@Smurfette: I only took a photo of the side that is more "finished" (although you can see the huge stack of stuff hiding in the corner).
    @katiew92081: Cute bump!
@Adira: We decided against painting, so that made things easier on us. I can't wait to see your room.
@Arden: Thanks! It's so easy to keep buying the diapers since they are so cute! It sounds like you have a great stash too.
@cokiezombie: Thanks! We definitely splurged on the glider. That store is too lovely; I always have to throw away the catalogs so I don't get tempted! Baby boy is going to have to learn to appreciate Ikea. That's awesome about the Pottery Barn shipping. Which bedset are you getting?

So I ordered some onesie stickers for months 0 - 12! I LOVE them!! They came yesterday! I haven't shown them to Hubs yet - I think he's going to think I'm silly...

@Adira: Those are adorable!! My friend has onesies that someone gave her for each month, so she she said that I can borrow those. They are going to be my backup if I can't come up with some thing else. I need to check out etsy.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yes, definitely check Etsy! That's where I got these! I'm so excited about them because both Hubs and I are pretty geeky, so I figured the little robots were right up our alley! That's really convenient though that your friend has onesies you can borrow in case you don't find anything you like!

Sorry to be a negative nancy lately, but I am going to see a new physician today to talk about my sleep/nighttime anxiety issues. I haven't slept in a week+ and I am terrified to find out what sort of damage I'm doing to the baby. Fingers crossed.

@aprk: I hope you get some answers. I am having trouble sleeping, but yours sounds 100% worse. I hope you get some answers soon. I am sure baby is fine! Let us know what the doctor says.

@Smurfette: thanks Hope you are getting more rest, too!

I am back from acupuncture and doctor appointments. Baby is fine, and I walked away with a Rx for Ambien. I hate to medicate in general, but I think if I can get some rest I'll be able to reset myself and figure out how to calm my anxiety and nighttime panic. The over tiredness is doing nothing to help me self-soothe.

The acupuncture was great, and I would totally recommend. I'm definitely going to go back. She was great to talk to, and nice that she could look at my problems from a different perspective. I actually had a panic attack while on the table trying to relax with needles in my ears, lol, and she was able to get me through it, as opposed to fighting it.

@aprk: I'm glad you were able to meet with a doctor and get some help! Although it sucks when we have to resort to using medicine, sometimes that's all there is! I'm sending you sleepy vibes so hopefully tonight you get a good night's rest!!!

Also, glad you enjoyed the acupuncture! I've never tried it before, but I've heard wonderful things from people who have!

@Adira: Thanks. I am so hoping that it will help!! Definitely would consider the acupuncture for a bunch of different things as needed. She did a really good job of explaining the energies to me that made a lot of sense.

@aprk: That's awesome! You'll have to let us know tomorrow if you're able to get some shut-eye tonight. I know I've been having trouble sleeping, and when I do sleep, I wake up every couple hours to pee, but I don't think it's nearly as bad for me as it sounds like it is for you. I haven't been experiencing the anxiety that you're describing, so I really hope things start looking up for you!

@aprk: Did you get some sleep last night??

  12. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Smurfette: Thanks for asking. Sorry to report that I only got one hour with the ambien. Crying and pacing all night with a massive panic attack at 7 this morning. Trying to find a psychiatrist who I can talk with today.

@aprk: Aww, I am so sorry!!! I wonder what is going on that you just can't relax and sleep. Did you try the unisom?

  14. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Smurfette: I wish I knew! I tried unison and benadryl before getting the ambien rx.

@aprk: Blah! I'm sorry you had another sleepless night, despite using the ambien! How terrible! Hopefully you'll find someone to talk to and maybe that will help.

Has anyone had any crazy cravings, yet? Mixed anything that would normally not sound good? This past weekend I put sausage gravy on my french toast...with maple syrup and all! I actually woke up craving it. And you know what? It was good! My husband thought I was nuts, though, lol. Then a few days ago I was wanting coconut...like the inside of an almond joy. So weird. Once I get to eat these things, the cravings go away, so it's not like I have a standard craving that's always looming...I just come up with some weird stuff!

I also buy things at the grocery store that I impulsively crave...then I get it home, eat a bit of it and then it's "meh" when I think about eating them again. My husband's co-workers are enjoying this, cause I'll buy something, or bake something, eat two bites of it and send it to work with my husband, lol.

Makes me feel like a crazy person, lol.

@katiew92081: I've gotta say that sausage gravy on french toast with maple syrup sounds kind of gross to me, haha. But whatever works!!! I haven't experienced any bizarre cravings yet. I want chocolate all the time, but that's nothing too strange.

@adira: In real life, I crave chocolate...but it has been giving me heartburn the last few weeks, and I steer clear of it. Even oreos and other things with chocolate in them aren't safe.

  19. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: Nothing really. I have always loved candy and now even more then ever. So not what the scale needs right now.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: I wonder if chocolate is giving me heartburn! I've noticed a ton of heartburn lately, but hadn't really thought about what could be causing it... I hope it's not the chocolate...

    @Adira: Cute stickers!
@aprk: Oh man, I hope that you are able to find a solution quickly! I'm sorry that you are dealing with this.
@katiew92081: I don't think that I have had many pregnancy-related cravings at all -- and nothing that would be categorized as odd! I went through a phase where I wanted lots of apples, but I love apples anyway.

Today, I had my 1-hour glucose screening test. The drink tasted like an ultra-sweet version of that orange drink from McDonalds, so I was able to gulp it down. I was feeling a bit dizzy during my midwife appointment, and then I completely passed out during the blood draw. (My husband, who has seen me faint before, was perfectly calm. The phlebotomist -- who was a student in training -- apparently was freaking out.) I really hate needles, although I can tolerate shots just fine. Whoops. I should get my results back within a week. Fingers crossed.

In more positive news, my weight gain is back on track after a post-Halloween weigh-in! I'm up ~17lbs at 27w3d.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@mole: Oh wow, you had your glucose test already?? I have mine on Friday and I'm sooooo nervous! Did you have to fast for yours? I'm supposed to fast for 10 hours beforehand, and then the test itself is two hours (blood draw, drink, wait an hour, blood draw, wait another hour, blood draw). Regardless of how it goes, I'm going to get breakfast after and then get my hair cut finally!

Good for you on the weight gain! You're doing better than me. I'm at 19 lbs at 27 weeks, although that's just based on my scale. I'll find out for real how I'm doing on Friday at my 28 week (really 27w4d) appointment.

ETA: I just saw your picture! Your bump is so cute!!!!

@katiew92081: Not anything super weird, but I do have very specific cravings. Potatoes have been a resounding theme throughout my pregnancy, but today I REALLY want Olive Garden.

  24. mole

    apricot / 373 posts

@Adira: Thanks! I think that we are on pretty similar appt schedules! My appointment was at 10:30am, so I skipped breakfast that morning (although I had a little water to drink when I woke up.) My test procedure was just slam the drink (within 5 minutes) and then do a blood draw one hour later. I know that there are more specific instructions and procedures for the 2 and 3 hour versions of the test.

Good luck on Friday! I'm sure that everything will be great.

  25. Adira

@mole: Are you worried about passing at all? Diabetes does run in my family, though I'm not sure if that increases the chances of GD at all. I'm also worried because I've had a crazy sweet tooth during this second trimester and I've been eating chocolate like there's no tomorrow! I don't know if eating too much sugar can lead to GD either, but I'm just worried! Hopefully we all pass!

ETA: And I just realized you're due the day before me, so it makes sense you had your glucose test this week, haha.

  26. mole

    apricot / 373 posts

@Adira: If I don't pass the 1 hour test, I will need to take the 3 hour version before getting officially diagnosed. I think that I have been more worried that my weight gain was going to be higher than recommended and that it would cause issues for me or the baby. Because I started out overweight, though, I know that I have an increased risk of GD. (Honestly, though, I don't really know the other predictors!) Knock on wood for us.

  27. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Adira: I researched this endlessly, and GD is correlated with excessive weight gain but not solely with eating sugar. You could eat all the sugar you want, and as long as your body processes it properly then it won't result in GD. Whereas some people hardly consume any sugar but if your body isn't making enough insulin, you will have it. I had 3 Tollhouse cookies the night before my test (like...12 hrs beforehand) and I passed! I didn't have to fast for mine and just ate my normal bowl of cereal the morning of.

P.S. I still lurk here at times b/c if I'm a day late, I'm gonna be a March mom! But I'm hoping for mid-Feb.

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@mole: I wonder if my office has another test. Our originally test is two hours, so I wonder if it's a one-and-done thing, so if I don't pass this one, that means I didn't pass. I guess I'll find out! Did your doctors suggest how much weight you should gain during your pregnancy? I was also overweight to begin with and so mine said to get 20-25 lbs, and I'm already at 19, so I'm nervous.

@tororojo: Thank your the information!! I'm a little concerned about my weight gain, especially in this second trimester. I'm definitely gaining faster and more than I would have liked, and I was overweight to begin with. At every appointment though, my doctors just say my weight gain is good. I'm not sure I believe them though, because I'm supposed to only gain at most 25 lbs and I've already gained 19!

Also, is this your first? I suspect you might end up being a March Momma.

@Adira: Noooo, I want to be a Feb mama!!! I was born a month early so I'm hoping my daughter will do me a solid and come out at least a week or 2 early...ya know, karma or whatever. My doctor says my birth won't affect hers, though. (yes she's our first)

I know what you mean about gaining faster than you would like--I have gained 24 lbs and I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow. So if I want to stay at 35 lbs or under, I need to slow down a little bit. I think you and Mrs. High Heels are the closest people before and after my due date, btw--she is 2/27 and I think you're really early March, right?

*ETA* I just scrolled back and there are several early March moms! Noted.

@mole: you look great! Fingers crossed you pass.
@Adira: I have mine on the 18th, but I was told to just eat a regular breakfast, just not a lot of simple carbs, but no need I fast. Said that I will drink the drink, then have my regular appointment, then after the hour have the blood drawn. I have been eating too much candy too:(

Well, my husband and I decided to check into the hospital. Baby seems fine and I finally am starting to feel relaxed. Waiting for some bloodwork to be run. Apparently this hospital specializes in perinatal mood disorders, so we're in good hands.

@aprk: Oh that's good. I'm glad you're getting the care you need, I really hope they are able to help you get in a better place.

I've been looking into some options to help with my anxiety too, although it's not as serious as yours I am struggling with it. I tried hypnosis today and it did relax me while I was doing it, but the anxiety came back an hour or so later...

@aprk: Rest up! I hope they figure out what is going on. Glad baby is fine.

@Arden: it's a tough road. I've never had it this acutely before. Any amount of anxiety is scary. Have you looked into yoga or aromatherapy? I never did well with just breathing deeply, but I found if I got into warrior pose for example, my body could focus on the breath easier because my muscles were engaged. Good luck!

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@tororojo: haha, well good luck with your early baby! 24 lbs at 28 weeks doesn't seem too bad. Someone posted a poll here on Hellobee about weight gain and it seemed like a lot of people gained the majority of their weight in the second trimester and then slowed down in the third, so hopefully the same will be true for us so we can stay under our goal!

@Smurfette: Oh nice! Yeah, I scheduled my regular appointment to be after my drinking the drink too, although our lab is first-come, first-serve, so I'm just hoping that the timing works out right.

@aprk: Yikes! I'm sorry you had to resort to checking into the hospital, but HOPEFULLY you will FINALLY get some much needed rest and figure out what the heck is going on!!!

My crib bedding from Pottery Barn arrived last night!!! I'm sooooooooo excited now to get started on the nursery!!! I was showing Hubs and I'm pretty sure he was just making fun of me, but he kept going "OMG, those elephants are sooooooo cute!!! I LOVE them!!!"

@aprk: I hope you're asleep right now! Although it's 10:00 a.m. where I am, so my guess is you're probably not. Hopefully you FINALLY got some rest though!

@Adira: That is exciting!! Post some pictures!!

I have decided to take off work the 20th and 21st since I have two days left to take before the end of the year, or I lose it. Plus then I don't have to be back at work till Jan 2nd, woo hoo. I am going to use those two days to start packing up everything in the office, redoing storage units and closet. That way I get a jump on it instead of waiting till January to do it all.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: That's a good idea!! I also have that week of December 24th - January 1st off, though we have to do a bunch of traveling to hit up all the family for Christmas stuff, so I won't have a ton of time to get anything done. I'm planning on hopefully getting all the furniture out of the nursery (there are a couple dressers in there at the moment) and cleaning it (vacuuming and dusting) so that it's ready to paint.
