@Smurfette: Hubs didn't say anything about paying for the tip already, so I suspect he didn't. Thanks for the 20% tip! That seems right to me, but I wasn't sure what was normal.

Wow, this thread gets busy! lol

@mole: cute! Did you find it difficult to judge your carrier it when trying it on with your bump in the way? I think I have to wait til after this kiddo is born to really try them on.

Since I'm only +3 from my pre-pregnancy weight, my body is gonna be all sorts of weird proportions I'm not used to, I think. I have no idea what size clothes to pack for the birth center. I think I'll just pack some stretchy yoga pants and a big comfy tshirt and go home looking super frumpy if I have to, lol.

@adira: Yay on the crib coming back! I really hope this one works good for you! I'm really impressed that they got it back to you so fast...where did you order it from?

I know I've said it before, but I'm SO excited about all the bright colored baby clothes in the stores! I love bright colors, and I really thought it would be difficult to find baby clothes that aren't pastel. I mean, I like pink, but I really love neon pink! And rainbow! yay!

My son and I went shopping today for stuff he needed and of course we ended up in the baby section. I bought a few pieces for when she's bigger. He gets so excited. He wanted to buy everything for her, lol. I did, too, but I had to be the grown up this time, and not go crazy shopping, lol. I told him we'll go back and get everything else after the shower. He's gonna be a good big brother.

@mole: @Arden: Ditto. I'm almost 5'4" and wore size 4 PP. I was thinking I'd probably get bigger to a 6 after pregnancy when I registered for it. But now I'm thinking I probably do need the XS. I've just never returned or exchanged anything from Amazon yet and being lazy about it so far.

@Adira: That was quick! Better have your parents just open the box and kind of check it over! Have a good time at your massage! I still have like $30 credit leftover from my GC, but I'm not sure that I want to use it for a pre-natal massage. We'll see if I suddenly feel really achy one day. Or I might save it for a post-delivery massage and make DH stay home with the baby at some point!

So we are headed back up to the mountains this weekend. It's my sister's b-day weekend and we're taking a couple of other friends with us. I know it's still 5 weeks till our due date, but I told DH we should install the car seat in his car "just in case." If it weren't for my sister's b-day I would stay home this weekend. I wouldn't want to deliver up there, but I can just imagine if we didn't bring the car seat, I'd go into labor. And if I do bring everything, baby won't come anytime soon. lol! The town doesn't even have ANY sort of store with baby stuff though, so I have to go prepared. I think the nearest Wal-Mart is like over 2 hrs. away. So tomorrow I get to figure out how to install a car seat!

@katiew92081: Oh there are SO MANY CUTE NEON stuff out right now! I totally agree! I couldn't help myself when I was doing some exchanges at Target, I picked up a couple more 1 piece romper/sleeper things, even though I seriously don't think we need anymore. Less laundry is what I'm telling myself!

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@shopaholic: I'm trying hard not to buy neon stuff for ME! I have no idea what size I will be, though...but once this baby is out, I'm sure I'm going crazy for clothes. That's saying a lot, too, cause like I said, I love the bright colors, and they have NEVER been in style (in my adult life). But now...OMG I want them all! My hubby will be happy, cause he's always telling me I need new clothes.

Yeah, I keep buying more. But, I see the sections of the closet that have a lot less pieces in their sizes, so I feel justified in buying more, lol. I don't usually want to even think about 24 months clothes, but I really wanna stock up, if it's all gonna so fantastic!

@shopaholic: have fun this weekend! I would totally be taking baby stuff just in case, too! How far of a drive is it for you? Are there a lot of winding roads? Be careful on those...even if you or husband know them really well, all the swaying back and forth will get really uncomfortable. I remember going to my ex's family reunion in the mountains a week before I had my son, and it was really uncomfortable, cause he wouldn't slow down. AND, we got lost, which made the trip even longer. Miserable day.

@katiew92081: I've been on a "want to shop for cute after-baby clothes for myself" kick for a few weeks now on & off! So much cute spring clothes! And I'm sick of wearing boots and having to bend over to put them on! lol! I'm loving the mix of pastels w/neons!

Thankfully the road to Mammoth is pretty straight and at a steady incline, so you don't even notice it. But it's about a 5- 5 1/2 hour drive (with all my bathroom breaks!) for us. I'm used to it so at least there's that.

@shopaholic: Have fun this weekend! I can't imagine being in the car for that long anymore. When did you doctor tell you that you can't travel any more?

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: We ordered it from Babies R Us! They told us 8-10 days to get here and it arrived in 2!!!

@shopaholic: Yep! I think they are going to open the box tonight and check it out and make sure it's not broken before they come over on Sunday with it!

  11. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: did they already return the other one?

  12. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Nope, not yet. Babies R Us said they had 30 days to return the old one before they charged them for the second one. So my parents were going to just wait until they got the new crib and then return the old one.

  13. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: wow, that's a pretty good policy! I've heard complaints lately about their return policies, but that's pretty awesome!

  14. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Have fun this weekend!!! And I hope installing the car seat is easy. And hopefully you don't go into labor while there!

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Yeah, they seemed really accommodating. My parents ordered the crib on-line, so I don't know if maybe their on-line service is different than the in-store one? We do have to ship the crib back - we can't return it to the store, but they gave us a return label so we don't have to pay for shipping. My parents just have to bring it to UPS (or have UPS pick it up).

Random question: Is there a back up plan for this board if something happened to HelloBee and we had to start subscribing/paying/etc? Some way we could keep going? Should we exchange emails or something or just agree to meet on another site to talk?

  17. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

    @adira: Wow, that's nice!

@naturallycathy: Good question! We can do a facebook group or something. Or we can pick some other site and all migrate that way.

  18. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@katiew92081: I'm hoping this gets resolved in some way that's best for everyone - some of the suggestions are really great but I'm not sure what it would take to pull them off. I just would hate to lose what I've basically been looking for since my first pregnancy - a support group of women. I didn't actively seek one out the first time around, though I should have, so it's my own fault but I would really hate to lose you guys or any of the other HB members. I value you all!

  19. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@naturallycathy: I've been on livejournal for years, but this site has a nicer feel to it. I've only discovered it this pregnancy. I totally agree...it's a nice place to have to give it up. If it's not crazy expensive, would consider paying for this site. It would really depend on price, though.

  20. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@katiew92081: I honestly thought LiveJournal was dead? Phased out, kind of like MySpace. I hadn't heard anything about either in so long I had assumed they'd just sorta... petered out of existence.

And I just asked DH if I had to pay a fee for HB if he would let me subscribe? Surprisingly, he said yes. (Have to ask, he's our only source of income.) He thinks it's been really good for me even though I only found it about a month ago. Of course, it would depend on the price, but it was sweet. He likes that I found HB and he wishes I had found it or a place like it the first time around.

  21. Dandelion

@naturallycathy: yeah its much quieter at lj. But their parenting communities are still pretty active.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

I really hope the Bees are able to find a method that works to give them the revenue they need without charging members to use the boards and blog - that would be depressing and I probably wouldn't be able to justify the cost to myself. Maybe we should have a backup plan in case that happens? I feel like I've gotten so close to the March ladies - I'd hate for us to just lose touch.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Oh! I forgot to mention - my parents opened up the crib box last night and looked at it and said it looked fine, so they'll be bringing it over on Sunday to put it together! I'm so excited to FINALLY be able to get furniture set up in the nursery!!!

@Adira: Great news that nothing is wrong with this one.

Had a doctor's appointment this morning. Nothing to report, baby's heart-rate was good. It wasn't with my normal doctor and she didn't even measure my belly. Next appointment is the 14th, and the first cervical exam and strep screening. Fun times!

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oooh, I have strep screening this Friday - I'll let you know how it goes. And they didn't mention doing a cervical exam, but I'm going to be almost 36 weeks, so you'd think they would, right?? Glad everything's going well with baby!

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I think every place is different, so they might or might not. The doctor told me that they do the strep screening by just taking a swab to test. I am assuming the swab is down there, so they might go ahead and do the cervical exam since you are going to have to take your clothes off anyway.

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, that's my understanding of the strep test as well. I guess I'll find out in a couple days! I'm just hoping that I FINALLY get to start having appointments more often - it'll have been 4 weeks since my last one and I certainly hope they don't make me go another 4 weeks, haha. But I kind of think I might not have one every week still... not sure.

  29. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette & @adora: had an early group b text cause of my risk of preferment Osborn. Yeah its a swab of your nether regions. My midwife just had me go into the bathroom and swab myself but I'm sure most obs do it themselves.

I'm declining cervical exams. They don't really tell anything and I don't like people looking down there for no reason.

  30. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adora: you haven't had bi weekly appointments? I have them until 36 weeks then its weekly until birth.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: No!! My office is so weird - my last appointment was at 32 weeks and now I have one at 36. I don't know why so long between. Maybe if they don't start scheduling me for weekly, I'll ask them about it. It seems so strange that I wouldn't go weekly, but I get the impression I might not!

  32. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Smurfette: she told me Jan. 28th, but when I saw the other OB during my visit yesterday and mentioned the trip, she just said to have fun. I figure it's just a couple of days off...
My visit was pretty uneventful as well. Since it was a different OB, she seemed concerned that I was measuring small and behind, but I told her I've been that way the whole pregnancy. Baby's heart rate was the slowest ever - 132 - but she said baby was probably sleeping. No doubt, I waited for almost 2 hrs! I could have fallen asleep there too!

My next appt. is the 12th, but she didn't tell me about any screenings or anything.

@Adira: Yay on the crib being in perfect condition! I would hope the BRU people double checked it before they sent it to you too!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: You had to wait two hours for your appointment??? Gah, I would've died! Although I always bring a book with me just in case, but still... unless it was super engaging, I'd be pretty bored after that long!

How far along will you be at your appointment at the 12th? I think they usually do the strep test between 35 and 37 weeks or so, so if you're not that far along, they might not do it until your next appointment.

  34. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: At my 36th week appointment they are supposed to be doing a blood draw and strep B swab. I don't think my birth center regularly does cervical checks then, but if they want to I'll be refusing it.
I start weekly appointments after that as well (currently bi-weekly, every since 28 weeks).

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Arden: Do you know what the blood draw is for? I definitely don't recall them mentioning anything about that happening for me at my last appointment!

  36. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

I think I'm the only one who has been avoiding appointments... I skipped my 32 week appointment (believe it or not, Henry was having tummy troubles but I hadn't planned on going anyways), went to my 34 week appointment, and just tried to reschedule my 36 week appointment to 37 weeks.

I guess I'm feeling a little jaded. I've been there, done that and recently, I'm not a fan of leaving my son with my MIL, so I've been dragging my feet on these appointments. I should look forward to them but I think I'm also having a problem with them because with them being this close together, it means that time is running out. I just want to spend that time with Henry and not worrying about this other baby!

  37. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Adira: At 34 weeks, they did a blood draw for me too. It was to do a last check for HIV. I don't know if that was why @Arden: had hers or not though.

  38. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: Yeah. I was NOT happy. Apparently my OB had a new patient with a heart condition and it took a really long time. That's why I got another Dr. and I don't usually complain, but I told her it was seriously ridiculous and all the patients in this office must not have a job. Byt he time I got out, the office had been closed for almost half an hour. Thankfully I had my iPhone and played Bejweled forever! lol!

I'll be 36 1/2 weeks at my next appt. After that I will see her every week. Although, I thought my OB said that about after this appointment.

  39. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: Two hours!! That is ridiculous! I would be so annoyed.
@Adira: I bet you start going every week after this next appointment.
@NaturallyCathy: I don't blame you for skipping appointments. I feel like today was a waste of time. I mean I saw the doctor for 5 mins.

  40. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

    @Adira: My paperwork says -
"At your 36 week visit we routinely test for the following:
    CBC - Complete Blood Count
    HIV
    Hepatitis B
    RPR - Syphilis
    Gonorrhea / Chlamydia
GBS - Group B Strep Culture
Antibody Screen (for Rh negative blood type only)
