@Mae: Congratulations!!! She's beautiful! I hope you are recovering well from your c-section. I will be in your shoes tomorrow!

All these babies are making me so excited/anxious for tomorrow! I'm wrapping up all my odds and ends at work today and I'm SO ready to be done! I can't believe my little one will be here tomorrow!!!

So much beautiful news on this board!!!

Congrats and love and wishes for swift recovery and glorious bonding to @TwoDogHouse: @Glitter: @GingerBlonde: @CoopersMama: @Mae: @Tarabonno: @MamaSig: @MrsHoneyBear: @Smar11: All of your stories and photos are so inspiring and beautiful. Every baby and birth really has its own path!

@JuneBugMama: @MrsOG: Thinking of you two!
And @Caity713: Same to you tomorrow!

@Beebug: I'm still with you hanging in post due date! You're not the only one whose baby is still inside! Had a solid membrane sweeping yesterday and will be trying all sorts of old wive's tales this week. I also laughed at your mid-night raisin bran. I've been so hungry in the middle of the night the last few days! I had chicken salad at 2:30am today! Is that a sign of impending labor?

@WhoDat: you still have time to "graduate" on time!

@Cookie_Dough: hope the appointment goes well and that you take off your pants at the right time!

I think that sort of catches me up?
Can't believe we've all made it to this part of the journey from our first introductions in the Fall. And somehow I still can't believe we (DH and I) will be crossing over to the baby-holding side soon!

Hey everyone, for those of you who aren't on fb here is Jace Durgan. I will tell the whole story later but he was born yesterday 5/12 he was no where ben close to as big as they said he would be, coming in at 9 pound 9oz and 21" long

We held off all other visitors so J1 could meet him first. Then slowly invited in other family. We are taking it easy today too.

Thinking of everyone who's due date is here and still waiting. I had my 39 week appointment today and still no progress so I feel like I will definitely be overdue too.

@Beebug: I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that recovery has gone pretty well. Incision has healed well and I'm not having much pain down there from the vag delivery. Still bleeding a lot and having major GI issues. I can't tolerate eating anything without causing stomach upset! I'm on stool softeners, but I go back and forth between diarrhea and constipation. Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to give birth all over again because I get such awful cramps after eating, ugh.

Morning all! Wanted to pop in to give some more info while Fiona naps on me (love !). I'll prob do a birth story later but some info now for you all since-- omg c section lol

So I ended up having to be induced immediately Monday morning because at my fluid ultrasound my bp was sky high. It had been normal my whole pregnancy and they were convinced it was pre-e. I tried telling them about my job loss and resulting stressful weekend and they said ultimately at over 41 wks it didn't matter WHY the bp was high , I wasn't leaving without a baby. (And labs came back fine--- no pre-e as I suspected).

So we started the induction at 1030am and I progressed REALLY well on the meds. I did get an epi somewhat early bc once my water broke back labor hit me like a sledge hammer for 60+ seconds every 2 minutes and they thought I still had. 12 hrs to go. Epi was great and I continued to progress faster than expected, by 1030 pm I was 8cm and they thought I'd have her by midnight. But when they checked me at 1130 the front of my cervix had started to swell closed and I was back at a. 7. They said baby was not positioned well and was hitting cervix off center.

We tried repositioning her and me for another 4 hrs but by 330am I had a fever and lo's heart rate was not loving contractions and I was still swelling closed so it was decided to opt for an immediate c section.

Section was not that bad, just weird. Fiona is amazzzzing. We love her so much. Everyone keeps commenting on how crazy alert she is, and the nurses say she makes way more eye contact than most. I think she's just checking out the world breast feeding is hard but we are working on it. Sleep is harder but we are taking shifts lol. So,,. That'd the update from here!!

Love to all the new mamas and babies this week has seen, and luck to all of you still waiting!!

@Mae: gosh that pic is too sweet. G is nestled in my chest too... Love it. You never know what's gonna happen on delivery day.. I'm just happy you both are doing well now and were without infection or other serious complication.

@Beebug: man that stomach isn't giving you a break huh. Come on baby boy, make your arrival and give mommy an ease!

So I was just to smitten with my son to post yesterday but we welcomes Michael Patrick Jr to the world at 1:35 in the afternoon after a perfect induction and easy delivery. I couldn't have asked for things to go smoother. My body took to the cervidil and contractions got strong through the night - at one point to strong and I was throwing up and shaking and that's when I got the epidural at about 4 am. I progressed easily from there and when he was ready I pushed for about 15 minutes and then there is was - all 8.6 lbs and 22 inches!! I can't believe he's so big. Everything about him is perfect and I have never been more in love. Thank you all for the thoughts and congrats to the other new mamas!!!

@Glitter: thank you! How's bf going for you? I know you said it was a rough start.

@Mae: bf'ing has improved. Lanolin by Lansinoh is a miracle worker. It healed up my scabby nipples really quick so latching is less painful now. Still a bit painful for the first ten seconds or so, then it becomes OK. I have a ton of milk now! On day 1-2 he wasn't latching and i could barely squeeze out a drop of colostrum but now there r ants on our bathroom floor because once the bra and breast pads r off, I leak everywhere. Started pumping, afraid to pump too much and have oversupply but unless I pump I'm engorged. Not gonna complain because I'm happy he's getting what he needs. If your milk hasn't come in yet don't worry. Mine came in around day 3 and supply steadily increased. Is Fiona latching? Sorry if my post is jumpy. I'm feeling a little off today from lack of sleep and unexplained itchy rash that has decided to take residence all over my legs and I'm using my phone to update because if I take G off my chest, he will bawl for dear life.

Quick update - baby boy has jaundice so he is under the lights and I'm missing out on so many baby snuggles. But he is getting better. He was nursing pretty well - way better than big bro ever did. But we are supplementing to help with the jaundice. I'm ok with that. I just want him better. Plus, I have low expectations with bf and I'm just glad he seems to be catching on quickly.

    Eeee great updates ladies!!!

    @mrsog: Congrats Momma!!

Loving the updates! It is so awesome to read and remember "oh yeah, that's coming" (like reading about @Glitter: 's sore nips and lanolin) another nipple cream I alternated between was this one: https://well.ca/products/earth-mama-angel-baby-natural_26789.html

I stuck with the Lansinoh when things were really bad (and always when I went in the shower) and the Earth mama stuff for normal day to day use!!

I'm exhausted already, massage at one, doc appt at 3. Really thinking about when to pick induction date. DH and I dtd around 5am this am after an hour of me awake, I was bored!! Had some RRL tea this am, too....maybe some more here shortly.

I just got in from getting groceries for freezer meals, but now that I have sat down....that's not happening, lol.

    Hey mamas and mamas-to-be,

So I very likely missed it in the mix of everything- but how do I get into the Top Secret facebook group?

@beebug- you are a champ! I am impressed you could even make it to the grocery store. i also love the earth angels nipple cream.

@mamasig- I hope baby gets to snuggle soon. I was worried too about bf because of c-section, but it has been OK.

@junebugmama- you had me holding my breath imagining the 11 pound baby. Glad you followed your intuition, and was able to make your choice.

It is so good seeing all the babies.

Amelia and I are getting settled in. Her theme song is sleep all day, party all night. We are working on the night/day confusion.

Recovery from the C-Section ended up being smoother than everyone thought. My doula came in for a post partum visit and said she has never seen anyone bounce back and have as much energy as I have, but then told me to make sure I still take it slow, and I am. I am almost completely off the pain meds.

We had so many challenges with the swaddling at night. During the day, she sleeps fine, but at night she has to be swaddled. Problem is she HATES the swaddle. Well, after what feels like 20 attempts trying 20 different types of swaddles- we found one that worked like a charm. She slept for four hours, woke up, fed, and then slept for another 4! Note: I said- she, not me. I was an anxious mess still worried that she would wake up any moment.

@mrsog: Congrats!! Glad everything went smoothly Beautiful little guy!

@Mamasig: sorry to hear about the jaundice Hopefully he isn't under the lights for too much longer.

@Beebug: I had best intentions of making a bunch of freezer meals since being off work. ya...that definitely hasn't happened. Oh well, pizza delivery it is

@caity713: awww, what a cute little peanut! congrats!

Well, the full moon did nothing for me I had my appointment on Tuesday, and the OB said I was dilated a "very tight 1". He didn't seem too optimistic that anything would be happening before my scheduled c-section on wednesday. I know the c-section isn't the end of the world, but I'm really going to feel awful about not being able to pick up DD aftewards. And I was kind of excited about the prospect of going into labour, not knowing when it was going to happen, etc. Oh well, it COULD still happen that way, but time's running out! I was also hoping for going into labour, because I figured the element of surprise of going into labour would help me not panic (I'm sure that doesn't make any sense hahaha). I just remember the day before my planned c-section last time, I was a HUGE ball of nerves, freaking out about how are life was going to drastically change, etc. This time I think it will be 10 times worse, since it's not just changing for DH and I, but for DD as well. But going into labour on my own might eliminate some of that since I wouldn't know too far ahead of time that it was about to happen! (and this all sounds so silly, since no matter what, it's happening within the next week).

@cookie_dough: I feel sad I can't pick up DS for two weeks! I miss him so much! He's been by every day but I can't cuddle him good or squeeze him tight! This is the rough part. But on a good note, he seems to like Baby brother. I hope everything goes well with your c section. I have to say the surgery part felt harder - I felt more tugging and pressure. But I think recovery so far has been the same or easier. Good luck!

@junebugmama: Hope you're doing okay momma!!

@twodoghouse: Glad to hear recovery is going well! Oh man I remember that first poop after having DD, LOL.

@Mae: Hope you are getting more good nurses, then bad! That was really frustrating for me too, and just the different advice as the shifts changed.

@Coopersmama: Did you check email inbox of that email you sent me for invite to the group? Let me know if not, want to make sure we get you in Hopefully the anxious mess part will pass and you will start sleeping when she does soon, natural though, so you're not alone!

@caity713: eeeeee she is sooo cute! Congrats Momma! Hope you are doing well too!

@cookie_dough: I have nothing planned for today or tomorrow, so cooking these meals, and cleaning is it for me, and REST!

Had my appt yesterday, another super frustrating time. WHY in the last 3 appts I've had are they doing this? Two weeks ago they were running behind so I got a resident I'd never met. Last week they were running over an hour behind, I was last appt of the day and I got run in and out. Yesterday I got another resident who had to ask my name when she came in the room. I won't lie I was an effing bitch to her. Not her fault and not fair of me I guess, but I do not want to answer questions to someone I've never met about my pregnancy at 40+2, I just want my doctor. I am not opposed to residents at all, I have had one resident or my doc since 20w on, so why at 38w, and 40w appts has it been different? Argh. Anyways, my doc did come in at the end of the appt to check me, still 3cm, 50% effaced. Said baby was a little lower, I asked doc if he had any long weekend plans this weekend I could ruin by going into labour, and he is in the ER 12:30-8pm Sat & Sun at the hospital I am delivering at, so he said he'd be at the hosp most of the weekend anyways! Appt for Tuesday next week, and if we get to it, then will schedule induction 2-3 days after.

I was 181lbs, bp was 116/74, which was a LOT higher when the random resident walked in the room, lol.

My frozen peas and frozen raspberry addictions are so bad, I need to stop buying/fuelling them, get back on crushed ice, lol, safer.

OH!! I fell yesterday too ladies. Biggest news ever. I was carrying DD, and we were going to the car, our front yard isn't properly finished/graded yet by the builder and I mis-stepped to the driveway and fell into the gap alongside the driveway. It was awful between DD, baby on the inside, and my knee, I landed in a crumpled mess. DD got the ground on her two feet, I think I did good with the belly.......and then the best thing that came from it.....my knee! I fell hard on my good knee and it's swollen and cut, but it unlocked my bad one! Unreal! It's been almost a month! I have to be soooo careful, but what a treat to have it back....for now.

back to preggo/labour anticipation tmi moment, lots of mucus coming out this am....eeeee!

@Beebug: That is so annoying. I would have been pissed! Too late in the game for that foolishness.

So tired of symptom-spotting. I had so many contractions yesterday night, some actually painful, and along with the full moon and the drop in barometric pressure I was sure labor was imminent. Nope! It's probably going to come when I least expect it, so I need to put it out of my mind (yeah right).

  39. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

I went back onto my Oct 2012 thread where we were all anticipating labour, then announcing births, my post after announcing DD was born:

"She could seriously have a haircut already, her hair is like an inch long, it's hilarious! None of the hats I made or anything newborn size fits!"

I remember being SO disappointed nothing I made her fit (I taught myself to crochet while off work the month before I had her) who knew she was going to be so big and hairy, eee I can't wait to see what this babes is like!!

Then read about how she would fall asleep all the time and I was worried she wasn't getting enough to eat, so much I have forgotten about, oh my goodness!
