@mrsog: fingers crossed they can do the sweep and you go into labor on your own soon!

Ok some progress - I am 1 centimeter and 50% effaced. Got the membrane sweep and lost my plug this morning so it seems like things are happening.. I am also quite crampy today.. Fingers crossed he comes on his own this weekend!!

@junebugmama: wow thats a frustrating position to be in. Is it possible to redo the ultrasound elsewhere and see if the weight measurement is below 5000g? These readings are usually so off theres no harm in getting another done.
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: fingers crossed for you!! And so glad you got the sweep! They weren't able to do mine at "almost 1" so i'm hopeful if I've moved even a little they can do it at 41.

@mae: oh no! I'm not gold but I just saw that post and knew it was one of our May mamas. Sorry to hear that!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Mrs Hazelnut: Yea I don't want to get into it too much on public boards but cliffs notes is basically that my boss told me tonight out of a job. He's basically closing up shop. And he can't give me any answers about when, or how long I'll be paid for, or if I'll get the maternity leave pay I was promised.

Congrats to all the May mamas so far! I don't post much but I always check in to see the progress. Hopefully we have more babies coming this weekend!

@mae: yeah I understand that's why I don't post much. I think I'll upgrade to gold when my LO comes.
Sorry to hear about that! Hopefully you'll be able to find a new, better job quickly when you're ready to work again. Try to focus on the present-your DD may come this weekend!

@Mae: Just saw your other post and fb, holy crap. Hugs.
I was having contractions for a while last night, was so exciting!! Then I feel asleep and when I woke they were gone, boo.
Might pack hospital bag today!

@Mae: I'm so sorry about your job I was planning to go back to mine after an extended leave and was laid off as we were planning my return. It's a crappy situation but I'm sure everything will work out for the best. At least you should be able to get a great recommendation from your boss which wouldnt be the case if you were interviewing secretly, right?
papaya / 10343 posts
Thanks all. @skipra: yes, this does mean I should be able to use him as a reference when before I was hunting in secret. I do feel like in the end if I can find another job I like better this might really be a blessing. It's just hard to escape the fear of: what if I CANT find a job?
@Beebug: you haven't packed a bag yet?! Lol get on it girl!
I was sort of a hot mess last night and suuuuper crampy. Was really hoping that the shock of the whole situation would put me into labor (another silver lining lol) but no dice.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: too bad about no dice on silver lining of going into labour. I hope everything turns out okay for you, surely it's happened for a reason, just the timing blows, you don't need to have to be thinking about that right now.
No, I have not packed bag yet. DDs bag is packed for when she stays with my Mom, the dog's bag is packed too, but me? Pfft, over rated apparently. I have bought pads and freezies to take IN the bag, does that count? haha.
Gorgeous gorgeous day here, we have been out back all day, I just came in to pop online classifieds ad, we put our BBQ at the curbside, DH got a new one with Christmas money from parents and we finally bought one and he's going to BBQ for us tonight. Our old one is like a $150 you-can't-kill-it BBQ I bought when I lived on my own (and put together myself, lol) pre-DH, so he is pretty pumped for the new one, ha! I set up our beach tent for DD to have some shade (we have none) and filled up a rubbermaid bin with water and utensils and she had so much fun, she is napping now, and I should too!

@Mae: @twodoghouse: @cheesetomywhine: Well the midwife and doctor came in. They told me that as they has said previously, they will not assist in furthering my labor along in any way. The doctor told me his recommendation was a c-section and the midwife said her recommendation was to go home and see if I can get active labor started again, while reiterating that her senior peers would recommend a c-section. I presented them with this information http://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-for-induction-or-c-section-for-big-baby/
They agreed that my attempt at a vaginal birth had "minimal risk", however still a risk. I then asked for a level 2 ultrasound, to perhaps get a more accurate estimate of babies weight. The doctor said "well that's not a bad idea actually", but then later stated he didn't think that the outcome would "change his mind either way".
I chose to leave the hospital.

@junebugmama: I'm thinking about you, and I won't lie, worried!
I don't know enough about everything to comment on everything that is happening with you, but really hope you have healthy babes in your arms soon and you are okay too!!

@Beebug: I'm not worried. Just stressed about my care. I am having a midwife come over tomorrow for another opinion

@junebugmama: Good luck!
Also this creepy thought just occurred to me: I am carrying around a 1 week old child inside of me. That is weird as all get-out. And speaking of get-out... GET OUT. lol

Just jumping in...
@junebugmama: hoping contractions pick-up and you can labor/deliver naturally!!
Good luck to the rest of you this month!!

@junebugmama: echoing everyone else. Thinking of you and hoping labor has picked up again.
@Mae: @mrsog: How are you both doing? Hope those LOs make their arrivals soon!
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: doing alright.. Super crampy with a few sporadic contractions this weekend, but no imminent sign of baby.
papaya / 10343 posts
So I'm having a cranky night. Prob not helped by the fact that I may or may not find out more about my (lack of) job situation tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to that convo.
Also the whole uncertainty of this time really sucks. All the crampy feelings I was having started coming/going a little bit ago. Every time it would come was super crampy/clenchy (very low, not high like BH) and I thought something was maybe actually starting. But it was coming too fast (like every few min) and didn't really hurt enough to be the real deal, and then after like an hour it stopped anyways.
Ugh. Glad to have all my doc appts tomorrow to check in on baby and honestly just be one day closer to Friday. I'm beginning to care less about being induced. Still hoping it happens before then but at this point I don't even care how she gets out, I just want to get the whole labor and delivery thing over with so I can finally meet my kid and get on with my life.
nectarine / 2019 posts
So I started having some light contractions. We decided to get up and go for a walk to see if we could get them to be stronger, close together etc. We were out and I had a pretty good one that took my breathe away.
All of a sudden this lady comes out of nowhere
Lady: "Oh my god is she going into labor, do you need me to call 911?"
DH: "No. We are hoping she can get into active labor. Out for a walk to try to get things moving."
Lady: "What do you mean? Do you want me to drive you back to your house?"
DH: "No she's ok"
Lady: "What if her water breaks out here, that's really dangerous"
DH: "No it isn't. We are ok."
Lady: "This doesn't seem safe. I'm worried. Are you sure? Do you need water? Let me get you some water"
I finally have enough breath and explain to her that walking is to help me get my labor going. That I am perfectly ok. She responds. "You're one tough nutty cookie" DH and I are still laughing about it and it happened like an hour ago. It was very innocent and I'm assuming she doesn't have children. Just thought I would share.

@Mae: sorry you're not having a great night. You do have a lot going on right now so that's understandable. Hopefully tomorrow's discussions will bring more clarity and peace to the situation and what you need to do going forward.
And having an induction date is awesome! So you know at the very latest, this weekend baby should be in your arms. The end is very, very near!
@junebugmama: lol, funny story. Poor lady probably returned home still puzzled about you!

Hunger and heartburn.....
Been up an hour and a half now, ughhh. I just made the move into the livingroom, DH snoring like crazy (but I'm glad he's sleeping and I wasn't keeping him up!). Had two bowls of raisin bran (one wasn't enough apparently) and snacked a bit on some other stuff, so we will see what the rest of the night brings.....sleep.....I hope! EDD is here!!
@junebugmama: what a random convo!! I remember coming home from my 40w appt with #1 and I told our (kidless) neighbours my check up stats, I had always told the wife/my friend, but her DH was there and I just let it go about dilation, etc, and I guess when they got in the house he freaked and was like "do we need to watch the dog, should I offer to drive them to the hospital" and went on and on of what he could do in a panic, and she was like.....chill, lol, means nothing!
@Mae: I'm kind of over the uncertainty of when this is all going to happen too, but hugs, hang in there Mama! We will have our LOs in our arms before we know it. Do you have anything planned this week, beyond the work stuff that has now come up?
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: ugh sorry you can't sleep. Me either. Thunder storming here all night and dog has kept up. Plus I am SUPER uncomfortable. I feel like lo is so low she is going to fall out and I can't get comfy to sleep anyways. On the plus side I feel like maybe this means labor is imminent ? The fact that I'm suddenly so uncomfortable. On the other side.. Crap night to get no sleep if I'm going into labor soon. Hopeful I can nap after all my appts today. Also.. Ended up talking to boss last night before bed. So I guess I am officially done there. Which feels weird. Like I prob won't even talk to any of my clients again. But I guess I'm grateful to not have to worry about working this week. Still no word on what/if I'll be paid anything-- or any indication of when he will know that.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: I'm still up, going on 4 hours awake. I think I just about fell asleep in basement bed and DD woke. Then I went on Facebook, something I saw that my MIL did annoyed me which sent me into a swirl of MIL worry/thoughts about what happened when we had DD and them coming here this time. I could puke wth anxiety I had myself so worked up. Good you talked to your boss, but too bad you don't know all final deets yet. Sorry you're uncomfortable, maybe baby soon with that change!
Ugh on in law stuff for us, we have no plan, have never discussed what happened, expectations for this time, etc. I think DH has talked with them more than he has let on and he and I have sort of discussed hopes for this time, he won't ask them to stay somewhere else though, and I'm not sure I can do it.

@Mae: omg just saw about your job. I'm so sorry that this is something you have to deal with right now. Hopefully this leads to you getting something else and being happier in the end.
I felt the same exact way as you all weekend- really crampy, some contractions, but nothing happening.
@skipra: thanks for checking in! It was so nice here all weekend so DH and I walked a ton and walking def started contractions but then again, nothing. So today is induction day, was really hoping to get it started on its own but I'm ready to go now. I tried to get a good night sleep but that was hard. I'm feeling all sorts of emotions from nervous and anxious to excited
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@mrsog: I was excited to see you post! What time will induction be today?
Anyone that was or will be induced, I have heard different preferences on time of day to have it done, any thoughts? I am assuming at my appt Wednesday we will schedule mine for the following week.
apricot / 388 posts
@Beebug: I am going in at 5pm and will get cervidil overnight and then if I need it will start pitocin in the morning. I'm happy to not be going right in for pit but I hope it doesn't make for a long drawn out labor.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: at doc office now-- have thought but will respond more when I am not on my phone!
@mrsog: I'm excited for you to be induced today! Lo will be here soon!!! My induction, if I get to Friday should be the same. It is scheduled for 8pm with the expectation of starting pit in the am I think? I want more details on that at my appt today.
apricot / 388 posts
@Mae: I wish I had talked to my doc a little more about why she wanted me to go in at 41 weeks and not wait out this week at all but she just seemed so matter of fact about it like this is what I need to do that I didn't question it at the time. I'm ok with it now - I'm pretty small an am nervous about him getting big and also since I haven't really progressed on my own I don't want to put off the inevitable. But it does still make me nervous. Also the cervidil was something unfamiliar and after reading up on it seems like there is a mixed bag on how well it works. In any event, I will let you know how it all goes tonight/tomorrow!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Beebug: I'd think since you're already dilating and it's your second they would probably skip the cervical ripening step? If you go straight for pitocin I'd recommend first thing in the morning so you hopefully won't have to labor middle of the night. Both our guys arrived between 5 & 6 pm and it was perfect because we could go to bed once we got to the room.
@mrsog: Good luck today and tomorrow! Can't wait to hear your hood news
@Mae: sorry you are feeling so discouraged. The very beginning of my labor sounds like what you're feeling. It would be good if it is early labor and you can get some progress without a ton of pain. Hope your appointment goes well!
@junebugmama: Thats a funny story. We walked around a lot in early labor and i got a lot of looks but no comments. Hope things keep moving along.

So I went in for my weekly ultrasound and appointment today. Fluid levels are really low so today is the big day! I should have baby boy in my arms in a couple of hours!
