March Mamas & Babies: 1/3 Done!

@Adira: I can't help it. She is just so cute, she needs to dress cute. All the teachers loved her headband today. and DH told me I shouldn't send her in one. What does he know?

  2. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, you're so good! I'm afraid Xander is doomed to wear sleepers for the rest of his life because Hubs handles daycare drop-off, and I just can't picture him getting Xander up and dressed in anything more complicated than a sleeper!

  3. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I figure I have 2 years tops before she has an opinion on how she is dressed. So I am going to put her in what I like as much as I can. So that means lots of dresses!! Especially cause she doesn't fit in all these cute shorts I bought her.

  4. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, I really should dress Xander more, but I fee like he goes through 5 outfits a day, so it's not worth it to me to put him in something totally cute if he won't be in for very long! These days he's either in sleepers or rompers. We're so lazy.

  5. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: You aren't lazy, laundry is a pain in the rear. We don't have that many sleepers so I couldn't dress her in those during the day. She does wear a lot of rompers too. That is what she pooped all over today.

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I LOVE rompers. Hubs doesn't like them though because they have to go over the head, so they're not as convenient to put on/take off as sleepers which just button up (or zip up, even better). And we didn't have a ton of sleepers either until I (and my mom) went on shopping sprees to buy a bunch since that's all we dress Xander in, haha.

@shopaholic: Welcome back from your trip! Can't wait to see pics of your little world traveler!

@Mrs. Blue: oh wow - the idea of having multiple multiples would probably freak me out... that is crazy that your OB has seen it even that many times!

@Adira: The slightest inkling of baby fever has made it's way into my head at times too... like you I would love to have a girl but I am pretty sure we are going to say done after two. We will probably wait a bit longer though... Hopefully your DH will come around!

  8. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@dojo: Yeah, I'm going to try not to rush him! I'm going to try not to bring it up for another month and then see where he is. And if he's still on the fence, I'll wait ANOTHER month. And then I might just be all "Okay, I'm going off the mini pill!" But if I'm still EBF and haven't gotten my period, it probably won't matter anyway.

  9. Mrs. Blue

@Adira: I would be so tempted to try to reverse psychology him and start talking about how I'd decided I never wanted more. Probably not advisable, though!

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Oh my gosh, that totally wouldn't work! He would just be all "Okay!" He never really had baby fever and didn't really want kids to begin with, haha. He just went with it because I wanted them so badly!

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Booo! I picked up Xander at 5:00 and he fell asleep in the car. I want baby snuggles, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen!

Isaac is out to get me. It is almost 4 and he has only had one nap of just under an hour. The rest of the day he has just been cranky. He is nursing now, so I hope he has another nap.

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

Well I picked up R, she didn't fall asleep like I wanted her too. Took us 45 mins to get home cause of traffic. So we played for 10 mins before she got fussy cause she didn't take that last nap. Then did bath, walked around outside, and now nursing before bed.

@shopaholic: welcome back!! i really enjoyed all the pictures you posted on IG/FB of your trip. your lil' gal is such a happy kiddo and seemed to be all smiles throughout the entire trip. you are so brave to travel so far with her as a first time mom!!

@Adira: how close do you want the age gap to be? i find that it takes men awhile to really connect, especially in the infant stage. he might come around in a few more months once xander becomes even more interactive!

@Mrs. Blue: i noticed in your recent monthly update that you mentioned a "next one" and i think my eyes turned as big as saucers, haha! you go mama! though i admit i get a twinge of baby fever every now and again as J grows, but i put an immediate stop to those thoughts. i don't know what i would do if i got a BFP right now...

speaking of pregnancies... i got my mirena IUD put in today and am really excited to not use condoms anymore! it better be crazy effective! i was really nervous about getting it put in, but it wasn't bad at all. there was a bit of spotting, but i haven't really experienced cramping or anything like that.

  15. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: I didn't have any cramping from mine. It is so nice to not have to take a pill every day and not use condoms.

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: There's not enough fun time with our babies.

@Mrs. High Heels: Well, Hubs and his sister are 14 months apart, and my brother and I are 16 months apart. I think I'd like our kids to be 15-22 months apart. Ideally, I'd like there to be less than two years between them. Which is why I want to start at least NTNP when Xander is 6 months. If I got pregnant right away, they'd be 15 months apart, but I'm assuming I won't get pregnant right away.

@Smurfette: So glad I just read your last post! It reminded me I need to take my pill!

  17. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Adira: or maybe you don't

And no there isn't enough time. Sad. I gave the teaches at DC Chickfila gift cards a couple weeks ago. I got a thank you note from one today and one line was how much she loves R's outfits

  18. Adira

@Smurfette: hahaha!!! I'm certainly not worried that I took it late!!

@Mrs. High Heels: Ehhh...what else are we going to do with our lives?!? Honestly, if we had boy-girl twins I don't know that we would have another one, but since we have two boys we would really like a daughter as well.

I've had some cramping with my Mirena and spotting for-EVAH!!! But, I love not having to take a pill, worry about condoms, etc. I'm really happy so far as long as it stays super super super effective!

Why did I want R to roll over?? She is sleeping on her tummy and I kept freaking out cause she keeps moving and then I can't see on the monitor if she can breathe or not.

I hope she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and wants to be on her back since she can't roll that way yet. But I to scared to move her now and wake her up.

  21. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Adira: you never know! you might hit the jackpot on the first cycle both DH and I are 19 months apart from our younger sibs, and we really liked that age gap.

@Smurfette: would you consider getting an angelcare monitor? it might be worth the piece of mind. or if you tiptoe in there to just see if she's breathing, would she wake up?

So Vi totally waves now. I thought it was a fluke the first several times, but I had both my parents, my sister, and DH come into the room and wave at Vi, and she waved back at ALL of them.

    So stinkin cute!

@Smurfette: that is not good. Isaac didn't have another nap today, it is almost 9:30 and he is majorly fighting sleep. He won't even nurse to sleep. Sounds like we are both in for an interesting night.

Wow! I still can't keep up! Going to try and catch up while I have some remaining jet lag.

You ladies have reminded me that I still haven't heard back from my Doctor about the insurance covering Mirena. I called to check last month, and again today. IDK wth is wrong with our insurance and not responding. I still haven't gotten a response for reimbursement for our breast pump either. Every answer I get is that our insurance hasn't responded. I SUCK at taking the pill too. I still have never even finished one pack. So the few times we've actually DTD is the only time I get worried and do the pnp method.

As for our trip! Whew! I could write about it in installments! But someone suggested I post a trip update about it, so I think I'll do that (especially since I asked so many Q's about gear).

K was an EXCELLENT little traveler! I really couldn't have asked for better. We had a total of 8 ascents and descents (flying) and she never cried during any of them! She did wake up on the last descent but I just popped her on the boob. The two ladies next to said they didn't even remember I had a baby (we took aisle/aisle seats) - she slept the last flight entirely! The two longest flights (~10 hrs each) were the ones she wouldn't sleep on at all. But she just wanted to look at everyone, babble and smile at them (even if they were sleeping and paying her no attention). No one really dared talking to us until after we landed on each flight. THEN, everyone would tell us what an amazing baby she was and that they never heard her!
Sleep was the roughest part of travel. K is very good with her night-time sleep routine and the jet-lag was harsh on the both of us the first 4-5 nights. She just couldn't go to sleep (and she does not do well with day naps, so we couldn't even get her to "nap" longer than 25 min. at a time. She was so confused and you could see her frustration. Then she'd finally fall asleep early in the morning and sleep through the morning until past noon. I'll admit the first few days, we didn't get out of the hotel until past 3pm. Luckily, Venice is a sleepy little town and we didn't miss much. I'll post more about the trip in a separate post. And pics too. Haven't uploaded DLSR pics, but here are a couple of my faves from IG (sorry for those who've seen it already).

First one is the first full day we were in Italy. 2nd one is that night when she couldn't fall asleep - poor girl.

Worst. Night. Ever. Dude wouldn't sleep for more than an hour! What happened to my good little sleeper? We have a flight to NY in 4 hours and I feel like a zombie. Great start to a vacation. Dear 4 month sleep regression: Please stop messing with my wonderful baby!

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yikes! How did the night go? I saw she woke up at 11:15 - do you think it's because she found herself on her tummy and freaked out?? How did the rest of the night go?

@Arden: Wow! Vi can wave??? That seems so early for that!! Go Vi!!!

@Mrs. High Heels: I think ideally, I'd like an 18 month age gap, but I'd like to start at least NTNP when Xander's six months, in case it takes us a while. It took us six months to get pregnant the first time.

@ALV91711: How did your night end up turning out?

@shopaholic: Wow!! So impressed that K did so well traveling!!! I thought the ear popping would really bother her! So glad to hear it didn't! That sucks about the jet lag, though I'm not surprised. I hear some babies can't even handle the 1 hour daylight savings time change! Also, she is sooooooo stinking cute!!! I love her!!

  30. Adira

@travellingbee: Booo!!! Sorry to hear your sleep sucked!!! Did he seem hungry at night or just restless?? Hopefully you all get some sleep soon!

  31. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Arden: Wow!! Impressive

@shopaholic: Glad that K did so great. Jet lag would be hard to deal with so I can't wait to hear about your trip more. She is so cute!!

@travellingbee: I am sorry you had a bad night. This 4 month sleep regression sucks.

@Adira: She woke up at 11, 1, and 3. She only really cried when I moved her since I couldn't see her on the monitor at 11. and she rolled right back to her stomach. She was more talking to herself and fussy. But all the times it didn't last more then 30 mins. She woke up again at 5:15, so I nursed her and she fell back asleep. I got in the shower and when I got out she was just talking to herself in her crib. Then fell back asleep at 6 until I woke her at 640.

I can't believe she is waking up again so much. This blows!

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, that sucks! I guess it's good she's not crying, but still, if it's waking you up, that blows. I wonder what's going on! Hopefully tonight will be better.

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: she is crying somewhat, but it isn't awful crying. So I am not going in there cause when I do it makes her upset. I don't know if before she was waking up cause she was sick and now this is the regression. It just sucks!!

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yikes. I hope whatever it is, it doesn't last too long and you're both able to go back to getting some sleep! Were you able to fall back asleep easily after she fell back asleep? For me, if I'm only up for a few minutes, I can fall back asleep easily, but if I'm up for more than 10, I'll be up for an hour! I hope you're not like that.

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Sometimes it takes me a while but last night I didn't have too much trouble. I started having a sore throat and stuffy nose last night, so I am even more exhausted, so I think that helped. I even fell asleep once when she was fussy, opps! I woke up and she was asleep, but I feel guilty about that.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Awww, don't feel guilty! If she was really upset, she would've woken you up!!! I was actually brushing my teeth last night after Xander was asleep and when I came out of the bathroom, I could hear him crying! I felt so bad and was thinking "Oh no! How long has he been crying??" So I quickly went about gathering my stuff so I could nurse him (it was 8:40), but by the time I got all my stuff together and was about to head up to get him, he was asleep again!

I guess it's both good and bad that you might be getting sick?? Being able to fall back asleep easily is definitely a perk, but being sick sucks! I hope whatever you have is mild!

@travellingbee: @Smurfette: Sounds like it was a rough night for a lot of March babies.

I would say a generous estimate of how much sleep DH and I got last night was MAYBE 2 hours. The littles just could not settle down and sleep. I have zero ideas on what is going on. They're sleeping terrible, though they'll fall back asleep as soon as we pick them up. They aren't eating good. Teething tablets had no perceptible effect. They are a little congested, so maybe that's it but they generally seem happy still. I am soo tired today, plus the last couple days I've had a sore throat and drainage which is making me even more cranky. I miss those two weeks of their 17 weeks where they actually slept. <Pity party with too little coffee going on here in my office.>

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Yikes!!! 2 hours! Are you at work?? How are you functioning??? I think if that happens to us, I'm sending Xander to daycare and staying home "sick" to sleep! LOL.

  39. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Adira: I was SO tempted, but since I just came back from maternity leave and I want to take off the day of their four-month appt., I can't really miss any time.

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I've been back at work a month and have already missed like 4-5 days! I just blame Xander: "Xander caught a cold from daycare and gave it to me!" or "I thought the babies in daycare were supposed to get sick, not their moms! I'll be out again today!"
