@Smurfette: haha, no! He was just like "Whoa... what IS all this??" and just kept looking around! He seemed more confused/intrigued than bothered.

@Adira: That is good! Or bad, depends on how you look at it. Now your husband will expect you to do it all the time!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, yeah, probably! Though we USUALLY mow the lawn on the weekends so we can swap off on baby duty, so hopefully we get back to that soon! And I can't WAIT for it to just snow so I don't have to deal with the lawn anymore!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I leave the yard work to my husband. I have helped trim the huge hydrangea bushes, but that is all. Now I am totally using R as an excuse. Next spring/summer will be totally different.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: My husband did all the yard work himself one year and then the next he was all "Okay, your turn!" So now we split it, haha. I hate it, but it's the only exercise I get these days.

Sad news. L has the croup. We were in the emergency room for 6 hours last night and he had to have breathing treatment. So weird as he was fine and even had his 6 month appointment yesterday. We're all exhausted and functioning on 3 hrs sleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: Aww, poor L!! and Mom and Dad. He got that bad that fast??
I am leaving work soon to go get R. They called and she has been spitting up everything she eats today. So the doctor wants to see her. Not sure if it is the reflux or some bug. Her teacher said that she is just sitting and not playing, which makes me think it is a bug of some sort. Cause she never just sits......
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: OMG, so scary!!! I didn't realize something like that got bad so quickly! Poor L!!! And family!! Is everything under control now?
@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, poor R!!! I hope she feels better soon!!!

@travellingbee: poor baby!! hope he feels better soon and that you all get some sleep soon!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
Yeah it was weird. We put him down at 730 and he was fine. At 9pm he woke up coughing, wheezing and with a low grade fever. He'd had a mild cold for the past few days but the dr checked him out just earlier in the day and all was ok. It probably would have been okay if we didn't take into the emergency room. We could've just seen the doctor today would've been okay. However because he had the vaccinations earlier in the day we were worried the wheezing was a reaction to the vaccinations. We didn't want to take any chances with that.
@Smurfette: oh no!! Feel better R!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: I can't believe how it hit him. Poor guy. I hope that he is feeling better and you all get some sleep tonight.
R has another ear infection. The doctor thinks that was causing the increase in spit up and her not feeling good. We also are upping the dosage of Zantac for the reflux. She hardly napped today and wouldn't for me when we got home. So we had an early bedtime tonight. I just hope she sleeps good and wakes up feeling better.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Aww, poor R. Is she on any antibiotics for the ear infection? I hope she sleeps alright for you tonight!
@travellingbee: Soooooo hoping you have a better night tonight! 3 hours of sleep is just NOT ENOUGH!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yep! We picked it up on the way home. She said it can cause diarrhea so we have to give her something, forget what it is called right now, in one bottle a day to help it. I hope it works, she already poops enough!! She went 4 times today!!!
apricot / 338 posts
@travellingbee: Oh no poor L!! hope he is feeling better today and tonight's sleep goes better too.
@Smurfette: Oh so sorry poor R hope she sleeps it off and feels better soon.
@shopaholic: Wow can't believe K is already standing!! shez looking so cute! This past weekend we took LO to drive thru safari (part of six flags) but unfortunately the standalone safari is closed. I so much wanted J to see it You have to get theme park tickets to just see animals. At $60 pp x 4 ppl incl. my parents it was not worth it. Maybe we will take LO to zoo sometime.
We went to 6 mo appt this week and here are the stats
LO's name: J
Age: 6 months
Weight: 17.3 lbs (50th percentile)
Length: 27" (75th percentile)
Recent milestones: Rolling all the time, scooting backwards much more. He has been calling mama for a couple of weeks now and recently started saying "pupu". We just started solids today with puree bananas and J gobbled it all up!!
Next milestone you're most looking forward to: getting up to sit by himself, sitting unassisted for atleast a minute.
How's feeding going: He has been taking 4oz every 2-3 hours during the day. He takes about 10 minutes to finish bottle (if he is not distracted) and we are still using the newborn flow nipples.
How's sleep going: J just started sttn!!! Most days he sleeps from 9pm to 6:30am. Other times he wakes up once around 3am if he is hungry. Hopefully solids will help him stay fuller longer.
What is your favorite trait about your LO? He is such a happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time. He smiles at strangers but recently he has gotten stranger anxiety and starts to cry if they put their face too close in front of him.
What is something silly that your LO does? He and DH have these raspberry blowing contests. My DH takes a big breath and blows raspberries and then LO follows and tries to imitate right from taking a big breath. Its so funny to watch him do it and he cracks himself up laughing!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Is it amoxicillin? That's what Xander is on and our pedal said it could cause diarrhea too!
@silver1: I can't believe J is saying Mama!!! I'm so jealous!!!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@silver1: I love the raspberries. L is obsessed with blowing them too. Sometimes with his tongue and sometimes with his lips only. Sounds like J is doing great and growing well!!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: I know me too about the mama. I asked the dr. and she said it's more typically around 9 months. Some of y'all have advanced babies!!

Isaac had his 6 month shot today, so we have updated stats.
LO's name: Isaac
Age: 6 months
Weight: 18lbs 6oz
Length: 25.3 inches
Recent milestones:
Next milestone you're most looking forward to: Sitting for longer periods unassisted
How's feeding going: Great. He loves his solids. Still BF.
How's sleep going: Not so great. He goes to bed good at night and by 8pm now. But he still gets up 2+ times. Naps are good as long as he is held. Something that we are working on.
What is your favorite trait about your LO? His laughs and smiles
What is something silly that your LO does? I love his determination to pull all the toys off the play gym. Something he does multiple times a day.
I can't remember the exact percentiles, but they have gone down. Except his head, that is in a higher percentile. He is short and chubby.
His shot went good today, although I think it made him not feel great. He was really sleepy and cuddly all afternoon. I'm hoping that he sleeps good tonight. Night sleep has been very hit or miss. Some nights he only wakes up twice and other nights it will be 5 times.
@Adira: I can't believe you baby wore and mowed the lawn! You are crazy!
@travellingbee: I hope L is feeling better and that you are all getting some sleep. It is hard to function with little to no sleep.
@Smurfette: I hope R is feeling better and the medicine kicks in right away. Ear infections are no fun.
@silver1: I can't believe he is saying mama. That is awesome. We don't have any words yet.
It went from nice to fall in no time. We had to go buy a heater for upstairs today and last night it got kind of chilly in his room. Hopefully he'll sleep better tonight with it being a normal temperature up there.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@silver1: We still use the newborn flow nipples as well. So jealous of the Mama.....I can't wait for that.
@Adira: I don't remember the name. She was on amoxicillin for the 1st one, but for some reason I think this is something different. This is our 3rd one. I have a feeling tubes will be in our future.
@travellingbee: How is L doing?
@ALV91711: Ok, I think it is official now, R is the peanut of the March babies. I hope he slept good last night. They made R super sleepy for two days. Have you started nap training?
R slept great last night!! She went to bed early, like 640 and I heard her at 4 grut a couple times and she was back out. She was starting to stir, when I went in her room at 620. So almost 12 hours. She was in a much better mood this morning.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Ohhh, I didn't realize there were other options! One of my friends told me that amoxicillin was the only choice for our babies, but obviously she's not a doctor, so maybe that's all her doctor ever used. I hope poor R feels better soon!!!
So glad to hear her sleep was awesome last night!!! YAY!!! I wonder if you should try to always put her to bed that early? I wonder if I should put Xander to bed that early... lol
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Well it really was only 20 mins earlier then normal. Usually she naps on the way home from school, so she wakes up around 530, so 7 usually works. I just hope she sleeps 7-7 on the weekends!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, that's the same for us too, except Xander often falls asleep AT 5:30 and wakes up at 6:30 to eat, haha. So I probably can't move his bedtime even if I wanted to!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
Just wanted to say everyone's little ones are so cute and getting SO big! I still have a little 14-pounder, so I'm jealous of all the cute baby chub! We don't have the boys 6-month appt until Oct 3 (a week before they turn 7 months!), so I'll do a bigger update then.
We got over our virus turned infection only to get a tummy bug a few days later, but hopefully we're on the mend now. And, I reeeeaaally hope the second year of daycare will be better health wise!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Yay! Another peanut like R. I hope your house is on the mend!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Smurfette: I know! Lil' tiny babies! Elliot is about 2 pounds bigger, so it make him look huge and Finn look itty bitty. I think it's crazy that your doc wants you to move to 4 bottles a day! The baby dudes would starve to death on that. They don't eat very much at a time, so we need LOTS of bottles to get enough milk in one day. How many ounces is R eating at a time?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Well by 9 months she wants her down to 4 bottles.. We are down to 5 now, with no over night feedings. She drinks 5ozs bottles, but will drink 6 if we give her 6 but she wants to eat every 3 hours still, so just doing the 5 ozs.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: That is a good stretch of sleep. We didn't have a great sleep last night. The heater we bought didn't kick in overnight and Isaac kept getting cold and waking up. I even added an extra layer in the night. DH got out a different space heater to use for the weekend as he is away. I'm going to start nap training next week. I want to do it when we are just at home for a few days.
@Adira: What time does Xander usually go to bed? We have gotten isaac's bedtime moved back to 8, which we are really enjoying.
@Mrs. Blue: I hope everyone stays healthy for a while.
We got some info on baby groups that we are going to start trying next week. It is great as they are drop in and free. I think Isaac will really like being around other babies.
DH is away for the weekend and my BFF is coming to stay. I haven't seen her in 1.5 years. I'm so excited for some hotly time. She is also going to babysit so I can get my hair done!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: We try to have him in bed between 7:00 and 7:30. Although sometimes when he doesn't nap well or misses a nap, he goes to bed earlier. Last night he was in bed by 6:45.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: He won't? I think we could put Xander to bed anytime between 6:30 and 8:00 and he's be fine. Although sometimes we'll put him down early and he'll just play for a while before falling asleep! So it doesn't always work, but he doesn't complain, so we just leave him alone!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
I just called and R is doing much better today. Maybe spit up twice. Her teacher said She doesn't want anything to do with those green beans though. She wouldn't eat them Tuesday night when I first tried them. She would quiver when, like nasty Mom. Her teacher said two bites and she wouldn't open her mouth at all.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Glad to hear R is doing better!! And she must just hate green beans! I don't blame her!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Since our babies are now six months, I thought it might be good to revisit typical vs atypical development!
Xander's still behind when it comes to being on his front (and I haven't tested the protective reaching), but other than that, he seems to be right where he should be!
apricot / 338 posts
@travellingbee: I didn't know it was early to say mama but J has always been talkative He is behind though on motor skills. He just started rolling consistently and nowhere near standing even for short periods with assistance.
@Smurfette: Wow that is a great stretch of sleep!! Glad to hear R is feeling better. Did you mash or puree the green beans? and did you add any salt? I fed J some applesauce today he didn't like it as much as banana yesterday. But he did eat it. I want to try a veggie next.
@ALV91711: that sounds exciting going to group and your LO interacting with other babies!!
@Mrs. Blue: Glad to hear your guys are feeling better and hope everything is back to normal soon.
@Adira: I didn't play video yet but just looking at pic J is likely atypical for sitting.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@silver1: Oh, your post remind me. Xander's behind on standing too. And don't worry if your LO is behind on things! I think this is just the average. Plus if your baby is working more on language skills, it makes sense to be behind on physical ones!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I will watch it tomorrow!
@silver1: I didn't make them Gerber did!
R loved carrots tonight. Maybe she just likes orange veggies. I had peas so I wasn't going to try them but looks like I have too since she won't eat the green beans.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
Thanks everyone. L is still fairly miserable but the dr. cleared him to go back to day care. No fever. I have like no days because of maternity leave so it's stressful to have to be home. His little cough is so sad. He gets all upset and puts his head in his hands after a coughing fit.
bananas / 9973 posts
@travellingbee: Oh no! Poor L! That's crazy it got bad so fast when you were just at the Doctor's! Do you think he caught it maybe at the doc's office?
@Smurfette: Oh no! Poor R too!
@silver1: Yikes! That is pricey! We missed the local "zoo" meetup today. But it's only $2 admission. haha And K only "stands" with assistance. She's barely sitting w/out assistance (and not for very long). Jealous J is saying Mama already and likes solids!
@Mrs. Blue: Aww... you guys too?! It really must be season's-changing with everyone getting sick!
@ALV91711: Yay! I bet he will like the baby groups! And nice that you'll see your BFF and get your hair done!
@Adira: I will have to watch this tonight and try them tomorrow! Thanks for posting!
We've been having some sleep issues with wake-ups (or at least, I have to wake-up) because K keeps scooting and rolling all around her crib now! It's no longer just rolling into the side of the crib, but she kind of inches her way up the length of the crib until her head is hitting the top of the crib and her head is kind of bent/curled into her chin. So I have to go in and move her down and/or hold her back to sleep. I'm also thinking about getting real, padded bumpers, but scared of SIDS still...
The solids thing is really challenging. K isn't into it at all. She'd rather bang or chew on the spoon. It takes so much time and I often forget that I need to thaw, prep, and feed her. Just to have her ingest *maybe* 1/2 teaspoon. I don't know if I should just stop for awhile, or keep trying a tiny bit every day.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Always feel so sad for Owen! I think K is pretty up to par on all the tests. She just doesn't sit unassisted for that long (maybe almost a min.?) without toppling over. I also can't believe Marty can stay on his back so long! K is rolling and flipping before I can even put her down. Diaper changes are torture these days!
