@travellingbee: K also pays so much attention to details! Love tags, the dog, random things. It's fun to watch her be so observant!

Last night DH went to bed earlier, and K woke up a bit after 1:30, when he was already in bed. So we know now that it wasn't just from him making noises. But I ended up nursing her back to sleep. She woke up again around 7:30am, which is a better stretch than I've had in a week. Got her back to sleep for another couple of hours after nursing again. Hoping tonight to get back to just the one early morning wake-up.
Today was a step BACK in the naps dept. DH was actually gone all day, but we had lunch with my family. K was overtired and overdue for a nap. But I could only manage a 19 min. nap (while she was attached to my boob). When I finally detached myself, she couldn't fall back asleep. I tried everything under the sun to get her to nap this afternoon without any success. 1 hour in the swing. 30 min. solo in the crib. Playing to wear her out. Side-lying nursing again. Nothing. She only got another 9 min. nap on the boob after passing out nursing. So our grand total today was 28 min. of naps. Poor girl, we had her 6 month pics today and she still couldn't fall asleep on the 40 min. drive to & from the location. We ended up putting her to sleep 1/2 hour earlier tonight because she just needs more sleep and I need some rest!

@Smurfette: Xander hasn't seemed more sleepy than normal, but his nap have lasted longer than normal!

Looks like everyone is doing bananas!!
@Mrs. High Heels: you got a big LO!! so cute holding banana
@Smurfette: I must be the most behind on solids, we have not started yet!! LO's appt is tomorrow and after that we are going to try banana sometime during the week .
@shopaholic: That must have been rough. Hope she slept better at night.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@mole: That is awesome that he puts himself back to sleep. Isaac needs to relearn this, but I think I'll wait until after his shots this week.
@shopaholic: That sounds like a rough day. I always feel so bad when they are just so tired and can't sleep. That is the start to our bedtime tonight. I hope that lasts nights sleep was good.
Isaac seems to only be getting 13 hours total sleep between naps and night. So not enough. I just don't know how to get him to sleep more. I try to let him not be awake for more than 2 hours, but sometimes he just won't go to sleep. I'm hoping the health nurse will have some ideas to help him out when we see them this week.
I'm wondering if DH and him fell asleep upstairs? I sent DH to rock him, 3rd time in an hour and a half that he has woken up, and now I hear nothing on the monitor.

@silver1: @ALV91711: Thanks! K woke up once around 4 am, and then again a little after 8 am. I was still SO groggy both times because I had taken 1 Benedryl for allergies. She fell back asleep both times and slept until 10:40 am this morning!!! Glorious!!! That kind of sleep and late wake-up hasn't happened in weeks and I needed it!
Took K to the Aquarium with my sister and BIL today! They'd been wanting to go with her for her first time in a while and we managed to all get season tickets for almost a regular admission. She was REALLY interested in the big aquarium walls, but missed a nap. Went down really fast and easy tonight.
I tried giving her more green beans 1 meal each day this weekend. She just doesn't seem to like it or seem that interested. Though she does seem interested when I'm eating food. I think I will try avocado tomorrow.
@ALV91711: @Mrs. High Heels: How come our LOs don't realize how wonderful sleep and naps can be?
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@shopaholic: I don't knowww!!! He had a total of 1.5 hours worth of naps ALL DAY... this is the worst its ever been. 1 hour in the morning, then 30 minutes in the late afternoon. And he was as happy as a clam too. He struggled to fall asleep tonight too, I really think sleep begets sleep so I'm sure his bad naps had to do with it.
He's been a crappy napper all week. I'm too lazy to look up whether or not this is some sort of developmental thing. Someone tell me it is and that it'll pass!

@shopaholic: We've been meaning to go to the Aquarium! Looks like K really enjoyed the water and sea creatures! I want to take J when he's a little bigger. We have a friend who works there so he gave us free tickets.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Aww... I hear ya. K had just two 20 min. naps (each in the car) today. She was sooo groggy and tired looking all afternoon, but she was smiling and laughing.
I bet J would love the aquarium!
* We just had the first wake up of the night, less than 3 hours after going down. She actually scooted or rolled from the bottom of the bed to the top corner and got stuck, kept trying to scoot more! I was able to rock her back to sleep within a few minutes w/out nursing! She can't seem to stop moving, even in her sleep!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: 13 hours is roughly how much sleep Xander gets between night-time and naps. He seems to be fine on that much though - he's very happy and playful and not too fussy, so I was assuming it was enough.
@shopaholic: We can take Benedryl for allergies while breastfeeding??? Why didn't someone tell me this???? Gahhh!!!
Such a cute pic of K at the aquarium!!! I should do something like that with Xander!

@travellingbee: I hope he feels better soon. And the image of shooting carrots makes me laugh.
@ALV91711: I hope the nurse has some ideas for you!!!
@shopaholic: 10:40??? What time does she go to bed?? We can't wait to take R to the aquarium (GA has a really good one) but I think we are going to wait till this winter so it is something to do to get out of the house.
Ladies, R bit me while nursing this weekend. Luckily it was only once and it wasn't that bad.
Sleep training was pretty bad Saturday night. Friday must have been a fluke since the shots made her so tired. Last night went much better, so hoping tonight is even better. Especially, since I am on my own all week. DH doesn't get home till late Friday night.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yikes!! I'm so afraid of being bitten while nursing!!! Glad to hear it only happened the one time and wasn't too bad!!! Hopefully she doesn't do it again!
Booo... sorry to hear Saturday night wasn't very good! But hopefully every night is better, especially now that your husband is back on travel!

@shopaholic: Oh my goodness! So cute. She looks like a big girl! I want to take L to the zoo.
@silver1: Yeah L loves bananas too.
@Smurfette: Oh man, Lukas is biting me regularly. I pull him off and yelp and tell him no. It hurts but not so much that I'd stop BFing or anything. I sure wish he'd stop though.
Yesterday, Lukas pulled up. Well, up onto his knees. Was trying to get all the way up but couldn't. He was sitting in a laundry basket. (Tee hee- he likes to play in them) and just turned and put both hands on the top and pulled up to his knees. I put him in it again just now and he did it again. Yikes!!! Might have to lower the crib!

@travellingbee: so exciting!! Sorry you are getting bit!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: I get bit too!! I say "OW" really loudly and he gets this confused look on his face like, "what'd I do mama?"... and I say, "no biting"... it rarely happens now, but I still get a surprise every now and again. Hope sleep training continues to improve for you!
@travellingbee: So exciting!!
Today, J had awesome naps. MIL told me he napped about 3.5 hours this morning, and took a pretty good afternoon nap too. Don't know what is going on with this guy. He must be growing and learning a lot or something. Hopefully our nap woes are over.

@Adira: Well.... I think it's not recommended. But nothing else really calms my allergies down, so I sometimes have to take a Benedryl in order to sleep and stop scratching my eyes and everything. Thanks. I think the babies would like it! We're going to the tiny, little city zoo this week with a mommy group too. I think the aquarium is more interesting though at this age, since it's all lit up with contrast colors and neon lights!
@Smurfette: I REALLY want to go to the new GA aquarium! My cousin's wedding was postponed till next year supposedly, and that will be my #1 attraction I want to go see! We start K's bedtime routine usually at 9pm and she's usually fed and asleep before 9:30.
Ouch! Hopefully R learns not to bite soon! That's one reason why I'm hoping K will be a late teether!
@travellingbee: Thank you! I'm sure L would love it! Pulling up already? Yikes, yup, better lower the mattress this weekend!
@Mrs. High Heels: 3.5 hours just in the morning?!?! Insane. He must be growing... even more!

We had K's 6 month appt. today (though it's closer to 6.5 months now).
LO's name: Kaitlyn
Age: ~ 6.5 months
Weight: 15.2 lbs (25th percentile)
Length: 26.5" (75th percentile)
Recent milestones: Sitting up assisted better and longer. Sort of on all fours , but then pops off to the side? She is scooting somehow all over the floor these days, in addition to rolling everywhere. She can scoot her body around in a circle to get toys she wants. Just started solids. She's been saying "Dada" for about a month now.
Next milestone you're most looking forward to: Saying "Mama". Sitting unassisted for longer periods and content to stay seated? I guess the proper answer would be "crawling", but I'm not quite ready for that!
How's feeding going: Short and sweet. She's usually done feeding ~4 min. (1 side only, each session). I try to feed her about every 2-3 hours.
How's sleep going: Besides the occasional wake-ups from rolling onto her tummy or getting stuck in the corner of the crib, OK. We've added 1 more wake-up/nursing session in the past couple of weeks (so that makes 2x's/night), but I think we're on the right track to eliminating the 1 extra wake-up. Generally sleeping from ~9:30-9:30, which is fine by us.
NAPS are a whole other story. Though, I have been successful at getting more naps in most weekdays. Goal of 2 hours total/day is achievable about 1/2 the time now. Now the ped wants us to get naps longer than 30 min.
What is your favorite trait about your LO? She is just such a sweet, bubbly, smiley, lovely girl! She has this infectious smile and laugh, and always wants to smile at strangers, prompting them to talk to her. She cracks herself up, even in her sleep! I honestly feel so lucky to be her mama.
What is something silly that your LO does? Lately, she is all about touching people's noses! It's hilarious. She also loves to stick her thumb or fingers in my mouth - cracks her up. She also does all the same things the other March babies are doing: popping off the boob to see/hear daddy, kicking and splashing up a storm in the bathtub, looking away as if shy. These kiddos, they're getting SO fun!

@Mrs. High Heels: Hope J has another day of great naps!
@shopaholic: If you come to Atl, we will have to meet you at the aquarium!
K is a little peanut like R, but she is longer! 4 mins is all she nurses??? That is crazy to me. R will stay on my boob forever if I would let her. I can't believe she is saying Dada already!!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
And he woke up like 4x last night... womp womp! Most times I didn't have to go to him and he'd fall back asleep after a few min of fussing, but it still woke me up as I sat there staring at the monitor wondering if I should or shouldn't go in. Then at 4:30 I ended up nursing him and it took him an hour to go back down. What is going on! This guy's sleep is all over the place lately.

@Mrs. High Heels: What is going on with our babies??
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
L woke up at 1045 and wouldn't go back for over an hour. Eventually my husband let him sleep in the swing and he slept the rest of the night. In the swing. Not my favorite solution but parents gotta sleep!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Smurfette: Would love that!
She actually WILL nap and stay on the boob forever if I let her and we're in a quiet room. That's how I get at least one nap a day usually. But if we're out somewhere, GF only wants to eat for 3-4 min. max.
@Mrs. High Heels: I noticed the one time K had a really long nap, she woke up like 4xs that night too!
@travellingbee: Man! Everyone's babies are having sleep issues! Must be a developmental thing? Hey - if the swing still works! Last time I put K in the swing I noticed how SLOW it goes on the max setting. It's so funny b/c we used to think it was too fast! I wonder when we'll need to put it away if she gets too heavy for it?
K woke up a few times last night. Kept rolling onto her tunny and getting upset about it.

Updated stats for Mr. L:
18lbs 4 oz.
28 inches long
43cm head
So still similar percentiles
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@travellingbee: I would've totally used the swing too IF J still fit in it! The boy is way too heavy for it... it started squeaking... so we sadly put it away. Glad you guys got some sleep!
@shopaholic: 4 min is incredible!
@Smurfette: I don't know!! GO TO SLEEP, babies! How's sleep training going?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: last night was good. She woke up at 330, cried some, but herself back to sleep. Then again at 530. Much better then last week. Fingers crossed it keeps up.

@travellingbee: big boy!! R feels like such a peanut compared to everyone else
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: that's great! Just knowing she can put herself back to sleep makes it all worth it.

I got bit again tonight, twice! And it hurt!! I said no, don't buy mommy! And she looked at me like what did I do.
@Mrs. High Heels: what else can I do? Figured you have been here before....
bananas / 9973 posts
4 min. To actually nurse but she has been attached to my boob for 22 min. now and asleep. Though I haven't been able to get her to let to without waking yet. This seems to be a pattern for her late afternoon nap now.
K got the Rotavirus fax yesterday again and I swear that one does not ever agree with her. She was fussy and clingy last night. Crying but trying to laugh at her dada at the same time. Naps have been awesome today, but her little head does seem warm and sweaty. And the blowout today! Omg! I might actually just throw away the bottoms for once.
Now if I could get her to nap not attached to me...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: R was so sleepy Friday and Saturday after her shots.
So weird you are still on naps! R has been in bed for 2 hours already!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: I know! You are lucky you can do that late bedtime!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: I just keep doing what you've been doing. They'll eventually get it! I just say, "ow!" Really loudly and purposely contort my face so it looks like I'm in a lot of pain. I also immediately delatch as soon as I feel them bite down. Once they're delatched I look at them and say, "no biting mommy" then let them relatch and if they remotely even try to bite I pull them away again. N got it right away! J used to laugh and smile as if it were a game, but I think he knows now cuz he started to get this concerned look on his face and hasn't bitten me in awhile.

L thinks its funny most of the time. He's been terrible lately. Yesterday and today he bit the crud out of me.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Geeze, I take one day off and I get so far behind!
@travellingbee: OMG, that's exciting that L is pulling up!!! Xander's not doing anything like that yet! I think he has weak noodle arms, haha.
@shopaholic: Wow, I'm impressed K is saying Dada! Xander's made consonant sounds, but he's not very consistent with them yet. Definitely no Dada out of him!
@Mrs. High Heels: Yikes! Sorry to hear J's sleep wasn't so great the other night!! Hopefully last night was better...?
@travellingbee: I'm starting to think maybe Xander's a little midget for a boy! Those are good stats for L!
@shopaholic: Every so often Xander refuses to nap and will only do it when on the boob. On Sunday, he was attached to me for almost TWO HOURS!!!! He would eat, fall asleep, wake up, eat some more, fall asleep, wake up, switch sides, eat, fall asleep!!! Thank goodness I had a book to read and my phone to play on!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: By the way, now that it's way too late and you probably don't even care anymore, I put Xander in the Ergo yesterday without the infant insert and it seemed to work perfectly. He's 16 lbs. But I know you were asking about it like a million years ago so... here's info that's not helpful anymore!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Thanks! I just told DH Sunday night we needed to try it again soon
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, definitely try it again! She should be big enough to not need the infant insert anymore. And Xander seemed to enjoy it (or at least not hate it) and I was just mowing the lawn with him!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I still can't believe you mowed the lawn while wearing him. He didn't seem bothered by the noise?
