@Arden: @Smurfette: Thank you!!! I'm sooooo excited!!! And now I feel like I can really get started on the nursery!
Everything looked good, although the baby's head was really low in my pelvis, so his brain was hard to see, and he fell asleep in the middle of it and wouldn't move, haha. The ultrasound tech had me get up and move around and even tilted the bed backwards in the hopes gravity would move him into a better location. It took a while, but she was finally able to see his brain and said everything looked good.
The whole thing took about 30 minutes. It was a lot of fun!

Hi March Mamas!
I'm a little late to this board, but I have been following it for a few months and am hoping that I can still jump on!
I am due with out first baby on 3/29/13 and we just found out this week that it will be a boy! We were totally surprised (both of us were convinced it was girl), but of course totally thrilled and excited. So far, I have been very lucky and have felt great throughout the entire pregnancy. I can't wait to continue to check in with this group and I wish you all healthy and wonderful second trimesters!

@shopaholic: @aprk: Thanks ladies!!! I'm loving that it's looking like I'm pregnant now and not just that I've had too much to eat, haha. Strangers can finally tell too - a cashier at A.C. Moore asked when I was due!

I know it's still early, especially since we are moving before baby gets here, but we just bought a bunch of clothes for LO. We found a kids consignment store and could not resist the deals!
Anybody else stocking up yet?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@aprk: Heh, I did that like a month ago. The kid's consignment shop was having a 50% off sale, so I bought a ton of gender neutral outfits, some onesies, hats, pants, and a tee. I now have TONS of onesies, but no sleepers.
Question: for a due date in March, living in Florida, am I actually going to NEED sleepers, or will a onesie under a swaddle be plenty? I don't want to buy things I won't need....
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Arden: by sleepers do you mean footed one pieces? We bought a couple of those which I figure they can wear during the day. Probably not needed under a swaddle. We're in NC so it'll get warm here quickly too.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@aprk: I haven't bought one single thing yet for baby
Waiting till we find out the gender.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@aprk: Yeah, one piece footed outfits. I'm not sure if we'll need more than one or two of those.
So far we have probably 10-15 onesies in each size (NB, 0-3M, 3-6M, 6-9M, 9-12M), which I think is enough? Plus I need to get a few more hats, and some socks, and a couple "outfits" in each size. Anything else?
My diaper stash is coming along. It's mostly GroVia's and BumGenius, although I'll be adding some Rumperooz and and maybe Blueberries. I got some BG 4.0's, but afterwards decided I wanted to stick with Freetimes, so I'm going to sell them and get more Freetimes.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I haven't bought anything for the baby yet either, although my friend went out and bought some boy clothes the minute I told her the gender, haha!
@Arden: I wouldn't think you'd need any sleepers, but I don't really know. How cool do you keep your house? And how cold can it get in Florida? You might want to get one just to be on the safe side maybe?
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Arden: you are on a roll!! We are going with the Bum Genius 4.0s ... what made you decide to stick with the Freetimes?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@aprk: I had gotten both Freetimes and 4.0's, and once I got them I realized the freetimes were going to be way easier to use. No stuffing, no touching the inserts to pull them out when you wash the diaper, no finding inserts and matching them to the diaper.
The freetime is one piece, done. Plus, the inserts are sewn in but not down, so they won't take forever to drive like other AIO's. So they are like the absolute easiest.

I realized that I should share my 20 week photo here. We aren't stocking up on clothes yet, but we did go to Ikea on Saturday to buy stuff for the baby's room!
Here's my 20 week photo. We are making things "Facebook official" tomorrow.

@aprk - ohmygosh, my LO already has half a closet FULL of clothes and baby stuff! We found out gender at 12 1/2 weeks and I couldn't help myself! Had a big shopping weekend with my mom, aunt, and Gma. My sister has bought 2 big hauls at her local consignment shop - all really great stuff (incl. some new with tags!) I keep buying clothes as well as stocked up on Tommee Tippee bottles, sterilizer, PPB diaper bag, sleep sacks, swaddles, hangers, books, stroller toys, etc. We bought the crib, mattress, and dresser/changing table too. If I see a good deal, I can't seem to pass it up!

@mole: So cute!!! Love the bump AND the shirt!! We're also making it Facebook official soon!

I just realized we currently have three Team Blues and three Team Pinks! It'll be interesting to see if we continue to stay 50/50 as more people find out the gender!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: I don't find out until Nov. 16, but I'm trying to convince them to let me come earlier. I have a Team Pink feeling, so I'm curious to see if I'm right!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I am really hoping we are going to be Team Pink! My gut keeps changing from blue to pink. Majority of people think pink for me. Seriously these next two weeks are going to go by so slow till our ultrasound. DH being gone all week in London isn't going to help, either!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Boo! That's such a long wait! That's a MONTH away!!! I hope you're able to convince them to see you sooner, although probably the longer you wait, the better chance you have of seeing everything you need to see. I'm curious if your intuition is right!

@Smurfette: A bunch of my friends thought Team Pink for me too! they were all so convinced, and the ultrasound tech was just "Your friends are wrong!" hahaha.
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: Yeah, I know! I would like to come in Nov. 5 so my husband can join, but I'm not 20w until Nov. 7, so they are being real sticklers!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Friends seem to be mixed. My whole family thinks pink, DH's family thinks blue. I have always wanted a little girl, so I just hope that I am not disappointed if it is a boy. Regardless of the sex, we are going to be over the moon in love with the LO.

@Aidra: CONGRATS on Team Blue! I had a girlfriend that was convinced she was having a girl and ended up having a little boy. She said it was great because she pretty much got to start "planning" everything all over. She had really only imagined girl nurseries, clothes, shower, names, etc so she got to start from scratch!
Everyone I know has said they think I'm having a boy.... without exception. I wonder why that is? I wonder what makes people feel one way or another?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Oh, that's annoying they're being so strict! My appointment was at 19 weeks 4 days, so I don't know why they couldn't do yours a little early! My office will do it anywhere between 18 and 20 weeks - we just happen to do it closer to 20.
@Smurfette: Does your husband have a preference at all? My husband wanted a girl and I wanted a boy, so we knew that one of us would be thrilled, haha. Now that I know I'm having a boy, I'm worried I'm going to have ALL boys though, because like you, I REALLY want a girl. I just wanted a boy FIRST.
@MrsLMA: Thank you! I wonder, are you carrying low? I've heard that if you carry low, that means a boy, so maybe people are just trying to base their guess on how you're carrying. People thought I was carrying high, so thought I was having a girl. Really, I'm just chubby and all that extra fat has moved up, so it gives the illusion I'm carrying higher than I am, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: In a perfect world, we both want 2 girls. Although he says that he has been thinking a boy would be much easier as a teenager. I really want a girl with this one so it takes the pressure off of #2. We only want 2 kids and I need at least one little girl!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I totally hear that! I've heard two girls are the easiest to raise, so I hope you get what you want!!! We're also only have two kids and I REALLY hope I get one of each. Now that I'm having a boy, it puts more pressure on #2! I actually would've really liked having two girls because I think I'd like girls more and they would be easier to raise, but Hubs is the only one of his family that can pass on his surname, so I'm glad we're having a boy to keep the family name going. That's actually one of the biggest reasons I wanted to have a boy. Plus I have an older brother and I LOVED having a big brother to look out for me growing up, so I'm hoping my second is a girl so she can have the same kind of family life I had.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I didn't think about passing on the last name. DH does have two male cousins that can pass it on. That is sweet what you said about your brother
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, is your husband has cousins that can pass on the name, I wouldn't worry about it! My husband has two male cousins, but they have different last names, so he's the only one that can actually pass on the surname! So I am glad we're having a boy to do that, although there's no guarantee he'll ever have kids, haha!
Do you have siblings? I think I just want to have the same family I had because it's what I'm used to! I figure I grew up with an older brother and know how my parents treated us, so I have an example to go by with my own kids! If they're both boys though, I'll be a little lost, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: My grandpa use to tell my brother that he had to have 2 boys since he was the last one to carry on the name. He said that he needed two just in case 1 didn't have kids or was gay. Ha! He passed away before they found out that #1 was a boy. But we all said that he was looking down for both and smiling when they found out.
I have an older sister and younger brother. We are all 18 months apart, so we were really close growing up. Also had cousins that we like brothers and sisters to me. One cousin just had their 2nd a couple weeks ago, but all my cousins are done with kids. I hate that our baby is going to be younger then all their cousins. We both have 2 nephews and the youngest on both sides will be 3 when our LO gets here.
