March Mamas & Babies: 1/3 Done!

@Adira: Where is it big? In the crotch? R's 9m or 6-12 are all like that, but once you put pants on it doesn't matter. The 6 month stuff is just getting tight on her. And I bought winter stuff in all 9 or 6-12, so she is wearing it whether it is big or not!

I don't know that she will walk anytime soon. I can see her just doing this for awhile.

So R woke up at 445 coughing, but went back asleep by 515/520. Then I was about to go wake her up at 615 when she woke up. She MUCH happier when she woke up. Standing up in the crib, and smiling. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go back to sleep, so I have been up since 445. But I am so glad she seems back on track.

@Smurfette: Well, I didn't actually try it on him, but I think it's going to be big all over (like baggy around his chest and waist, arms) and too long in the arms and crotch. Though I guess I'll have to try it on him to really know - just comparing it to his other outfits, it's a lot longer and wider, so I think it'll just be swimming on him!

That's a bummer R woke you up at 4:45, but awesome she went back to sleep and woke up at a more reasonable time!!! Yay!!! Hopefully this means she's adjusted to the time change and will continue to sleep until 6:00+!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I would wash and dry it like normal and then try it on him. Once you get pants on I bet it won't look too big. Is he about to outgrown 9 months in length?

  4. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, okay, I'll try doing that tonight and hopefully it looks better on him! Maybe I can tuck all the baggy parts into his pants, haha. Plus the sweater I have is 9 months, so that will fit him correctly and potentially hide all the bagginess of the onesie! And yes - he fits in his 9 month sleepers perfectly at the moment (or they seem a little shorter), so he's definitely close to being too long for them!

  5. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I think onesie look huge on R but once I get the pants it looks ok. I know we say it here all the time, but these babies are growing too fast!

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I know!!! Why are they growing so fast??? Booo!!! But thanks for that! I'll have to wash it tonight and try it on Xander - maybe it won't look as bad as I'm envisioning!

@Adira: It is better that they are a bit big than a bit small. I'm sure once you put him into them they will be fine. He is a tall baby. Isaac is outgrowing 9 month clothes. I haven't tried on much of the 12 month size though to see.

@shopaholic: I hope the four days go by fast for you. Keep yourself busy. At least you are used to being on your own for the day, so it is just the nights that will be different.

@Smurfette: Way to go R! I wonder how much longer until she is walking? I'm glad that she is getting back on track with sleep. Hopefully she keeps it up.

I'm happy that Isaac is sticking with the one wake up around 4. I feel much better getting one long stretch of sleep. I was thinking about it and this one long stretch is about the total hours I was getting before just all broken up.

When I was packing yesterday I came across my baby book. I was crawling at 7 months 1 week and walking at 11 months. I think Isaac will be a bit behind me in the walking since at almost 8 months he isn't crawling.

  8. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: OMG, that's so cool that you have your baby book!!! I don't think my mom did one for me because I was baby #2 and I was born only 16 months after my brother, so I think she had her hands full! That's so cool that you can look at that and compare you and Isaac! Now I feel bad for being so slack on Xander's baby book... haha

    And yay for sleep!!!

  9. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: I was thinking maybe by Christmas, but now I am not sure. She only seems interested if we help her. She isn't comfortable cruising more then two steps at a time.
That is so cool you have your baby book. I need to ask my Mom when I walked. So glad that I is sleeping better for you!!

  10. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: @Smurfette: I'm glad to have the book but there is a lot not filled in. Which kind of makes me feel better for slacking on Isaac's baby book. I pretty much have his birth info in it and that is all. I'm also pretty sure that I'm the only one of the 3 of us that has a baby book because I was the first. I will have to ask my sisters.

  11. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: At least you have a baby book for I! I never started one for R.

  12. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Smurfette: Wow, seems like R is becoming a more confident walker each day!! 4:45am is rough though. Do you have your diet coke saved for the afternoon or was that a morning drink today? I would probably need two with that kind of daily wakeup!

@shopaholic: Yes, they do keep us on our toes these days! Pete is just starting to grab at our camera too and I have no idea where to remount it. We are in a rental, hoping to move soon, so I hate to install a shelf on the wall for a few months. What are you guys doing with it?

@ALV91711: So neat that you discovered your baby book! My mom brought mine over a few months ago. The most interesting part for me was reading about the "Tips" they offer for new moms in the book. Tips like, only feed the newborn baby every 4-5 hours. Or, your 4 month old should be drinking water regularly.

    So much has changed!

@Adira: Good luck with the outfit! Let us know how it looks after a run through the washer/dryer!

Pete's sleep is on a downward spiral this week. He's started waking up around 3-4am. Once he's awake, it's really hard to get him back to sleep, often taking an hour or more! Ugh! He's been napping a lot during the day because he's so tired. Today is his first day back at daycare in almost a week, maybe they can help him get back on schedule.

He's finally started making some more sounds, although i'm not sure if I'd label it "babbling" yet. It's more like a series of grunts, groans, and "aaahhhs." But, they are in response to us talking to him so I think he is trying to participate in conversation. He really loves singing and will make all his little noises when I'm singing to him. Melts my heart.

In a followup to my previous post on the two houses that we were torn between, we ended up bidding on the more expensive house this weekend. The broker said we should hear back from the sellers today so I keep checking my phone every 3 minutes! Eep! I won't be devastated if they don't accept our low-ball offer but I am on the edge of my seat in case they do accept and we actually have to move!

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: I drink green tea in the morning and Diet Coke for lunch. I went to the cafe downstairs and got a salad today and a big old DC.
Fingers crossed on the house!! Keep up posted.

  14. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Eeeeh!!! Good luck on the house!!! I hope you hear back soon!!

  15. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@QueensBee: I hope that he gets back on schedule as that is just too early. Good luck with the house. I hope that you heard back.

When I was getting Isaac ready for bed tonight I put him on his stomach on the change table and he put himself in the crawling position!! He hasn't done that before!

So we've had about 5 nights now of good night sleep. He has only been waking up once around 4pm. Last night he went to bed at 6:30 and got up at 7am plus the once time. I really like this except his daytime sleep has gotten horrible. Today was the first day in almost a week that he has taken a morning nap. But his two naps only totaled about 1.5 hours. The other days he's been having a 1.5 hour afternoon nap. He barely makes it to bath time and the last couple nights we've just gotten him to bed earlier. So while I can't complain about the night sleep, why isn't he napping?

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: So exciting!!! He will be on the move before you know it. Not sure on the sleep. Babies are weird. I would just kept trying to get him to nap. And then just be happy he is sleeping good at night when he doesn't. At least then you are getting sleep.

@Adira: Did you remember to dress Xander for picture day?

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Picture day is tomorrow! But I did make sure to wash and dry his new shirt! It still looks big though... I think I'm going to try it on him tonight in case I decide to do something else for tomorrow!

@ALV91711: YAY crawling position!!!! Xander almost can do that, but whenever he gets up, he immediately goes onto his toes and rolls over! Silly baby! And I have no advice about the naps - babies are weird! But yay for nighttime sleep!

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Oh I thought you said it was Thursday. Or maybe it was remind you on Thursday. Either way, I was getting R dressed this morning and thought I hope Adira remembers to dress Xander.
Of course for the 2nd morning in a row, I go into the kitchen and realize I left my lunch bag sitting on the counter all night after packing it. But I remembered about Xander!

R woke up at 540 this morning, whinned for about 10 mins and went back to sleep. I had to wake her up. I think we are getting back on track! Now if we could just get her to nap better at day care. So does so good, usually, on the weekends.

Also, her teacher told me when I picked her up last night they call her the Class President cause of her name. That when they are trying to get her to nap, they say is the President asleep yet, so she doesn't hear her name and then look around. too funny!

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: It IS on Thursday, girlfriend. It's only Wednesday today!

And that is HYSTERICAL that you're forgetting stuff in your own life but remembering stuff about Xander! I LOVE it!! We should be BFFs in real life and remind each other of stuff going on in each other's lives!

WOOHOO for R's sleep!!!! She's almost fully transitioned to the new time!!! That must feel good to not be woken up super early by her anymore! And I love the President nickname! I'm totally going to start thinking of her like that now!

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: OMG, seriously? I totally thought it was Thursday. Bummer that means, DH isn't coming home tonight.
I am losing it. I did think this morning, I should text Adira to remind her and then I was like nope, don't have her number. I am nuts.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, I felt bad bursting your bubble because you were thinking the weekend was THIS close to being here and I had to point out you still had another day you weren't planning on! Damn slow weeks!!!

That's too funny!!! There was something a couple weeks ago and I was like "I should call Smurfette and tell her _____" and then had to remind myself I couldn't, haha.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Oh my gosh, ladies, Xander was soooooo hyper last night! I was going to nurse him and as soon as I put him on my boob, he bit me!!! So I plopped him down on the floor and he just rolled around and around in circles - rolling and waving his arms around and panting like a dog! It was HYSTERICAL! And then finally he seemed to get tired - he stopped rolling and started rubbing his eyes, so I picked him up and he nursed great and then went to bed! Crazy baby!

@Smurfette: I thought of you last night! Hubs didn't get home until after 7:00 so I had to feed Xander dinner, give him his bath, and put him to bed all by myself! I was thinking "Smurfette does this ALL THE TIME!" I wasn't a fan of doing it by myself - you're such a champ!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: LOL! Sounds hilarious! Thanks, I guess I am not just use to it. But I will admit I love it Fri-Sun night when DH is home to do bath time.

  24. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I definitely prefer the days when Hubs does bath time! It's so much easier!! With me doing it, I was like "Ugh, I need to make sure I have everything out and ready beforehand!" Usually Hubs starts the bath while I'm gathering his diaper and sleeper and setting out the towels!

I've been home sick for the past couple of days. I caught a cold from L over the weekend and then yesterday I got a stomach virus on top of it!! Sucked!! The worst was having a fever. I can't stand having a fever. Anyway, I think I will just stay home this morning to recover and go in half day. I have almost no sick days so this really has been inconvenient. But my principal is a mom so she understands. We've all been sick since he started day care.
@Adira: L is in between 9 and 12 months clothes. In Carters, 12 months fits him but in lots of others they are too big. Also his 12 months onesies and tops fit fine but the pants are often too long. The pants that fit him the best are the ones that are 6-12 months. And so funny about hyper X. We've had that happen before and my DH always says, "Let him roll it out." and puts him on the floor to roll around and get his energy out.
@ALV91711: Sorry he isn't napping but I sure am jealous of that night time sleep. L is back to waking up every 2-3 hours. SO. FRUSTRATING.

L is pulling up on everything. Scares the crud out of me. So far he hasn't fallen and bonked his head, (at home anyway) but I know it is coming. And although he had one day where he crawled on hands and knees, he has gone back to super-fast commando crawling. I think he likes it better, because he can move faster. I guess that is his crawl!

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@travellingbee: So sorry you're sick!!! I totally know how that feels! I feel like I was sick pretty much for four months straight when Xander started daycare and just now have finally been well for OVER a week! It's crazy how many germs these babies bring home!!

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@travellingbee: I am sorry you are so sick!! Are you going to be better for your trip this weekend?

It scares me with R pulling up as well. She was trying to pull up on the dishwasher the other day, and there isn't anything she can grab onto. Luckily she gave up on it before she fell and hit the tile. Not looking forward to when that happens.
    Love the commando crawling!

    Hi everyone!!
Thanks for the kind words and excitement over the possible house. The sellers countered our offer but they only dropped the price 10k. That leaves about 50k price difference between our offer and their price. We may be willing to go up 5k more but I have a feeling they will turn us down. But, if it doesn't sell in the next few weeks, there's always a chance they'll come back to us more willing to negotiate. We shall see...

Ugh, Pete's sleep is driving me bonkers. For five nights in a row, he was woken up at 3am and is WIDE AWAKE. It takes so much effort to get him to fall back asleep. Like an hour or more of rocking. Last night I came to the decision that I don't want him to get into the habit of expecting an hour of rocking at 3am every morning, so I decided to have him cry it out. Poor baby, it took over an hour of crying for him to fall back asleep. And he was such a overtired grump this morning from the lack of sleep. I'm just not sure what else to do. He's exhausted by his 6:30pm bedtime and but seems ready to start the day at 3am. His naps are different each day, depending on whether he's a daycare or at home. Sighh, hope this phases passes soon!

I'll catch up on the rest of the thread later today. Just had my third grade class arrive!

I jinxed it, last night was not very good. 8:15 cried for a few minutes. 1:30 fussed/cried under 10 minutes then a few minutes after he stopped he was screaming, so I went and got him. Got him back to sleep but I was up for almost 1.5 hours. Then 4:30 up to nurse. Half and hour after he was back in bed awake crying, I go to rock him and he fell right back asleep but then kept crying in his sleep on and off for about half an hour. So I just held him until he woke up at 6:45. What a night.

@QueensBee: I think that is a good choice to let him sort it out for himself at 3am. He will learn to stay asleep. That is a big difference in price. I hope that nobody else puts in an offer so that they will come back and negotiate with you.

I'm hoping to hear from our builders today to get our 35 days notice of our possession date. Every day that we don't get it means moving that much closer to Christmas.

@travellingbee: Sorry that your sick. I hope you feel better.

@Smurfette: That sucks that you were a day ahead, you must just be excited for your weekend away.

@Adira: Bathtime at your house sounds like how it goes at our house. I hate having to do it on my own. I think Isaac has more fun when his dad does it.

@ALV91711: I am sorry. Is he teething?

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Ugh, I'm nervous about my supply... only pumped 1.5 oz this morning and 5 oz just now - usually it's more like 3 oz and 6.5 oz... I'm adding in another session in the middle of the day and I think I'll try pumping twice tonight instead of only once... hopefully that helps... I'm guessing because I didn't pump much this weekend... bleh

@QueensBee: Yikes - 50k is a big difference - what a bummer! But it's good that they're trying to negotiate with you and didn't just turn you down. Are they priced way high or did you guys just lowball them? I hope you have some luck!!

Sorry to hear about the rough sleep!!! Is he happy and playful at 3:00 a.m.?? I definitely wouldn't want to start the day that early! But I have no advice.

@ALV91711: Yikes! Your night didn't sound fun either! I hope whatever is bothering him goes away and he sleeps better tonight!

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: That is a huge difference! Did you low ball their listing price? I would let him CIO too. It is so hard but he will get use to Mommy not coming in and put himself back to sleep. Keep us posted!

@Adira: Try and not stress about it cause that makes it worse. Hopefully you get enough tonight for tomorrow.
But on the bright side, maybe it is taking a hit cause AF is on the way......trying to find a silver lining for you!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I probably just jinxed myself because this weekend I was all "It's okay if my supply goes down because I have too much milk in the freezer!" but I'm worried it'll just dry up, haha. Of course, I wouldn't mind AF making an appearance!!!

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Ugh... putting Xander to bed early was a disaster! He didn't have his last nap, so instead of having him nap when we got home from daycare and then woken up to eat, I just fed him at 5:30 and he was asleep by 6:30. But then he woke up at 4:20 STARVING!!! I'm so tired!

  36. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Did you get enough last night?
I am sorry it didn't work! What time is he napping at day care? Are they not putting him down or he just won't go to sleep? Maybe he is ready to move to 2 naps?

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: No, but I ended up only an ounce short, so it wasn't TOO bad. I'm pumping 3x at work today too to hopefully get my supply back up.

I'll have to check my notes, but I think he slept at roughly 9:30 - 10:30 and then 1:30-3:30 or something like that. So they WERE decent naps and 3 hours total is what he usually has at home, but broken up into 3 naps instead of 2. So I'm not sure... I know they say he's fussy at 8:30 and that they always assume he's hungry and then he goes down for a nap after his 9:00 bottle, but I know he's really just tired at 8:30. At home we put him down for his first nap around then and he doesn't eat again until around 10:00 and that puts him on a schedule to have three naps during the day and the last one isn't close to bedtime at all. So I don't really know what to do...

  38. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: First I am jealous he naps for 3 hours at day care. We had an hour and 30 min yesterday. Then she naps 30 mins on the way home, usually. But last night she was still so tired.
I would talk to them tonight. Ask to try naps at the same time he does on the weekend. See how it goes. Just make sure DH reminds them in the morning when he drops off

  39. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

I had to wake up R at 615! So we are finally back on schedule. She woke up around 445 coughing, and went back to sleep. Cried out one cry in her sleep around 6 and was back out. I hated having to wake her. She is sick so I know she needs the rest. Stupid cold!

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I've tried talking to them about the napping issue, but they say he is usually having too much fun and will cry if they try to put him down for a nap.

And don't worry - those 3 hours yesterday was a fluke! Usually it's closer to 2 hours at daycare (3 hours is normal at home).
