It is starting to feel so soon! I went into a little bit of a panic this week about how many things were on my to do list and none of them were getting done! Left the toddler with his daddy last night and went to buy stuff for baby girl's room. We aren't getting much, so it is almost done! Just need to hang some things on the wall and I need to order a changing pad cover. So exciting! I wanted everything to be 100% ready by 30 weeks so that I can relax for the end of the pregnancy and just enjoy my last days with LO before the baby is here...I can't believe how soon that is! Plus, with Christmas coming up, Whew! But in a good way I am so ready to meet this kid! Still no name though...good thing we are driving 4 hours tomorrow...I may have to force DH into talking about it

Anyone else already hitting a wall? 30 weeks on Saturday and...OUCH! I just hurt everywhere and I'm exhausted all the time. I know, I know, "everything happens sooner the second time around," but I didn't feel this way until like 36 weeks last time.
edit: I just realized that i'm hungry all the time again, so she must be going through a growth spurt right now and is literally sucking the life (i mean, energy) out of me. That's it, right?
@Mrs. Lion: still no name here, either. I'm pretty positive she may never have a name.

@Mrs. Rabbit: See, this is my fear right there...Thank you for lighting a fire under me haha GOTTA get this stuff done! I can't believe you are 30 weeks already! Eek!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Mrs. Lion: Yes! Do ALL the things now! Technically I'm 29w, 4days, but I'm rounding up to make me feel better.

So dh took care of lo all day yesterday so I could tackle my mile long to do list! Aside from her name above the crib, it's done! It came together even better than I expected. Just enough pink to make it seem like a room for a girl and not just her brothers nursery, but we only spent about $100. So relieved to have that and the toddler room finally done!
Is anyone else starting to feel huge? My shirts are almost all too short, and my tunic sweaters are all too short to wear with leggings now. I am so frustrated! This is most likely my last pregnancy and the thought of buying clothes now that I won't need in 3 months makes me ragey! Haha. I don't remember having this problem last time
And on that note...I have definitely gained more weight than I would like, no doubt because I have eaten way too much sugar and junk for the last 7 months. Any ideas for healthy no added sugar snacks? I know there will be plenty of peppermint flavored goodies around but I want to at least make an effort haha.

@Mrs. Lion: That's awesome that you got so much done! You should post pictures in the nursery thread.
I completely relate to feeling huge! I feel like my bump exploded in size the last couple weeks. I can't imagine what it's going to be like in two more months.

@Mrs. Lion: That is SO impressive that you got so much done and only spent $100!
Last few weeks I clearly look bigger to people. I saw my dad 4 weeks ago and then again yesterday, and he was shocked at the difference! And I let family feel some turkey-induced kicks so I think it's feeling real to everyone now
I have been crazed with work the past few weeks, and that's partly just work and partly feeling the need to get things in order for maternity leave. I feel like I have the nursery under control (we've done SO much recently), now I need to make sure I have a job to come back to!

@Mrs. Lion: Oh and re: sugar and weight gain -- I have no advice, just kicking myself that my GD test is scheduled for this week after the gluttony of the past 3 days!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Aria: I know! The fact that this baby has 13 more weeks to grow blows my mind!! I will post some nursery pictures tomorrow I am hopefully going to be able to find time to blog about her nursery this week
@loopedd: to be fair, we didn't really have to buy anything at all. Some ac moore wooden frames, spray paint, a rug, and a new changing pad cover is pretty much everything! You should post some pictures too! Good luck with your test! Mine was last wednesday...just in time haha

@Mrs. Rabbit: Tell me about it! I feel like death lately! I'm 30 now too and I can't believe the hurts and exhaustion haha
@Mrs. Lion: I can't believe you're done your nursery! I wanna see pics! I haven't even started mine! We bought a crib and a dresser.. they are currently still in the boxes in the garage. The nursery still has the spare bed in it and the bookshelf.. and a whole pile of crap! I have no idea when I'll have the motivation to get it done.
And the feeling huge thing.. I'm literally bigger now at 30 weeks then I was when I gave birth to B. I can't believe how big I am this time!
Things are just flying by here. I think I'm going to be starting my mat leave soon. I think Dec 12th will be my last day of work, I'll find out on the 8th. I'm really struggling with my long shifts and can't wait to just stay home with B and enjoy some alone time with her before her world is torn upside down

@MrsB2012: Are you on your feet all day at work? Oh man, I can't even imagine if that's the case. I'm seriously just shocked at how sore I am almost all the time now! I must've totally lucked out by not feeling this way until the last month of my pregnancy last time!

@MrsB2012: Oh my word. I hurt for you just thinking of how long your days are. Twelve more days till you're off and can relax!

I'm sorry you ladies are feeling uncomfortable. I'm 29 weeks and generally feel fine as long as I keep going to yoga. This week I only had a Monday class because of the holiday, and I have noticed my inactivity has made me feel crummy and achy. I need to get back to class tomorrow.
Today I was thrilled to buy a baby carrier (beco Gemini) from the pishposhbaby sale! I decided to wait on a stroller since I'm not sure what we will need and the sale specifies no returns.
The invites for my shower went out, so I went online to check the registries and was kinda horrified at the large number of things that now say unavailable or n/a. So frustrating. Now I'm working on finding replacements. Anyone else have this experience? It was literally a couple dozen items.
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Iced Tea: Were the items a lot of seasonal things? I remember when I registered for my first, that happened, which was frustrating.
I picked up a Solly Baby wrap with a black friday deal over the weekend, and I'm excited to get it in! I used a Moby A LOT at the beginning with Julia, but it got extremely hot in the summer. I've heard great things about the Solly, so I'm excited to try it out.
persimmon / 1310 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: Nothing seasonal. It's mostly basics: flannel crib pads, bassinet sheets, blankets, sleep sacks, triple paste, side snap tees, wash cloth pack, a wrap carrier, etc. A month ago I had the same issue but waited in case it was just a stock issue. Nothing changed, so I looked for replacements. Doing it again now.

So nesting is a real thing... I am generally a nesting kinda of person, but this weekend was out of control. I bought a few things, but mostly cleaned out the apartment and took a bunch of stuff to storage, and made sheets for the moses basket. I realized that my Jan is going to be crazy busy with work and I will feel SO much better if I get everything set up before hand and that means now...
Is it too early to do things like find a doctor for the baby?
@Iced Tea Yoga has really helped me too and so has swimming. It's hard for me to fit it in, but I feel SO much better when I do it.

@maddyz: It's the perfect time to find a pediatrician. I already went to one interview and plan to interview one more. I'm really glad I went; I feel like I understand their policies and approach pretty well now. The pediatrician said too many parents don't visit at all during pregnancy and then are surprised to find that the practice isn't well suited to their needs (hours, philosophy of care, whatever).

This is just me complaining.
I have had a cough for a week that only bugs me at night. The physical logistics of coughing are just not very good these days. Yesterday am i coughed so much I threw up. I am so stubborn, but I think it's time to call my midwife.
I hope everyone else is starting healthy!

@maddyz: I've had a cough that's kicking my butt for a week and a half and i have no solution either from my doctor...just wanted to let you know you weren't alone!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@maddyz: @Beanie132: Hope you guys can find some relief soon! I had one that lasted for about a month (threw up several times from coughing so much) and the only things that helped me were hot showers (got all the gunk out), sleeping very propped up, and cough drops. I'm finally feeling well again, but I was super worried it was going to linger around like last time...
The last time I was pregnant I had such a horrible cough that I literally thought I broke a rib. It hurt to breathe and move; I even went to the ER and they did Xrays (seriously thought I broke something). They said that since everything is moving around, your muscles get squished, and if you're straining them by coughing, it can feel like you broke a rib. Crazy, crazy. On the bright side, a few hours after I delivered my baby, my cough went completely away.

@Mrs. Rabbit: I legitimately just email my nursing friend what they can do for a possible broken or bruised rib from coughing....blah. I feel like my abs would be rock hard from all this coughing if my belly wasn't in the way!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Beanie132: Oh noooo! I wish that nobody would have to go through that pain. I remember it all too well. They actually prescribed me something to take and it did help the cough subside a little so I could breathe without pain. I remember it was a category B or C (I think it was a "c," actually), because at the time I needed some relief more than anything. REALLY hope you feel better soon.

Yikes! All of you dealing with coughs sounds so painful! I hope you all get some relief soon!
My days are becoming much more painful as well, mostly rib and back pain. My upper/middle back hurts if I sit too much, and my lower back hurts when I stand... just can't win in the 3rd tri apparently... Has anyone tried those maternity support belts? One of my midwives suggested it when I saw her last week, and this morning a coworker also mentioned that it might help. $30 just seems like a lot to spend if it doesn't do anything.
I keep dragging my feet on the pediatrician search. I have 1 recommendation, and I definitely want to visit and "interview" before making the decision, it just feels like I have no free time to do that these days.

@Mrs. Lion: @loopedd: That's so awesome that both of you have been able to do so much nursery/baby prep! Way to be on top of things
We are a little behind, but we at least got the nursery painted on Sunday! There's still lots of boxes and junk siting in the middle of the room that we have to get rid of/sell/move before the furniture comes in. My parents are gifting the furniture to us and ordering it soon, so hopefully we'll get it soon and be able to set it up!
@maddyz: @Beanie132: Hope you both feel better soon, so sorry that you have to deal with that, how frustrating!
@MrsB2012: I can't even imagine having a job that required me to stand all day - I'm sure you are anxiously awaiting your maternity leave! My job required me to stand/walk around a lot back in September and October, and even then - when I was much less huge - my whole body was in so much pain by the end of the day.
Random question - is anyone getting a doula? We would really like to hire one but just haven't bit the bullet because of the cost. But we need to decide soon!
kiwi / 560 posts
@Circusbee: I am also dragging my feet on the pediatrician search! I know we need to start looking into it, but i'm so slammed with work trying to make sure I can get everything done in the next 10 weeks that I'm having a hard time taking the necessary time to search/interview. Also, I have a support belt that I bought for $11 I think on Amazon (Curad brand I think?). I only wore it 1 day that I was standing up pretty much all day, and it didn't help on that particular day. Maybe I wasn't using it right, because from what I hear, they do in fact help.
apricot / 390 posts
@Kbee: We will be hiring a doula, we've interviewed one, who I really liked, and will talk to one more before making a decision. If you are concerned about cost, try finding doulas currently still completing their training. The one we already talked to is still in training, but seemed really knowledgeable about comfort options to me, and offered such a warm, calming presence.

@Circusbee I really like the pelvis support belt I have, it's hard for me to wear it when I sit, but it's super helpful for standing. I take it on and of a lot. The one I have is not pregnancy specific and is meant to support the pelvis which is good for me because everything turned to jello down there. It doesn't hold up my tummy at all.
A have a friend who ties a scarf around her waist and that helps her allot. Maybe you could do that to get an idea if the belt would feel good.
clementine / 933 posts
@Circusbee: I bought this belt way back in the beginning of the second tri: http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=976100113&MasterCategory_Id=MC32. I can't live without it. I wear it every single day, even the days I'm just going to be working from my couch (I work from home two days a week, so there is very little getting up and about on those days!). It's a game-changer for me. When I went to buy it, the woman at the store took it out of the package and told me how to put it on, and she told me, "If it's going to help, you'll know right away." And it did. The fact that she said that makes me think they'll let you try it out in-store, and if it's not for you, you don't have to buy it. If you have Motherhood Maternity store nearby, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. It can't hurt! (Mine was recommended to me by a mother of 4, so I pretty much believe anything she tells me )
I totally convinced myself yesterday that I had preeclampsia. Like total melt-down convinced myself of it. Turns out mild headaches and swelling are totally normal, which I know, but I found myself in an all-out panic yesterday. My headache lasted a total of about 36 hours, and I'm feeling a thousand times better this morning, but I've decided I'm NOT a fan of the pregnancy melt-down. I've also stepped away from Google. I see my doctor again tomorrow and will be asking her specifically about my urine test results, which will give me a little bit of peace for the next two weeks, right?
I need to post in the nursery thread, but we have all of our furniture now! We were gifted our glider and our dresser over the Holiday weekend, and I'm loving how everything is coming together. I still need to frame the book pages I've picked out, and a friend is going to do some small paintings for us, but the major pieces are in the room, and I'm so excited! I'm finding it difficult to decorate for Christmas while also getting the nursery ready, though! I only have so much energy when I get home from work!

@HeartAbandoned: I may need to get one of those...it is getting more and more painful to walk!
@Kbee: @Circusbee: @maddyz: Do any of you ladies have a facebook mom group in your area? That is a really great place to check for recommendations for pediatricians, especially if you don't have time or want to do a ton of interviews and research. I didn't meet our ped until after lo was born (I called ahead and gave them my name, and when he was born they had the ped on call come to the hospital) and we have been really happy with the office.
So...this is crazy and unexpected, but my mom passed away this Saturday night. We were just there for Thanksgiving, and she seemed perfectly healthy. Apparently she had an underlying heart condition and had a heart attack in her sleep. She never even woke up. I am having such a hard time every time I think about the fact that this baby girl is never going to meet her grandma. My mom and I weren't super close, but she loved us and loved LO so so much...my heart is broken that baby girl wont ever meet her and that LO isn't going to remember her. I posted a picture of him and her on fb yesterday, and every time I see it I lose it...she loved him so so much.
Sorry to be a downer....I am trying to stay busy and have been following this thread the last couple days. Felt like I needed to say something...

@Iced Tea: I want to sign up for a yoga class so bad! I work a rotation though so it's really hard to do anything on set days as I can only go like twice a month. The only prenatal yoga I can find is specific days of the week. Do you do just a regular class or is it specific to prenatal?
@maddyz: that's awesome you got so much done this weekend! I can't wait to get our nursery set up!
@Circusbee: I started physio a few weeks ago and she suggested the maternity belt. They're $40 here and as I'm only working for a few more weeks, I didn't get it. I know I won't wear it anyways. Apparently a lot of people find them quite helpful though.

@MrsB2012: I do some prenatal workouts through our comcast setup. it's under sports and leisure...they have a ton of 15/30/60 minute classes and I do what I have time to do. Might be an option to just youtube some stuff and follow along when you have time

@Mrs. Lion: I'm sorry for your loss. I know how you feel about your LOs not knowing your mother. Both my parents are gone, and it hurts thinking that my LO will never know them. I have been thinking that I need to make a point of talking about them frequently so the LO will know something about them. I grew up hearing lots of stories about my great grandfather and felt like I kind of knew him.
