    @Adira: LOL!
Glad that the new pump is working for you. Going to be so nice not to have to carry a pump back and forth to work each day. I hope you end up liking the teacher.

So we got a notice that next week is picture day at school. Is it bad if I don't sign up R? I don't want to feel like I have to order pictures. I mean we got 4 month pictures done, and are doing 8 month. Do I really need school/6 month?

@Smurfette: I would skip it if I were you! You're already getting professional pictures done and the school ones probably won't be as good, so you'll feel bad if they take pictures and then you don't order any! Better to just skip it altogether! I would probably skip it myself and I'm not having any professional pictures taken!

L slept well last night with only one feeding. Holy full boobies! I just did my first pump at work (he'd already eaten before day care) and got 9 oz in 10 minutes.

Also, he loooooooves solids now!!! Crazy!

@travellingbee: Awesome!! R got up twice, but the 1015 wake up DH got her asleep without eating. Are L's teeth all the way up?

I took Oatmeal to day care yesterday and they said that she loved it. I can't wait to try a veggie this weekend with her.

@Smurfette: I would skip the photos.

@travellingbee: That is an awesome sleep!

Last night we tried barley cereal and he loved it. He even ate his pears not mixed with cereal.

@travellingbee: Yay for one wakeup!!!! And so jealous of your awesome pumping session AND that L likes solids!!!!

@ALV91711: Gah, your baby loves solids too?? WTF is wrong with Xander??

  7. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: I don't think anything is wrong with Xander. Some days Isaac eats nothing and others he gobbles it up. I find if he is tired he doesn't like to have food. Maybe try in the afternoon on the weekend after a nap.

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Nothing is wrong with him!! I agree with @ALV91711: try it at lunch time over the weekend. Maybe he just isn't as hungry at night.

  9. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Yeah, that's what I tried this past weekend, but no go. Oh well! Maybe I'll just nurse him forever!

@Smurfette: Yeah, lunch time is what I tried this past weekend! But I guess I'll just try again next weekend. Silly baby!

@Adira: nothing! My bff's one year old finally started liking solids last month. It is not necessary for them to eat solids so don't stress!!

  12. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: one day he will start and gobble it all up.

Looks like Isaac misses his next ped appt. I just called because he is supposed to go next month and apparent they book three months in advance so I can't get an appt until December. Wh did they not ever tell me this before! At least be has his 6 month appt for shots at the health unit next week and they will check him out, but I'm still frustrated.

@ALV91711: Can you ask them to call you if they get a cancellation?

@ALV91711: That sucks. They should definitely warn you ahead of time if they are booking out that far ahead!

@adira: I'm sure Xander will love solids before you know it!

We tried solids with K a few weekends ago and she was kinda getting it and loved water but haven't given it to her since. We've been too busy?!? We're going to the Outer Banks next week and might try it again since we have a whole week with her. I was in a huge rush for her to try solids and then once she did I calmed down a lot.

@ALV91711: WTF! They should have definitely told you that prior so you could schedule it earlier! Booo!!

@Smurfette: I didn't think about that. I will have to call them back and ask.

Why will my baby not nap? At night I can put him in his bed no problem. In the day, he will be asleep or almost asleep, I put him down and he wakes himself up wide awake. He only sleeps when I hold him.

I'm going to ask the boards.

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: I am sorry!! R was like that too till she started day care and she had to learn to nap on her own.

When L was teething we got into some bad habits of him nursing to sleep/sleeping in my arms. Lately he won't go to sleep or back to sleep unless he's nursing. The last two nights I have been putting him down awake. We had to do some crying it out. Two nights ago he did pretty well. Only one 7 minute cry at the beginning of the night and then when he woke up at one he ate and was able to go back to sleep easily- Only cried for a few seconds. Last night was a little bit harder. He cried for about 15 minutes. But then he was asleep. He woke up at 11, ate, and when I put him down, he was awake but fell asleep easily. Then he woke at three, and when I tried to put him down after feeding, he wouldn't go back to sleep. After an hour of him crying it out, I couldn't take it anymore and brought him in bed with me. I feel so defeated! What do you do when crying it out doesn't work?

@ALV91711: I think I heard that nap sleep and night sleep are totally different. Sorry to hear it

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@travellingbee: I am wondering too. CIO doesn't seem to be working on R right now. I don't know what is going on with her. The other night she cries, falls asleep for a minute or two, cries, sleeps another min, cries, and repeats. She just can't get settled down at all, even after nursing. We had a rough night last night.

  22. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Smurfette: Yes he was exactly the same. He would cry, fall asleep, cry, fall asleep and repeat for an hour. I'm so tired.

@travellingbee: I am really hoping we get something figured out this weekend, cause DH is back on the road next week, so I am solo all next week.

J got his 6 month vaccinations yesterday, was really fussy with the bottle, took awful naps, and for the first time in a loooong time he would cry if I tried to put him down to sleep at night! He also woke up at 4 am. Can't remember the last time that happened. Wonder if its because of the vaccinations, or maybe because his bad naps led to bad nighttime sleep, or because his top two teeth are cutting through... maybe he's learning a new skill? All of the above???

@ALV91711: I'm sorry he's not napping for you - that's so hard! Do you do a naptime routine and turn on white noise for him? Blackout curtains?

@travellingbee: @Smurfette: Sounds like we're all having some sleep issues.

@travellingbee: last night after J woke up at 4 am, he would not go back down either. DH had to hold and rock him for an hour before putting him back down. I usually don't do full on CIO in the middle of the night, only for the first put down of the night.

@Mrs. High Heels: Yikes! Sorry to hear J's had a rough time! Now I'm scared to get Xander's vaccinations on Friday! Hopefully he feels better soon and goes back to better naps/night sleep!

@Mrs. High Heels: Sorry J and you had a rough night. I am scared for the shots on Friday now. It is PJ day at day care, so hopefully she will be comfy and won't be too fussy for them.

  27. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@travellingbee: I've heard the two sleeps are different too.

@Mrs. High Heels: Our nap time routine is rocking and lullabies. His room is pretty dark. Yesterday he actually had a nap in our bed, so that's a start. I hope J is feeling better from the shots and the wake up was a one night thing.

Our first two nights home Isaac did so good. Only waking 2-3 times. The last two nights were horrible as he woke up lots and had a two hour awake period each night. He was so tired and neither of us could get him to sleep. Tonight is so much better, it is 3 and he just had his second wake up.

This weekend DH won't be home and I'm considering nap training while he is gone. Am I crazy?

I made sweat potatoes for Isaac for the first time today and he loved them.

Isaac is going to be a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. We were thrift store shopping today and I found a sleeper that is a costume for $1.50. Perfect as we aren't actually going anywhere.

    @ALV91711: So cute!!

And no I don't think you are crazy to nap train while your husband is gone. If you can handle the crying then do it!

So I'm not sure if it's the Medela PISA or me, but every day this week, I pumped half an ounce less than the day before. I don't think I noticed this kind of reduction with my old pump, so I'm not sure what's going on...

  31. Adira

So tried again with solids. Tried offering rice cereal and he refused to even try it. He sees the spoon and just clamps his mouth shut! So then we tried giving him half a banana. Every time he went to touch it, he'd pull his hands away and looked disgusted. Like he knew it was food and didn't want anything to do with it! Then we mashed some up and put it on his hands, so he did end up getting it in his mouth and he didn't seem utterly horrified by it, but he didn't seem thrilled! And whenever I tried to just offer it to him, he'd clamp his mouth shut and turn his head away. This baby is never going to eat!

@Adira: He will!! Just give it some time.

@Smurfette: I'm thinking I might try in the afternoon for the next three days and see how that goes - probably doing it close to bedtime doesn't really help!

@Smurfette: Also, I'll ask the pediatrician if she has any suggestions about the solids. Your 6-month appointment is tomorrow too, right?

@Adira: he will get it eventually. Isaac ate about one bite tonight. But he was tired and I think that is why.

@Adira: @Smurfette: I can't wait to know how big your babies are!

@Adira: Maybe stress at work build up as week goes on? I notice mine goes way down anytime Im rushed or in stress. Aww Xander will take to foods soon enough guess he needs his sweet time :-). I love bananas hopefully J takes to it. Otherwise my backup plan is avocado or mashed peas. J's 6 month checkup is coming up next week. Can't wait for appt. and to start trying solids!! Not looking fwd to vaccinations though.
@Adira: @Smurfette: Can't wait to hear about your LOs!!
@ALV91711: Cute!! Great idea I want to check out my local thrift store.
So J has been sttn this week 4/5 nights!! Hoping this trend continues and hoping same for all mamas here and LOs!!

@silver1: That is awesome!! I am totally jealous.

So R woke up at 1, and I was so happy, she went 6 hours before waking up. Then woke up at 5 and then 615 for the day. Only DH told me this morning, she woke up at 11. He was up working still and heard her. At least it only took 20 mins to get her back asleep this time. I am bummed. I was hoping things were getting better.
