@cokiezombie: I've been using just a regular Vaseline lotion - I tend to have skin allergies, so I'm nervous about using anything I'm not familiar with. I don't know if the Vaseline lotion is helping or not, but I haven't noticed any stretch marks yet! *crosses fingers*
@MrsLMA: Thanks! Maybe once we find out the gender, it'll start feeling more real for people and then they might start planning.

Thanks for all the advice, mommas! I'll let the bumps and redness cool off before starting a new regimen. sigh.

Hi everybody!
14 weeks today, and we get to hear the heartbeat for the first time tomorrow! So very excited!
I'm still dealing with a lot of nausea and exhaustion, and still haven't gained any weight, but hopefully that isn't a problem. I'll talk to the midwife about it tomorrow. I would really like to enjoy food again...

@Arden: Congrats on hitting 14 weeks! Here's to a loud and strong heartbeat tomorrow!
You're gonna think I'm crazy for saying this, but I really wish I had food aversions, but nope, I can eat anything and everything in sight. I've already gained like 5 pounds (sigh).. so I'm really jealous that you haven't gained any weight at all. Do I sound crazy?

I'm due March 3rd! I was waiting until I was past the 12 week mark to join this thread, and I'm certainly there. I have a son who is 9 months old, so they will be 14-15 months apart- yikes! Things will be busy! Congrats to everyone- hope you're feeling great! Gender update to come in a week for me!

Coconut oil is also fantastic for your skin.
I went to the derm last week and have some rare, benign skin disorder called CARP. Characterized by large dark splotches all over my midsection. Even lotion can't help it, lol. But i'll still be slathering oil all over it!

YAY!!!! We heard the heartbeat today, and it was awesome. She warned me that we might not hear it right away, but the second she put the doppler on my tummy there it was, 152 bpm.
@mamachamp: Congratulations and welcome!

@cokiezombie: Haha, trust me, you don't want to feel like crap all the time just to stay skinny. It's not worth it.
I'm skinny but green, and green isn't very attractive either. lol

@mamachamp: Welcome!! and Congrats!!
@Arden: Yay! So glad that they were able to find it right away.
@cokiezombie: I hear ya. I want to eat everything. So hard trying to be good!

@Mommachamp: WELCOME! I always wanted a sibling that was really close in age- my sister is about 4 years older. You'll be busy, but I'm sure time will still fly! =)
@CookieZombie: I wish that I had food aversions to carbs..... but nope:) I've been trying to incorporate more veggies into my meals but fruit is all I want! I have decided that unles s my doctor says something about my weight gain, I'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to TRY to eat a balanced diet, and walk between 30 and 45 mintues a day and if I start gaining too much, I'll ask a doctor what they suggest. Otherwise, I'm not going to stress about it. Our bodies will do what they do, and there's not a whole lot we can do as long as we're trying our best, right? =)

I had dinner with a preggo friend last night who's 5.5 months along. She told me that despite throwing up almost every night for the past 5.5 months, she still gained 16 pounds! So I guess throwing up doesn't just mean losing weight??
@MrsLMA: I try to walk 30 - 45 every day too! I use the Nike app to track my walking. What's your pace? I am wondering if I should walk faster!
cherry / 167 posts
@CookieZombie: Usually I do 4 mph. I slow down if I'm dragging or if my sciatic nerve is bugging me, and speed up if I'm having a good day or fellinga burst of energy:) What about you?

@Arden: Yay!!! Congrats on hearing the heartbeat!!! Soooo exciting! And I don't think you have to worry about the weight gain yet. I think it's common to not gain or even lose some weight during the first trimester. Hopefully you'll start feeling better soon and start putting on the pounds though.
@cokiezombie: I'm the same as you! I can eat ANYTHING!!! And I was already overweight to begin with, so I'm not supposed to gain more than 20-25 lbs, so it's really hard when EVERYTHING is delicious! I've also gained around 5 lbs and I'm scared to see where I'm at at my next appointment!
@mamachamp: Welcome and Congratulations!!!! Sounds like you're going to be really busy in March with 2 under 2! I'll definitely be following you to see how it goes, because I actually want two children close in age like you're going to have them. I want to know how hard it's going to be, haha.

Alright ladies, I had my first Pregnancy Hormones breakdown the other day! Luckily, it was in the middle of the night, so no one had to witness it, haha.
I was DREAMING (yes, that's right, a dream caused my breakdown) that Hubs and I were coming back from a wedding, and we were at the airport and we missed our flight! The guy at the counter was TOTALLY unhelpful, and in the dream, I just broke down and started SOBBING because I wanted to get home so badly. Then I woke up, and I was STILL sobbing and I couldn't stop!!! I knew, rationally, that I was being crazy and that there was nothing to be upset about because A) I was already home and B) I've missed flights before and you just catch another one, it's not that big of a deal. It took me 10 minutes to calm down and stop blubbering in bed!
Anyone else have a Pregnancy Hormones breakdown??
persimmon / 1165 posts
That stinks Adira! I think dreams can over-exaggerate things and make them more dramatic than if it happened in real life.
We were in Chicago to meet my 4 month angel of a niece this weekend and when I had to say goodbye to her I completely broke down - like ugly-crying irrationality. I probably won't see her until January and it breaks my heart. I seriously start crying every time I think about her (like I am right now!). I rationally know I'll see her on Skype but the hormones get the best of me!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sheskrafty: Isn't it crazy how the hormones affect us??? Sorry you won't see your niece until January. I also have a totally adorable 4 month old niece, but I should see her around Thanksgiving I think, luckily. Although she comes with a 7 year old brat of a brother, haha.

Hormonal breakdown? I can relate. I just wrote this the other day - http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/hormonal-rollercoaster

I had one today at work. I am embarrassed. I have a lot building up on me right now in my personal life and with work. A manager yelled at me (for something he told me to do) and I lost it. I just got up and went into the bathroom. Damn hormones.

Since our thread is getting so long, do you mind if I start a March 2013: part 2? I'm not sure if y'all would prefer to keep everything here, or start fresh.

Hey Mamas..I just wanted to pop in and advise everyone that the weather is changing and to keep yourself warm. I came down with the cold this weekend (stupid San Francisco weather!) and took a sick day from work yesterday to rest up. Aside from drinking water and a mix of lemon/honey, I didn't take any medicine because I don't know whats safe and whats not for the little one. So just gotta ride this one out...
In any case, take care of yourselves, ladies!!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@cokiezombie: Funny (but not funny) that you should mention that--I came home from work after lunch because I have a cold and feel like crap! Not being able to take meds super sucks! The weather is still in the 90s here, so for me it's not related to temperature. I hope you feel better!
One other thing--remember to get flu shots soon!
apricot / 286 posts
@tororojo: Good call about the Flu shot! I'll need to get that done soon.
For me, blaming my cold on the weather makes me feel a bit bitter than blaming it on my colleagues (a few whom are also sick) or my little nieces and nephews
I hope you feel better soon!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@tororojo: I am going to get a flu shot the end of Oct. My work usually does them for free. I am going to ask the doctor next Friday if that is too late. They offer them at the doctor's office, so that is another option.

@cokiezombie: Ugh, I feel your pain. When I was 5 weeks, I got the WORST COLD OF MY LIFE! It was the kind that lingered for WEEKS. I was MISERABLE. Four days of being actually sick and then it lingered for weeks after that! I didn't take ANYTHING! Although now I wish I had taken my temperature just to be on the safe side. Just hoping it didn't get too high, but I didn't FEEL feverish when I was sick, just stuffed up.

Anyone Team Green or know the genders yet? I was thinking I'd update our list with our teams if we know them!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: We will find out for sure! I am too much of a planner to not know. I will schedule the ultrasound next Friday at my appointment.
I just told my boss. I was nervous 1) he is a guy 2) only been my boss for a three weeks now. But he was excited and said that it is great news! I feel so much better that it is over with now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yay!!!! I'm glad telling your boss went well!!! I had the same issue with my boss, that he was a guy and that I didn't really know him that well, so I was really nervous, but he was also excited! So glad your boss was happy for you!!
Ooooh, I'm excited for people to start scheduling their anatomy scans and finding out genders! I have an appointment tonight, so I'll be scheduling my anatomy scan tonight! I'm hoping to be able to schedule it for October 12th since both my husband and I already have the day off. I'll be 19 weeks 4 days, so I'm assuming they can do it then, right?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I don't see why you couldn't do it then. I mean it is almost 20 weeks. My friend is trying to convince me to go to a place at 17 weeks and get an ultrasound to find out the sex. It is like $40 but I think that we are just going to wait. I would hate to pay the money and then baby is being modest and you can't tell the gender.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I think I'd just wait it out until 20 weeks if you can manage it! I think my doctor's office does it between 18 and 20 weeks, so I'm assuming 19 weeks will work. I just hope they have a slot available for the 12th. And I hope baby cooperates!!
@Arden: Do you have it scheduled already?
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Smurfette: That's great! Big relief for you, I'm sure
@adira: I originally was OK with begin team green but my husband really wants to find out. Now that we've decided to do that, I am so anxious for 20 weeks to get here! I am 14w today.
persimmon / 1165 posts
We are Team Green! I could've found out the gender when we got our Cell-free Downs screening back last week (no downs or trisonomy 18 or 13 thankfully!!!!), you can find out as early as 12 weeks! I still can't wait to see the little peanut for the 20 week anatomy scan!
Has anyone had problems with a strange aftertaste after you eat or drink anything? This just started 2 days ago when I hit the 15 week marker and it's driving me nuts! I feel like I am going to constantly puke from this aftertaste and no amount of tooth brushing helps.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sheskrafty: I haven't experienced this, but is it possible you're not getting enough zinc in your diet?

@Adira: Mine is scheduled for Nov. 12th!! DH is sooooo excited he cant wait. Also it is right after we return from our 10 day Babymoon cruise! Some really fun things to look forward too!
Is anyone having severe joint achyness? I teach dance 3 evenings a week for a couple hours each night, and I am finding that I am way more sore than I have ever been before. Like swollen knees and having a hard time walking up my stairs sore. I acutally broke down and took a tylenol this AM i was so sore and I didnt even teach yesterday!! Any thoughts?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: Nope, not scheduled yet. We'll set a date at my 18 week appointment.
