@MrsB2012: I take regular yoga classes. There are no prenatal classes in this small town. As long as you aren't new to yoga and you always stay in your comfort zone, it is no problem.
I'm starting to need more modifications now, but the instructor is great and I'm comfortable doing something different from everyone else.
Even if you are new to yoga, it could be okay with the right instructor.
Yoga is helping me SO much. I highly recommend it.

@Mrs. Lion: I'm so sorry to hear this news, that is so heartbreaking. I hope you and your family are doing okay.

@Mrs. Lion: I just saw your news on the other thread, and wanted to say again how sorry I am. You have so much going on right now... I hope you are getting to take care of yourself
I've been lax at following along, but wanting to post because I am having a pregnancy-meltdown week myself. All along I've had symptoms that are annoying but tolerable... until now. Over the past 2 days I have developed full-blown, crippling sciatic pain on my right side, to the point where walking is super slow and painful. I worked from home yesterday, but came in to the office today and the NYC commute made me cry by the time I got to my desk Tomorrow I see the doc for my 28-week appt and GD test so I will ask if there's anything that I can do. My trainer also put me in touch with her PT who is also a massage therapist so I have an appt with her for a massage at 5pm tomorrow... counting the minutes!!
@HeartAbandoned: Thank you for posting that maternity belt, I'm having DH pick it up on the way home tonight!!

@loopedd: That's around the time that my sciatica kicked in, too (left side for me). It's unbearable at times, and I feel you on the tears I was having a good couple days when I just went to my appt (on Tues) and totally forgot to ask about what I can do, so I'd love to hear what your doc says. I REALLY need to actually wear the maternity belt I have.
Speaking of maternity belt...this is going ot probably sound ridiculous, but here it goes: Is anyone afraid of squishing the baby with it? I know she's head down right now, and she's super ridiculously low. I roughly put the belt on and it feels like it'll totally squish her, especially since it needs to be pretty tight! Anyone else get that feeling when it's on or am I being crazy?

@loopedd: I hope you get some relief soon! Mine started acting up two days ago. Every step hurt. But thankfully it's better now.
I go in for my glucose test tomorrow. I'm nervous because I failed the 1 hour when I was pregnant with Liam, but passed the 3 hour. I'm hoping that holding back on the sweet treats today will help. I remember eating cookies in bed the night before my one hour test last time

I have had really awful pelvic pain this whole pregnancy, and it recently turned into Sciatic pain. I saw a PT for a couple months earlier on and it helped tremendously, so when the sciatic pain started I went back. It has almost eliminated it again, and I have only been to 3 appointments. I would highly recommend it if you can make it work.
Thank you so much for all the kind messages. I am hanging in there most of the time. We have a memorial get together planned for this weekend and I think it will start to feel more real after that. Mom and I didn't talk often and I only saw her every couple months...so I think it is going to take a while to really sink in that she is gone.

@Mrs. Rabbit: I will report back from the doc, hopefully a miracle cure for sciatica!
@mrs. tictactoe: I spent a lot of time nervous for the GD test until it's actually here and I'm eating chocolate to soothe my back pain Fingers crossed for us both to pass tomorrow!!

@Mrs. Lion lots of love for you and your family.
@Loopedd I have a recommendation for a prenatal chiropractor in NYC if you are interested. I haven't been but totally trust the recommendation. I almost went when my SI joint slipped out, but it slipped back before I could make an appointment.

@maddyz: Thanks! Depending on what the doc says in the morning I may take you up on it. I would have no idea how to go about finding a chiro and would love a recc.

@Mrs. Rabbit: I broke down and got a maternity support belt a couple days ago, and I do kind of feel like I'm squishing him a bit with it on... however, he's still moving all the time and punching/kicking me everywhere, so it doesn't seem to bother him too much. I think it's helping my lower back pain a little, but I'm still having a lot of pain in my ribs and upper back directly behind my ribs. I've basically been going straight to bed as soon as I get home every night because laying down is the only way I feel relief 2.5 more months 2.5 more months 2.5 more months...

So I thought I was going to be able to make it through this pregnancy without having to take my rings off, but my hands (and feet) have swollen up overnight! I took off my rings this morning and I don't think I'll be able to get them back on for a while! Plus my hands feel very achy, like I have arthritis in them. Is this happening to anyone else? Should I be doing hand exercises? I feel so crickety...everything hurts!

@GreeneB2: DH bought me a size-larger wedding band a few weeks ago because my fingers stay a little bit swollen. Especially in the mornings, they just feel stiff. My doctor recommended drinking plenty of water (which I should be doing anyway!) and trying to avoid sodium. I've been doing both, but am still experiencing some swelling. I do think stretching and moving my fingers gives me some relief, so I just wiggle them around, or put my hands over my head, if they start to really bother me during the day.

@Circusbee: I'm so sorry you're still experiencing pain! Maybe as time goes on and he shifts his position, you'll get some relief in your ribs and back.

Glucose test is over. The drink was way more disgusting than I remembered and I felt really sick after. But the hour went by pretty quickly. I probably won't have the results until the middle of next week, so hopefully I passed!
kiwi / 536 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: Oh, I'm in the same boat, no results til next week! The drink tasted like flat Sprite to me, it went down okay, but afterwards I got instantly nauseous. I hope we both passed!
As far as sciatica, the doc said PT over chiro, so I have to look into finding a PT now! She said that will be the biggest help. She did say I can take Extra Strength Tylenol so I'm excited about that -- I hadn't tried any meds yet! She approved Icy/Hot patches too. Massage in less than 2 hours….
apricot / 390 posts
@loopedd: Oooh enjoy that massage!! I got one a few weeks ago and it was heavenly
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@loopedd: yeah, that's the same flavor I got, but for some reason it grosses me out so much. Way worse than flat sprite. Ick.

@mrs. tictactoe: @loopedd: mine was today, and I had lemon-lime too. It wasn't so bad but I think I preferred the orange of last year better. My practice does one two-hour glucose test, with a fasting draw, a 1 hr draw and a 2 hour draw. If they don't call me by Tuesday I'm in the clear. The dr. today said my wait gain was "ok" at this point...I'm at 15 lbs so far. whatever.
kiwi / 536 posts
@dagret: Yikes… that seems a little harsh! I'm at 23lbs at 28 weeks and no one has ever said a word about it. I think it's so odd that different doctors have totally different reactions to weight gain.
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@dagret: I agree with @loopedd: that does seem harsh! I'm up 20 lbs at 28 weeks and they haven't said anything. At the beginning, she said she wanted me to gain 25 lbs total, so I've been afraid of what she would say, but thank goodness she hasn't mentioned it. I am doing a lot better this time (with Liam I gained almost 50 total and I started off heavier than I did this time), so I'm not worried.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@loopedd: @mrs. tictactoe: I mean, it WAS just thanksgiving, and this week I just started feeling like my stomach is running out of room, so it's not like you continue on the same weight gain curve forever. There are 8 or 10 drs. In my practice and they all say completely different things. It's so annoying.

I'm 31 weeks today. AHHH!! How is time going by SO fast?! I just picked up a newborn Cabbage Patch doll to give to my daughter when this baby is born, and one of her grandparents is giving her a baby doll stroller for Christmas. I also got an email saying that it's time to start thinking about packing a hospital bag. Time needs to slow down!!!

@Mrs. Lion: I hope this weekend has gone as well as it could for you and your family.
@Mrs. Rabbit: Wow 31 weeks! I'm approaching 30 weeks tomorrow, and am equally as shocked that time is flying by so fast. I've started wondering about when to pack the hospital bag. Might as well get a list started and get on it soon...just in case!
kiwi / 560 posts
@Circusbee: Sorry I missed your reply earlier this week about the doula. I've heard that some insurance companies will reimburse for one, so I'm going to call mine tomorrow to ask, but not getting my hopes up. We're really wanting one because I'd love to go for as natural of a labor as possible, and while my DH is so supportive, we both agree it'd be nice to have an additional support person there to remind me of what I can do throughout labor.
apricot / 390 posts
@Kbee: I didn't realize some insurance companies reimburse... I'll have to call mine to ask as well! Somehow I think we will be on our own however... My plan is not the most comprehensive
Last night I went to dinner with some ladies (all moms) and one of them told me her best advice to new moms is to have the bag packed and everything ready by 34 weeks! She went into labor and had her first at 35 weeks and said she was completely unprepared. I'm about to be 30 weeks in a couple days, so I figured I'll use the rest of December to make a list and gradually get all the NEED items so the bag will be ready by Jan. I thought I had so much time left but it's really coming up fast!! I just went to target this morning and got all the little toiletry items we will want while I was killing time between appointments.

So what should I pack in this hospital bag? I'm having a hard time believing it's time to start thinking about that!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Kbee: Thank you The small service we had was really nice. It's been an emotional roller coaster, but I am hanging in there. Thanks for asking
@HeartAbandoned: You don't need much. A couple pairs of comfy pants, nursing bras/tank tops if you plan to breastfeed. An outfit to bring baby home in. Your own toiletries, including a really great lotion (you will wash your hands a zillion times!). A robe to wear over the nursing tanks (my room was freezing!), slippers that you don't mind possibly throwing away when you are done. I was in the hospital for 8 days, and that is really all we needed. Also, a change of clothes for Daddy. We also had some snacks...hospital food isn't that great.
nectarine / 2466 posts
@HeartAbandoned: I also brought flip flops for the shower. I brought diapers and wipes ( our hospital only provides size 1 dispers which b was swimming in. They also disn't provide disposable wipes, just cloths, but that depends on your hospital. A nightlight is handy so you don't have to turn on the huge florscent lights every few hours during the night.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@MrsB2012: Whoa, really? Newborn diapers and disposable wipes were provided at our hospital. That seems crazy! The nightlight is a great idea!
kiwi / 560 posts
@Circusbee: Good plan to be ready by 34 weeks! I think that sounds reasonable.
@Mrs. Lion: @MrsB2012: thank you for the helpful list of things to put in the hospital bag. I am also a little lost as to what is really needed and what isn't
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Kbee: have you done your hospital tour yet? That's a good time to ask what they will have available
kiwi / 560 posts
@Mrs. Lion: Yes, we actually just did the tour on Wednesday, didn't think to ask about what they would provide. From what I hear, they are pretty generous and provide a lot so I'm going to try to take just the basics that you ladies listed above, knowing that my parents will be willing to bring stuff from our house if we need it.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Kbee: I'm sure you will be fine then
Just had our second specialist appointment and the bright spot on baby's heart looks tiny now. The dr said it isn't that it shrunk, just that her heart is much bigger. He was able to rule out a tumor and she still has no other downs markers so looks like everything is developing normally. Whew. I have been terrified the last day or so for this appointment.

@Mrs. Lion: That is great news!!
I've been so busy haven't been able to check in on this page in awhile We are in the process of renovating the house which has not been fun.
Our baby girl has dropped and is head down position, I am feeling so much pelvic pressure.... I swear it feels like she is going to fall out when I walk. Anyone else feeling that pressure? its so intense
Hope everyone is doing well!
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@mtex14: I do not have that yet, but I have a long torso, so I feel like there's extra room in there
I passed my glucose test!!!! She texted me the results, which is amazing, and said I got a 77 and anything above 135 is abnormal. So happy and I just love my doctor so so much.
