Oh! So I forgot to mention this, but Xander's started taking an interest in his feet! It's sooooooo funny, but when I do a diaper change, I'm always grabbing his feet and lifting them up so I can put on the diaper cream, and when I let go, Xander's gotten a hold of them and he holds them up!! It's like he's trying to help me, haha. It's so stinking cute!

@Mrs. Blue: Sorry!! This 4 month sleep regression just plain sucks. @Adira: Better count her lucky stars she seems to be escaping it! Again how did you luck out with easy baby??

@Adira: Aww how cute! I love when R grabs her feet and puts those chunky thighs up in the air.

@Smurfette: @Mrs. Blue: I'm so scared that my time just isn't here yet and soon I'll have a devil of a child! Or maybe the calm ones turn out to be serial killers?? I'm scared - there's no way we just get to have an easy baby with no side effects, right???

  4. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: haha, I am sure Xander won't be a serial killer. Maybe you will get payback during the teenage years.

  5. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, he'll probably just knock up some poor girl and I'll be a grandma at 45!

  6. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I was totally going to write he will probably just get some girl pregnant at 15 but I wasn't sure if that would offend or not.

  7. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, nope, not offended! Though I hope it doesn't happen...

    @Arden: Waving is so cute!

@Mrs. Blue: I don't even know how you are awake and functioning today. Hopefully they go back to sleeping again.

@shopaholic: Glad she was a good traveller, can't wait to hear all about your trip.

@Adira: Just after I posted last night Isaac went to sleep. He then woke up at 12am, 4am, 7am and then was up at 9am for the day. Now I'm just waiting to try and get him down for a nap. I hope today doesn't go like yesterday. It is so cute when babies play with their feet!

@Smurfette: I'm sorry R's sleep is getting worse again. Why can't these babies just learn to sleep?

  9. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Yuck - sounds like you had a rough night too. Was he hungry at all for those wake-ups or just restless? Hopefully tonight is better!

@ALV91711: Sorry you had a rough night as well. Seriously what is with these babies. Don't they know how wonderful a good night's sleep is!!!

@shopaholic: I am SO impressed that she was such a good little traveller! I would love to hear more details about how you managed, tips, etc.

@Arden: That sounds so cute - yay for waving!

I am definitely in the club of babies who are not sleeping well at night - I thought I was annoyed before when Liam was waking once in the night... but now it seems like has his mind set on 3: 11:00, 2:30. and 4:30 uuuggggggggggg

At least last night DH offered to wake up with him so I could get a little longer of a stretch of sleep - but we only prepped one bottle so I was still up at 4:30 with him.

Sorry you all are having sleep issues! I guess Andy are I will be joining you in a few weeks

He has always woken up at least twice overnight - three times before we started doing a dream feed. Hopefully it won't get too much worse!

@Smurfette: Misery loves company, right?!? In the middle of the night last night, I actually thought, "Gah, I hope ours aren't the only ones doing this because then it will mean it's just an age-related phase!" Then, I felt immediately guilty and sent lots of good sleep vibes to all of you.

So R ate all 4 of her bottles today and even everything in them but an 1/2 oz. They said after her 1st bottle she acted like she wanted more. So they gave her another 2 hours later, then 3 hours later for her other two. So now I am wondering if I need to send 5 oz again instead of 4.

She didn't fall asleep on the way home tonight despite I know she was tired and due for a nap. Tried to get her to nap on Ktan when we got home and she almost did but then would wake herself up. Crabby pants tonight. Just put her in bed after falling asleep nursing. Hopefully she does wake back up.

I feel bad I noticed a big scratch on her leg, I guess from her fingernails. I finally got her to let me file them tonight. I really need to cut them but she won't stay still so I won't do by myself

  17. dojo

    persimmon / 1223 posts

@Smurfette: we send 5 oz in our bottles - it's so hard to know how much is the right amount right?! I feel like I don't want to send too little so that he is still hungry but I don't want to send too much so that it gets wasted. How much do you typically get per pump session? I started sending more when I realized that I was getting about 5-6 oz (or more) each time I pumped and he seemed to finish bottles most of the time.

I have had some success cutting Liam's nails while nursing - he seems to let me hold his fingers relatively still. Of course as soon as I cut them... they are magically long again

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@dojo: Seriously, how do their nails grow so fast?

I used to send 5 oz bottles, but so much was getting wasted, I stopped and started sending 4ozs. Sometimes she will only drink 2 ozs. I usually pump 6-8ozs in the morning and then 4 usually each other session. Today I pumped 17ozs total. I made 3 5oz bottles for tomorrow, and then have 2ozs in the fridge still. I am hoping she will only need two bottles tomorrow since she will be getting to DC late since we have to go to the doctor. I am hoping I can just nurse her right before we leave. Or even after if I need to, depending on how the shots go.

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh wow, hungry girl!!! I know Xander eats three 5oz bottles and him and R are similar in size. But he also always acts like he wants more after he finishes a bottle - I think he just drinks them too fast. Could that be the case for R?

How do you nurse R? I cut Xander's nails when I'm nursing him (once he's gotten to that sleepy phase). I nurse him cross-cradle hold so he's lying on his side across me. I just cut whichever hand is up, then when I flip him to the other side, I cut the other hand. Maybe you could do that with R?

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: She has never eaten that much at school before. Usually she leaves an 1/2 to 1 oz with every bottle. Even when I sent 5oz bottles before.

I nurse the same way. I still have to use the boppy to support her cause otherwise she is too small. I usually file her nails that way and then do the other side when we switch sides. She still moves so much doing that, even if she is half asleep. I really am just scared to use the cutters. Her hands are so small, I don't want to cut her.

  21. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: He was hungry. Usually he has one wake up were he isn't hungry, but he skipped that one last night.

@Smurfette: They need to learn how wonderful it is and soon! I don't like cutting baby nails, especially since I have cut Isaac twice, boy was he mad.

I'm crossing my fingers that we all have good sleeps tonight.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Do you have infant nail clippers? That's what we use and they seem to work well. I haven't injured Xander yet!

  23. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Smurfette: I haven't gotten the hang of filing and I'm too scared of clippers. I bite A's nails while he's nursing. Works great!

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yep! I tried to do it over last weekend and she just kept moving so I chickened out.

@aprk: I tried biting and I couldn't get anything cause her hands are so small. Her nails aren't even that long just pointy

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I can only clip Xqnder's nails when he folks asleep nursing. Otherwise he moves too much and I'm afraid if hurting him too!

@Smurfette: it is tough! So tiny but so cute!

  27. dojo

@Smurfette: We use the Piyo Piyo nail scissors and would highly recommend them - I was so scared to use them at first and would try to file down Liam's nails but it wasn't working too well and he didn't seem to like it - tried the scissors and I haven't poked or snipped any skin and it is so easy now that I've gotten comfortable using them.

Ugh... getting up at 5:00 is getting to me... soooooo tired....

  29. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I hear ya. I miss being able to sleep in on the weekends.

R woke up at 1 and 445 last night. Both times hungry. But at least both times went back to sleep pretty easily. Then she woke up at 715 for the day. We are at home for another hour before the doctor. Not looking forward to shots.

  30. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: hopefully you can get some extra sleep this weekend.

@Smurfette: Good luck with the shots.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I wonder if she's going through a growth spurt! Didn't you say she ate most of her bottles at daycare yesterday too?? Is she getting her 4-month vaccinations today? Good luck! Xander got pretty hysterical when he got his, but he only cried for maybe 15 seconds and I held him and gave him his pacifier and he calmed down pretty quickly. Hopefully R does well too.

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I think it might be a growth spurt. Is there one at 4 months? I am scared for shots. She cried pretty hard for the 2 months one.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: According to KellyMom, there is one at 4 months! So I'm guessing R is going through it! Maybe if R is pretty upset about the shots, you can whip out a boob and nurse her? That always works with Xander to calm him down.

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

So I cut her nails while she was playing. I cut her skin:( just took 10 mins to stop bleeding

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh no!!!!! Poor R (and poor Mama! It was probably more traumatic for you!!)!! Did she cry?

I need to cut Xander's nails. When I got him this morning to feed, he had a huge cut on his face. His forehead is just so dry and itchy, he's constantly scratching at it! I don't know how to get him to stop.

  36. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: She seemed more annoyed that I was keeping a cloth on it to stop the bleeding. This is why I didn't want to cut them!

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I know!!! Now I know you'll never cut them again! How'd it happen? Was she just not holding still? I definitely can't cut Xander's nails when he's awake - I have to do it when he's snoozing on the boob or else he moves too much.

  38. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: She wasn't really moving. I just accidentally cut the skin instead of the nail since it was really long, the sides were just sharp. Mom fail

I usually need to cut K's nails once a week and its traumatizing every time. The only way I can cut them is if DH bottle feeds her and I cut them while she's distracted. I use a regular small clipper so it's fast. I think I cut her finger the 3rd time I ever cut her nails and it bled for a long time so I still get really anxious every time I need to cut them.

@Adira: @Smurfette: @ALV91711: @Mrs. Blue: Thank you ladies! I do hope K will be a world traveler and experience all this world has to offer!

@Mrs. High Heels: Are you guys done at 2 kiddos or do you want more? I say 2 is my max, but I can already see how it's easy to want another when they grow so fast!

@Smurfette: Yay for R rolling!!! K has done it a couple of times with a tiny bit of assistance getting started. But I think she's on her way to doing it on her own and diaper changes are getting tricky! I second the Angel Care monitor. That thing gives me peace of mind. I always risk waking her and tiptoeing back in just to turn the thing on if we forget. But then I rest easy after that!

@Mrs. Blue: hehe - it can definitely be a possibility! I've seen multiples of multiples! Maybe it's in the water?

@ALV91711: @Smurfette:@travellingbee: @Mrs. Blue: @dojo: Totally sounds like growth spurt and/or 4 month sleep regression! I'm pretty sure we started a bit of sleep regression during our trip too and for sure a growth spurt, but can't pinpoint it as well as you guys because we were/are dealing with major jet lag issues. So we had a week's worth of terrible sleep in general. K's been sleeping better since we got home, but I've been getting up with her a few times a nights and she doesn't have as much of an appetite. We did have a few night of looong feedings 3-4x's on the last week of our trip. I did a few measurements at home myself and I *think* K is 14lbs and about 24 1/2" now! IDK how accurate they are, but she for sure grew in length and weight! If I'm right, then my lil peanut is getting close to the 50th percentile mark! How'd that happen?

@Arden: Wow! What a little charmer! So advanced!

@Adira: Aww! So fun! K grabbed her feet for the first time on our trip and my sister got this picture! I know Arden said on IG that Vi started grabbing feet too! K's been really funny since she discovered she can control and move her legs and feet. Such a hoot!

@dojo: Scary story about the Piyo Piyo nail scissors! My ILs babysat while I went to the dentist yesterday. I always leave a nail clipper or the scissors on top of the ottoman near K's play mat (so I can clip one or 2 nails when I get a chance). My MIL didn't notice and I guesswhen she moved some stuff on the ottoman to sit on it with K, K managed to get ahold of the scissors and pull the safety cap off! When MIL (who always plays on her tablet while holding K) looked at K, she had the scissors open and right below her chin at the neck! My MIL said it was so scary! Even though they are blunt scissors, K managed to open it with the blade parts able to cut her! So, now I guess I have to baby-proof and think of those kinds of things while K isn't even crawling yet!

    * A little news I can finally share though... my little sister is Pregnant!!! So Kaitlyn is going to have cousin 10 months younger than her!!! I'm happy for Kaitlyn and my sister of course! But everyone thinks they're crazy young... 25 & 26 and married less than a year. But they decided to give it a try as soon as K was born because she wanted our kids close in age, and got pregnant on their 1st try! No OPKs or charting or anything! Ah, the joys of being young and fertile! We were so excited her 12 week (+) appt. was yesterday and everyone was hoping to find out gender, but her Dr. didn't even want to give her an U/S and won't send her out for a gender scan until 18 weeks. I told her to change docs (and finally she agreed her OB's office machine sucks and wants to) and maybe they'll do those mall u/s to find out gender soon. We would both love if we have girls the same age, but of course a boy would be fun too!
