@Smurfette: I'm with you, I'm going back to work at 12 weeks. The Phillips one seems decent - I have a black bag that it's in and I'll probably leave it mostly hooked up and just plug it in. I'm just hoping that it works well since it's not new! Guess I'll find out soon enough...
And yes! I will definitely post pics, even if they don't turn out as well as I'm hoping, haha.

@Smurfette: I ordered the Medela Advanced through the approved medical device provider by my insurance. Hope to receive it in about 2 weeks!

@Arden: yep my poor feet swell up at the end of every day. so i try to prop them up when i get home. I currently can only fit in two pairs of new shoes that are a size bigger than my usual size. I hope hope hope I can fit back into my old shoes after delivery. Sigh.
Funny story... my friend suggested that I prop up my legs when I get home to reduce the swelling. Another friend said, "but that's what got her in trouble in the first place!". (yes, my friends and I have an odd sense of humor).

@arden: My right foot is swollen. Kinda weird that it's only one foot? It's not a lot...I only notice cause I check out my feet every day. Luckily I live in flip flops anyways, so shoes won't be too big of a deal.

@cokiezombie: haha, your friends are funny!!!
So I checked the appointment schedule that my OB gave me when I first got pregnant and saw them at 9 weeks and apparently I never get weekly appointments...? At least, according to the schedule, after this 36 week appointment, my next one will be at 38 weeks, and then the following will be at 40 weeks. WTF is with that??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I would ask them about it. Although really I don't know that it is a big deal. My schedule says a cervical exam at 36, 39, and 40 weeks. So I am guessing the the 37 and 38 week appointment are going to be just just listening the heart-rate and measuring the belly. Granted I have no idea about any of this since I haven't done this before. I would just ask them tomorrow and if it is true, ask their reasoning for it.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: That's odd. But, I suppose the weekly ones don't matter for much other than peace of mind for the mother to be. Maybe you can ask to have weekly at that point anyways?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @katiew92081: Yeah, I'll definitely ask about it. It just seems weird because it seems like every other office does weekly, so I'm surprised mine doesn't! But maybe since I've had an easy, uneventful pregnancy (knock on wood), they don't feel the need to see me more often.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: Maybe with the platelet thing, they'll wake up, lol. Sounds a lot like my OB when I had my son. They had their way of doing stuff and didn't follow up or anything...like they're in some sort of auto pilot, lol.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Yeah, maybe once I point out my platelet issue, they'll want to see me more often. I kind of hope SOMEONE sees me more often just to monitor it, although maybe every other week is good enough? I don't know... my mom delivered a week early with my brother, so I'm not sure I'll go to 40 weeks, so I kind of would like to be seen weekly. Bleh.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: Demand it. You're paying them, so you get to have the control. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself and don't worry about being annoying or anything...you only have to deal with them for 4 more weeks. You have to deal with the outcome of your pregnancy for your whole life.

Do any of you have anything that's not exactly baby related on your registries?
Because of our lack of space, we're having to resign to using these storage drawers: http://www.target.com/p/sterilite-4-drawer-storage-cart-white/-/A-11861720 for the baby's stuff, until we move into a place where she gets her own room.
I have one already in our room, but I realized this morning that I don't have places for crib sheets and other storage items.
Do you think it's weird to put it on our registry?
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: I would definitely call and ask your OB's office 1) why they haven't been monitoring your platelet count, and 2) why you don't get weekly visits starting from 36 weeks? It seems like they just do the bare minimum and I wouldn't be happy with that if I were you. You are the patient and if they are slacking on meeting your needs, I would feel the need to speak up. If it were earlier in your pregnancy, I would just switch Dr./office completely.
bananas / 9973 posts
@katiew92081: No - I don't think it's weird. I don't know if anyone will buy it since it's not so baby-related, but people might realize your need for practical items and get you GCs!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: I'm doubting anyone will buy it. I was gonna just go ahead and buy it myself, but dh suggested I stick it on there and see what happens, first, lol.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: I don't think it is weird to have that on there at all. People put dressers and cribs so why not another storage solution?
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: Yeah, that's what I figured, too. And hey, we need it, it's for the baby, so it's on there, lol.

My ankle will not stop twisting today and it's making me nervous, especially when I have to carry Henry I'm seriously focusing on every single step and my ankle is -still- rolling. It just feels weak and weird.
Anyone else experience something similar?
watermelon / 14206 posts
@naturallycathy: That's really weird...maybe loose ligaments? Be really careful. I hope you don't have a lot of stairs to deal with.

We made our first step towards home ownership today. I called a Realtor to help us sniff stuff out. I actually called one yesterday, in a different company, but she was really condescending and didn't seem to take me seriously. Plus, we had already talked to a guy in that company who never called me back, even though he said he would...two strikes. So, this lady gets the job, lol. I like her way better. One of my pet peeves is people talking down to me, lol.
My foot is slightly swollen. Just my right. Not a lot, but enough for me to tell. Strange how it's only one foot...and not all day, just late in the day, so I don't think it's a blood clot.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@NaturallyCathy: that is really weird! Never heard of that before.
@katiew92081: So exciting!
I noticed tonight at the gym when I was putting on tennis shoes that my ankles are looking a little swollen I asked DH when I got home, he said that they didn't look swollen to him but wasn't it about that time for it. I said yes
Then I tried, I don't know why, to shave my lady parts and I can't see my parts anymore. Then my back is killing me. Rough night.
But on the plus side, walk through went great. All set for closing at 11 tomorrow morning!!!!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: How exciting! Closing tomorrow! YAY!!!
I declared today to be the last day I shave my legs until I have this baby. I did a horrible job and it was so uncomfortable to have to work around this belly.
Yep, we're at the worst part...but the good news is that the worst part is at the END!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@katiew92081: My mom said it was loose ligaments and when my husband got home, he commented on the fact that my feet look a little swollen. She suggested epsom salts and investing in a pair of over-the-ankle Converse or something to keep it from getting worse (I don't own a pair of boots).
Good luck on your house hunting! I'm glad you finally found someone you like - I know how hard it was for us to find someone we trusted to actually work -with- us, not -at- us. Worth the trouble though, especially since we're so close to getting this house!
@Smurfette: Fantastic news on the closing. I just got news today telling me that the house we're trying to get closed on had termite treatment started today. The house was built in the 1940s so there's some termite damage but no active termites - but they also couldn't see where the house had ever been treated. Because of our lender requiring it, the bank selling the property is having it treated so we can continue with our loan! Tomorrow'll be too cold so they'll finish up Monday.
In unrelated news, today's Henry's first birthday. I've been a mother for a year! [Translation: I survived!] As a treat, my husband took me out to dinner - with Henry of course! It was really great, a quiet little family celebration. His birthday party is the Saturday after this weekend so the rest of the family gets to celebrate then!

My tabby cat won't leave me alone. Its gotten more intense lately. She got like this when I was pregnant with my son too. She's by me all day as much as she can. Its cute. I don't think my other cat has a clue. I've had the tabby for almost 8 years though so our bond is pretty good
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@NaturallyCathy: Happy Birthday to Henry!! Hope he has a blast at his party this weekend.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@aprk: @Smurfette: @katiew92081: Thanks Last night, DH took us out to eat. It was kinda great. I doubt we'll do that for every birthday but I hope for at least the first few birthdays I get recognition for giving birth! It's not easy!
And in other news, I stepped out of bed last night to take care of Henry - it was just a little after two, not unusual for feeding time - and as soon as I got to the doorway of my bedroom, my ankle twisted. And I fell. Hard. It hurt like the dickens and I scared DH because it was dark and he couldn't tell how I'd fallen or anything. I'm fine, it's just I was so tired, I didn't think about my weak ankle! I was just trying to get to Henry to sooth and change him.
I think we're going to buy me some Converse this weekend!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@NaturallyCathy: Be careful!!! Maybe you should buy a ankle brace to give you some more support for the next month.
Ladies, one month and we should start seeing some babies!!!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@Smurfette: My mom suggested an ACE bandage and I just remembered that. I think I'm going to have to ransack my bathroom closet to see if I can find one! Even with shoes on, I nearly fell last night at supper when Henry wouldn't stay in the high chair at the restaurant any longer. DH had already taken him around once so I could have half the dessert, then we switched so he could have half. Barely took two steps away from the table with Henry when it twisted. Luckily I caught myself. But the shoes I was wearing weren't over the ankle or supportive really.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@NaturallyCathy: And ace bandage is a good idea! Just something for more support! The last thing you want to do now is fall and hurt yourself, your son, or your baby!!!
So an update on me! I had my OB appointment this morning and I didn't yell at them because I was in a good mood, haha. They're so lucky. Apparently they normally do do a CBC (which checks your platelet count) at your 28 week GD test, but for some reason they didn't do it with me (I guess because they suck), but I had it done today! I'm going to call on Monday to get the results and make sure they send them to my hematologist.
They also don't do cervical checks yet or weekly appointments, but she said if I wanted to come in sooner than two weeks, I could. I think I'm just going to go ahead and wait until the 38 week appointment unless something changes between now and then. And then I'll insist on weekly. She did check the baby's position though and his head is nice and low in my pelvis, so he's getting in position to be born! Yay!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@Adira: I'm trying to be careful I promise I am. And I wish my doctors would leave me alone until 38 weeks... I tried postponing my appointment and the nurse had a fit. She wouldn't even let me postpone my 36 week appointment by more than a few days. No way were they waiting until I was 37 weeks along to see me! The insanity! So I'll go and get it over with. Hopefully my mom will be able to watch Henry for me because I'm not letting my MIL watch him every single time now that they're going to insist on weekly appointment.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@NaturallyCathy: haha, it's funny how we have totally opposite problems! You want to go less often and I want to go more! We clearly need to swap OBs! I hope your mom is able to watch Henry for you so you don't have to deal with your MIL anymore than you have to!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@naturallycathy: oh no! I hope the ankle thing doesn't last too long for you!
@adira: Lucky them that you were in a nice mood, haha. Glad they're coming around for you. Cervical checks don't do much for you anyways, except increase the chance for infections, so the less the better.
@smurfette: I was thinking that about babies on this board...only 3 weeks until I'm considered term! And many of you have even less time! It's so exciting!
I'm hitting a wall (not literally). My feet are starting to swell, I can't wear my wedding rings, I'm hungry but I'm nauseated, I can't breathe and the braxton hicks are ramping up. UGH. 3 more weeks and she's considered term. Then I'll be sweet talking her everyday to encourage her out, lol.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: hope your levels are good!! Keep us posted. Glad that he is in position already.
We own a house!!! Now to go spend even more money on washer & dryer, tv's, mattress and bedroom furniture for us.

@smurfette: YAY! So exciting!!! The shopping the the little stuff (besides the fact that it costs a ton of money) is the most fun part for me. When are you going to be moving into it?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Woohoo!!!!! Congratulations!!!! That's HUGE!!!! And yes, furnishing a new house is always so expensive! Good thing you're doing it right before you have a baby.

@katiew92081: We are moving next Sat, 9th. Taking this weekend to hang blinds, my Mom is going to paint the nursery, and other misc items.
