@Adira: that's definitely baby! i am carrying really low, so my bump isn't as pretty as yours yet

@aprk: Awww, thanks! And don't worry - yours will definitely get there!

@Adira: I'm actually pleased that I've passed the "pregnant or burrito?" milestone, lol. So, all good here.

@aprk: Yes!!! Once the bump starts looking like a baby bump and not just that you ate too much, that's when it all starts to get better!! In the beginning, I HATED my body and how bloated and fat I looked. But now that I have THE bump, I LOVE being pregnant. I think it's so cute!!! And for some reason, I feel a lot less fat now that I can just blame it on the baby.

@Adira: Awww! SO cute! The bump and you are looking lovely!

@shopaholic: Thank you!!! You're looking pretty fabulous yourself in your profile pic, though you need to post one here so I can see a larger version!

@Adira: lol. I know, I am so behind on bump pic this week. Will try to take one today!

  8. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: It's really easy to fall behind. Does your husband take your pictures for you? Mine isn't interested, so I always have to set up the tripod and get the camera just right. It's a pain in the butt! But that's why I only take them every 4 weeks, haha.

  9. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: No, DH doesn't take the pics. I have the tripod set up in the same spot, but I just get lazy to change the chalkboard. lol. OK, I'm motivated to go do it right now! Well, in a few minutes... hahaha

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: haha, I think I'd be lazy with the chalkboard too, which is why I don't have anything in my pictures indicating the week!

@shopaholic: @Adira: DH takes mine every Sunday. I always write the week on the white board. I get frustrated cause he doesn't take great pictures and doesn't put a lot of effort into taking the picture, but sounds like I should just be glad that he does it!

  12. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: @shopaholic: haha, I guess it depends! It would certainly be EASIER I think if Hubs took my picture, but I'd probably have a lot less control. As it is now, I setup the tripod and take 3-4 pictures (I have a remote control to take the pics), then I review them and if I don't like any or I need to change anything, I do, and I take some more pictures until I have one I'm satisfied with. If Hubs was doing it, it'd probably be more one and done and he'd be all "Good enough!" even if I hated it!

Okie dokie! You girls motivated me! Here's 23 + 4 weeks, "barefoot & pregnant" lol!
Just 3 more days till V-day!

    @shopaholic: looking good!!

OK, ladies. Are any of you in climates where you need to be thinking about a winter coat? I can't decide if I should buy one, or rent one. Not sure really what good options are out there.

@Adira: @shopaholic: you both look really great!!

@Aprk: I found a maternity winter coat at a baby consignment sale for $13! I didn't want to pay full price to wear one for just a few months (unless you could possibly sell it afterwards?).

So I've just started getting kicks to the bladder! I told the baby last night to stop it and DH said the baby was having fun in there. I tried to explain that it's not a fun feeling for me!

No shower scheduled yet, but probably sometime in January which will be nice because that's also our 1st wedding anniversary! I have no idea where it will be held. Houses in the immediate family aren't large enough for big gatherings and we were thinking of doing a co-ed shower.

@aprk: I am in ATL so I am good with a pea coat. I am lucky my cousin and a friend both let me borrow one. So I have a red and then a grey/black one. Have you looked at Old Navy? They were having a sale on outerwear, although I think I got an email that it ends today. The ones I am borrowing are from there. Not sure where else you would find one cheaper, unless at a consignment.

@aprk: I live in New England and it's already COLD. I have a winter pea coat that I'm currently using. So far it still buttons, but I know it won't forever. I'm thinking that when I'm bigger, I'll just leave the bottom button unbuttoned, haha. I'm hoping I can get away without buying a new coat just for the pregnancy, but who knows.

@penguin917: Ugh, bladder kicks! Good luck!!! Hopefully your baby will shift and start kicking you somewhere else instead.

Man you guys have lucked out in the coat department!! I wish I knew more folks I could borrow from I'll be commencing the great coat hunt this weekend ...

@aprk: haha, good luck!!! I hope you find something great that's relatively inexpensive!

@aprk: Now that @Adira: mentions it, my maternity coats just don't button all the way down. Just have a couple at the top. Could you use the one you have for a while like that? Then maybe in Jan, they will be on more sale and you could get a maternity coat then? I am still wearing a regular coat right now.

I did just think, I do need a light weight one for the tailgate and game next week. My Patagonia fleece can still zip up, but the belly is making it really tight. I might go to Target and just buy an XL fleece and see how that works.

@Smurfette: We just moved to NC and I have no idea what the winter weather will be. So far I've gotten along fine with just sweatshirts and sweaters. We are from PA so used to cold - I'm definitely going to need something when we head up there next month. My regular coats all zip up, and probably won't make it much longer

Thanks Ladies! I had lunch with 2 giflfriends yesterday and they were both shocked to see my bigger bump! Actually made me feel like, "whoa! is it THAT big?!?!" hehehe

@aprk: I live in SoCal but that means we can have 90-something days that drop to 50-something at night. So far I've been able to use all my same jackets, and I remembered that I have a small collection of vintage coats that are quite wide and "swing" or "cocoon" shaped. Do you have anything like that you can use? I also saw one lady just bought a larger puffer/quilted vest (they sell some even at Old Navy) and wore that under her regular coats even if they didn't button up anymore.

Everyone is looking so good! I got all dressed up for "date night" tonight (and, of course, did not clean the mirror). I am feeling round at 24w5d.

I'm upgrading to a newer phone tomorrow, so my picture taking skills should improve. Someday, I will also get my butt in gear and do something with my bimonthly shots that my husband takes for me as well.

Just an FYI to everybody - if you're planning on getting a doula, book one now! Even though I knew this would happen (I get booked months ahead all the time), I somehow managed to put it off till now and I'm struggling to find a doula I like that isn't booked solid.
    So get on it! lol

24 weeks yesterday! V-day! I'm so excited to make it to that milestone! What is the next milestone besides 3rd tri?

On another note, OB told me that baby has something called echogenic intracardiac focus. Yup, my eyes totally bugged out too when she said that! But she really didn't want to stress me out about it, told me her own baby had it, and it's really nothing to worry about. It's some kind of calcium build-up in the baby's heart, but they usually outgrow it before they're born. Oh the things you learn and worry about being pregnant!
Apparently being thin and being Asian are two of the common factors for getting it. I get to go to a special lab for another ultrasound in a week and a half. Seems like a really long time away, but I'm just trying to not worry about it and hope it goes away by the next ultrasound.

    * I already posted these on the bump thread, but still thought I'd share here too.

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: Sorry! But at least the good news is that she should grown out of it. And another plus side is you get another ultrasound. Cute pictures!!

So I felt baby girl moving/kicking a lot more this past week. But the best was Sat night, DH felt her for the first. We got home and were laying in bed, and she started kicking a lot. So I grabbed his hand, and he was like is that her. I said yep, he had a huge grin on his face. It was so cute!! She kicked about 5 or 6 hard kicks for him.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Arden: Bummer about your doula search! I hope you're able to find one!!

@shopaholic: Yay on Viability!!!! That's crazy about the calcium buildup though! You wouldn't think that being thin might actually cause issues! So annoying! But it's good that the issue is probably going to go away on its own before the baby is even born. Still, it's annoying to have one more thing to worry about! I hope your next ultrasound is comforting! And those pics are great!!

@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, so jealous your husband has felt the kicks!!! That's awesome!!! My husband still hasn't felt them - my placenta is too much in the way, and baby doesn't kick consistently enough. I can't wait for that to happen!!

@Smurfette: Thanks! I know...I'm just trying to look forward to the u/s as another chance to see baby, and Dr. told me they have the 3D/4D machine! YAY for your hubby he got to finally feel baby girl kick!!! Are you having him talk to the belly? I make DH talk to the belly at least a little bit every night and she really does get more active and kicks harder when she hears him!

@Adira: Thank you, and I know right?!?! I even told the Dr. "I hate milk and never even get enough calcium!" but she said it has nothing to do with my diet. Thanks and I will update you guys for sure after the u/s!

Hey ladies...hope it's ok for me to jump in!

I'm 23 weeks along with a baby girl...due March 18! This is my second, but my husband's first. I have a 5 year old boy.

This group looks pretty active. I'm excited to find a great board on here.

@smurfette it's actually going really well. I had GD with my first, and this time around there's no sign of it, which is making for a much easier pregnancy. This one makes me more tired, though. With my first, I was waiting tables...now with this one I cannot imagine doing that! Of course, it's been since then that I waited tables, so that may have a lot to do with it, too. Being a stay at home mom makes it a little easier to rest. Especially since my other kid went off to kindergarten this year. I have a lot more time to just focus on this baby.

I've been meaning to make a baby belly pic, so hopefully I'll get one posted in the next few days. I know that I have friends on Facebook that are dying to see, too, lol. Maybe I'll get my son to be my photographer when he gets home from school today!

@katiew92081: Welcome and congratulations on your baby girl!!! Are you excited to be having a girl since you already have a boy? Is your son excited about having a sibling?

  39. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@Adira: Thanks! Yes, I was hoping for a girl so much that I convinced myself it was going to be a boy, haha. My mother in law and I went shopping a few days after we found out it's a girl, and when we first arrived at the first store, at that first baby department, I had a moment where it was so surreal that I was actually buying girl stuff, lol.

My son is pretty excited. Some days more than others, lol. Since it's a girl, he's not sure how he's going to relate to her, but I think he'll be a really good big brother. I think it'll be good for him, cause he can show her all the things he tries to show us, and she will actually be impressed for real, lol. I keep telling him how much she's going to love him. I hope he's ready for it, lol.

@katiew92081: My nephew recently got a baby sister and I was talking to him about it. He wasn't really sure how he felt about it either (he's six years older than her), but I was telling him about how I had an older brother and he just got me to play with boy toys like Ninja Turtles and Transformers and stuff like that and that he would be able to teach his sister all the cool stuff he likes to play with. He seemed to get really excited about that. I think boys worry they won't have much in common with their baby sisters because they'll only be interested in "girl toys" and they just need to be reassured that sisters can be just as much fun as brothers. It'll definitely be interesting to see how your son reacts once the baby arrives!
