@travellingbee: OMG! Time to baby proof!!! I'm both jealous of L and glad Xander's not there yet, haha!

@travellingbee: yikes! Mobile babies. Like @Adira: I'm kind of glad we aren't there yet.
Isaac seems to be focusing on sitting. His balance is pretty good. He can right himself most of the time when he starts to tip. If he is laying down i just ask him if he wants to sit and put out my hands. He will grab them and sit himself up. Maybe once he has mastered this he will work on moving.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@ALV91711: yeah I think this is generally the case, from what I've read. They usually master sitting before becoming mobile.
L's been so content to sit that I thought he might not try moving for a while. But then... He just started going forward. He's so proud of himself too! Lol

So Xander's FINALLY catching up with the other March babies! He's mastering rolling back to front!!! Although he still can't always roll front to back, haha. Yesterday and last night, every time we would put him down for a nap or to bed, he'd roll onto his stomach! Then he's struggle to roll back, haha. We'd go, flip him, he'd immediately roll back onto his stomach! He'd do this 2-3 times before finally falling asleep!

@travellingbee: That is funny he likes the jarred stuff better. Time to baby proof!!
@Adira: Go Xander!! Hahaha! Maybe he wants to be a tummy sleeper like R!!
R is still army crawling. I just want her to figure out regular crawling already. She was funny on Saturday and was crawling all around the coffee table to find us. I put her in her car seat yesterday at a friend's to feed her and she kept trying to sit up. Then was doing when she was just sitting with us on the couch.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, I don't know! He rolls over onto his stomach, but then he tries to roll back and can't and starts crying! So we have to go in, flip him, but then before I can even get back downstairs, he's on his stomach again! After doing that three times though, he stayed on his back and slept that way.
I still can't believe some of these babies are MOBILE! That's awesome that R is army crawling! Xander's no where near there yet. When on his belly, he just flails about, trying to move, and can't get anywhere! R is so impressive!
Also, please capture on video to share with the group.

@Adira: I kept forgetting. I got it on video the other night but she was having naked play to help with her rash. I will try tonight. Only I don't know how to load a video. I tried one time and it didn't work.
I feel so bad, she is so red cause she is pooping so much on this medicine. But now I don't want to let her have naked time cause she is pooping so much.

@Adira: not to invade you'lls group, but I read this thread from time to time since my guy is only a few days older than yours... he's doing the same thing where I put him down, he rolls over, and freak out cause he can't roll back. I lost count how many times I've had to rescue him over the past few nights. I hope he figures out how to roll back or sleep on his stomach soon! I am sooooo tired!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm not sure you can actually load a video on HB. The way I did it was load it to youtube and then posted the link here (doing it that way embeds it on the page), and then just later took it off youtube.
@sotofamilia: Girl, you should JOIN us! The Feb thread isn't nearly as active as this one, so there are lots of Feb Mamas here! And I'm glad to hear Xander's not the only goober who rolls onto his tummy in bed and gets stuck!!! And I thought they were supposed to figure out how to roll front to back first, so they wouldn't get into this mess! But nope!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Ok, I will try it that way. I have never loaded to you tube before!
@sotofamilia: More the merrier !!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: When you load it to youtube, just make it so it's not public and people can only view it with the link. It doesn't make it PRIVATE, but will make it less likely that random people will see it. Then you can post the link here and it will embed the video!

Ladies I'm losing it. We are still getting over this croup mess but he's feeling a lot better. His sleep however is not doing better. Suddenly, he refuses to sleep in his crib. I mean even if we put him down sleepy, he wakes up instantly the second his back hits the mattress. We let him cry (scream, really) for about 10 minutes last night, picked him up, and he stopped crying almost immediately. When I put them back down he screamed again. We let him cry about another 15 minutes, and he finally fell asleep after my husband turned him onto his stomach. A couple hours later he woke up coughing and then he started screaming again. Once again he wouldn't stay in his crib without screaming. we picked him up and held him and he stopped. Repeat.
We finally put him in the swing where he cried but eventually fell asleep. A couple hours later he woke up again and wouldn't be consoled again. We put him in the swing where he cried but did fall asleep. Only to wake coughing a couple hours later. Eventually I let him sleep with us because I was losing my mind. Idk what to do!!! Even at his worst, we could always at least let him fall asleep on us and then transfer him to the crib. Now even that won't work.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Yikes!!! So sorry to hear about your rough sleeping that's going on! I wish I had some advice, but I don't really know what to do... are you willing to do CIO or Ferber? It sounds like maybe he needs sleep training (again?) or just HOPE that this is a phase that passes... I don't know.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: I am sorry!!! R's sleep got so bad when she had a bad cough as well. Have you tried elevating the crib? That way he isn't laying flat, so it gives an incline, maybe that is why the swing helps. I know I sleep with more pillows so I have an incline when I have a cough. Laying flat makes it worse.
Once he falls asleep, are you holding him for another 20 mins to make sure he is in a deep sleep? That is what we used to have to do with R.
Hang in there Mom!! Hope you have lot of coffee today.
@Adira: Pretty good. Sunday I woke up super engorged and leaking, guessing cause I cut the noon session. So I went from 9-630 without nursing and she didn't empty me. This morning I was engorged but not leaking. Next weekend I will start just nursing AM and PM. I think that I am going to just do that for two or three weeks to let my supply level out before I cut the AM session.
I still pumped 8 oz this morning, so I am going to freeze the other 3, she is getting on 5z bottle at day care of BM. This way when I do stop fully, she can still get one bottle of BM a day for a little bit longer. I think I have at least a month right now. I have to say I am so excited to not have to pump at work after this week.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
I posted this on IG this weekend, Don't worry Mom, I got this!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: That's awesome that it's going well so far!! And so far no clogged ducts?? You must be soooooo excited not to have to deal with the pump and washing all the pump parts! I don't want to wean, but I'm going to be soooooo jealous when you're done pumping!!! And it's cool that you'll still be able to provide her with a bottle of BM a day for a little while!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: OMG, look at her go!!!! We actually had to feed Xander a bottle last week because they had started to warm it at daycare and Xander just reached up and grabbed it and held it! He still needed some support though, so he didn't have it as under control as R! She is so stinkin' cute!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I can't wait to be weaned off the AM bottle for sure. Then DH and I can switch off morning duty. Now that she is STTN, I have to get up at 630-700 every morning.
She is holding it really good. We will still help at the end, cause she doesn't hold it up high enough and starts getting air.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: WTF - I didn't get the e-mail notification that you replied to me!
OMG, it will be so nice when you and DH can share morning duty!!!! I HATE that I'm always the one getting up to do that 5/6 a.m. feed! Which means I have to go to bed early so I'm not totally dying! That's going to be off when you can share that duty!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Do you have gmail? Mine has been messed up today. Yes, I can't wait to not have to be the one always getting up. DH and I both love to sleep in, so we will both get one weekend morning.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I do have gmail - maybe that's the problem. I just got an e-mail about another reply that happened almost an hour ago! I guess it's just slow today.
I love sleeping in too! I get Sundays, but it's always me going to bed early, feeding and pumping around 5:30 and then going back to bed to sleep in until around 9:00. So it's not really as nice as I'd like! I want to be able to stay up past 10:00 and sleep past 6:00 with no interruptions!!!
ETA: And I JUST got the e-mail about both these past two replies from you!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I'm so glad Isaac doesn't roll in bed yet. That is a lot of work to have to keep rolling him over. Maybe he will just end up liking to sleep on his tummy.
@travellingbee: I'm sorry that your sleep is so bad. I hope he will go back to the crib soon.
@Smurfette: That will be so awesome to have one morning to sleep in. Glad the weening is going good. What a cutie holding her bottle.
Isaac napped for half an hour this afternoon in his crib! That was awesome. But he woke up quite mad, nursed and is now finishing his nap with me.
Nights have been sucking. He seems to be getting to bed a bit closer to 7:30, which is great. But he is waking up every 2.5 hours. And the last two mornings he has been up at 5:45. I'm working on weening him off the first feeding he wakes up for.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: glad he had a good nap! Hope the night weaning goes good.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
Oh yay! He went down with very little effort tonight at 740. We'll see how the rest of the night goes.... DH is sick now so I'm solo dealing with him tonight. ....and my throat's getting scratching.

@travellingbee: Sorry about the rough sleep. I guess the cough is the result of the croup? Anything you can give for cough? Hoping as he feels better his sleep will become better too.
Cute pic looks like he is going places
@Smurfette: Oh wow she is doing great holding bottle!! Great to hear the weaning is going well. I am down to pumping once at work and can't wait to be done with that session.
I hear you on the gerber food! lol Same here I was in fantasy land for a minute with the cooking. Maybe someday I'll make my own baby food.
@Adira: J does the same rolling onto his belly and flailing his arms. Then he can't figure out to roll back and starts crying. He doesn't roll at night though and Im hoping it stays that way.
Yup he is more focused on language skills so guess he is not as interested in moving or sitting up. I am not in hurry either as the house is totally not baby proof.
@ALV91711: Ouch thatz tough with night wakings hopefully weaning goes well and you can get more sleep.

Sorry I'm so behind on this thread. I posted a separate thread, but maybe you guys have some advice? I'm really losing it. K started crawling visibly today! Yay! But O.M.G. the kicking feet! I'm dying! Kicking me when I try to change her, kicking me while nursing, kicking me while trying to NoseFrida her. Oh yeah, btw, K got her first cold or something. SUPER congested, snot blocking her nostrils and I can see it, but she screams and kicks me so hard when I try to do anything to get it out. That's what we get for the first full-day with daddy - his virus. wth!
She wouldn't fall asleep for her nap - I gave up after an hour. Kept digging her feet into my stomach, rolling, twisting, arching. Last night she woke up at least 6 times. Rolling and trying to crawl in her sleep. I brought her into bed this morning, exhausted, and of course DH's alarm went BLARING and woke her up.
Are your LOs sooo active with their legs? How long does this kickboxing last?
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@shopaholic: yeah, he scratches me with his feet while eating. Digs them into my stomach when we're laying down feeding. but that's the only time. Sorry she is hurting you. They start to understand no around now so maybe start that?
We had a great night! 730-545 with one wake up. Well I guess he woke at 12 too , but soothed himself. Best we've had in ages.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: OMG, the KICKING!!!! Xander's like that too! Or he likes to lift his legs up and slam them down OVER AND OVER AND OVER again!!! It's soooooo hard to change his diaper because his legs are always moving!!! Sometimes I'll have to pin them down with one arm and try to just do everything I need to with my other hand! That being said, he started the crazy kicking a month or two ago and I think it's actually getting better - he seems to understand when I'm changing his diaper that he needs to cooperate!
Xander's usually okay during nursing unless something is bothering him, then the kicking and arching his back and flinging his body around will start! That's usually my cue that he's either done or needs to burp or needs to switch sides! But sometimes he'll be nursing happily and just kicking away for fun! I nurse cross-cradle, so I often just try to pin his legs against me so he can't kick me.
@travellingbee: That's awesome sleep!!! Go L!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So I'm soooo happy! Yesterday Xander apparently did REALLY well at daycare, despite it being a Monday! Not only did he have a great day, but they did what I asked and put him down for a nap at 4:00 and he was still sleeping when I arrived! I even had to wake him up at 5:30 so we could leave. Then I was able to nurse him AND feed him solids, which he actually seemed to swallow some of this time instead of letting it all just drip down his face! Success!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: First K is so cute scooting on IG!! I am glad to see that other parents move items to make them work at crawling more. I wish I had some advice on the kicking. I guess just give it time till she figures it out. R kicks all the during diaper changes, it is a workout these days.
I would try no like @travellingbee: suggested. I know R gets no now.
@travellingbee: WOO HOO!! I hope this means L is feeling better.
@Adira: Go Xander!! and day care! What solids did you do? Did you ever start sending to day care?
Ladies, DH owes me big time!! R woke up early this morning, she was fussy in her crib around 530 this morning, but laying down still, finally I went in there around 545, cause she kept grabbing the ledge the edge of the crib. I went to change her diaper and it exploded over night. The little beads weren't everywhere but close to it. She pooped overnight and it must have been in the beginning, cause it was hard to wipe off. She was not happy and was kicking so bad, she kicked the diaper off the dresser. Little urine beads everywhere. I get her dressed so I put her on the floor while I am using wipes trying to clean up the mess. She is crying and kept crawling over to me, so I would have to move her back. Then she crawled back.
Nasty! I feel so bad this medicine is making her poop all the time, so she is so red down there. Just cries when you wipe her. I can't let her have naked time cause I am afraid she is going to poop. Any advice??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Also we are using infant tub, minus the sling, in the regular tub. R grabbed a hold of the ledge and started to pull up, and I said no, we don't stand up in the tub. She did it again and I said no, and then she didn't try it again. Then before bed she pulled herself up to standing, on her knees, by grabbing on my pant legs.
We are lowering her crib Friday when DH is home!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: So far we've still just done cereal and banana, but I made the cereal thicker last night and he didn't seem to mind, so I might try a puree next!!! And nope - still not sending anything to daycare yet. I figure he doesn't really need it and if they can put him down for naps so he can have dinner with us, I'd rather do solids at home for now.
Oh yikes!!! Sorry to hear about the mess R left you this morning!!! Xander's been leaving those for me too, but luckily he's not mobile so when I put him down to clean up, he stays where I put him! But the dried poo is the WORST to clean up! Yuck!!!
As far the diaper, the only advice I have is just make sure that the area is dry and then apply lots of diaper rash cream (we use Desitin at the moment) before putting her diaper back on. I keep a cloth on the changing table so that after I'm done wiping Xander down, I pat him dry with the cloth and THEN I usually blow on his butt to make sure it's REALLY dry before applying the cream. I definitely think that helps! Though it may not fully clear up until she's off the meds, unfortunately.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah I keep a burb cloth on the dresser to pat her dry. Although I don't think day care does that. I will bring one tomorrow. I am putting the cream on super thick. Day care changes if they know she poops, otherwise it is every 2 hours. Maybe I should call and see if they can do every hour.......
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, my daycare is the same way. I also don't know that my daycare is good about drying him after he gets changed, but despite going to daycare, his diaper rashes have cleared up, so something's working for us! What kind of wipes does she use? I actually send the sensitive ones to daycare and use the natural ones at home - I have no idea if there's a big difference or if it matters, but that seems to be working for Xander (at the moment).
How much longer does she have to be on the antibiotics? Hopefully once you stop and she stops having such bad diarrhea, things will clear up!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She gets it through Sat morning. I just called day care and asked to change her every hour the rest of the week. Hopefully it will help.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Well, hopefully changing her more often will help!!!! Poor R.
