@rrachael: Yay for movement! I am 15 weeks and can't wait to feel the baby move!
@blackbird: I am sooooo sick right now. I felt it coming on on Saturday but it really struck hard on Monday making miss work for two days and now I've taken two half days. I feel horrible. I can't remember the last time I was so sick. It's everything; sore throat, dry hacking cough, sore chest, plugged sinuses, sinus headaches, sore ears, watery eyes. I've been living off my moms homemade chicken noodle soup and tea. I don't normally take any type of cold/flu drugs and usually go the naturopathic route but there is something about being pregnant and not even having the option to take anything that makes it even harder! I hope you feel better soon!
@MsHangry: You look beautiful! I can't wait to have a little bump!
Sorry for the random post, I do follow along! I just feel like I don't really have much to contribute!
On a side note, at our last appointment a few weeks ago, we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. (I was 12 weeks at the time) 140 bpm!

@blackbird: Ugh, it gets worse. Another woman said to me this afternoon "Wow, you're really gaining all over with this one, huh?" It's always older secretaries with big mouths I have only gained 3 lbs - it can't be THAT obvious anywhere but my belly....

@SeptMomma12: I asked DH last night if he wanted some wine, so that I could open it, give him a glass, put some in our pasta dish, and take a few sips myself. Alas, we didn't have white wine any around, HAHAHA. So i used chicken broth instead. Womp womp

Have you guys heard of Emily Oster and her research on the clinical trials on drinking and pregnancy? I bought her book and based on the data she presents (not HER data, but interpreting data in every valid clinical trial that tested outcomes in women who drank during pregnancy, which was close to 100,000 pregnancies in total). According to the data, 1 drink per day is a very safe threshold for not having to worry about having any negative effects. I have done a lot of research, and so has she, and I've pored over her research, and I feel no guilt whatsoever having a glass or two of wine each week.
I also read some interesting articles with contributions from Placenta Specialists, drs who specialize in placenta disorders, and basically one drink just won't have enough alcohol in it to cross the placenta once it's filtered by blood, the liver, and the placenta. So if you want a glass of wine at this point, you can feel pretty safe!
The most shocking thing I read was that if you have a certain amt of grams of pure alcohol a day, there is a 30% chance of your child getting FAS. I can't remember the amount, but I converted it to oz and it equaled 7-9 drinks PER DAY. So crazy that they have studied people who drank that much pregnant! And even crazier that there's a 70% chance their babies are FINE. So I decided my little glass of red wine on the patio on the weekends is negligible!
Sorry for my data spouting:). I love clinical data analysis:). I've been in pharma a long time;)
Getting a pedicure and decided to data dump

@PrincessBaby: i agree completely I did l the research last time and don't feel bad for a glass of wine or beer when I feel like it. I think the craziest thing I read while breastfeeding was that even if you got trashed your milk would have no more alcohol then orange juice in the US, there is such a stigmatism against it and it's just not proven.
This was a quick article about it that I thought was pretty good although horrible source http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/news/a32292/why-i-drank-while-i-was-pregnant/

@PrincessBaby: @jetsa: I completely agree with you ladies. I think its completely fine to have a small glass of wine with the occasional dinner or after a crappy day. Yet, for myself, I feel I have to be careful on who I do it around, people can be soooo judgemental.

@jetsa: @Tippy0707: Glad I'm not the only drinking pregnant person;). Actually, I know I'm not, but no one really likes to subject themselves to criticism and admit it, which I completely understand.
Oh and I never do it in public now that I'm so obviously pregnant. I only have a glass of wine at my home sweet home

@PrincessBaby: @Tippy0707: ugh yes I don't know who would say something and who wouldn't. The good part of not having a bump yet, I guess

@Tippy0707: @PrincessBaby: @jetsa:
I agree that a glass or two shouldn't cause an issue. The stigma is there though.
I found one of my strongest adversions during the first trimester was to alcohol. Still isn't appealing to me.

@MsHangry: last time I craved beer, I drank a ton of Busch NA; this time, I can't even think about drinking one.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: Same, i drank a lot of O'douls with E. I've had...maybe one, this time around.
So i think I finally felt movement this weekend! I'm 18 weeks so it makes sense. It was really sparse and just when I was relaxing on the couch, laying back, but it was pretty distinctly like being poked from the inside!

@blackbird: isn't it weird how different every pregnancy is?!? yay for movement! I still have to be stopped and laying down to feel it too!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: SO WEIRD. This one's way worse so far, HA! Kinda makes me worried about wanting a third!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@blackbird: this one is way worse for me too, luckily 2 is it for us! We're in the process of debating permenant birth control, being an adult is so fun

@jetsa: I'm so glad I'm not the only one being like WTF this time around. E was such an easier pregnancy. I'm not only uncomfortable, but i feel pretty shitty a lot of the time, too. Makes me crabby. I think I'm getting Mirena after this one, since there'll be a few years before we add a third, I think.

@blackbird: yea with J I had like three mornings of omg I feel hungover, this time it was everyday up to 12 weeks and its still randomly going on. Food doesn't taste good and I'm just exhausted boo.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: Yeah i'm 18 weeks and was laid up most of Friday night and Saturday. I just don't feel like myself (moreso than pregnancy should make me feel NOT like myself). Thumbs. Down.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@blackbird: ugh that's horrible. I'm done by the time I put J to bed but I do pretty well as long as I snack constantly.

So my midwife moved after LO1 so I had to start over and I've been seeing an NP and she said something weird about TG deliveries 'USED' to be her favorite when she was a neonatal nurse and I'm like wait you still do deliveries right and she's like oh no I just do prenatal care; uhh what!!
I'm so annoyed, I like seeing one dr/midwife the entire pregnancy and now I have to switch at the halfway point!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: Yep i'm finding i need to eat a lot or the mucous really upsets my stomach. Sexy, I know
Oh no!!! So now you have to find someone new?!?! (so weird she does prenatal care but not deliveries?....). Can she at least recommend someone good? If it makes you feel any better, I keep having to have weird appt times at only one location, so I haven't actually seen my Dr yet!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@blackbird: There are midwives and OB's in her practice that she of course recommends. I had a midwife recommended by LO1's midwife and the marketing director, I was just having a hard time lining up appts with her so that is who I scheduled my next appt with.

@jetsa: That's so strange. My original GYN didn't deliver babies anymore, but she wouldn't see you past your first prenatal appt. So annoying to have to change!
@blackbird: I'm 16 (almost 17) weeks and have felt some stuff but nothing I can 100% for certain say is baby. I was already feeling major kicks with my son at this point, so it's a little odd.
I had a horrible first pregnancy, so I'm happy to say this one has been "easier" so far. With my last, I had heart problems that caused me to randomly pass out and then had melanoma, so I was basically in and out of the hospital for the first 16 weeks. But it's definitely still no walk in the park - I am toast by the end of the day! And I'm definitely already having BH contractions, which is earlier than last time. Just hoping to avoid bed rest this time.

16 week bump! Cannot believe how large it is already. Will hopefully know tomorrow if it's a he or a she! I am leaning boy but my husband thinks girl.

@SeptMomma12: wow that's an awesome 16 week bump!!!
I turned 15 weeks on Saturday I totally popped in here once and forgot to keep up!!!!
This is my second babe first was November 2013. I'm high risk though and will deliver no later than 36 weeks which is May second for me!

@BabyPenguinXO: That's a great bump too! Happy that you popped back in - we are a quiet board!

@SeptMomma12: it wasn't mobile friendly for a while and I don't have internet just my cell! Do that was super annoying!! Haha I'm excited to see what you're having! What's your intuition!?
I fly with our son to see my fiancé who is working out of state in two weeks! I scheduled a surprise elective scan for us the day after I arrive he has no idea about the scan 15 days!! I have noooo idea what I'm having. I say boy because my pregnancy is so similar to my first and hubby's family is full of boys.
kiwi / 549 posts
@SeptMomma12: Sorry just realized you say boy I think I'm siding with your hubby you have a nice round bump which is a wives tale of a girl
maybe I should ask how your pregnancy has been!? Lol
pear / 1849 posts
@BabyPenguinXO: That's so exciting that you will be able to surprise him with the scan! My pregnancy has been very different than with my son - totally different cravings/aversions, wasn't sick this time but was with him. I think that's why my husband is so convinced it's a girl.

@SeptMomma12: that's so funny! My pregnancy was easy with my son! First trimester I had 3 days where I was actually nauseaous so who knows if it was even pregnancy or a bug!? I did lose 9 lbs first trimester from lack of appetite and I have over all a lack of appetite and just food adversions this pregnancy as well. My mom never really had bad MS with me or my brothers. So that gives me hope we would kind of like a little girl another mama from my December group is a week ahead of me and she's having s girl, already had a son, and her pregnancies are totally opposite! I know it's totally possible it's a girl. I just have no intuition Hahahah

@SeptMomma12: cute bump! Good luck tomorrow, hope the little one cooperates
@BabyPenguinXO: welcome! Beautiful bump!!
I am only on my first pregnancy, so I have nothing to compare with. With morning sickness done it has gotten a lot better!
I'll have to post a bump pic later this week. I decided to wear a maternity sweater today. Nice and comfy but just hides the bump. I bought some maternity over the bump leggings this weekend from Gap. I have a feeling they will change my life.
kiwi / 549 posts
@MsHangry: omg maternity leggings are the shiz!!! I got mine from kohls and they are all I wear. But I'm a stay at home mama to one already. I do have maternity jeans too lol for when absolutely neccessary.

@PrincessBaby: I loved her book - it's really amazing how many of the recommendations given to pregnant women have virtually no basis in science.
My problem is that the only alcoholic beverage I'm craving is sparkling wine, and it's be such a shame to open a whole bottle just to let the rest go to waste! Oh well...
