@Smurfette: Thank you! Yup, I've decided that I better start pulling out the clothes that are just labeled 6 months. So cousing if they mean 3-6 (like Carter's) or 6-12. I figured things better get worn loose or not, or I might forget to use them.
@Adira: Thanks! Xander looks soo teeny and adorable! Just wanna squeeze him! hehehe!
@ALV91711: Thank you! Glad Issac slept most of the way for you! Good luck with the crib tonight!
So I definitely think K is going through a growth spurt. She was a lot sleepier than normal today. Napped 3 times today, but was actually fussy before each nap. Usually she is not fussy and just fights sleep. I actually got her to nap (for 20 min.) in her crib! I don't think that's happened since she was 5 weeks old! She's been nursing longer each session, never wants to let go. But ends up with more poopy diapers, so I wonder if I'm over-feeding her. Went to the Farmer's Market to buy some veggies to try feeding K, but chickened out today. And DH left for an evening football game, so he was worried if she had any reaction, I'd be alone. Maybe we'll try tomorrow! Why am I so reluctant about solids when everyone else is so excited about them?

12:45am and Isaac woke up for the first time. So far the crib is winning. I guess we will see how the rest of the night goes.
We also bought isaac's next car seat today. There was a really good sale and we saved $100. And we are going to go get a high chair for him tomorrow.

@ALV91711: Glad you finally made it home! And actually had a decent night's sleep!!
@shopaholic: No worries! I'm not excited about solids either! It's all just too stressful to me, especially because Xander HATES it, haha. And I didn't really think breastfed babies COULD be overfed because they are in complete control of how much they get from the breast, so I don't think you really need to worry about that!
So we tried rice cereal yesterday. I made it really thin and Xander wasn't completely horrified by the whole thing, but he definitely wasn't into it! Whenever Hubs got a spoonful in his mouth, he just let it all fall back out and looked disgusted. We might try again today though.

@shopaholic: I say don't rush them if you aren't ready!
@ALV91711: That is awesome!! That was not the case in our house last night
@Adira: Glad that it went over a little better!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: glad the cereal went better. I'm sure after a few tries he will get it.
The crib went good. He stayed in it until abot 5am. Then he came to our bed. It was nice to not have to hear him squirm around. I hope this will be an ongoing good thing. Today I'm going to try naps in there and see how that goes since he still wants to be held for them.

Blah... Just dropped Xander on his head. I know he's fine because he basically just slid to the floor from my lap onto a rug and didn't hit any harder that when he falls over while sitting up, but now Hubs is being a jerk because I'm the one that dropped him.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: so he only got up twice? That is great! Was he so excited to see Daddy?
@Adira: aww! R fell twice today from sitting up onto the floor. So tell your DH at least you only did it once!
2nd tooth is up!!!!! She loved swimming today.

@Smurfette: love the 2nd pic such a cute pout
@Adira: I am mean and would say back to him the reason he has not dropped is that you are holding him more!!
oh my gosh ladies we just got back from another weekend at beach this time with LO and grandparents! Fri night he was with grans and he was a bit fussy and up at night. Sat night he was with us and he slept from 9pm to 6:30am!! thatz a first sleeping the whole night. I was getting freaked out though and kept checking on him thru the night. Hoping he continues with sttn tonight so I can get some good sleep in. And he rolled a few times yesterday, thatz a first too with rolling so much!
@shopaholic: I haven't started solids yet and in no rush either. I am waiting until next week's 6mo appt. I was excited a few weeks back and got some 1st foods but since my pedi suggested to wait some more my excitement seems to have gone down.

Anyone done halloween shopping yet for LOs? I have been eyeing a cute batman outfit on etsy but its almost $40!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@silver1: We got the strawberry from Carter's during their 50% off sale. Then have an outfit from the Gap.
That is great about STTN!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, look at those chubby thighs!!! She is so cute! And what is that cool shaded thing???
@silver1: haha, good point!! I definitely do the majority of the baby holding!
And OMG, what a great stretch of sleep!!!! 9:00 to 6:30 is AMAZING!!! Xander doesn't even do that! Congrats!!! I hope it wasn't a fluke and it continues for you!
As far as Halloween shopping, my SIL gave us an unused lion costume, so I think I might be lazy and go with that this year!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: We got it Target today. It was only $20! It should hopefully still work next year too. The shade part comes off or reclines if you want it too.
And a lion would be adorable!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: That is so cool! I'll have to look for something like that next year. It's starting to get cool here, so probably no more beach trips for us this year.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I would look at Target and see if it goes on sale in the next month.

Yikes, Xander just woke up screaming his head off. I have no idea what's wrong so I'm just nursing him and hoping he'll go back to sleep.

my daughter did say something really sweet just now that lifted my spirits though...
N: mama, are you sick?
Me: yes, I'm sick...
N: I'll make you happy!! ::smiles really big::
N: are you happy now?
Me: yes, I'm happy now! thank you Noelle.. I love you.

@Mrs. High Heels: Your daughter is incredible. Good job in raising her, momma, and get better soon!

@ALV91711: that's great you squeezed in some good sleep!
@Adira: aww i freaked out too the first time i dropped N - she was arching her back and i didn't respond fast enough to get her so she fell off and hit her head. freaked me out big time, but babies are surprisingly resilient!
@Smurfette: love the pictures! haha she looks so diva in that 2nd pic with the sunglasses!
@silver1: I've been browsing here and there but haven't pulled the trigger on any specific halloween costume yet. I did manage to sell N's old carter's costume for double what i bought on ebay though!

@Smurfette: such a cutie! He was definitely happy to see his dad. Isaac keeps searching him out and giving him big smiles. It is so cute.
@silver1: That is a great sleep. I hope it continues. I haven't evev thought about a Halloween costume yet.
@Adira: I hope he went back to sleep and stats asleep for the night.
@Mrs. High Heels: I hope your feeling better soon. What a sweat heart your daughter is trying to make you feel better.
Crappy short naps today and now at 7 pm he is nursing and I'm pretty sure will go to bed. I'm wondering what tonight will bring.

@Smurfette: oh be still my heart, those pictures!
@silver1: STTN, yay!
@Adira: aw, poor buddy
@Mrs. High Heels: so sweet. Feel better!
@ALV91711: good luck tonight
Y'all, I'm trying something crazy. You know A's sleep sucks the big one, and last night was ROUGH. My husband is away on business so I had him move our mattress into A's room. He's sleeping on his mattress on the floor, and I am sleeping on my mattress next to him. We look ridiculous, but I am so concerned about being able to care for A without a break while being sleep deprived. I hope this helps!! At the very least I won't have to get up and walk down the hall when he wakes up 7,347 times during the night. Wish us luck!

@Smurfette: so cute!!
@Mrs. High Heels: aw I hope you feel better soon! That's miserable. I feel like I'm coming down with something.
MIL was here this weekend and it was hectic. But nice for L to have his grandmother here. We tried warmed purées today and he gobbled them up! So that's the secret! He doesn't like cool or room temp. food!
@aprk: good luck! I understand the waking bit. I just don't know how to soothe him back to sleep without feeding him. Sigh. Getting soooooo sleep deprived.
I ordered a dinosaur costume from The Children's Place. I wanted a sleeveless costume so we could put a short sleeve or long sleeve shirt underneath since it is sometimes pretty warm here still in October.

@Mrs. High Heels: how sweet! I hope you feel better soon'
@ALV91711: Adorable! Fingers crossed for tonight.
@aprk: Good luck!
@Adira: Hope it was a one time thing!
So R was super fussy this evening. She went to bed earlier, and even fell asleep nursing. 4 hours later, she is up screaming again. The tooth already popped through which I thought was the painful part. She keeps waking up earlier and earlier and just cries and cries till we get her and won't settle down good until we nurse or bottle feed her.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Awww, N is so sweet!!! Sorry to hear that you're still sick though! I think it's totally possible that you just caught something else, especially since your immune system is probably compromised by the first virus. Ugh! Hope you get better soon!!
And that's exactly what Xander did! He arched his back and kicked with his legs and just slid right out of my hold! He didn't learn his lesson though, because he still does it, haha.
@ALV91711: He did!!! He slept 8.5 hours! And probably would have slept even longer, but I had to get him up to eat before I went to work! So I have no idea what he was freaking out about, but I guess he was fine when he went back to bed! How did your night turn out?
@aprk: I don't blame you one bit for moving in with A! I probably would want to do the same thing if Xander was waking up so much! Hope you both got a decent amount of sleep!!
@travellingbee: Maybe I need to warm up my purees!!! I tried making them room temp and Xander wasn't a fan, so maybe I'll try heating the cereal tonight and see how that goes! Thanks for the tip!
@Smurfette: Awww, poor R (and poor Mama)! She still in the Wonder Month, right? Maybe once this is past, things will get better? Hopefully?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: We have 11 days left in the leap. She was SO good all day Saturday, napped great, wasn't fussy at all. Then was up a lot that night. Yesterday, the 2nd tooth showed up, so I am hoping the worse of the teething is over. Maybe then she will start sleeping better. This two times a night sucks.
I never thought that I would be so happy if I could just get a 5 hour stretch of sleep. I know others have it worse but I am dragging every day. I hate DH and I have no time together, cause we get to sleep, eat dinner, prep bottles, and we are in bed to try and get some sleep before she wakes up.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, 11 days left??? Booo!!! Though hopefully now that the teeth is up, she'll start feeling better and be a little less fussy and wakeful for you!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Oh, she still didn't fully crawl. She definitely can make her way around the room, by scooting and semi-crawling, but it is a lot of of up and down. I am ready for her to take off!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@travellingbee: I hear ya. Sometimes running his back will do, other times I have to hold him really tight and rock in the glider for a while
@Smurfette: I bet the crawling is also affecting R's sleep - her brain is working overtime to try and figure out how to do it!
We slept pretty darn well last night. A still woke up four times but I got him back to sleep so much faster since I was right there. Plus, I never had to stand up! I feel much more rested.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I still can't get over how close R is to crawling!!! Xander's no where near getting up on all fours! Go R!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: @aprk: Sometimes if I hold R across my body, super tight and close to me, I shush over and over again, while patting her back, she will go to sleep.
@aprk: I am hoping that is it. I get that she is trying to figure it out and with teething, she might not just be relaxing well enough to sleep. I am just worried she is getting used to eating in the middle of the night. But she is eating the same during the day, so I don't know. Maybe a growth spurt?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: @aprk: What @Smurfette: described works for Xander too - holding him across my body, patting his back, and shushing into his ear will usually put him to sleep if he's fussy and needs help.
@Smurfette: It certainly sounds like a growth spurt to me, but hasn't it been going on for a while now? I thought growth spurts only lasted a few days...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah the wakeup have been over a month now. At first it started just once and it kept getting earlier and earlier. Then it started with 2, but I thought that it was due to teething. So not sure what is going on. She sucked down 5 ozs at midnight Sat night.....DH thinks this weekend was a growth spurt. I don't know what is going on....
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Maybe she's making up for all those days when she first started daycare and wouldn't really eat? She's catching up on all those calories, haha, and once she catches up, she'll go back to sleeping! (this is me making stuff up)
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
For some reason when he's crying he HATES to be held tight. Weirdo. He was up every hour last night. I am a zombie. gonna be a rough day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Yikes! Bummer that the holding him tight doesn't work! But maybe still holding him while patting his back and shushing might work? Just hold him more loosely? Sorry about your rough night!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So I forgot to tell you ladies about my experiment! This week, I've brought my Medela PISA to work and I plan to use it ALL WEEK!! I had a very successful pumping session with it on Friday, so I'm really hopeful to get my normal amount with this pump! If all goes well, I'll be able to leave the PISA here at work and use my old pump at home!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@aprk: I'm glad you feel more rested. How long are you on your own for?
@travellingbee: That is awesome that he gobbled them up. It is so much fun to watch them eat.
@Smurfette: That must be so much fun to watch her move around the room.
@travellingbee: I hope you are able to get a nap in today.
Last night Isaac got up 3 times to nurse. The one time DH went and got him and brought him to me, that was awesome. Then I guess he got up a fourth time and I didn't even hear him, but DH did and went and got him but all he wanted was a cuddle, so he slept in our bed for two more hours before getting up. Usually DH is the one to not hear him, not me.
Isaac wouldn't nap this morning although he is so tired. So I took him for a 40 min walk. He fell asleep after 20 min. Then I just stood outside and talked to the neighbour and kept him moving. He only slept for 30 min, but I guess better than nothing.
Our house is slowly getting cleaned and organized. Mostly in thanks to DH.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: Aww, I am sorry!! Those days are so rough. I seriously don't understand why these babies don't like sleep!
@Adira: Fingers crossed!!
@ALV91711: glad that you slept through one wake up!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Holy crap - how did this thread go 18 hours without chatter?? @Smurfette and I have been slacking!!
So my first day using the Medela PISA went really well! I was able to pump 13oz at work, which put me at 15oz for the day, meaning no extra pumping at night! Yay!
Also, I met the new daycare teacher for Xander. She seems weird, but I don't know her that well yet. Our beloved teacher that left seemed weird when I first met her too, so I'm hoping this woman turns out just as awesome.
