the walls in the baby room. I can't wait to start moving stuff in there and getting it set up!

@loopedd: all went well! Thank you. No GD here! Got my flu shot and scheduled my rhogam for next month too. Flying on by over here!

@Beanie132: Hooray for good test results!
@maddyz: Oh no! So sorry to hear that. I hope when you get the new one it helps you sleep!
@mtex14: I missed your update a few days ago but I'm glad that you and the baby are doing well

@mtex14: I'm super late to respond but I had exactly the same thing, ct scan and all. I hope you are feeling better.

@maddyz: I'm so sorry! The Snoogle is totally worth it though. I've been using it just to kinda snuggle on while I relax, but I brought it into bed this week -- total gamechanger!
@mrs. tictactoe: Woo that's exciting! So nice to put things in their place, finally!
@Beanie132: Congrats!!

@maddyz: That is so frustrating! I can also add my approval of the Snoogle, though. It's been great for me, too!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@loopedd: what makes it worth it? I have been having a terrible time sleeping lately and I know it wI'll only get worse...

Work is crazy right now so I'm not responding too much around here, but keeping up with you all!
@Mrs. Lion: I have just the mini snoogle and I really like it! I use the wider loop part under my head and then put the smaller hook between my knees, then when I flip to my other side, the long part is behind my back so I think it keeps me from rolling onto my back so much. I definitely like having it, but not sure it's an absolute necessity.

Thanks for mentioning the snoogle! I have been considering buying a pregnancy pillow, but it almost feels a bit silly? Like my sleep is not too too bad? I don' know.
In other news, I had the glucose test last week and I passed! This was a huge surprise because on my way home from the doctor's office I had a horrible (sugar?) crash- I'm talking cold sweats and tunnel vision. I had to pull over and go into a Sbucks to recover. And then I had to convince the 17 yo barista that 1- I wasn't high and 2- I did not need him to call his manager. It was awesome.
Has anyone else had a bad crash after their test? how common is it?
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@AnneBird: I think that kind of reaction is normal! I'm glad you passed!
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Lion: My sleep has really been getting fitful lately, and while the Snoogle doesn't solve everything, it makes it way more comfortable to lie on my side. I feel like having the top part of the hook under my head and threading the rest between my legs just fits really nicely -- better than just laying my head on the pillow and having the rest of my body flat. I still wake up a lot, but I do find it easier to get comfortable.
Just back from a routine doc's appt and glucose test is scheduled for 3 weeks from now! 25 weeks tomorrow… I feel like the weeks are picking up speed.

To add to the snoogle discussion, I bought the mini snoogle from Amazon like @circusbee. I've had it about a week and the jury's still out for me. I wanted the mini version so I could still use my regular pillow, but it isn't really preventing me from rolling onto my back like I was hoping. Apparently I just move it out of the way in my sleep It is nice to have it in between my legs though, it makes it easier to sleep on my side.
@AnneBird: Oh goodness sorry to hear you felt so bad after your test! But glad you passed!
kiwi / 536 posts
@AnneBird: Yikes! Sugar crash doesn't seem too far out of the realm of possibility, but it does sound scary. That barista must have been shocked!

Does anyone else have Braxton hicks happening frequently? Every time I'm on my feet for a while (like playing with lo or going for a long walk) i have a lot of them. I'm going to ask the ob but I'm wondering if that's normal? I'm irrationally worried about preterm labor this time since lo was born early...
nectarine / 2466 posts
@Mrs. Lion: I've been having lots of Braxton hicks. I didn't have them with #1, but get them frequently this time. I usually put b in a carrier and walk with her but a few days ago I used the stroller. I thought I was going to go into labour pushing up the hills! It was terribly uncomfortable. I also find near the end of my shifts I get them too. Drinking lots of water has helped me. They say Braxton hicks aren't any sign that you'll have an earlier labour though so you're probably ok. When was lo 1 born for you? B was born 37w3d for me
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@MrsB2012: that's good to know! He was born at 34+6...not terribly early but early enough to land me in the "at risk" category.

I got the preggle (smaller than snoogle) because I was worried I'd crowd my husband out of bed. In the end, what works for me is using the preggle under my head and along my back with the body pillow along my front. I can also turn over and sort of do the opposite. I guess I could have just bought a bigger one to begin with! Between this arrangement and yoga classes, my hip and pelvic pain is mostly gone.

I have some great news. I told one of the midwives about my disappointingly brief anatomy ultrasound (18 min), and she said we can get another ultrasound. She said it'll be easy to come up with a reason for billing purposes since I am waiting on a cardiology consult (I used to have a heart problem). I'm so glad I will get to really see the baby this time, not just indivual organs and measures!

@Iced Tea: That's awesome! And with the time that's passed, he'll look even more like a baby now anyway. Happy to hear it!

Sorry for the long update; I feel like I haven't been on in while, so there's a lot to mention!
First, my husband is home!! He came back last Friday and it's so nice to have him back. It's funny, the baby was being super mellow up until he came home, and now she's making these big strong movements/kicks. It's like she was waiting for him
Our bank account HATES us after the trip to Atlanta we just took. We bought a "Best" Chair from BBB yesterday (thank goodness for the 20% off deal) and then we went back the next day and bought a double stroller (City Select Baby Jogger). Crazy expensive, but I hope they'll both be worth it.
We've also possibly decided to have the girls share a room...I don't know if that'll be a crazy idea a genius idea, or one that will blow up in our face.
My GD test is on Monday, and I'm crossing my fingers I'll pass again!

@Mrs. Rabbit: It must be so great to have your husband home - glad to hear the good news! And that's awesome that you made a few purchases. We still have to do that...still trying to decide on what chair to get actually. They're all so expensive! Good luck with your GD test!

My best friend is throwing us a shower in early January, but she doesn't live here and really has nowhere to throw it. Is it weird or tacky if it's at our own house?
persimmon / 1121 posts
@Iced Tea: That's so exciting that you get another ultrasound. I don't think I'll have any more until the baby is born and I want to see her again!
@Mrs. Rabbit: Yay! I know it can be so hard being apart for a long time, must be nice having him home. Good luck with your test!
@Kbee: It wouldn't bother me if the baby shower was at the mom to be's house. If the attendees are people you're close to, I'm sure they'll understand.
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: so nice to have your husband home! Will he have to leave again anytime soon or is he all yours for a while?? Very exciting nursery and shopping progress too!
@Kbee: agree with Aria, not weird! I would just make sure she's listed as the host on the invite, even if the location is at your house.
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@Kbee: I've been to several baby showers at the mom to be's house. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

@Aria: @loopedd: @mrs. tictactoe: thanks for your advice ladies, our house it is!
Anyone doing any baby-related prep this weekend? We're just working more on clearing out the room that will be the nursery, trying to sell a few things on craigslist!
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@Kbee: painting is happening this weekend! I can't wait to get the crib set up in there.
persimmon / 1310 posts
@Kbee: For prep, we are looking to sign up for some more classes. We took childbirth classes but still need breastfeeding and cpr classes. My husband could also benefit from a baby basics class.
I'm not allowing myself to do more shopping for awhile. I was obsessive there for a bit.

@Kbee DH and I tried on wraps and carriers this afternoon. We both liked the woven wraps a lot, I finally understood what one should do with a ring sling, and I think we might put a beco on our registry. It was so sweet seeing DH figure out how to put the baby dolls into the wrap. I could hardly handle it.
I am also going to do some sewing projects for the baby tomorrow, a stuffed dog and a blanket.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends!

Tell me about your baby's position and kicks. Mine seems to almost always hang out on the bottom left. And all the kicks are low or central; I've had maybe 3 up higher. At my last appointment, the top of my uterus was over halfway between my belly button and boobs, but baby never goes anywhere near there. Posterior placenta, btw.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Iced Tea: I felt most kicks low and to the left as well until the last day or two, and now I am feeling a bunch up high. I know she was in a breech position at all of our ultrasounds, but I am wondering if maybe she is more transverse now...I am feeling a lot out to the side and a little higher. I have a hard time knowing what exactly I am feeling haha With LO 1 I dont remember feeling many kicks at all...more like tumbling. By maybe 28 weeks I could feel his head and his butt all the time pushing out and moving around, but never felt any jabs or kicks really. I don't know where my placenta was with him, but this time it is anterior.
