Oh my gosh, girls, I got a Belly Band over the weekend and it is HEAVEN to be wearing it today!!! The thought of trying to button up my pants this morning was just unbearable and the Belly Band is soooooo comfortable!!! So happy to have purchased this!

Also, it's now two weeks until my ultrasound on the 27th, and I feel like I'm in the worst TWW of my life!!! I'm sooooooo nervous that I've had a missed miscarriage and there will be no baby on the 27th. And I'm super nervous because we're telling four of our friends on Friday that I'm pregnant, so I'm worried we're just jinxing ourselves. Gahhh!!!

@Adira: I am so scared of that too. We told DH immediate family and some close friends this weekend. So I totally feel like we are jinxing ourselves. I have to wait till Sept 7th for an ultrasound. We are going on vacation next week, so that will be a nice distraction. I have the belly band but I haven't broken it out yet, but I think that I am going to have too this week with pants. Everything is feeling tight on me Glad that you like it!

@Smurfette: I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!!! I THINK missed miscarriages are fairly rare, but I feel like they occur to so many Hellobee Mamas, so I'm so worried!!! We haven't told any of our family yet - just my two best friends. We're telling some more friends this weekend because we're SUPPOSED to go white water rafting, so I have to explain why I can't go. But I'm so nervous we're going to tell them and then have to untell them a week later!

Oh my gosh, the bloating was the WORST. The Belly Band is sooooooo nice. My pants were sooooo uncomfortable and it really made me look terrible. I definitely feel so much more comfortable now.

@savanarunner: You have an ultrasound today, right? I hope it goes well!!!

@brownsquirrel: How are you doing? I know you were waiting to see what your HCG levels did - any news? *hug*

@adira: we're ok, hcg is dropping. My readings were 28000 Wednesday and 26000 Friday. Still waiting on today's level. Thanks for checking in on me, y'all are the best

@brownsquirrel: I'm so sorry to hear your levels are dropping, but I guess that's what you were expecting right? Ugh, miscarriages suck! *hug*

@adira. Yeah, its kinda what we expected. But it still isn't any fun

@brownsquirrel: (((((hugs))))) I wish there was something that I could say to make it better for you

@Adira: I finally put on shorts for the first time in ages yesterday (I've been living in dresses) and they were SO snug. Looks like I'll be getting some bigger clothes or some Belly Bands soon too. Uggghhhhh. I'm terrified of the impending fall/winter season when I can't wear dresses every day!!! Thank goodness for leggings! LOL!

ETA - I go to meet my midwife this afternoon, woohoo!

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @brownsquirrel: Blah, I'm so sorry.

@Mrs. Mousie: Oh my gosh, I bet! The bloating at this stage is sooooooo bad! Definitely try the Belly Bands - they're great! Plus you can wear them postpartum too. At least, that's what I've heard. When I'm at home, I just wear sweat pants, but for work, I'm always in slacks and they were getting sooooo uncomfortable. The Belly Band is such a relief to wear!

@brownsquirrel: I am so sorry to hear that the mc is actually happening.

@Mrs. Mousie: Um I totally had to do the hair tie trick in my shorts yesterday I am so looking forward to vacation next week, just not the bathing suit part. I feel so fat and bloated. Let us know how the meeting with the midwife goes, exciting!

@Adira: I have the same fear. AND I'm still wearing my normal jeans, which in theory is good but bad since it seems like everyone else is getting a bump! Why don't I have one? One more week until my 12 week ultrasound; I am anxious to see what's happening inside.

  13. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Smurfette: We went swimming last weekend at a neighbour's and I am SO glad it was just me, DH and my stepson. I was NOT happy with the bathing suit action. My tankini top kept riding up!!! Ugh!!! I know a girl who's due in December and she has the PERFECT bump, she was packing to go to the beach and just put this teeny tiny bikini top in her bag and was "ready to go". I wish!!!!!!!!!!!!! She looks amazing, I'm so jealous!!!!!

  14. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@tororojo: Well, I CAN wear my jeans just fine - they're more low rise than my slacks, so they don't bother me. My slacks come up to my belly-button, so were causing me some issues. Plus maybe you haven't been eating like a cow like I have. I was already overweight to begin with, so I suspect that is part of my problem. I'm soooooo jealous you have your 12 week ultrasound next week!!! I hope everything goes smoothly!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: Luckily we will be in St Thomas so we won't be with anyone we know. I already warned DH that I was going to just let it hang out instead of sucking it on. We went to a part on Sat night, and a friend we haven't seen in awhile was there. They never announced it on FB, so we didn't know ahead that she was pregnant. Then she said she was 24 weeks, I was totally shocked. I thought maybe 16 weeks. I told DH that he better not expect me to look that good at 24 weeks. He told me that I will look better. Sweet, but no way honey

So i think I had my first real wave of morning sickness this am! I was on my way out of the house, smelled something funny outside, gagged a bit and then lost my breakfast. Felt pretty gross all the way to work, but then ate a plain bagel and felt much better. Yikes... not sure I want to deal with that every morning!

Also- how idd you ladies pick your OB? After coming from and RE , he gave me some reccomendations, but I feel like I am just picking someone off a list. How did you research and find one?

  17. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@cheert16: Sorry the MS got you! I have used my OB/GYN for years since I just went for my annual every year. I just picked one at the time that the insurance covered and was near my apartment at the time. It has worked out well cause I really like my doctor and I have two friends that I never knew went there too, and loved them through out their pregnancies.

  18. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@cheert16: Yikes! Sorry about your breakfast!!!

I don't think I can really help you. I've been going to the same practice for years, so I just switched to the OB/GYN department when I found out I was pregnant. My primary care physician is still in the family medicine department, so I don't see her at all. Our OB/GYN department has 9 nurse midwives and 9 physicians, so I've really just been seeing whoever's available. Ideally, I'd like to meet them all, since I'm just going to get whoever's on-call when I go into labor.

    nectarine / 2631 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: I go to a practice that has a bunch of specialities so they just refered me to thier OB dept. I just called and they said they are on a rotating schedule- so basically I can see whoever, and they all work together. My RE recommended 2 drs- so i just picked one. Hopefully I like him! My next appt. is with a midwife next Thurs and then 3 weeks later with the Dr.

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: My office starts rotating you after 20+ weeks, so you meet all the doctors at some point in case they are the ones on call when you are in labor. You should ask about it.

  21. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

I googled my OB a few years ago and found nothing but stellar reviews on her, plus her office is near where I work. So i've just been using her since, and been nothing but ultra thrilled with her office. Since then, I've met a few women who have used that office and they all have lovely things to say about her.

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I don't believe my office rotates doctors. I was told that some women just find someone they like and schedule all their appointments with that one person, while others try to meet as many as possible and schedule their appointments with someone new each time.

So far, I just schedule my appointments for when is good for me and whoever's available then is who I see!

  23. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@cheert16: That sucks about the morning sickness. If it starts to get bad, don't be afraid to get medicine! I broke down and started Zofran at 10 weeks (10 and 11 have been the worst thus far) and it has helped me get through work lately. As for the OB, I asked a friend who gave birth at my desired hospital for recommendations. Google is nice also; sometimes you'll find links to local message boards where people talk about their OBs.

How far along is everyone and how are you feeling? I know we've all mentioned it at some point but this thread is getting long!

I am 11 weeks, 4 days, and still feeling nauseous and yuck. I have had almost no social interaction for the past month and I'm so over it! The evenings are the worst, which has kept me from doing pretty much anything outside of work. No bump yet! I quit taking weekly pictures and have maybe gained a couple of pounds, but it fluctuates.

  24. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

I'm 11 weeks on the dot today and feel nauseous only if I don't eat often enough. I try to eat every 3 hours and that definitely helps. I don't think I have a bump yet, but I'm definitely wicked bloated, so I'm starting to use a Belly Band to avoid buttoning my pants. I've gained 1 lb since my BFP, though I look like I've gained 10!

I hung out with a couple "friends" over the weekend, and when I didn't have any wine, one of them started speculating that I was pregnant and "joked" about pushing me down the stairs. I'm not looking forward to hanging out with these "friends" again.

  25. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Adira: Hmm well, I guess pushing someone down the stairs is a great way to figure out if she's pregnant? -scratches head- Yeah, that's weird.

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@tororojo: He's super anti-baby, so he's "joking" about trying to give me a miscarriage, which I don't find funny at all.

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

I am 9w1d. I am feeling fine as long as I keep something in my stomach. I have to eat crackers before I get out of bed, otherwise mornings are rough. I am really hungry every morning, esp when at work, then the afternoon's I don't want to eat but I make myself so I don't feel sick.

I weighed myself last week and I think it said 1lb, which I was sad about. I am so nervous about gaining to much weight. I look at food and can gain weight. Luckily I am losing fruit right so that is helping. And I still feel good to hit the gym 3-4 nights a week.

We are taking my bump picture every Sunday, although it just looks like I ate like 5 burritos for dinner the night before. I can't wait for it to be a baby bump and not just bloat.

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping? I can't sleep good at night at all. Outside of getting up to pee 3 or 4 times, I just feel like I toss and turn all night. Which is making me even more exhausted.

@tororojo: Sorry you are sick at nights. I would hate to be stuck at home every night.

@Adira: That sucks! Who says something like that??

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, I don't know!!! Especially if they really DO think I'm pregnant, why would you say it??? I think I maybe wouldn't be so offended if I really wasn't pregnant, but I AM, and I'm already SCARED TO DEATH of a miscarriage, so joking about it just seems cruel!

OMG, you've been going to the gym??? I'm so jealous, haha. I haven't been since I was 5 weeks! Good for you!!!

  29. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Adira: Yeah, that's not funny at all. Someday when you're filled with pregnancy hormones and you punch him in the mouth after a stupid comment, maybe he'll learn!

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@tororojo: hahahaha, I totally wanted to!!! But then they would've known I actually WAS pregnant and I didn't want to spill the beans to them yet!

  31. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Adira: Yeah, you might have to wait. I'm sure you'll get the opportunity again!

@Smurfette: I don't think 1 lb. is too much for being 9 weeks in! Everything I've read said to aim for 3-5 lbs. during the first trimester, so you're probably right on track. Especially if you're going to the gym; I'm really impressed as I have done 0 physical activity since week 5 (with the exception of cleaning the house this weekend, which I counted as exercise).

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@tororojo: Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been exercising!

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: @tororojo: I have noticed that the nights I go to the gym, I sleep a lot better. So even though after work all I want to do is go home and sleep. It also does give me more energy to clean and laundry when I do get home. I don't do as much as I use to but at least it is something. The OB nurse told me to not get my heart-rate over 140 and not to lift over 35lbs. I bought a heart-rate monitor watch so that helps too.

  34. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: Even knowing that it would help me sleep better, I can't imagine working out right now. Of course, I don't have a gym membership and generally when DH and I exercise, it entails a walk around our really steep and hilly neighborhood. I might be okay with that if it weren't 100+ degrees everyday...maybe in October I'll try it! I did make a conscious effort to stay off the couch this weekend and move around the house, so even though that's not great, I figure it's better than just sitting.

Hi all. Went for ultrasound today and got mixed news. Baby is ther with a heartbeat but measuring 10 days behind. I get blood drawn again Wednesday to see if my hcg levels are progressing appropriately and have another ultrasound next tuesday. Fingers crossed until then

@Smurfette: My sleeping has been all over the map. I was having crazy insomnia last week, but this week I'm back to normal, but waking up to pee twice a night (which I'll take over no sleep at all). I found sleeping on the couch really helps, I think it's the back support from the cushions behind me? I'll usually give up and hit the couch about 1am, and go back to bed at 7 where I can sleep a couple more hours. Another reason I'm so thankful to work from home!!

@Adira: With friends like that who needs enemies?! Jeez what's wrong with that guy?!

@savanarunner: Sending lots of happy thoughts your way! Do you have longer cycles? My original due date was bumped 6 days after my dating ultrasound and my midwife said today she may change it again since it's not an exact science. I hope your HCG levels and next U/S bring you happy news!

My meeting with the midwife went really well. She's REALLY nice and I felt really comfortable with her. There are 3 midwives in the group, so we'll get a chance to meet with all of them leading up to the birth. They also have a senior student who's observing so she's going to be around occasionally it sounds like (she asked my permission about this). Our next appointment is in 4 weeks and DH is going to come with me. We'll get to hear the heartbeat, she said it was likely too early to listen to it this visit because the baby is still behind my pelvic bones, but that by 14 weeks we'll definitely get to hear it! I'm so looking forward to it! It was a half hour appointment and it went by SO fast!!!

@savanarunner: Oh yikes, that's scary! Was this your first ultrasound? Is it possible you just ovulated later than you thought? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

ugh my 'fat' pants already are too tight, so i've been just wearing tights with long shirts or dresses. i dont know how long i can keep this up for and still maintain a secret (im 8 weeks today). i feel like i'm gaining alot of weight even though im just eating the same amount as normal. the only thing i have to be grateful for is that i don't have morning sickness (fingers crossed). i hope to start hitting the gym again and doing the elliptical (doctor said no running anymore).

@savanarunner: sending you positive thoughts!! when I went in for my first u/s..dr. thought i was 6 weeks and didn't see anything. 2 weeks later, there was my little bean with a heartbeat measuring at 6 weeks. I have long cycles (30 - 34 days) and so I ovulated later than the dr. thought. Good luck!!
