@hocuspocus: what a cutie!
@MrsBrewer: it really does fly! I was torn between wanting to be home but still wanting the nurses help.

I've been having regular, painful, but not close together contractions for over 24 hours now. None of my contractions with LO1 hurt until I was in active labor last time, so this is very different for me. I sure hope this doesn't last for days. I haven't times anything because they are so far apart, but I'd guess 15ish minutes.

Wow, it's only June 8 and half of our group has already welcomed their LOs!!

@Eko: yes! I thought we were about to head to the hospital that night at 2. Decided to try to sleep a bit more, then woke at 6 and they were gone. Sigh. This is quite the tease. I'm still having them, but they are back to not very painful. I'll be interested to see if they are doing anything at my appointment tomorrow. Thanks for checking!

@Jess1483: aww that's a bummer. Keep us updated on how the appointment goes!

I finished all my lab work and am settling in for the night. The Csection is scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow! We still haven't picked a middle name

Just finished my "39 week" appointment (at 38+4 due to scheduling issues.) I'm at 2, close to 3 cm, and losing my mucus plug. I know that objectively doesn't mean much, but after 13 hours of labor with LO1, I was still at a 2, so for me, this is huge! Even if it doesn't mean labor is imminent, it should at least be a little easier. Here's hoping!

@glitterboots: can't wait to hear about your LO!
@Jess1483: sounds like progress! FX for you!

It's been quiet around here. More babies, please
I had contractions lasting over a minute and 6-7 minutes apart last night (for a few hours). Decided to try to sleep a bit before I (surely) went to the hospital and...nothing this morning (well, still having contractions, but less regularly). This is crazy! It's just so different than LO1 I don't know what to make of it. But today would have been my last shot to have my OB deliver (unless baby hangs in there 5 more days), so since it won't be today, the urgency is gone a bit. I'm at work because, frankly, it's easier than chasing my toddler around and hopefully will pass the day more quickly!

This is a dumb question... Aside from bloody show or water breaking, how will I know that I'm in labor? I don't think I am now, I'm just curious as to how and when I WILL know... I always believed it was a "you'll just know" thing but now I wonder!

@LindsayInNY: With LO1, I had incredibly painful contractions that started out of nowhere--like, couldn't stand, talk, or walk through them (I may have had gentler contractions first, but if I did, I slept through them--these painful ones woke me at 3:30). They started all of a sudden and really strong. My water didn't break naturally, and I was already sure I was in labor by the time I had bloody show. But obviously, every case is different (since I'm so terribly confused right now), so it could be different for you.

@LindsayInNY: For me the key with LO1 was timeable contractions. BH had been uncomfortable but I was never able to figure out how to time them. With the real thing it was easy to figure out the timing (even though I started out with back to back contractions while things got organized). They also got painful quickly.

@LindsayInNY: Not a dumb question because I have been wondering the same thing! My doctor assured me that it will be obvious when they aren't Braxton Hicks anymore!

I've been silently following this thread - baby was due June 4. Happy to announce that Clara Elizabeth arrived on June 5 at 10:20 p.m. It was a successful VBAC and I could not be happier with how labor and delivery went.

@DenverMom: She's gorgeous and I'm glad you were able to VBAC! Congratulations!!
