@erinbaderin: LOL! That's cute! And what kind of comment is that?! I know she's joking and all, but still. Guess from an outsider standpoint, it came off a lil rude. Guess we'll see how my boss takes it at our meeting later this afternoon!
@Bubbles: There was this chair (the original baby bjorn babysitter balance) that DS sat in since he was born up until like last month when I put it away. He loved it. It was HIS chair. It's where he sat to drink his milk or to just chill. He asked for it the very first day it went missing, but after realizing it's gone after a week or so, he gave up. I'm curious to see how he'll respond when he sees it again next year and with DD sitting in it no less! Eek!

@Bubbles: I asked my Dr about this last appt because DD loves to sit on my tummy and sometimes confuses sitting with bouncing up and down. She basically short of hitting me with a hard object in my stomach DD herself could probably not do real damage! fwiw...

I've been trying to read along and keep up with everybody's updates! It's been a crazy week for me so hopefully I can get plugged in with you guys again...
Was I right that I saw there are other potential VBAC mommas here? I had a VBAC with my DD and am hoping for another My midwife won't let me go past my due date and won't induce so hopefully I go into labor in time again.
As for my births with DS and DD... with DS my water broke at 36 weeks and found out he was breech when we got to the Dr. I was fully dilated within 4 1/2 hours and rushed for a c-section and he was in the NICU for a week. With DD, my membranes were stripped at 38 weeks and I went into labor the next day. I was fully dilated in about 5 hrs but pushed for 1 1/2 hrs but had a successful delivery.

@Mrs D: @Bubbles: I get worried about all the bumping and pushing on my belly too. I just tell myself I can't be the only one this is happening to and that baby is well protected! My DS can understand a little more since he is older but DD has no clue. Although she was looking in my belly button the other day for the baby

@keepsinging: after I said "I try to stay away from these types of stories... too sad" she replied, and I quote "I know. Lol".

@creativemomma15: Wow! Your labors progressed extremely fast!!
@MrsLilybugg: Say what?! Then why is she sharing?! Weirdo!! Some people... lol

@Alivoo01: I know! It kind of worried me with my 2nd and trying to have a vbac. I wasn't confident that I would know when I was in labor for sure because my water broke with my 1st. I was in denial a little when my contractions started with DD but we went to the hospital quickly since they moved along fast. They were about to send me home but my water broke again and I progressed really fast again.

@Alivoo01: Aww that is so cute! Hopefully he will think it is a different chair! This is why I am worried about moving DS out of his cot before the baby comes, he loves that thing.
@Mrs D: @creativemomma15: Thank you! This helps. He is a heavy little guy but I figured I am pretty bouncy!

@creativemomma15: I so strongly believe in membrane stripping. My Dr did a very "aggressive" one at 40w2d and I went into labor 12 hours later!

@Alivoo01: Boy here as well.
I'm actually struggling quit a bit with gender disappointment. Three boys is a lot of boy. And I really thought this baby was a girl

RESULTS ARE IN......It's a BOY!
took me a few minutes to let reality set in; no girl for me- just a house of 3 boys, oh my. but recollecting my dream, it was honestly the cutest baby boy ever. so pregnant 'mom's intuition' reins true again. ha
and the good news of very low chromosome problems/risk was great to see also.
The boys are very excited too- they took the news well, on all counts. when we told them, we presented them with matching "Cool Big Bro" shirts and each little stuffed animal, that they get to give baby as his first 2 gifts.
now on to Disneyland Thursday for the big reveal to the world!
I see lots of blue in my future.....
knowing sure is nice

@Navy_Mommy: right there with ya on the 3 boys. I thought 'for SURE' I deserved a girl, but I guess God sees me being better with boys... so boy it is! and this makes 9 grandsons for my husband's parents, so they now have a complete baseball team!
pea / 14 posts
@Navy_Mommy: probably because this is technically 'my' first, so I have to be happy either way to have a baby, right?... but if I actually birthed 2 already and REALLY wanted a girl, then yes, that would be a much tougher pill to swallow for sure, haha :).
Maybe on the bright side you'll get some AMAZING daughter in laws! and then your own little grandbaby girl(s)...

Broke down and bought unisom today. My lack of sleep has officially taken a physical toll on me. Total mombie. And this is with a filter to cut down on the darkness around my eyes
Cheers to hopefully a good night sleep!

@sassymama34: yay for a good appointment!
@Navy_Mommy: 3 boys is a lot of boys, but more/all the loving for mommy! Mommy's boys!!
@sbbs3: Congrats on your lil boy!! Love the "cool big bro" shirts the older ones received. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your Disneyland reveal! Sounds like so much fun!!!
@Navy_Mommy: Cute pic of you and your lil boy!! I'm struggling with sleep also. Doesn't help that my boy doesn't STTN either. He has his good days and terrible days. I just wish I knew what was wrong/bothering him so I can address it and we all can sleep. Ugh!! I've had to take daily power naps just to get through the afternoon. No bueno!

Looks like we're all tied up girls vs boys (not taking into consideration of those being team green). We're rapidly approaching October, which is where a majority of the anatomy scans will be occurring. Guess we'll see which way the scale tips come November!

I'm so jealous of all of you who know your baby's gender already! 2 hours until my next midwife appointment. I will find out if the bloodworm we did included gender or not. They'll do my anatomy scan at 18 weeks though, which is only 4 weeks away, so I guess I can wait 1 more month!

@Alivoo01: My next appointment is 10/21. Just another regular Dr appointment. I'm so jealous of seeing people's anatomy scans already. Being due the end of the month is tough.
pomelo / 5573 posts
My midwife appointment was no help yesterday - she didn't have the actual ultrasounds, just the report, so no luck on the sex, PLUS she changed my due date! She's basing it on the ultrasound I had at 8 weeks when I was measuring 5 days behind, instead of the one at 11 weeks when I was bang on - blah blah new standards blah closest to 9 weeks. There's no way that it's right, because it doesn't work at all with my cycle, and it's so frustrating to have been 15 weeks and suddenly be bumped back to 14w3d, so I'm choosing to ignore it. Upside: it gives me a few more days to go into labour naturally before they make me have a C section because they can't induce (VBAC). Next appointment isn't until Nov 4, and I'll schedule my 20 week anatomy (and sex determination!) ultrasound for the week before.
@Navy_Mommy: I'm sorry you're having hard time! On the upside, a little girl might get left out of all the boy stuff? Growing up I had friends who had twin boys and then a younger daughter and she had a hard time because the boys never let her hang out with them. And your son (I assume that's Oliver? Love the name) is adorable! So blonde!
@sbbs3: What a cute idea, to get the boys presents to give the baby! How old are they? Were they not disappointed that they didn't get to keep the presents?
@mrsrain: You're more patient than me, having to wait another month is making me crazy!
@sassymama34: Hope your scan gives you the same results!
@Alivoo01: I REALLY want to buy the Baby Bjorn bouncer for this next baby. I had two different bouncers for Bennett and I hated both of them, and I've read such good reviews of this one. I just need to convince my husband that we need to spend that much money to replace a perfectly good thing we already have....
nectarine / 2458 posts
@erinbaderin: technically the best gauge for expected due date is an early ultrasound even if you know exactly the day you ovulated because not all people have exactly 40 weeks gestation, that's just an average.
And these are my boys. Wesley Glenn is my sweet, generally gentle, snuggly boy (and he's 3 and a half). Oliver is intense and stubborn and particular (and he's almost 20 months old).

@sbbs3: Congrats on the Boy! Enjoy disneyland!!!
@Navy_Mommy: Unisom is my new BFF - I lurve it!!!!!
@Loscato: That was me last time (I actually delivered the following month) and I was so jealous of the other moms!!!
@erinbaderin: so - I had a similar freak out with K when I was pregnant. I went in to my dating US and they moved me back a whole week - I was LIVID! Whats worse (sorry TMI) DH and I only BD'd once that month thats to my crazy work schedule - so I literally knew the day I conceived which happened to coincide perfectly with LMP and O dates. I basically told the u/s tech she was wrong and that I would be taking it up with the Dr. Needless to say - they did not change my date and I went into labor 1 day after my Dr adjusted due date...which in hindsight just frustrates me more!
olive / 64 posts
@Mrs D: last time my due date was August 9, and I had DD on August 7. Being due later in the month is not as fun. LOL
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Navy_Mommy: If DS slept until 4am and came into bed with us then, that's totally fine by me! But no... homie wakes up at like 1am, 2:30am, 3:45am, and 4 something before passing out till wake up time on the weekends or I take him to daycare. He'll even sleep through the clothes change, in and out of the carseat, AND the handover at daycare. Why can't he sleep like that at night?!?!?!?!
As for your other two boys, I can totally see their personalities that you defined in their faces! Both adorable and great looking boys though. Watch out ladies! Heart breakers coming!!!
@erinbaderin: Maybe look on your local listings or craigslist or a good used one? We loved ours and were gifted other bouncers as well. I just like that it grows with the kiddo.

Birth Story:
I really wanted a med-free birth. I even took a natural birthing class. Learned a ton, but I think in the end, I learned too much! Started labor naturally after losing mucus plug at 39 weeks. Labor was 31 hours long from start to finish, I got the epi at 24ish hours.
I was cruising at first, in pain, but progressing and then I stalled for five hours at 7 cm, just waiting for my body to get into transition. I think I psyched myself out. I was so terrified of transition and had too much time to think about it. Finally, I let them break my waters and asked for the epi. I was so exhausted, hadn't slept for two nights. Took forever to get to 10 cm and then had to labor down. Pushing took 2.5 hours and was miserable. My epi was weak I could move my legs and felt a TON during pushing. My sister was there and thinks they turned it off.
Baby boy was born after some shoulder dystocia but was otherwise perfect.
This time around... I care less about a med-free birth. I just want a shorter labor. I'd still like to try without an epi but I'm open to whatever happens.

@erinbaderin: I am only patient about half the time! Right now, for example, I am super antsy!
My appointment went well, but they did not have gender results for me
I did schedule our anatomy scan for after lunch on October 26th. It was literally the earliest they would get me in! I can't wait!
Last night I started reading birth stories online. Giving birth was the hardest thing I have ever done, but I kinda can't wait to do it again...! I certainly can't wait to meet this little one.

@Mrs D: Aww, that is sweet how much your hubby wants a son. But yay for sisters! I love my sister! He will feel better after he has time to let it sink in. I think the anticipation is so tough and we build up what we want in our minds.
@Navy_Mommy: Your boys are adorable! Hugs to you. three boys will be special in it's own way!!

So...how is everyone doing? Anyone working through their nursery plans? Should we start a nursery board? Whats on everyone's short term agenda/to do lists?
My focus right now is K's big girl room - which then free's up the nursery for focus! I have enlisted my dad to help me paint, we'll maybe get going on that next weekend! Once I paint its really just accessorizing. I have all the stuff purchased - just need to put it together. Also - need to re-finish the toddler bed (some chipping paint - its a hand-me-down).
I made our finalized "registry" which is really just a wish list. Knowing we are having another girl means I am certain I will not have a shower of any kind. I am sure I'll get some more fun clothes - but planning out when DH and I will buy the other stuff. Here is what I have:
-Ring Sling
-Add'l Car Seat Base
-Bottle Warmer
-New Bottles (I'm going with Life Factory this time I think)
-Sound Machine (Marpac Dom)
-Blooming Bath
-Light Up car mirro
-Crib Mattress
-Additional Monitor Camera
-Belly Bandit
My total cost for this stuff is going to hover around $750...trying to do some in October before the holidays hit...then do the rest January/February. We spend so much during Nov/Dec as is - I dont want to add this stuff to it. Plus none of the stuff is really crucial day 1!
Second time Moms...are you thinking of repeating (or first time attending) classes? I'm thinking of doing CPR (DH did it last time) and maybe re-doing breast feeding...
nectarine / 2458 posts
@Mrs D: I want to touch up on CPR. I haven't done it since I was pregnant with Wes (in 2011). I'm actually still breastfeeding Oliver, haha, so don't need a class for that. I actually haven't gone more than 36 hours without breastfeeding a baby/toddler since April 1,2012 hahahahha.
All we need is a car seat and nursery decorations. I'm sure I'll buy other stuff, but that's all we "need." I'm glad we held onto our mamaroo! All the nursery furniture will be passed down, but we might need to re-paint the crib.
Short term to-do is figure out how we're announcing it's another boy and get ready for our big move! Movers come October 26 and we start the move from California to Maryland!
Once we get there I'll focus on the big boys' room first, cuz they're going from separate rooms to sharing, then the nursery.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Navy_Mommy: k slept with me for 8 weeks so I technically have 2 extra months but I am always scared to leave stuff to do in those early weeks with a nb BC you just don't know how it will be - every kid is so diff!
As for BFing I only made it to 4 or 5 months! I'd like to make it longer with this one!!!
persimmon / 1328 posts
@Mrs D: aww so exciting you are thinking about the nursery! We are hopefully moving before the baby comes so it will be new rooms all round - just hope we don't cut it too fine!
pomelo / 5573 posts
We're keeping the nursery the same - I love it so much I can't imagine doing another one - and moving B to a big brother room with a jungle theme. A local baby story had 30% off 3 Sprouts products today so I bought the first things - a laundry hamper and some toy boxes. I need to get moving on stuff, though, because we'd like to have it set up by December so he can have some time to transition before we need to commandeer the crib.
I also have a registry/wish list, but a lot of it is wants and not needs - a new carrier, a new diaper bag (the one we had for B was huge and we never used it, I want one that's more like a purse), a Baby Bjorn bouncer, sound machine, monitor camera. Once we find out the sex I'll probably start buying clothes because I have a real problem with baby clothes - not so many if it's another boy, though, B had SO many clothes.
We're having a date night tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday - going to see John Mulaney and then out for dinner - and B is spending the whole day, including dinner and bedtime, with his Nana. I'm FREAKING OUT! I know he'll be fine, but I keep thinking about him crying and saying Mama because he doesn't understand where I am...waaaaaaah!
persimmon / 1328 posts
@erinbaderin: Sounds great! For all my worrying about leaving LO last weekend, it sounds like he was not fussed at all. I spent the week prepping him and telling him Granny and Grandad were going to give him his bath and put him to bed, and they would be there when he woke up in the morning - and apparently he wasn't at all flustered. Then when DH and I walked in the door the following afternoon expecting an emotional reunion, he just looked up from the blocks he was playing with, said 'Hello', and then went back to building his tower!
