@adira: He's a brave man! I don't think dh would even want to do it. I think he's just letting it go until I can fix things myself down there, lol

Told my midwife via text about the "silent contractions" as she called them, and she had already gotten the OB report about it. She said, "well, if this is it, then it's it! But if it's not, we'll wait, too." lol

@katiew92081: haha, I don't think my husband really WANTED to help me out, but I insisted, so he was a good sport. But it was clear he didn't really know what he was doing, which is why it took so long, haha. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for others!
Gahhh!!! I'm so excited for you!!!! You're so close now!!!

@Adira: Haha, yes I shaved my thighs. I probably didn't need to since the hair there is so fine and light and downy, but I wanted them all smooth.
DH offered to shave the lady bits, but I'm so scared he'll cut me or something. Maybe I'll just have him clean up the edges to make it neater. I'm too scared to get waxed!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: I was too scared to get a wax too, although half way through the shaving, Hubs was all "You should've just gotten a wax." But I've heard you're more sensitive down there while pregnant and I've never gotten a wax before, so I was afraid to do it now!
I bet your husband would be super careful if you let him do it. Mine was REALLY cautious, which made it take forever, but he definitely didn't cut me. And I think I was pretty good at giving instructions on how to do it, though he was SLOW. The hardest part was just when he was doing one side or the other and he'd be like "prop your leg over here and just your hips forward!" and I'd have to stand like that for 5-10 minutes because he was taking his sweet time getting things done! I was sore from all the positions he put me in and made me hold, hahaha.

@Arden: @Adira: Literally my DH and I were just talking about this!! He told me he would help me with my lady parts before the baby is born if my stomach gets any bigger (which it will!!) But i have been doing an OK job of keeping it trimmed and looking ok- and I am so scared that he will start rushing or talking to me or something and forget what he is doing and cut something important off! I have been keeping up with my legs cuz I wear capri's to work to teach in- so at least my legs arent too bad!

@katiew92081: Ahhh-cant believe you were having contractions and didnt even know!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: @Arden: LOL - that line made me die a little, hahaha!!! Sooooo glad Hubs didn't get distracted when he was doing me and cut anything important off!!!!

@cheert16: haha, cut something off.
I have gotten waxed before, but haven't gone since 10 weeks, when I just got a bikini wax before our St Thomas trip. I didn't think that was more sensitive but it still hurts but I think I am going to have to go. I don't want the nurses talking about me and being hairy

I had my work shower. Some people brought gifts, mostly outfits, got the changing table cover, some hangers (which I am going to return since we have plenty), bath toys, book. But like 25 people gave money and two ladies went shopping, we got the pack n play, activity saucer, swing, three packs of bottles, and some other little things. I still can't believe that we got that much stuff.
Going to return stuff this weekend, so we should have enough gift cards to buy everything else we need. And still have gift cards left for diapers. Score!

@smurfette: Wow, sounds great! At this point, I think I would prefer money so I can get the things I want the most, lol. Sounds like everyone was really generous!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: I know, I was shocked! very nice of them. I feel bad returning two of the big items, but I think the hand-me downs will work just as well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: That is soooooo awesome that you got so many items at your shower!! Was there cake??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: There was cake. I just finished my piece. I was still full from lunch (and I only had a sandwich) so I saved my piece. But I made sure to get an end piece with more icing.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: Hey, I would do the same thing...I mean, you can return the new stuff way easier than the hand me down stuff and get some credit for some stuff you really need!
@adira: lol on the cake! You've got me craving ice cream cake so bad!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: haha, now I'm craving ice cream cake and I just had some yesterday (and I just ate a brownie)! Cake is so delicious...
@Smurfette: Only one piece?? The guys made me have two - one for me and one for the baby. Although "made" is a strong word - they encouraged me to have two and I didn't complain when someone handed me my second piece!

@Adira: I just can't much at all these last couple days. Hopefully that will help the scale next week, cause this week it wasn't pretty. But I am going to blame most of it on water weight.

@Smurfette: I feel ya! My appt 2 weeks ago was not pretty when I stepped on the scale. Fast forward to today's appt and it was the same..so I'm blaming water weight.

@Smurfette: @cokiezombie: me too! 5 pounds in the last two weeks and I'm starting to look puffy ...

I put together the Rock n Play tonight. I tried to put the Bouncer together, but I think that I was doing it wrong, so I quit and going to have DH do it tomorrow night. But I currently have both in the washer.
We got the rug for her room from Joss & Main today. Things are starting to get real over here!!

@Smurfette: Awesome! I'm glad you had a great shower!
I put together the RnP and the stroller but I haven't attempted the swing yet. I'll get to it soon...
So, I had my appointment! No ultrasound. The midwife felt around and said "Why did the other midwife want an ultrasound? This baby is most definitely head down. If it was breech, it's turned back since then. I can do one if you want, but there's no question in my mind about the position." So I said ok, nevermind, I trust you! I felt it to and it really did feel head down, so I'm not worried.
The scale... ugh. I'm now up 32 pounds from pre-preg weight. It could be worse, but I'm not thrilled. I was aiming to cap it at 25-30, but I think it'll be more like 35-40. Oh well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Sounds like you were productive!!! Nice job putting the Rock n Play together!
@Arden: Glad to hear baby's head is down and everything's looking good!!! And I feel you about the weight gain - I was up 37 lbs at my last appointment and I was supposed to cap it at 25 lbs. Not looking forward to seeing the scale today.

So ds has a rash going on, so we're headed to his doctor's office this morning. I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. I really think it's eczema or dry skin, but since he just finished a round of augmentin, and the rash started earlier this week, I need to make sure it's not an allergic reaction to the antibiotics.
Life was so much easier before he started kindergarten!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Arden: Yay, for heads down. I hear you on the weight gain. My goal was 35lbs, and then 40lbs and now it looks like I am going to go over that
@katiew92081: I hope it turns out that it is just dry skin and not an allergic reaction. And yes, it does seem that it is always something lately. I feel like we can't catch a break lately.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Oh bummer!!! I hope it's nothing too serious and easily treatable!
@Smurfette: I'm with you - I suspect I might be around 40+ today. It seems like these last few weeks, I've been gaining like crazy. I just can't stop eating!!!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: and @adira: I can't even call the office until 8:30...it's the one thing I just don't like about this office. Otherwise they're great...we don't wait long in the waiting room, and they're sooo friendly and have never pushed any old school ideas on me with ds (no flu shots here!). But, I wish they would at least start answering the phone at 8! When he's got an ear ache I have to listen to him gripe all morning, lol.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Oh boo, that's kind of annoying! My office doesn't open until 8:00 either (or maybe it's later, I don't know), but they always have someone there to answer the phones and they have an on-call nurse at all times, so at least I can usually talk to someone! I hope you're able to get in soon for his rash!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: Well, they couldn't get him i until 12:10. At least they got him in, I suppose! We just hate waiting around here, lol.

OK, I'm officially going to get EVERYTHING done this week so I can chill out in March until baby arrives.
Off to the store for a final gallon of TRULY white paint and some storage totes.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@arden: Well, you got 6 days! lol...I hope you get everything done. Although, I thought I was done, and still feel like maybe I need to do something. I think it's just part of the end game, though, lol

@Adira: Yes dear, I'm still here - there were such promising BH contractions last night before Gordon got home that I actually asked him to come straight home. Was having pressure and pain that I thought for sure meant that it was finally happening but nothing. Then last night in the middle of the night I got up to go to the bathroom and thought I heard that 'pop' everyone else had described for their water breaking? Also no such luck. Guess it's just these old bones protesting.
On the good side, if it does come this weekend, it'll be better for most involved - mom and dad won't have to take off work, can easily watch Henry, etc. That and Gordon wouldn't miss any work either but instead, get the whole week off (that's as much of a maternity leave as he gets, a week). So maybe it's for the best. Thinking positive. Going to get out today since the weather's nice to see if we can get this ball rolling by walking as suggested by @Smurfette:

@katiew92081: So you've finally come to terms with March being so close? I have and I haven't. I want the baby but I want March... but I want the baby!

I just got a bikini wax at 34 weeks. it wasn't so bad at all! I can't see a THING down there...the aesthetician was like, "you have...a lot going on" haha. And my last one was a month or 5 weeks before this one! I would rather pay someone to do that than subject DH to it
