@Adira: Yeah we don't have time during that last week of the month either, with Christmas traveling and then going away with friends for weekend/New Years. Hopefully I can get a lot done!
What color are you painting the walls?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: My plan is to paint the nursery grey with a thick teal stripe. I think specifically we'll be doing Behr's Flint Smoke and Behr's Mermaid Treasure. It's hard to know for sure which colors will work because we just have the small samples. Mermaid Treasure looks like it could be pretty bright, but I'm thinking since it's just the stripe, it'll be okay. Plus our bedding is white and grey, so a pop of color will be okay. At least I hope!!!

oh my gosh ladies! I'm so behind on this thread!
@Adira: Oh those Robot onesie stickers are SO cute! I'm hoping to use a picture frame or small chalkboard for update pics because I want to use baby girl's cute outfits for pics. But I LOVE the robots! & p.s. I LOVE grey walls! If we had a boy, I was going to do grey (and we already have a charcoal room too). A pop of teal stripe sounds really nice - I can sort of imagine your vision! And you need to share a pic of your PBK crib bedding!
@katiew92081: & @mole: GREAT BUMP pics ladies!!! IDK why, but I don't think my bump pics get too much love yet because I guess I'm still not showing a whole lot to other people. I went shopping with my BFF yesterday and no one guessed or thought I was preggers! Even a new mom I started chatting up! But definitely to friends & family I am showing for the past month. I'm super behind on bump pics! Need to get around to taking one today!
@mole: Love that dress on you! How tall are you? I looked at those dresses, but I thought they would be too tall on me, but I think it's so cute! Yay for your weight gain being on track! I haven't gotten officially weighed for a while and I know my scale at home is a bit off. I am going to try to go in for my Glucose Test tomorrow morning. It's a walk-in so I just have to remember and try to fast for the 10 hrs.
@aprk: Awww...honey! I'm so sorry about the sleep situation! I have bad sleeping patterns too, but yours sounds miserable! Have you tried prenatal yoga and/or acupuncture yet? I know I always get a good night's sleep after some yoga (especially Bikram, but that's off limits right now).
@Smurfette: 2 days off sounds like a good plan! I think it took me 2 days to jump start getting the nursery ready too (1 day to clear and clean, 1 day to paint) and now I feel like I'm on a good roll! Good luck!
AFM (As For Me): After being cooped up in the mountains for a few days, I was itching to do stuff yesterday being back home! Got some Xmas and a bridal shower shopping done yesterday, and picked up some more decor stuff for Kaitlyn's (that's Baby Shopaholic's name in case I never mentioned it) room.
Nursery was finished painting last week and I just have a few spots I want to go over and re-touch myself. We also got the old closet removed and the Elfa tracks installed! Now I just have to arrange the layout I want and wait for the Container Store Sale to start in Jan, to buy a few missing pieces and finish it up!
Going to try to do the Glucose Test tomorrow morning. I STILL need to sign up for the birthing and BF classes - IDK why I've been dragging my feet on those. Addresses are all finally given to my baby shower hostesses and it looks like invites will go out soon! Will try to post a bump update pic today!
And I can't believe I'm 2 days away from 3rd Tri!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: You have a bridal shower you have to shop for?? Geeze, lots of stuff going on for you!!
That's so exciting that you finished painting the nursery!!! I can't wait to see pics of everyone's nursery and see what everyone did!! What color did you end up going with?
Oh yay, we both have glucose tests tomorrow! Yours sounds like mine - I also have to fast for 10 hours beforehand. Although mine is scheduled, it's really a first-come, first-serve type of thing in our lab, so I'm going to try to get there around 7:00 to get it over with. How long is your test for? Mine is two hours and I'm NOT looking forward to it. I can imagine not eating and then having to drink that sugary drink is not going to make me feel well.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Yup, I have a bridal shower to attend this weekend for a wedding (Dec. 30th). Still haven't decided what to wear for the wedding as the last dress I wore (avatar pic) won't look so cute anymore (but it's a non-mat dress).
Yeah, the Glucose Test is 10 hr fast, 3 draws in a 2 hr time frame. I know I'll be so hungry during the wait and bored too. Gotta bring my Kindle!
Went with a coral for the nursery & the bottom half is white wainscoting.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Sounds like your glucose test is identical to mine! What time are you going to try to go in? I'm hoping I can get in at 7:00 and be done by 9:00, otherwise I'm going to be STARVING.
Ooooh, I LOVE coral! Coral and white are soooo pretty together! Are you the one that posted the pic of the three different coral colors? Did you end up going with the one that really popped?? I'm excited to see what that looks like!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Yeah, I am going to try to go as soon as I wake up in the morning.
Yes, I posted the different color picks of the coral. I ended up going to get a custom shade (50% of the darkest coral) and you know what? I am so glad I did that, because on the walls, it still looks pretty dark and almost identical to the original full 100% swatch! It's because we only have one window in the room and it faces East, so no direct sunlight. Will try to post a pic!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Good luck to both of us with our tests tomorrow! Hopefully we're able to get in early and get it done early AND we pass!
The coral and white sounds soooo pretty! I can't wait to see it! It'll be fun to see everyone's nurseries once we're all done with painting and setting up everything!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Good Luck tomorrow. Let us know how it is. I love coral and white together. I can't wait to see pictures. I feel so behind, but we aren't painting. Maybe we are lazy, but the walls are already a tan/brown color, so I think that we are just going to touch up the walls. Then get pink curtains and sheets, etc, Hopefully it will turn out cute!
I really wanted grey and pink but DH said that he didn't think that we should do grey walls, since our bedroom is grey walls and they are right next to each other. Party pooper!!

@Adira: I think that my midwives recommended 20-30lbs. I honestly can't remember, though. It was during the first appointment when we were just so excited that we saw a heartbeat. Your nursery sounds like it is going to be so cute with the elephants and the teal stripe!
@Smurfette: That's great that you get to take some time off to work on the nursery (and relax!) before the holidays. My last class that I am teaching this month ends on the 19th, so I am already counting down the days.
@shopaholic: Thanks! I really don't get too many comments in real life about my bump. I'm always surprised when I read people talking about all of the rude/crazy comments that they get from strangers about their bellies when I can count on one hand how many times strangers have even acknowledged that I am pregnant! Anyway, I think that your bump is cute!
I am 5'7", and the dress is pretty big/long on me. I end up scrunching it up so it doesn't sit weirdly around my knees/calves. I still bought it, though, since it was the last one at the Target -- and it was on sale for $8!
@aprk: I hope that you are having a good morning!
@tororojo: I sometimes lurk in the February group too! I am officially due March 3, but the baby's last two ultrasounds (11 weeks, 19 weeks) estimated the date at February 28. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: People don't notice my bump...unless they already knew I was pregnant. If I'm sitting, it doesn't stick out as much, and it's smaller in the morning. Also, my coats cover it up some, too. My son has a way of telling people about it, so when he brings it up, they then notice and are like, "oh!"
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Okay girls, I have to ask - how are your sex lives going?? I've noticed that I have ZERO sex drive this trimester and Hubs is lucky if we get busy once a week. Anyone else experience this or am I the weirdo?
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: Heh. We've had sex ONCE since I got pregnant. For shame... and totally my fault.
So yeah, you're not alone. I win the sad sex life competition.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: Oh my gosh, you just made me feel soooo much better. I'd LOVE to go without sex completely, haha, but I think my husband might leave me if I did that.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: well we haven't in the last two weeks, due to DH having a cold sore and now I have a cold. But before that it was at least once a week, which is less then it was before but mostly cause I go to bed before him most nights. I think that it is going to start getting tricky with the belly. I haven't really lost my drive, I am just to tired at night
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: The belly is definitely a problem for me too. I only really like one position and it involves lying flat on my stomach, so... not really sure what to do now. We tried a couple different positions, but they just aren't doing it for me.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah last time we did, it kind of hurt cause he was laying on top of me. Good thing that was a quickie my favorite is me on top but I like to lay on top on him, so that still won't work. Only certain positions "work" for me, so it is going to be interesting to see if we can make it work till baby girl gets here. I hate to not, esp since we have 6 weeks after of not being able too.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I'm trying to continue having sex at least once a week so Hubs doesn't get totally neglected, especially because of the no-sex after birth, but it's definitely getting hard. The belly's in the way and I'm never in the mood, so it's getting challenging!
apricot / 373 posts
Gah, I failed the 1-hour glucose test. I am bummed. I am going in tomorrow for the longer, 3-hour test. Good luck to everyone else doing the test tomorrow as well.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: You know what else is challenging now, shaving down there. I don't know how much I am going to be able to see what I am doing. Fun times in pregnancy land.
@mole: I am sorry!! Fingers crossed that you pass the 3 hour!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, I know!!! I shaved about a month ago when I could still kind of figure out what I'm doing, but I had to get Hubs to check and make sure I did an okay job. And I've told him that he's going to have to do it for me the next couple times since there's no chance I'll be able to see anything anymore.
@mole: Yikes!! Sorry you didn't pass!! Do you know how far off you were? Hopefully you just barely didn't pass and you'll do fine for the 3-hour test.
Guess there's going to be a few of us getting tested tomorrow. Hopefully we all pass!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: Thanks on the Glucose Test!
@Smurfette: Awww... don't feel about not wanting to paint. DH didn't really want to do it either, but we got my mom's handyman to do it for us. Granted, I still had to go back and touch up spots he missed and clean up paint splatters on our wood floors! argh! Neutrals are nice with pops of color! Our original was Yellow though, and I might have kept it if we had a boy (and just do grey accents). But I didn't want an Easter colored room for a girl...
@mole: Thanks. And you are pretty tall! Or at least taller than me! I'm not quite 5'4", so that dress would have been like ankle length! And what a STEAL you got it for!
Re: Feb. I'm kind of hoping and thinking February too. Only because DH and I were both born almost a month early.
@katiew92081: Today was the first time I had a stranger notice my belly! Actually was probably easy because I was stooped on the ground looking at something in the store and need to grab on something to hoist myself back up. lol, but still it counted!
@Adira: Once a week would be pretty good! hahah! No seriously, we are probably averaging once every other week, unless we really try hard to schedule it in. DH just works so late and I'm waaay too pooped by the time he gets home. And he's tired too. But 2 weeks is probably as long as I can go w/out.
@Smurfette: LOL! My GF did tell me about the shaving thing! She ended up letting her DH shave her all the time. I don't shave, I go for Brazilian waxes (tmi?), but I have noticed that it's harder to shave and reach around my body these days...
Okay, attaching a phone pic of the nursery painted with the rug I bought (before I was even preggers!) IDK how it will look with the white crib, but if not in the nursery, we'll use it in our room.
The walls still look darker IRL vs. the pic.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Ahhh, I love it!!!! That room is going to look soooooo awesome once you have all the furniture and stuff in there! What color did you go for for a crib? White? I can't wait to see the finished product!
Alright girls, I'm heading out soon for my glucose test! Good luck to everyone today!
honeydew / 7589 posts
@mole: @Adira: @shopaholic: Good luck on your glucose tests! They haven't scheduled mine yet, I'm assuming we'll talk about it at my next appointment which is on the 18th.
watermelon / 14206 posts
My glucose test isn't until the 31st. I'll be 29 weeks. Had to stretch it out a bit, since my next 4 week appointment landed on Christmas Eve, and me and my midwife agreed we'd go another week, lol. I can't believe I'll be going every 2 weeks after that! I think I love being pregnant around the holidays, cause it makes time go by so much faster!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira and @smurfette: I've been using a mirror to take care of things down there, lol. It's a little hand held one. However, I'm not doing any major landscaping, lol.
My hubby has been happy, cause I crave him more than any food, so all has been good there, lol. I've started leaking a little, though, so we just tend to stay away from my breasts.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@katiew92081: Yeah that's what I'm wondering, since I'll be 28 weeks on Christmas Eve, I assume they'll do it before then? I thought it was supposed to be done between 26-28? I could be wrong.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Love it!! I used to go and get waxed but I stopped, now I am afraid to go cause I heard it can hurt even more since we are more sensitive down there during pregnancy. Have you noticed that? I think that I am going to have to just go again cause I don't trust DH to shave nor me blindly!
bananas / 9973 posts
@mole: Oh! I forgot to ask you..so what does it mean for you if you fail the GT? Do you just re-take it or does it mean you have GD?
@Adira: Thanks sweetie! Yes, I'm doing a white crib and gold & black accents in the room! I didn't intend to, but the room is starting to have a Paris theme!
@Smurfette: I love waxing and my skin is too sensitive to shave down there. I'm not too hairy to begin with and my waxer said the hair grows slower as the pregnancy progresses, which seems to be true. Though I was growing hair on my legs thicker and darker in first tri. Also, I have a few random hairs sprouted around my belly button, but she waxes that too!
OK, here's a Bump Update pic! 1 day shy of 27 weeks, so I'm just calling it! And now I'm off to a late start for my GT!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: Cute bump! You make me look huge! How tall are you? I'm so short, so my bump only has out to go, lol. Maybe you have more room in there for the baby to tuck in?
@arden: When is your next appointment scheduled for? Doctors offices might be more willing to work on Christmas Eve. I'm in a birth center, which has a lower clientele, so we all have more flexibility of when appointments are done. We're even scheduling an evening appointment after the holidays, so that my husband and son can attend.
bananas / 9973 posts
@katiew92081: Thanks! IDK where she is hiding, usually low in my pelvis and behind my hips they say. I'm about 5' 3.5", used to be closer to 5'4", but I've been shrinking since my 30s. Weird thing is I have the shortest torso too! Like 2 or 3 finger widths only in between my ribcage & top of hip bone. She
Is always SO low though when I get my u/s. They said that's why I have such back pain.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@katiew92081: I'm at a birth center too. My next appointment is on Dec. 18, but my midwife didn't say anything about doing my screening then. Maybe they'll call me this week?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: You look fantastic!!!! I love the heels too! You make pregnancy look so chic!
@katiew92081: I tried using a mirror last time but I always shave in the shower and the mirror fogged up, so it was useless, haha.
I had my glucose test this morning! The drink wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, although it seemed to get worse with each gulp, haha. I think I was hungry enough to eat/drink anything. I'm hoping I hear back tonight or Monday about whether I passed or not.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: How much do you have to drink? I'm not sure I can handle it without vomiting (I don't even drink orange soda- fake fruity things disgust me).
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: I'm not sure the exact amount, but it was probably around 10-12 oz or so. It was in a bottle about half the size of a normal 20 oz drink. Mine tasted like fruit punch, which I think would have been my preferred flavor. I didn't have an option though, so I'm not sure what flavor you'll end up getting. I've heard there's an orange one too and I have no idea how it compares. You have about 5 minutes to drink the drink, which wasn't hard for me, but I'm used to sodas and sweet drinks. Hopefully you'll be able to handle it without throwing up!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@arden: I would just ask at your appointment, then. They'll probably bring it up.
For my glucose test we don't do the drink. I bring a sandwich of two slices of whole grain bread with either cheese, turkey or tuna (I do cheese)...I can put mayo or mustard on it...one meium sized apple or orange and exactly 6 ounces of apple or orange juice. I eat it there and then wait two hours to test my levels with a glucose meter. Love it.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: You look great!!
@Adira: Glad to know that it wasn't as bad as you thought. When do you get the results?
@katiew92081: I have never heard of just eating certain foods to take the test. Interesting.
honeydew / 7589 posts
@katiew92081: Oh awesome! Since I also have a midwife, maybe she will do a different (non sugar drink) version as well. I'll ask about it.
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: Thanks ladies!
I'm at the Glucose Test right now. So sad I have to sit in a room instead of walking arcross the street to browse Target! Bahaha!
I got a clear Lemon Lime flavored drink (they told they also had the orange, fruit punch, and grape). Downed the bottle in like 30 seconds. I just wish I could have water, but it's a no-no for 2hrs. Baby is kicking up a storm now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Your glucose test sounds awesome - I'm so jealous!
@Smurfette: I asked my OB about the results and she said that sometimes they get the results back the same day, but I'm not betting on that. I'm hoping I'll have them on Monday at the latest.
