@Adira: The toy thing was actually a selling point for the girl. He's assuming that since she's going to be into girl things she won't want to mess with his stuff so much. I did tell him that because he likes stuff, she'll probably want to do the things he does, but for now I don't let it worry him too much. It's still 4 months away til she comes and even longer than that until she starts going for toys, lol.

@katiew92081: Oh, hahaha, well, you gotta tell him whatever will make him feel better! My nephew was interested in the idea of having a live-in playmate, so he liked that he might be able to get her interested in the same things he's interested in. But I bet the first time she tries to take one of his toys, he'll probably not be a fan, haha.

@katiew92081: That is great news that you don't seem to have GD this time. Impressive you were a waitress with your 1st pregnancy. I can't imagine being on my feet all day. I was the same way, I wanted a girl so bad that I was convincing myself it was a boy to prep myself. I was on cloud nine all day after hearing it was a girl. The clothes shopping is SO fun! Even DH loves it.

@smurfette: The clothes shopping is so much fun...not only cause of the clothes, but the accessories! I get a little overwhelmed thinking about all the extra stuff I never had to worry about with my boy, lol. my husband and I have given me a rule that I can't buy any more baby girl stuff until Christmas shopping is done, and I'm just itching to buy more stuff, lol. I've been very productive, and I have my holiday shopping almost done, lol.

@katiew92081: I know what you mean! I am trying to not buy too many clothes till after our showers cause I am afraid we are going to get a ton of clothes and no actual stuff for her. I am waiting till I get more clothes to buy headbands and socks and stuff, so they can match. I really, really want her to have some hair. I love the little bows.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: I'm ok with a ton of clothes. we're in a 2 bedroom apartment and so we're sharing our room with her until our lease is up, when she's about 6 months old. We're only really getting a pack and play as for as big stuff, so we have a little more leeway on clothes. anymore big things just take up space! I keep telling people clothes and accessories are totally fine!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: I'm finding that lots of people like to look for a reason to buy baby girl clothes, lol. I'm getting offers from people that wouldn't even normally buy stuff for me for any other reason, lol. They're like, "this is cute...who do I know has a baby girl! Oh, I know! Katie!" and they buy it just cause it's pretty, lol.

Do you ladies send out Christmas cards to family and friends? Are you going to include your unborn baby when you sign it? Normally, I just sign mine "Love, Adira & Hubs" but I'm wondering if I should do "Love, Adira, Hubs, & Baby" or something. Or is that weird because the baby hasn't been born yet?

@Smurfette: @katiew92081: Oh man, buying little girl clothes is my total weakness! She already has stuff stocked up for 2 years! My sister and DH are trying to figure out a way to say "Please DON'T buy us anymore clothes for the baby shower [invites]!" lol
I admit I did hit up Baby Gap today and it will only be my first of many this crazy Thanksgiving sales week!
@Adira: Yes, we always send one and I think this year we're going to do something with the belly (like kiss the belly under a mistletoe). That is if I ever get around to it! It will be just us (and the furbaby) for now. I won't sign it with LO's name until she arrives. Though, I have already signed some Thank You cards for gifts with her name... so maybe I'm weird. lol

@katiew92081: People do love buying girl clothes. They are so cute!
@Adira: We don't send out Christmas cards. We will next year though. If we did, I probably wouldn't sign the baby's name till they are born.
@shopaholic: If you figure out how to say that, let me know. My family doesn't have the same taste as me, so I really would rather them buy stuff we need and leave the clothes to me. But I know that I am living in a dream world, cause everyone loves buying girl clothes. A kiss on the belly under the mistletoe would be so cute!!

@Adira: This is our first year sending xmas cards. The front shows a photo of us with our dog..and the back is a photo of the cutest pair of tiny Toms with the caption "Coming Spring 2013". the card is signed "Cokiezombie, DH & Doggie". I can't wait to send them out!!!!

@Smurfette: LOL! Riiight? My sis told me to post a pic of the baby's closet (and I posted this one on Facebook about a month ago), so people would get the hint. I'll also update the "closet" photo when we're doing the nursery and the Elfa install. I've already had quite a few friends tell me (from that one FB pic and my Instagram pics) that I'm so bad and that baby girl doesn't need anymore clothes! bahahah! I like what I pick out better anyways! lol!
@cokiezombie: Oh! That sounds SO cute!

@aprk: @Arden: LOL! I can't take ALL the blame! I DO have my sister who is almost on par with my shopping and spoiling her first niece already! And I have to say, it's already extended to the other side too....

@shopaholic: OMG! You do have a lot of clothes!!!!! I love it!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: @Smurfette: @cokiezombie: Thanks for the advice ladies! I think for now I'll just sign it "Adira & Hubs" and leave off baby until he's actually here!
@shopaholic: OMG! I can't believe how much clothes you've already accumulated!! I think I only have 4-5 pieces so far!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: Wow! I have about 10 sets or so. You make me look like a slacker! I haven't bought anything for 12m or over, either, so maybe that makes the difference. Since hubby and I are sharing our room with the baby, my son has to share his closet. He doesn't hang stuff up anyways, so it's only practical, even though he's not thrilled to have so much pink in his closet, lol
@Adira: I used to mail cards out every year, but I've moved around so much that people don't send to me as much, lol. If they send me one in time, I'll mail them one. This year I'll sign it without the baby.
bananas / 9973 posts
@katiew92081: Yeah, actually I have less than 10 onesies/sleepers/pjs combined for each age group and they are all hung (no drawers yet). I think it's cuz I've gone ahead scooping up deals for later on (and my sister keeps getting a ton of cute stuff!) that it looks like SO MUCH. When I see other people's drawers and laundry pics for getting the nursery ready for baby, I think I have less sleepers/onesies than most. Well, at least for so far...hahaha

@shopaholic: can you adopt me? hahaha :).. your little girl is so lucky to have a full wardrobe of cute clothes already!!!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: I do have stuff in drawers, so maybe it could be comparable. I have already put some newborn and 0-3 month stuff in the drawers we have for her "current wardrobe", not to mention all the accessories I have. I think I'm in love with the idea of tights and hair bows more than the actual clothes! I'm like that for myself, too, though, so I suppose it's only natural. I do enjoy getting her clothes, too, though. My mother and mother in law are also hoarding stuff, so once all the stuff they've accumulated arrives in our house, maybe it'll be close to yours, lol.

Ladies, my nursery is finally clean!!!! I was able to get EVERYTHING out of it!!! Now just need to move the furniture out so I can paint it!!! I'm feeling a lot less stressed now that it's finally empty of all the JUNK I had in there, haha!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: impressive! We haven't done anything but add more baby clothes and the crib pieces. I am trying to do all my Christmas shopping online so I can work on it during the weekends. So lazy though.

@Adira: awesome job! I'm hoping to get a lot of clearing out this week!

I'll be excited when we have a nursery! We started to pack today - moving next month to a bigger place.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Ooooh, moving is exciting!!! What kind of place are you moving to? Does it have a room you've dedicated to be the nursery? It kind of works out well that you're moving to a new place because you won't have to clean out a room for the nursery - although I guess you have to clean out your entire place and move it, so nevermind!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: we are definitely excited to move, but packing is always crummy we're going to a two-story townhouse with three bedrooms since we need to have a home office. It will be fun to get the baby's room set up finally! We've been holding off on buying much more than clothes until we are settled.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: I think if I ever have to move again, I'm just going to hire people. I hate moving, especially all the packing you have to do ahead of time! I can't imagine having to do it while pregnant - I'm tired and unmotivated all the time these days! I hope your husband is being super helpful in all the packing!!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: I hear ya. My husband is super helpful thank goodness. When we moved here in the spring he moved everything from the truck up to our apartment all by himself, poor guy. He's quite useful, lol. The up side is that we have moved so often in the past few years that we've culled our belongings down pretty well.

Is anyone else more clumsy now? I've changed my shirt twice today cause of dripping food on myself. It mostly ends up on my belly, so I'm glad Baby girl is safely inside...otherwise she'd be pretty sticky, lol. I drop stuff, smack my feet and hands on things...so crazy! I don't remember this from my son so much. Maybe a little, but this is crazy. I haven't fell, thank goodness, but I'm also avoiding anything that could end up with me on the floor, just because of the track record I'm leaving.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@aprk: I do that, too! I think I misjudge the space that I now need to get through doorways and stuff, lol.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: I drop so much stuff these days. I don't even know I do it but I end up with stains on my shirts!

Oh my gosh, ladies, I'm never going to stick to my weight gain goal! My doctor told me to only gain 20-25 lbs during my pregnancy and I've already gained 18 at 26 weeks! Ugh!!!! This is so hard! I just want to eat ALL THE TIME!!!
How is everyone else doing with weight gain?
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: I have the same problem. I am probably near my entire weight gain projection already too. I'm hungry ALL THE TIME. I just gain weight really easily and I don't think 15-20 lbs was ever realistic for me to begin with.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Yeah, I'm the same way - I gain weight really easily! I thought I'd be able to stick to the 25 lb goal in the beginning because I only gained about 4 lbs in the first trimester. But ever since the second I've been gaining 1-2 lbs a week!!! Eeeek! Now I'm just hoping I can keep the whole thing under 30, but I'm just not sure it will be possible!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@Adira: I admit I started to get anxious about it yesterday. I think my face is start to get soft, lol. But, I'm trying to take it one day at a time and just make good choices. My body will do what it will do.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: You're doing better than me then. I'll eat too much for ONE meal, and then for the rest of the WEEK, I'm like "F it! This week is already messed up!" and just eat whatever I want! But I was definitely noticing it this morning - my arms and face are looking a bit flabbier. Blah!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I was told 25-35, and at 24 weeks I probably at 19 or 20lbs. It is depressing. I go to the doctor tomorrow. Going to ask what else I can do. I watch what I eat, work out, but I just look at food and gain weight. I am scared what the next 16 weeks are going to bring. Most of my good girlfriends gained 50+ with their first pregnancies, and I really don't want that to happen. I know I have to lose it after and it scares the crap out of me. I won't be able to work out at night like I normally do with a baby when DH is traveling during the week.
