@legallyheidi and @Arden find out today!!! Hope your anatomy scans go well and baby is cooperative!!! Good luck today!

@aprk: @smurfette: @Adira: Thank you! I'm already freaking out, and I don't even leave for another five hours...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: Don't worry, it's fun! You get to see so much about your baby, like it's brain, heart, limbs, etc. Ours only took about 30 minutes, but I know some go longer. Do you have any guesses as to the gender?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: I'm leaning towards girl. My husband has no clue. My dad thinks boy. My MIL is sure it's a girl.
Although I'd be completely thrilled with either, I feel more "ready" for a girl. Because I had a little sister and more of my nanny-babies were girls, I just feel like I know what I'm doing with girls. Boys are new territory...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: I know what you mean! I'm kind of scared to have a boy because I don't know anything about them!!! But I'm also excited about having a boy because I'm curious to see what a little version of my husband would be like, haha! Although my husband's best friend just told me that my husband was wild as a child, so now I'm scared again, haha.

@Arden: @Adira: I feel the same way about boys - I know nothing about them! Although I have little nephews, I'm not as close to them as my little nieces.. and now with a little boy on the way, I don't know what to expect! But I am super excited to see a mini version of my husband!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: @cokiezombie: I was telling my husband that since we're having a boy, we have to make sure we get pee-pee teepees. He was all "WTF!" and then I told him about @winniebee's son who peed in his own mouth during a diaper change, and that made him get on board real quick. I think dealing with boys peeing during diaper changes are my biggest fear, haha!

@Adira: Sadly, I've heard those don't work very well. Apparently, boys have a lot of force when they pee. Who knew?
bananas / 9973 posts
@adira - Whaaaa? I've never heard that story or of a pee pee teepee! lol!
@arden - good luck today! trust me, once you're there and watching the screen, you'll WANT the appt. to go long so you can see baby longer!

@Arden: Yay!!! Another Team Pink!! Looks like your gut was right!! Love the balloons! Wasn't seeing the baby the best thing?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Smurfette: Yep! It slept through the first half, then it yawned and sucked it's thumb. DH called it "a very cute little skeleton."
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Smurfette: @Mrs. Blue: @aprk: Thank you!
I have one of the pink balloons weighted next to my bed. I keep staring at it...
bananas / 9973 posts
@Arden - Congrats! And welcome to Team Pink!
Wait - are those balloons all actually yours? Love it!
honeydew / 7589 posts
@shopaholic: No, not all of them are mine. I gave the balloon place a giant box to fill with either pink and purple or blue and green.
My DH and I took it out to the field behind out house and opened it.
I told her to keep one balloon weighted so I could keep it. The rest floated away.

@Adira: it got canceled and moved to this Friday because of the storm
On the plus side, I don't have to go alone (as i would have yesterday) - my mom and sister will be in town Friday (my husband will be away for national guard duty) so it's a win!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@legallyheidi: Oh, sorry to hear it got moved! Although it's good you didn't have to go out during the storm, and even better that you'll have some family to go with you!! I bet your mom and sister are excited they'll get to go to this appointment with you!

@legallyheidi: I bet your Mom and sister are so excited to go with you!!!
Looks like we have 5 of each Pink and Blue!

@Arden: That's such a sweet idea! I love that you have one to keep. I wish we could do some cute gender reveal, but we have our appointment at 8 a.m., and we're leaving town on separate trips as soon as work is over that day.

UGHH I just need to vent you guys. I was at my office Halloween party and my female colleague, said to me, in front of everyone, "Oh wow! Your boobs got huge!". SO inappropriate.
I am generally a very modestly dressed person at work - no cleavage, short skirts, bare shoulders etc. But I really can't help it if this pregnancy has caused me to have bonkers!!!!!!!!

now I am all self-conscious about it and keep trying to pull up my tank top when i see the slighest hint of cleavage. sigh..

@cokiezombie: I'm sorry! If it makes you feel any better, I had a total stranger comment on my body yesterday.
I was wearing a regular tee, and when I lifted my arms to get something off the shelf, my belly completely popped out. This lady goes "Looks like you've got quite the beer belly there!" Excuse me... what? I'm obviously pregnant. Maybe she thought it was funny?
Regardless... maternity shirts from now on.
bananas / 9973 posts
Awww... sorry to both of you ladies! I replied on the other thread. I'm pretty self conscious about not having my top be too short, so I have invested in a couple of maternity tees, tanks, and longer sweaters just for that reason (even though I can still fit my normal tops).
@legallyheidi: Good luck with the moved appt.! Your mom and sis will be so excited! I took my sis with me to one appt. DH couldn't go to and she was SO happy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cokiezombie: Gahhh, that's so rude!!! Who does that??? I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I'm sure you look fine!!! Try not to worry about it if you can.
@Arden: Wow!!! The nerve of some people!!! I had a GOOD FRIEND make a similar comment, but she just said "Looks like that shirt isn't going to fit for much longer," which is totally true and she's a GOOD FRIEND, so I wasn't offended. If a stranger said something like that, I'd GLARE.

@Arden: aww your bump is so cute!!
@shopaholic: i went to H&M during my lunchhour and got a sweater to cover myself up. Now I feel less self-conscious. blahhhh..
bananas / 9973 posts
@Arden: Lovely bump!!!
@cokiezombie: Yah. Sucks to feel self-conscious, but at least it's a practical buy!
posting this on the bump thread, but might as well share here too!
I've gained 4 lbs in the last 2 weeks! Bump seems to be growing exponentially since our babymoon!

I'm trying to catch up, so I apologize if I missed congratulating anyone on good news!
@Arden and @Smurfette: Congrats on the baby girls!
@cokiezombie: Ugh, I'm sorry. I think some people forget how to be polite when pregnancy is involved.
@shopaholic: Cute bump!
I hope everyone had a nice Halloween! I was feeling really sick, so I hopped into bed around 9pm. Now we have lots of leftover candy that I am trying to avoid. (Good thing I still feel a little queasy. Ha.)
We've started receiving things from our registry since we have an early, out-of-state shower over Thanksgiving weekend. We even got one of our strollers (Uppababy G-Lite). It's starting to feel more and more real. We also booked a photographer for a maternity session in early January at Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
We're also starting to think about a babymoon! We did a lot of traveling this year before getting pregnant (destination wedding, honeymoon, cousin's wedding in Australia, etc) so we are probably just going to do a short weekend in Santa Barbara. Is anyone else planning a pre-baby vacation?
