@Navy_Mommy: @Alivoo01: I did Stitch Fix two weeks ago and forgot to post a review. I got a pair of green chino pants (loved but fit funky); a charcoal cardigan (would have kept but had JUST purchased a similar piece from Gap and had worn it); a dress (super cute but I have 2 maternity dresses so I did not need another), a scarf (super cute but itchy so returned) and a 3 pack of maternity camis (kept...awesome!!!).
I'm going to give it one more shot at the end of this month...if I am only left keeping one thing I may skip it the rest of pregnancy!

@Loscato: how cute! love that the numbers matched up for you.
@Alivoo01: very scary I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night with some stronger than usual cramping too, but then fell back to sleep. not sure how long it lasted, but it felt like menstrual cramping. My next appt is in 1 week and I'm very anxious to get another good report. It's nice, but also scary, feeling so much better in the 2nd trimester (not much reassurance with symptoms). and my appetite seems to have died down too.
has anyone tried finding the heartbeat with a stethoscope? my boss has one he's going to let me borrow

So - I was proud of my productivity this weekend!
1) planned our meals for the whole month and did a HUGE shopping trip (grocery store, meat market, costco, trader joes and boxed.com) - spent a fortune but I am thinking it will definitely cut our costs. My goal is $400 - including household items (TP, papertowel, diapers and food of course!)
2) Cooked a ton of food for the week. Made pot roast, butternut sq soup, pumpkin muffins, oatmeal and energy bites for the week. Plus prepped two more dinners: enchilada casserole and creamy spaghetti bake!
3) Caught up on Laundry - still need to put it all away!
4) Finished 1 of 4 major outstanding projects - Halloween wreaths. 3 more to go (back hall wall paper, Kates big girl room and Kate's wreath)
I feel very accomplished but lots more to do still! This weeks list:
1) More wreaths...dont ask - I have no idea why I am in wreath mode.
2) Kate's stocking (priority #1)
3) Sorting Kate's old clothes
4) Getting the paint for Kates room - if its at the house I am more likely to just do it
If I have this stuff done by Thanksgiving I'll feel GREAT!

@Alivoo01: I bought a doppler for my last pregnancy, it was a lifesaver. I haven't used it as much this time but I still like to check in every few days.
@Mrs D: A scarf makes me laugh - that's not maternity clothes! I was at a maternity store over the weekend and they also had "maternity scarves".
And WOW, you were so productive! I'm always proud of myself when I get a big Sunday dinner made and the groceries done, you did so much more! Every Sunday I think "I should make x and then it's ready for dinner one day this week" and I never get around to it. I did make a big Sunday dinner that will give me enough leftovers to last the week but actually it was kind of a letdown - a LOT of work and good, but not great. I also made Rice Krispie squares, though, so that redeemed the weekend. I find that we keep ourselves so busy entertaining Bennett that I don't have time to do anything else. (also, can you share recipes for energy bites and whatever creamy spaghetti bake is?)
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@erinbaderin:
Energy Bites: Basically they are the homemade Lara Bars rolled into balls! There are a million recipes out there for them but my basic one is 1/4C pitted dates, 1/3C nuts and 1/3C dried fruit. I like Blueberries and almonds, raisins and cashews, cherries and almonds and blueberries and pecans. Everything in a food processor and chop until a gooey consistency you can roll into balls. I pop them in the freezer for a few - then put 2-3 (depending on the size) in individual bags/jars for snack time. I recommend chopping the nuts first, then removing from the food processor. Then get the dates and dried fruits going before add the buts back in. You can throw in whatever seasoning you like...
As for the pasta bake...its from my homegirl PW...love all of her stuff - this is a new recipe so I'll let you know how it is!

@Mrs D: Oh man that pasta bake sounds so good (less the olives, yuck), I want to eat it right now. I bet if I bought a rotisserie chicken already cooked instead of starting from raw I could whip this up pretty quickly....
Thanks for sharing!

@erinbaderin: Yes - rotisserie would work good too...I actually have the chicken boiling in my crock pot today - fingers crossed it works!

@Mrs D: ooo so jealous of your amazing productivity, I love weekends like that!
What is your butternut squash soup recipe? I want one like Panera's... is it similar? Would you mind sharing it?
pomelo / 5573 posts
@princessandthebee: I was googling Panera`s soup (never tried it) to see if it was anything like the one I made and found this, which might help you: http://cantstayoutofthekitchen.com/2014/10/18/panera-breads-autumn-squash-soup/
I make butternut squash soup by roasting a butternut squash, sauteeing up an onion, a few chopped carrots, and a few peeled and chopped apples, throwing the squash into the pot with everything else, adding some curry powder, adding some stock (about enough to cover it) and then simmering for a while and blending, but that`s not so much a recipe as it is a `going by feel`process. (you also don`t need to pre-roast the squash, it just means you have to cook for longer)
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@princessandthebee: so - I kind of wing it. Here is what I did this weekend. 1 pkg squash from costco...I think it was 2 lbs, peeled and diced. roasted for 30 mins in 350 degree oven.
In a soup pan, 2 T butter, 1 small onion chopped and 5-6 slices bacon chopped. Let that all cook up and soften (or crunchy for the bacon). Add the roasted squash and dash of nutmeg - cook for 5 mins or so. Add 4 cups chicken broth and 1.5 C 2% milk. Cook for 20-30 mins. then using my emerion blender puree it all up. At the last minute I decided to add a can of cannelini beans to make it more hearty! It was nice and yummy - but I did have some bad gas yesterday evening - maybe it was the culprit?
My Mom has made it with a more sweet variation, using some orange juice and roasted apple as well.

How is everyone feeling? I can't believe i am essentially halfway done! Since im having twins 37-38 weeks is my goal still down about 6 pds but nausea seems mostly gone!!

@sbbs3: I didn't know you could check for a heart rate via a stethoscope! How cool!
@Mrs D: Dang girl! You were super productive!! Go you!!

@momtimes3: it's been a rough week over here. LO had some kind of virus/cold and threw up several times in addition to middle of the night wakings. I've been struggling with food aversions, so even though the morning sickness is gone I'm still losing weight. I'm 16 weeks so not quite halfway, but not too far off!
Starting to feel the pressure to prepare for baby! Any projects under way for our March babies?
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@erinbaderin: @Mrs D: Thank you ladies! I'm so excited to make it!!
@mrsrain: Sorry to hear your LO is sick!
pomelo / 5573 posts
@mrsrain: Me too, starting to feel the pressure! I keep thinking of things we need to do/buy and then thinking "....I'm going to do that later." My plan is to start doing one thing a week, so we'll see how that goes. Right now most of my pressure is to buy things for Bennett's new toddler room, so that we can get that set up and start transitioning him into it. After that I guess I'll worry about the new baby?
I realized this morning that I could, at any time, go get an elective ultrasound and find out the sex of this baby (I called my local place and they said they could do it starting at 17 weeks), and knowing that is KILLING ME! I know I should hold out and save the money for something else (fancy dinner in Vegas? Decorations for Bennett's room?) but I'd love to know if I've got a little boy or a little girl in there!

@erinbaderin: I like your one thing a week idea! That's totally manageable. When will you get your anatomy scan? Mine is week 18 (2.5 weeks to go!).

I had my 4 month appt yesterday and the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler, so I got an extra sonogram! (Everything is totally fine - baby was just hiding from the Doppler. I wasn't too worried at the time, since I have been feeling movement already.) It took every ounce of self restraint to not ask the doctor if she could check the gender! I want to know so badly, but my anatomy scan is only 3 weeks away and DH wasn't with me at this appointment. I figured it would be nicer if we found out together, and I was worried it might annoy the doctor if I asked. (She's super nice, so I don't really have anything to base that on, but I still didn't want to bother her!) now I'm somewhat kicking myself for not asking, because omg I want to know the gender already!!!!!!!

@mrsrain: Boo on your LO being sick. Hope all is well now!
As for projects, I don't have anything lined up yet. I'm more excited about picking up baby stuff! lol Waiting till at least 20 weeks to do that though.
@erinbaderin: @mrsrain: Mine is during my 18 week also which is 2 weeks away. Seems so faaaar!
@Lilbear: Yay for extra sonogram!! Glad you've been feeling movement so you were reassured and not freaking out. I'm still anxiously waiting for movement.

@mrsrain: no projects underway yet but starting to feel the pressure too! Looking ahead so many weekends are already booked up in the 'holiday months' that i'm like shoot we need to get some stuff done. Thankful that i'm not scrambling to research all the baby gear/reading baby books/classes and my list is relatively small compared to last time. Thinking I may try to get hubby to help with some projects this weekend, like painting a day bed to go in the nursery...

I'm so excited for my anatomy scan tomorrow! Feeling a little guilty though since DH doesn't want to find out. He didn't want to find out with DD (and I did) and I let it be a surprise, so it should be my turn but still feeling a little bad that I'm not letting him 'vote'. I want to know!
pomelo / 5573 posts
@mrsrain @Alivoo0: Mine is the 29th, so 3 weeks from tomorrow. It feels like FOREVER!
@Lilbear: I'm impressed, I would totally have asked. But yay for an extra chance to peek at the baby!
@ksnow: It seems fair that he got to pick last time so you get to pick this time - is he going to find out too, or are you going to know and he's going to be surprised?
apricot / 371 posts
@erinbaderin: He's going to find out since he said I would never keep it a surprise successfully (organizing clothes, hanging decor, bedding...)

Hey ladies...please send some good vibes our way...heading to the hosp w a 101 fever and a sharp pain in my right side...

@erinbaderin: I know! It's driving me crazy! DH is working late tonight and if I knew baby's gender I could be sorting through baby clothes! Instead I'm watching a movie and surfing HB!
@Mrs D: hope everything is okay!!

@momtimes3: @erinbaderin: @erinbaderin: @Lilbear: Thanks ladies for all the well wishes!
I was discharged late last night after about 8 hours in the ER. I had a really sharp pain in my right side when I breathe that became excruciating with any kind of deep breathe. I was monitoring my temperature (had some chills & aches) and the Dr said anything over 100.4 degrees and I was to go to the hospital. I hit 101 around 4:30 so we left.
They ran a bunch of tests to rule out the serious items (blood clot, appendicitis, etc) - the scariest of which was the CT. Its radiation so it does have risk...thankfully I confirmed with my OB this AM that having it was the right decision.
Basically - they dont know what it is. The Dr last night was perplexed each time his tests came back negative. He finally reached the only plausible thought which was pleurisy virus - an inflammation of the coating of the lungs. He initially wanted me to stay the night and see OB in the AM - but when I told him I was scheduled to see my OB at 8am anyways he was fine discharging me after a round of anti-biotics.
I have to say I was so pleased with the hospital - with each tests they double and triple checked I was comfortable the pregnancy. This AM my Dr feels a little more that it is a gallbladder issue and is recommending I 1) keep a close eye on the fever and 2) follow a low fat diet to minimize gallbladder complications. She said I am too far along to easily have the gallbladder removed - otherwise we would be discussing that more.
So - home trying to rest and eat low fat! Fingers crossed. On the plus side, I had my anatomy scan this am and all looks good - I'll post of picture of our sweet girl!
pomelo / 5573 posts
@Mrs D: Glad they let you go, and that you got a (probable?) diagnosis and a plan, and an extra picture for the baby book!
Speaking of, I'm feeling a little guilty. I remember with Bennett all my ultrasound photos (starting from transfer, which is kind of funny - "here's a picture from when you were only 8 cells!") were carefully stored in a safe place. Last night I was sorting through the stack of magazines on my coffee table and found an ultrasound photo from this baby stuck in the pile! Whoops, sorry second child!

@Mrs D: thanks for the update! Sounds like you have a great doctor! Hope the fever goes down soon and that whatever this is resolved quickly.

Had my 16 week check today and everything looked good and we're having a BOY! DD is going to have to adjust her expectations about a little sister (and me too, I was so ready for another girl, clothes lined up, nursery design, name picked....I feel a little surprised/nervous!)
