@Iced Tea: that's so exciting you get another ultrasound! Is it booked yet? I'd love to see the babe again
@Mrs. Rabbit: That's awesome that your husband is home, how long has he been gone for? What made you decide to have the girls share a room? I'm sure it'll work out great
@Kbee: not weird or tacky at all if it's at your house, though I never really think about that kinda stuff myself haha.
I'd love to get some nursery stuff done this weekend but that probably won't happen. We haven't done anything except buy the crib haha. DH is overwhelmed with a busy work season so he's not into helping around the house much
@maddyz: I love my carriers. I was thinking of getting a ringsling for the new baby but I can't decide. I have 2 SSC's ( a tula and an olives and applesauce ) and a wrap. I've only played with the wrap, never used it out of the house, I just can't get into the learning curve of it all. I was thinking of selling the wrap for a ring sling, but I can't decide
@Iced Tea: Baby is all over the map, sometimes up super high and sometimes down really low. When I was at the Dr this week she commented that "I looked good" ( haha she was being nice, I was a mess hahah ) and I said I was surprised at how much bigger I am this time around. She said that the baby was in the most awkward position, under my rib and breech, she said once she moved out of that position I'd probably feel more comfortable.

@Iced Tea: Oh, good idea on the other classes. We took childbirth classes as well and are trying to figure out if we should take some others. We're strongly considering the CPR one.
In terms of baby movement, most of baby's movements seem to be in bottom right, although occasionally I'll get some in the upper left. I didn't actually feel a lot of movement Friday and early Saturday and was getting worried, but since last night he has eased my worries by being VERY active!
It sounds like some of you are making some nursery progress! We were able to sell a few things, which now means there's enough space to paint the nursery! We bought the paint and will start painting tomorrow night. DH is putting up shelves in the closet for now. The progress has been slow, but we're getting there!
@maddyz: I haven't tried on any kind of wraps or carriers! We registered for a boba, but wondering if I some try some woven wraps too...And how sweet of you to sew some things for baby! Those will be so special. I wish I knew how to sew.
@MrsB2012: We honestly haven't done lot of nursery stuff either, so you're not the only one! DH has also been very busy with work and with other house projects as well. It's such a slow process, but he's confident we'll get everything finished by early January.

@MrsB2012: He was deployed for four months—left 2 weeks after we found out about the baby. Having him home to help is amazing!
We have one extra room that could be made into a new nursery, but it's also our office (and he's working on his masters and I occasionally work from home). Plus, since this baby's a girl, I had no idea how to decorate it since I still love my first daughter's room, plus, there's enough space for them to share a dresser/changing table, etc.. So we decided to just move them in together for now. We'll be moving again in about 2 years, and this baby won't even be in the room for at least another 6 or seven months (3 till she's due, and then she'll be in our room until she's like 3 or 4 months at least), so this is our plan for now at least!

Who was talking about the ikea tarva dresser with a changing pad on top? I'm going to test it out tomorrow with our changing pad since we have that dresser in our room and if it's not terrible, I might get one for the nursery. I'm having a hard time finding a dresser in our budget in the right finish and since the tarva is unfinished, we can stain it to match the wood at the base of our crib.
Posting at 12:30am because I can't sleep. Such fun!

How's everyone doing this morning? I had a rough last couple of weeks, but this week should be a little easier at work and I Thanksgiving is next week, so I'm excited about that! ... But it's cold and dark and rainy today so I just feel unmotivated and exhausted...
Also, thought I escaped the painful round ligament pain I heard other talk about, but here at 26 weeks 6 days I am in SO MUCH PAIN.
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
I failed my 1-hour glucose screening this morning by four stupid points, so I have to do the 3-hour test now. I scheduled it for tomorrow morning so I can just rip that stupid band-aid off. Hoping for the best, especially with the holidays coming up.

@Mrs. Rabbit: Bummer Mine's next Monday... any advice for things to do/not do the night before or morning of?
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Circusbee: No advice here, really. I've taken the 1-hour four times before (twice with my last pregnancy—passed both times—and twice with this pregnancy—passed the first time, so it's just annoying about this one. They usually tell you to eat a high-protein breakfast before your test (I had eggs with some cheese mixed in).
I'm crossing my fingers it'll go well tomorrow. I'm definitely not looking forward to fasting for so long—this mama needs to eat!

@Circusbee: Man, this weather is REALLY bumming me out today too!
My pain has gotten worse, and I think some of it is round ligament pain, but when I described another sensation to the doc last week she said it sounds like I'm experiencing pressure on the pubic bone, which "will only get worse" haha!! She showed me on a diagram how the uterus pushes on the bone more and more each week and said sometimes it can crack under the pressure
@Mrs. Rabbit: I am SO sorry! So painful that they tell you it's by so few points. Mine is the first week in Dec and I am dreading it. Fingers crossed for you tomorrow!
The thing I'm really looking forward to is that the shower my MIL is throwing me is THIS WEEKEND!! How did that happen? It seems like just yesterday I was telling her I was KU and she was taking out her little calendar to start planning
apricot / 390 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: Oh man, I didn't even think about the fasting part for the 3-hour... don't they realized that's near impossible for us?? Good luck tomorrow!
@loopedd: Wow, that makes me nervous about the pelvic bone! My pain doesn't really feel like it's related to a bone, but I guess I'm not really sure what that would feel like anyway! Hopefully this pain doesn't last long, but if I still have it by next Monday, I'll talk to the midwife and make sure it sounds like something normal. It basically hurts whenever I'm not sitting or laying down
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: @Circusbee: I had to do the 3 hour last time (I ended up passing it, thank goodness) and it was pretty miserable. I did try to limit sugar and carbs the day before, but the fasting part the morning of and through the test was awful. I was starting to come down with a cold, too. I remember lying down on three chairs pushed together in the waiting room between blood draws. Other patients must have thought I was nuts, but I felt awful. I almost threw up at one point, but she told me I'd have to re-do it if I did, so I was able to somehow make it through. I hope it's much easier for you guys!!

@loopedd: wow, how exciting!!!! Have you been stalking your registry?
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@Circusbee: Oh, i must've totally misread—so you have the 3-hour, too? Good luck to us!!
@mrs. tictactoe: I'm mostly worried about how shaky I get when I don't eat, and topping that feeling with only having stupid sugar in my body, which I don't eat that much of normally (I say as I finish a piece of dark chocolate). I'm planning on taking my laptop and a book, so hopefully I can distract myself? Wishful thinking, i know.
kiwi / 536 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: OH YES on the registry stalking -- I am the worst!! DH is really excited that someone bought this outfit that he put on there -- a navy blue Polo shirt and jeans so he can have a little "clone baby." He keeps trying to guess who it was. I think he's going to be very excited on Saturday too! I am pretty stoked for cake, too

My practice does one two-hour test - if you fail you have GD. No retesting. Honestly, it wasn't all that bad last time. I packed a cereal bar in my purse for after and hightailed it to my favorite nearby deli for a huge lunch.
apricot / 390 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: No, I'm just doing the 1-hour. I just didn't know much about the 3-hour one... I hope I don't need to do it! Did you already have it or is it later today?
@loopedd: Yes to registry stalking! It's SO hard not to! We just had a kind of last-minute mini shower last weekend with some friends who are often out of town, so we got a few things from them, but a couple days afterward, someone bought our video monitor, and I keeping wondering who it was since our next shower likely won't be until January! Maybe a family friend who we'll see at Thanksgiving this year?? It's a very generous gift, though!

Speaking of registry stalking... I think I'll check on mine right now...
kiwi / 536 posts
@Circusbee: Oooh video monitor is a good one!! Someone bought us the Britax B-agile stroller off our BRU registry a while ago and I am dying to know who it is. This is such a fun part! I figure it makes up for the aches and pains and peeing
@Mrs. Rabbit: Thinking of you this morning. Hoping you report back with good news!!
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@loopedd: @Circusbee: I want to send out my sprinkle invitations early just so I can stalk my registry. I'm so bad...
kiwi / 536 posts
@mrs. tictactoe: Oooh when's your sprinkle?! I love registries. I love buying people exactly what they want. I wish everyone would have an ongoing Amazon Wish List that I could go to for ideas! Esp now that I'm in full Christmas shopping mode.
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
@loopedd: January 10th. I'm going to wait until December 1st to send them, I think (they are electronic invites - paperless post).
Oh and I forgot my aunt is having a joint shower/sprinkle for me and my uncle's wife (she is younger than I am, so I don't really consider her an aunt) on Jan 4th. I have no idea if there will even be invitations for that, though. It will be just family, as my cousin is getting married the day before and everyone will be in town (not my town, a few hours away) already for the wedding.

@mrs. tictactoe: So Dec 2, it's registry stalking time for sure!
@Circusbee: I have to force my husband to make a wish list, and then it's like batteries and socks. It's lovely that he doesn't want anything, but come on!!

I totally forgot to post after my test yesterday, so here it goes:
The 3-hour glucose test wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it definitely wasn't preferred and if I have to do it again in the future I"m going to talk to my doctor about different options. I don't drink anything other than water (all day, every day) and a cup of coffee (no sugar) in the morning, and with the exception of a piece of dark chocolate here or there or a skinny Red Cup from Starbucks, I really don't eat sweets. I hated that I subjected myself and the baby to fasting and then had that horrible drink three times now.
This particular drink (same flavor) seemed twice as sugary than the ones I've had in the past (it also wasn't cold, so perhaps that led to it tasting much different?) The woman there also didn't give me the 5 minutes to drink it—she practically made me chug it, which was so gross. I felt really, really sick for the first hour, but then that luckily went away and I felt fine for the other two.
The waiting room was HORRIBLE. A cold front came through today and it was 30* outside and there was NO heat in the waiting area, no music, really uncomfy chairs, and despite having a wifi signal, they wouldn't give me the password. Luckily, I brought a movie to watch on my DVD, but I was still bummed. (So if you have to do this...be prepared with ways to distract yourself!)
I didn't hear any results from my doc/midwife today, so hopefully I'll hear from them tomorrow, or I'll call and see if I can get some answers!

@Mrs. Rabbit: How miserable! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I especially can't believe they left you in an unheated room for 3 hours. Bizarre.

Well, I'm awake battling the worst heartburn of my life. I've taken the max daily dose of tums (this last package I got has a specific limit for pregos) and I'm sitting up just trying not to hurl. Tomorrow I'm definitely calling to ask what else I can take because I need my sleep!
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: Oh my god... that is atrocious. How bizarre and uncomfortable! I'm so sorry it was so awful. And no results after all of that -- insult to injury!!
@Iced Tea: So sorry about the heartburn. Hope you get some suggestions for relief!!
I'm 26w tomorrow and I think I experienced my first BH contraction this morning as I was walking to work -- like a really intense tightening/cramp localized on the right size of my belly that lasted about 90 seconds and then went away. Does that sound right?? It took me a minute to think that's what it might be. But as a FTM, I have no idea!!
olive / 67 posts
@Iced Tea: I know a friend who got prescription-strength Tums, so there are options!
@loopedd: I have nothing to offer, but I am chiming in to share in the frustration of being a FTM and not really knowing what's going on...
Every time I get a random pain or ache I go through a mental list: good? bad? normal? Am I over reacting? Should I call my Doctor? OR am I under reacting and I should go to the ER? What does Google say?
Its never ending.

@AnneBird: I KNOW. And I think it only gets worse when the baby is outside!!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@loopedd: @AnneBird: At some point I think you will hit the wall where you realize you have two options....worry yourself to death over everything for the rest of your life, or just do the best you can knowing that things will happen as they may. I think we all get to a point where worry hits its peak and then subsides to a managable level, barring any specific circumstances that would create another peak (serious illness etc).
I will say though, its scarier for me before the baby is born. If I'm worried about LO I can hug him and kiss him and know that he is breathing. It's hard when you can't see them...you feel so out of control. I'm sure that feeling will change as he gets older though. Omg the teenage years....
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Lion: I'm sure you're right! Funny you should say you prefer him to be an outside baby that you can see and hug and touch... I bet I will feel the same once he's born. But for now I like to think, well, at least I know where he is at all times!
Happy weekend, everyone!

@Mrs. Rabbit: I'm so sorry that your glucose test was such a bad experience Have you heard about your results yet? I did my 1-hour test this morning, and my midwife explained to me that in the case I had to do the 3-hour test, it would be a 100g glucose solution vs. the 50g solution they use for the 1-hour, so maybe yours was actually twice as sweet like you thought!
@Iced Tea: Ugh heartburn is the WORST. Did you find out anything from your dr about something else you can take? I know sugar is a trigger for mine, and sure enough after I drank the glucose drink this morning, my heartburn was so terrible for the next 2 hours.
@AnneBird: I feel the same way as you - worrying about every little thing, and googling for all of it!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
I PASSED! No gestational diabetes for me, at least this time around.
@Kbee: So I wasn't crazy thinking that it was stronger!!! That, combined with it not being cold made it so, so disgusting. I handled the first (50g) fine (taste-wise), but 100g? YUCK! I hope nobody else here has to do the 3-hour!

@Mrs. Rabbit: Congrats!
What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?! They are calling for snow in my area which annoys me to no-end because it was 73 and beautiful yesterday.
Is anyone baking/crafting?

just making an appetizer over here for my mom's side but I am more excited that the host is pushing back dinner by a few hours so my DH will get to enjoy a warm thanksgiving meal after his work shift!

@AnneBird: We go quickly from here to my in-laws house, then to my parents house, so we don't actually prepare any of the food ourselves! I am baking some cookies tonight though, just because I love baking (and excuse to eat more sugar, ah!)
How are all the February mamas doing? It's been quiet around here lately!

I've been following along with everyone, but work has been really busy the last couple weeks so I haven't had a lot of time to comment.
This part of pregnancy is a little boring, not much going on, but the time seems to be flying by. I looked at the countdown the other day and there are only 80 days until my due date!
I am SO excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow, it's my favorite holiday! I'll be making my pies tonight. I hope everyone is doing well and has a very happy Thanksgiving!

@Aria: I know what you mean about time flying by! I was on the phone with my MIL yesterday lamenting how busy I am at work (seriously, so busy. Objectively busy) and she was like "81 days until your maternity leave and you get to meet the baby!!!!" and I was like,"NO WAY!"
Ummm way...
