@skipra: My baby is still flip-flopping between right anterior and left anterior. I'm really surprised she is still able to be so mobile at this point! She does favor the left side so I hope she is there when things get going, but as long as she comes I don't care how! Also I'm totally with you on still doing all of the things! Tons of RRL tea, EPO, yoga ball, walking, etc. So far today I've had sex, taken the dog for a long walk, went to run errands and walked around for like 1.5 hrs, and now I'm eating lunch with hot salsa and RRL tea. come out come out come OUT. lol

@caity713: aw, sorry that they couldn't do the ECV! At least LO will be here for sure next week

@caity713: I also recently learned that I'll likely have a c-section, and also felt a twinge of the 'bummer' about it for a minute... you're not alone, lady! And I just keep reminding myself that a safe and healthy baby is all that matters, and that there are positives that are unique to c-sections! It can be cool to have a plan! Best of luck

@Mae: You're pretty much my hero when it comes to 3rd trimester sex. That sounds way creepier than I mean it. Haha. I haven't been able to let my husband near me in like a month... every time we attempt, I feel like I'm going to die, and I'm pretty sure he's very frustrated. I think it's awesome that you've been able to keep up with your marital relations.

@gingerblonde: lol! I think I'm just lucky that I'm still feeling pretty good. If it was painful or unpleasant I wouldn't do it (unless I got REALLY desperate to get her out I guess... haha).

Also re: c-sections, definitely not ideal but when I thought I might have to have one earlier in my pregnancy (due to the low placenta issue that ended up resolving itself) the two things I was excited about were 1) having a date certain (which at this point in my pregnancy journey seems amazzzzzing) and 2) a planned c-section is way better than an emergency one. Recovery still sucks but at least you never have to go through the whole laboring part or the scary part or the making a decision in the heat of the moment part. You can mentally prepare for it and that's that! Also, I know quite a few ppl who had c-sections and had no real trouble with recovery. My SIL had a planned c-section due to breech baby and and when I saw her less than a month later she said she felt totally back to normal!

@caity713: It'll be ok! Most people don't think of c sections when they first realize they are having a baby - I didn't. But in the end it does have some advantages when it's planned. I wasn't in a rush. It was all very relaxed yet exciting. It's nice knowing there is a final exit date for the baby too! My recovery wasn't bad and I'm hoping this time it isn't too.

Do you happen to know what number your fluid level was at? Mine was at 6. Just wondering cause baby boy may come even one week earlier if it doesn't improve. I've been drinking my gallon of water a day!

@gingerblonde: Glad to hear I'm not alone! I know that it's definitely the best thing in the long run and that it will be okay...just not the birth I imagined.

@Mamasig: it's great to hear from someone who has been through it! I'm really hoping my recovery will go well! My fluid today was a 7. They said it was borderline but not dangerous enough to warrant an immediate c-section. They're going to reassess on Monday though.

Congrats to all the Mama's with babies who have arrived!

I took castor oil yesterday. Had steady contractions (none of the yucky issues that come along with it normally) for 15 hours. They were strong had some changes and then decided to take a walk. That's when they stopped. They are planning an induction for Friday. boo!

@junebugmama: sorry to hear I hope J3 either shows on his own in the next 1.5 days, or your induction goes very smoothly!

    nectarine / 2019 posts

@Mae: Thanks. My midwife is willing to try a lot of induction things that don't require meds first, such as a foley balloon inserted in my cervix. Since I'm having plenty of contractions the thought is my cervix just needs some help dilating. Hopefully, that will be enough to get it done!

@caity713: Sorry to hear the version didn't work. At least you will know what is going to happen soon and a scheduled C-section is so much better to have than an emergency one after laboring for hours, at least I imagine so.

@junebugmama: Boo that really stinks that your baby is not here after 15 hours of contractions.

Sorry about the pity party earlier, ladies. I started feeling crampy probably soon after I posted that and now the contractions have started up and are definitely real. DS of course refused to nap and I'm totally exhausted after the 4 mile walk and not sleeping well last night. I am hoping I can rest a bit after he goes to sleep and they won't go away. Please keep your fingers crossed that this is for real!

Thanks everyone for all the kind wishes & encouragement. Y'all are seriously the best. Hearing from all of you even when I've barely checked-in this 9 months was the support I needed to get through a couple tough days with baby.

Overall things are so amazing. I think we must have one of the easiest, sweetest babies around. Nursing continues to be challenging and demanding (and painful) to mama, but we're pushing through. Most days I just want to sit & stare at her. Which is easy to do since she's asleep all day and wide-eyed all night!

Something else I thought of that surprised me about postpartum was my extreme love for the big maxi pads and stretchy disposable undies they give you at the hospital. Weird right? I kept reading on here how the hospital pads suck and are so big so I felt the need beforehand to run out and buy some fancy Always. Still glad I have the Always for later, but let me tell you, I really like feeling super secure with the big hospital pads (the second smaller size they give, not the initial almost diapers). I asked for an extra stash of pads & stretchy underwear for home. One of the 2 times I used Always I had leakage. So, silly thing but so so glad I asked for extras. I'm sad my stretchy underwear stash runs out today!

@MRSHONEYBEAR: I am glad to hear things are going well. Have you seen an LC for the pain issue? I also must admit that I loved the mesh undies last time too

@MRSHONEYBEAR: so glad you're doing so well!! also I've heard lots of people say that about the mesh undies/pads! I did pack some of my own in case I don't like them, but I also packed an empty reusable grocery bag to stuff with freebies to take home if i do like them

@caity713: I'm sorry to hear about your fluid levels and the possible c-section. FWIW I am currently healing from a vaginal delivery followed by emergency c-section and things are going well. Sure it's surgery, but I haven't had too much pain. Zero complications. I can pick up/nurse/snuggle both my babies without any issue (I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get them out of their bassinets, but no problems!) Having a c-section was not my first choice, but it's been far from the traumatic thing I feared!

@skipra: Hope this is it for you! Can't wait to hear good news from you!

@junebugmama: I am hoping so much that J3 will get with the program SOON so you don't have to face the induction. Sounds like your midwives might be able to get things going naturally even of you have to be induced though, which is awesome.

@MRSHONEYBEAR: Hope you and your LO have a good day today and BFing gets a little better soon! I loved the hospital supplies too! My hospital now rations the good stuff - you get one pack of mesh panties, one pack of the good pads then after that you're stuck with regular pads. I was so sad when I ran out of the giant pads and has to go to regular ones. My bleeding hasn't even been that bad too!

Things are going well for is at home. We are going for daily weights and bilirubin checks at the ped due to their small size and the weight they lost in the hospital. Poor little Alice is down to 5 lb 5 oz. Blake is doing better and actually gained some weight back so he is at 4 lb 9 oz now. We are offering 20 ml of formula after we breastfeed each time, but my milk is coming in so I'm starting to make enough to supplement with pumped milk after each BF session! Now that I'm making real milk, they are back to BF really well. Hope it stays that way!

Well, I really hope some more May babies get their butts in gear and join us on the outside! We still have time for Morher's Day babies!

Here's a few pics from the last few days at home:

@twodoghouse: lovely update! Glad things are going well. I hope Alice continues to pick up and gain back her weight. You are looking fabulous too!

@Mae: I keep thinking of you. One of my closest high school friends was due on May 4th as well and had her baby yesterday. You are so close! Keep up the sex, they say it really works!

@junebugmama: @skipra: thinking of you two also and hoping the time is very near and everything goes smoothly!

Things are ok with us. We've finally managed to work out a good latch and my milk supply is great. I'm leaking everywhere and was able to pump and freeze my first 30ml yesterday. You won't believe how happy that made me! DH has been extremely supportive and wakes with every feed so he can do the burping. I hope he knows when I'm pumping regularly he's taking over some night time feedings, alone. lol. My nipples are sore and threatening to fall off so I will check out an LC tmrw after his first ped's visit.

Motherhood is great but I'm starting to feel the effects of not having DH all to myself all the time and vise versa. We're always together, but it makes a difference with a baby in the mix. This morning my mom watched G while we showered together and spent a few minutes just us, and that was great! You begin to appreciate all the little things when life changes.
I also cried talking to my mom yesterday and thanking her for being here. Both DH and I are overwhelmed with her support and well I guess some post preg hormones got the best of me, lol. I was seriously weeping from sheer gratitude.

@Glitter: I'm so happy for you that you're getting the hang of BF and that the timing of your mom's visit worked out so well! Also that you and DH got a little alone time! I'm sure that time period between birth and when LO starts STTN and gives you a few hours alone each night is really hard! I definitely am a bit worried about missing dh, even though he'll be right there. I woke up about an hour before the alarm went off this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so we just sort of laid there cuddling and chatting for an hour before we had to get up and it was SO nice. I was thinking, despite my incredible anxious-ness to get the baby show on the road, how much I should appreciate that time we are able to have together right now because life is definitely not going to be so leisurely soon!!

@twodoghouse: omg they are so precious. I have that same gray with blue sailboats outfit I am bringing to hospital (one of his going home options). Glad your milk is coming in now- that should really help them gain their weight back.

@skipra: @junebugmama: good luck! Waiting for an update!

So I went to doc on Tuesday and I was still 1/2 a centimeter. I am going back tomorrow for another check and if I am more dilated may do a membrane sweep. Otherwise if he isn't showing any sign of arrival I will go in Monday night to start induction. First ill get the internal meds to ripen cervix (I forget what it's called) and then the next morning will start pitocin. I really hope he comes on his own before then but I just don't feel like it'll happen for some reason. He's still moving around a lot and I'm still pretty comfortable. I have been drinking the tea and walking and dtd so we will see if any of those help! Good news on his late arrival is that the nursery is actually done! Oh and I also started maternity leave yesterday. Commuting and working long days was exhausting so I feel much better resting at home and finishing some things up around here.

Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes! Looks like this labor might be a long one. Went to hospital last night to get the bleeding checked out and everything looked good. So thankfully no abruption or anything. Contractions about every 10 minutes or so during the night. Made to about every 6 minutes and i just got so tired that I am laying on the couch for a bit and now they are only every 11 minutes. Have appointment with midwife this agternoon so we'll see if there's any progress.

    Hello ladies-

Sorry for the silence. Our Cinco De Baby- a Amelia Grace was born May 5th at 10:32 pm. I had a grueling 20 hours of labor, but even crazier was that what started off as 'just a toothache' became horrifying pain, and I had to have emergency dental surgery, removing an infected wisdom tooth in between contractions. It was a long story, but I can tell you my dentist is never going to forget removing a woman in labor's tooth!

Short version, my contractions were at 2-3 minutes all day, but there was no movement in dilation and even by the end of the day, and highest amount of pitocin, I was still only 4 cm dilated after 20 hours. Also, the baby would not change stations from 11 a.m. Until 10 pm. In the meantime, I had a leak, and little amnio fluid, and when my doc broke my waters to try speed up things, they found meconium. I did not want the baby to end up distressed, so we opted for a c-Section.

She is here, she is great and we are so smitten by Amelia. Even with the tough labor and deliver, I would do it all over again. My doula was amazing, my husband was a rockstar, the nurses were incredible, and my doctor was wonderful. Recovery from the C section is tough, but hanging in there. We are hoping to get discharged today.

@Glitter: ya, those post-partum hormones had me in tears so often when I had DD!! That's awesome that your mom is being such a big help

@mrsog: awww, love the nursery! and yay for maternity leave!

@Coopersmama: Congrats on your beautiful little girl! What a story you will have to tell her about her birth when she is older Hopefully you recover quickly from the c-section AND dental surgery!!!

I'm half regretting my decision to leave work so early. I'm bored already. If this little guy doesn't get here soon, I might go crazy hahaha. I"m not very good at just hanging out and relaxing...I've been doing some cleaning and chores, but that tires me out...but then I get bored just sitting here watching tv if I'm not doing something!
