Thanks for rain dances and crossed fingers, ladies! I knew I could count on you to appreciate my (cautious) excitement!
He's still asleep and I'm going to be in bed in a few minutes as well. I wish everyone a great night of sleep and happy and rested LOs in the morning!!

@Smurfette: fingers crossed for you that it's a good night!
We took some pics today. Here's a cute one:

@travellingbee: Omg beyond cute! You must be obsessed watching him!! Those little toes! His skin looks so soft and perfect in that photo too. Ahhh I love babies! I can't wait for Pete to learn about his toes. He's currently very into his hands and I think his toes will blow his mind!
On this topic, I think he may have discovered his penis in the bath. He uses his right hand to bat at it and then smiles and laughs! (and one day he will be mortified that I posted that online!)

@travellingbee: how adorable!!
Urg!!! She's currently up and crying. Three hours on the dot.

@travellingbee: Aww so cute! Love the toes!
@QueensBee: Hope you have a great night of sleep! That is so funny about the bathtime discovery!
@Smurfette: Oh no - I hope your night gets better!
It is so hot here tonight! We actually ran out to Costco to try and buy an AC unit tonight but there and everywhere else was sold out (we called everywhere we could think of within a 20 min drive). It probably isn't really that hot compared to most places but here in the NW I prefer more moderate temperatures. We had to install our old window unit using cardboard and tape just so that we could get the bedroom down below 90 for Liam to sleep tonight - gross!

@travellingbee: such a cute picture with the toes. I can't wait for isaac to find his. Right now he holds a toy in one hand and his shirt in he other.
@dojo: It is crazy hot were we are. The IL's have ac but today it is just too hot for that to make a difference. I put Isaac down in just a diaper and he is just right. I'll put clothes on him in the night when he wakes up. Hopefully you will be able to find an ac unit soon.
@Smurfette: Hopefully your night gets better.
Isaac nursed at 7:30 and was in bed asleep at 9:30. I jus came to bed and it is almost 10:30. I don't know if I should fall asleep and hope he sleeps a while or just stay awake until he wakes up. Whatever I do he will do the opposite I just know.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: R always has her bib in her hand.
@dojo: Sorry y'all are so hot. I definitely couldn't live without put AC.
Well she cried for over an hour, with no slowing down in sight. We went and got her and within 10 mins she was asleep. Then she woke up 45 mins later. I picked her up and she started screaming more. DH came in and tried, I went back to bed, but then it was some of the loudest cried I have ever heard from her. We changed her diaper, gave her gribe water, I finally went ahead and nursed her. She ate but I am not sure that was it. I don't know what is wrong. She just fell asleep, waiting till she is a little deeper before putting her down. She keeps thrashing around.
I am in tears. This is so hard. I am an accountant, so this week is going to so busy with closing June books, and it is a qtr close, so more deadlines.

Ugh, Xander woke up PISSED this morning. Usually he's just a little annoyed when I change his diaper before I feed him and sometimes he's even all smiles. But not today!! He was screaming his head off like he was in some sort of competition with himself ro see how loud he could get!! Finally being able to shove a boob in his mouth and shut him up was heaven to my ear drums.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: I LOVE that picture!! He's so precious!!
@QueensBee: haha, too funny! Xander hasn't discovered his yet, as far as I know.
@Smurfette: I'm so sorry you all are going through this!! It's like she's back to newborn sleepng! Which was exhausting on it's own, but at least we didn't have to go to work on no sleep! She's not waking up in some uncomfortable position is she? I wish I had some advice... or could trade babies for one night so you could sleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Seriously. She was down at 3. Then I had to wake her up at 630 to eat before DC. I got up at 6 and rushed getting ready, so I could sleep a little longer.
@Adira: She doesn't seem uncomfortable. She is just laying on her back. She isn't waking up screaming or anything. She starts that after we don't go get her when she is up and talking for a bit.
Calling the doctor to see if they have any advice.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Poor R (and poor you!) for having to deal with all this sleep issues! Hopefully the doctor will have some advice for you. It really sounds like the 4-month sleep regression though... ugh

@QueensBee: wow, going down in less than 10 min is AMAZING. hope you had a good night's rest!! hahaa and uh-oh about his new discovery.. the penis love has begun! i guess it was only a matter of time... ::shaking head::
@travellingbee: HE IS SOO CUTE!!! J still hasn't found his feet yet, but I love it when babies start playing with their feet and eating them, haha
@Smurfette: oh no - i really do hope things get better for you soon. J went down at 8 pm tonight, woke up crying a little after 9.. then woke up again at 1:30 am, where i proceeded to feed him because i had to go into work at 3 AM today. i'm still here at work, obviously keeping myself VERY VERY busy - my shift ends at 10 am, and i am going to be a zombie for the rest of monday.
---------
part of me is so ready to sleep train, but part of me doesn't have the heart to do it. he's my 2nd, he's my baby, and possibly my last. i don't know how i managed to do it so early on the first time around and stick with it, but it was so successful and great for us in the long run. this time i'm waiting until the 5.5 month ideal sleep training window - i hope i can last 6 more weeks of unpredictable sleep!
pear / 1718 posts
@smurfette: Oh no, I am so disappointed and frustrated for you that it was such a rough night. I was in tears last Thursday and that was without the stress of a full work week to deal with. I wish I had advice to give you. I hope the pedi has a helpful suggestion or training method. How is her cough? I guess, just try to remind yourself that this won't last forever and she will one day sleep on her own. But, in the meantime it really sucks. Hugs to you. Can you at least splurge on a grande coffee at your favorite place today?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: I don't like coffee. So Diet Coke it is! I should have stopped at Chick-fil-a this morning and got a large. I just grabbed a can from the fridge. Her cough seems a little better last night, but this morning when I got her up and dressed and we were walking into the living room, she was coughing quite a bit. I just called the doctor and they want to see her at 230 today. Her doctor is on vacation so we are seeing another one. Of course watch she won't cough when we are at the doctor.
@Mrs. High Heels: You had to be at work at 3am? That is crazy!! Sorry you had a super early morning too!

And we are up to 16lbs! This boy is giving momma a back ache!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
Thanks everyone! He's our little cutie!
@QueensBee: Yes I am a bit obsessed. He just melts my heart! I wish he'd stop growing up for a bit as I can hardly take it all in fast enough! I feel very lucky that our timing gave me an extra long maternity leave so I get to cuddle him extra. Hopefully we can time the next one as well!
@Smurfette: I'm so sorry about your sleep! Was she sleeping well and then stopped? That's terrifying! When did you go back to work? I heard that can cause a regression too as they crave mommy time so they get it at night.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: Yep! She was sleeping around 9-6, then started getting up once a night and now it is every 3 hours, or less. I have been back at work for a month now
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Smurfette: oh no! Well I guess I better enjoy sleeping while it lasts....
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: officially doubled his birth weight! He doesn't look esp. chubs though as he's very long. Tall like his daddy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Very nice! And he's only 4 months or so, right?? Xander has his 4-month appointment on Friday, so I'll find out how much he weighs. I'm pretty sure he won't have doubled his birth weight though. I'm guessing he's around 14 lbs.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
3 1/2 (15 weeks) He has slowed down a lot now but was gaining about a pound a week from weeks 5-11. He was 8lbs at birth but lost quite a bit. Wasn't up to birth weight until after 2 weeks, because of latch issues. When he figured it out though... Whoa!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Wow, that's really awesome! I feel like Xander eats a lot (~30oz a day), but he's not packing on the pounds like that! Although he's only been weighed recently on my scale at home with me holding him, so I know that's not super accurate.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
So 20 mins after I dropped R off at DC this morning she slept for 40 mins. Woke up for 30 mins, ate a bottle. Then slept for 3 hours, which they woke her up to eat. Then she slept 25 mins home. Pit stop to get the diaper bag and feeding her a little so j don't have to do at the doctors.
pear / 1718 posts
@smurfette: I really hope the appointment is helpful! Update us on doc's suggestions when you can!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Sounds like she's sleeping a lot today! Not sure if that's good or bad. If she's sick, it's good she's getting the rest! But if she's not, she might be getting her days and nights reversed, which will mean even more time awake at night for you... yikes!
Good luck at your appointment! Let us know what they say!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Well they said that she just has a cold and we have to hang in there and let it takes its course. Even though she doesn't have a fever, she said go ahead and give her some Tylenol tonight and see if that will help her sleep.
My bigger concern is she weighs 12.7 lbs. So in almost two months she has only gained 1.3lbs. She that wait till next Thursday for her 4 month appointment and see if she gains any back if she is feeling better.
So I guess R is a little peanut!!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Awww, poor R!! Hopefully the tylenol will help tonight and you'll FINALLY get some sleep!
I don't think Xander has gained a lot either (my guess is only 2 lbs in two months), but I'll find out on Friday. Hopefully R will start feeling better AND start gaining some more weight!

@Smurfette: @ALV91711: Okay, I think it was you two that ask about what we did for sleep training on the other thread. I kept meaning to reply when I got to an actual computer. Obviously, I am late in responding. We did cry it out with checks at 10 min. and 15 min. We initially did 5 min. checks, but that check just made them mad and got them more worked up. We had two horrrrrrrrrible nights. Each boy had one night that they woke up all the time and cried a lot. I was seriously doubting whether I was doing the right thing. Then, the third night, they slept from 8 p.m. until 4:45 a.m., when their longest stretch ever had been 6 hours. The next night, it was 5:15 a.m. They usually wake up now around 5:30, but I'm okay with that because I still want them to get as many "daytime" feedings as they can since they dropped all their night feedings. I was initially planning on letting them keep one night feeding, I just wanted to drop the ones I didn't think they needed. Clearly, they had other plans. We nap trained at the same time. Their night and nap training (minus when they're at daycare and they just don't put them down for a nap--grrrr!!!) is so, so, so much better. I am so thankful for their sake and for ours that we sleep trained early.
We're doing pretty good, although I strongly dislike our daycare. Our #1 daycare choice called last week and said the boys can start in mid-August. Our moms are going to take turns watching them in the first half of August, so we only have to leave them in the current place for July. I'm so excited to make the switch. I can't believe they will be 4 months old in less than two weeks. Sloooow down first year!

My delayed update.
LOs' names: Elliot & Finn. AKA, Captain Elliot and Super Finn, AKA Big E Smalls & Big Finn James, AKA Elliopsicle & Finny Pie, AKA...can you tell we're big on nicknames?
Age: They'll be 4 months on the 11th.
Weight: Last week, the scales at the medical supply store said E was 13 lbs. and F was 11 lbs. 7 ounces. They've consistently stayed 1 1/2 pounds apart from the time they left the NICU until now. Kinda crazy.
Length: No clue!
Recent milestones: They are grabbing things more successfully, but not all the time. They have sort of "found" their hands, although they still can't manage to suck on a thumb, etc. They watch objects and people much more and are starting to be more interested in toys although they don't grab for them much. They can sit in the Bumbo now that their head control is pretty good. They've also discovered the whole thing where they arch their backs to wiggle off your lap of move around on the playmat.
Milestone you're most looking forward to: I cannot wait until they start laughing. It's killing me to wait.
How's feeding going: They are eating 3-5 1/2 ounces depening on whose feeding them. At daycare, it's about 2 1.2-3 ounces because they don't work very hard to make sure they eat. At home, they almost always eat 4 ounces minimum. I'm not sure when we will start introducing solids, but for some reason, I'm REALLY excited about it. I think we might to baby-led weaning, or at least a modified version of it, but I'm not positive. What are all of you planning on doing to introduce solids and when do you think you will start? I'm going to get our peds recommendation on when to start since they were preemies, and I'll probably go with whatever he says on timing.
How's sleep going: Post-sleep training, it's awesome! They go to sleep between 7:30-8:30 depending on how they napped at daycare and they sleep until 5:15-5:45. It's aaaamazing after so little sleep for the first 14 weeks! We nap trained as well and they usually sleep for 1 1/2-2 hours after their morning bottle, around noon, and once later in the day. At daycare, that's another story, where in they often only sleep 45 minutes in 10 hours. Sigh.
What is your favorite trait about your LO?
Elliot: He is so sweet and smiley these days! He loves music and will just smile and smile and smile when he hears a toy playing music, you sing, etc. He just seems like such a gentle, happy boy.
Finn: He is my wiggler and always has a glint in his eye like he would be causing so much mischief if he could just figure out how to walk and talk! He's quick to smile and it lights up his whole little face!
What is something silly that your LO does?
They both smile at us when their bottles are in their mouths. It's so cute. They also still insist on eating on the other one when they are hungry. Sometimes in the morning, we'll notice one's swaddle is soaked on the arm from the other one munching on it!
WOHM, WAHM, SAHM or on mat leave? WOHM full time. Still adjusting, but it's going okay as long as I stay busy.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: At 1 month, she was in 75%, 2 months 50%, and now 25%
@Mrs. Blue: how long did they cry?? I know we have to do it once she starts feeling better. I am sorry you aren't happy with your day care. Have you asked them to put them down for naps at a set time? At least you got into another one. You can do a month. It will fly by. Love all their nicknames! That picture with the ties is adorable!!!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Smurfette: It seemed like hours, but I think the longest was around 50 minutes. We would go in at 10, then every 15 minutes after that. I tried to just pat them and reassure them, but if they were really worked up, sometimes I would pick them up and cuddle them and get them calmed down and then lay them back down while they were still awake. Honestly, I think they would have cried less if we hadn't done any checks, but I just didn't have the heart and I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong (i.e. spit up, diaper, etc.). I would definitely wait until you know she's feeling good because it's hard enough when you know they are alright and they're really just crying because they are frustrated that they can't go to sleep; you don't want to have to wonder if it's because R doesn't feel well. Hopefully, the Tylenol tonight will help. Poor girl. Also, I noticed in the earlier comments that R isn't rolling over...mine don't even seem to be interested in rolling. Maybe it's something about babies born on the 11th.
As for daycare, we have told them multiples times to lay them down an hour and a half after they eat. We've written it down. We've told each of the teachers. They just have all the babies laying on the floor on boppys and whenever they fall asleep they fall asleep. So frustrating after we worked sooo hard to make sure they were sleep-trained and sleeping in a crib so they would be able to sleep at daycare okay.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Aww, R won't stop crying since she woke up from her nap. She has a slight fever now. Poor thing.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Xander's been steadily dropping too. When he was born, he was in the 75%, 2 weeks 55%, 2 months 39%, and I can only assume even less now. I think he's maybe gained 2lbs, so I guess we'll see on Friday where he is. Is your pediatrician concerned at all?
@Mrs. Blue: Gahh!! I love them!!! Soo adorable!!!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Mrs. Blue: gah, your boys KILL ME. i just die every time i see their pictures - they are so handsome!! how cute that they smile with bottles in their mouth... haha, a lot of times when i'm nursing J... he'll stop and give me the biggest, goofiest grin with milk dripping out and i think it's the cutest thing too. i'm already getting sad thinking about how fast our babies are growing, though i'm still happy about not being in the newborn stage anymore! that's great that they're doing so well in the sleep department. sorry your current daycare isn't working out for you! i'm not in love with our daycare either, and have cried and fought my husband on the issue but he won't budge because it is the most affordable one by far in our area. it isn't terrible and i've slowly started to accept that it is what it is... it's just that i don't completely trust them and there is often a big gap in communication, which really frustrates me. DD is happy there though, so i guess that makes me feel better.
@Smurfette: Poor R I hope she feels better soon! N had a 101.7 fever yesterday too, but she acted completely ok.. as if she wasn't sick at all! So weird.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: that makes me feel better. The doctor said to wait till next week and talk to her regular doc about it. When hopefully she is feeling better and back to eating more.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: I read that breastfed babies gain rapidly the first few months, and then they even out more. "Healthy breastfed infants tend to grow more rapidly than their formula-fed peers in the first 2-3 months of life and less rapidly from 3 to 12 months." (kellymom) - http://kellymom.com/health/growth/growthcharts/
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Thanks! That makes me feel better. I know I have enough milk since I pump enough for her bottles. And lord knows she has enough dirty diapers.
