I guess I'll get the party started!
Location: Southern California
EDD: 5/12/18
First child? Second-my son will be 3 in November
Any symptoms? Tons-I had an inkling about a week ago even though I am only 12 DPO currently. I'm broken out like no one's business, my sense of smell is insane, and I'm already kind of nauseous!
Who have you told? Husband and 3 best friends (shout out to @theotherstark for being there through it all!)
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? I've been wanting to try for a second baby for almost 6 months but it took my husband a while to come around to the idea. He's really excited which is great-it took me a bit of time to believe it was real! I'm very nervous for the typical stuff-a healthy, growing baby, how life with 2 kids will change everything, etc. etc. My son loves babies, though, so hoping he takes on his big brother role with pride! Can't wait to "meet" you all!

@ChiCalGoBee: I guess I will join you! I can't even believe I am here.
Location: Southern California
EDD: May 5, 2018
First child? Second
Any symptoms? Zero
Who have you told? HB friend, IRL friend, husband, husband's friend and wife, in that order.
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? I'm shocked that I'm pregnant after trying for years and going through IVF for my girl. (I have a strong theory on how this all occurred.) She just turned one years old next week. I'm still full time nursing and pumping for my girl, although I think today will be my last day pumping. I'm so excited to be pregnant again and we want this baby so much in our family. But I have all kinds of anxiety, too. Not the least of which is do I need to feel embarrassed because they will be so close together? Where is the "two under two" support group? I'm continuously taking pregnancy tests because this is just unreal to me.

@agold: Wow! Forgive me if we've discussed before, but where do you live? I'm in San Diego . Congrats on your BFP!!! I'm in absolute shock to be here, too, and truly thought the many test I took were faulty. P.S. my husband wasn't the first to know, either

@agold: not pregnant but wanted to say congrats to my fellow august mom! So happy for you!! PS: I know lots of people with two under two -- you'll do great

@agold: congrats!!! You give me hope when I start ttc what is your theory?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: I'm in Orange County, so not too far from you. Glad I'm not the only one who is shocked! Have you made an appointment with your doctor yet? Mine is scheduled for the end of September and I can't believe its that far away. My experience is weekly ultrasounds! And so sad to have a half full opened bottle of nice wine on my counter. I was clearly not anticipating a positive pregnancy test.
@MrsSCB: Thank you, August mama friend! And thank you for reminding me.. I keep reminding myself that and I've already scouted out some insta moms with kids 21 months apart to follow for some reassurance!
@HappyBaker: Thank you and congratulations to you!!
@MrsKRB: Oh, my fellow IVF friend. Thank you! So here's my theory in as short as I can say it. I had a really long and sort of terrible labor and delivery. I never dilated past 1. It was known all throughout my pregnancy that I had pre-cancerous cells frozen off my cervix when I was 21 years old. My doctor led me to believe I would need a c-section because of this. After I finally got the epidural, my angel nurse said she could just break the scar tissue up herself, which she did. I dilated to a 10 in like an hour. So my thought is that maybe the scar tissue was causing all the problem. No dilating, and no pregnancy. Now that its broken up and maybe gone, there was an easy peasy path to pregnancy. I don't know what else it could be. I certainly didn't think about this before!

I'm excited to join you all!
Location: outside Washington, DC
EDD: 5/5/2018
First child? 2nd
Any symptoms? Nope
Who have you told? My husband and my birth group from my son
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? This was sooner than planned, so I am just getting used to the idea.

@agold: wow!! That's crazy, but sounds like it could be! Congrats again, and good luck with 2 under 2

@Pollywog: Welcome! So glad to have you here! How old is your first kiddo? I'm definitely nervous about handling two kids (mine is almost 3 and definitely had his share of "Terrible Twos") so I feel you.
@agold: I went to get blood drawn today (not betas, just a qualitative "yes" or "no"). On Tuesday if things continue to go well I'll call to schedule the first appointment.
Excited to have other second-time-moms here!

@Pollywog: Hi! Welcome! How close will your two be?
@ChiCalGoBee: Yes to being excited for some second time moms. Although I'm already forgetting what to do. I had fish yesterday for lunch and thought later that I probably wasn't support to eat that. I'll miss deli meat. I was on bed rest for my first pregnancy, and then here I am on my feet, lifting my huge baby all day!

@agold: @ChiCalGoBee: Thank you! J is 19 months so the kiddos should be 27 months apart. I'm hoping they'll get along well.

@ChiCalGoBee: yay!!! (totally clicked on this thread when I saw your name)

@Pollywog: 27 months is pretty close together. My girl just threw her first sort of tantrum in a public place. She threw her head back and arched her back when I picked her up to put her back in the stroller to leave nordstrom. I was thinking to myself, "good bye, all public places. I will see you again in like 5 years." I can't imagine going out with two little ones!! But I am still so very excited!! I'm thinking I will tell my mom and sister on Monday. So hard not to tell her today.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: @Pollywog: Are you girls still testing with pregnancy tests? I keep going out to buy more. I will for sure test tomorrow and I'd like to find one of those digitals that has the weeks estimator. Target didn't have them which totally surprised me. And where all the other May moms. I know there is at least one more out there.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@agold: Funny you should mention the Weeks Estimator ones....apparently they don't sell them anymore so I had a box I bought online that I found at the back of my medicine cabinet. I just took it and it estimated me at 2-3 weeks post ovulation, which is spot on (2 weeks today). It's nowhere near as reliable as a beta test, of course, but it feels good to know there's enough HCG in there to bring that up (today is my official "missed period" day!). I had just stocked up on tests earlier this week to gear up for future cycles so I'm burning through them pretty quickly.
We won't be telling family until at least after (fingers crossed) a successful heartbeat appointment around 8 weeks, but they live out of town so it shouldn't be too hard. I'm pretty sure they aren't expecting it so hoping it's a fun surprise.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Thank you so much for telling me they don't make the weeks estimator anymore! That's crazy. But you saved me from a frustrating search across many grocery stores and pharmacies tomorrow. I'm pretty positive we will wait until after first appointment at least to tell my husband's family. And then until after 3 months to tell everyone else. But I am excited to tell my mom and sister. I ordered a little amazon "big sister" shirt and it arrived today. We are having a pool party on monday with my family so I'm thinking it will be such a huge surprise. Even if I have a miscarriage (God, please no), I'd want their support so I'm feel fine to tell them.

If anyone is interested in joint a Facebook group, wall me your email address and I can add you to the WB group.
@agold: I'm still testing. I bought a 50 pack of Wondfos that expire in January, so I am POAS guilt free
We told my parents and sister last night. It's so early, but I had no good excuse for why I wasn't drinking so I kind of felt like I needed to tell or they'd guess
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Pollywog: Left my info on your wall! With my son I had that 50-pack of WondFos and definitely used them up . This time I'm running low and trying to will myself not to get more. So fun that you told your family! Mine are out of town, otherwise there's no way we'd be able to wait until 8+ weeks.
Can't wait for it to be Tuesday so I can call and schedule my appointment. I really hoped the second time around would be easier but I am just as nervous-if not more-than I was the first time.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Pollywog: I'd go crazy with a 50 pack of tests! I am hoping to swing by CVS today to pick up a few more. I want to test at least one more time before I tell my immediate family tomorrow.
@ChiCalGoBee: I'm excited for you to make your appointment!! Do you really feel more nervous this second time around? Can you think of any reason why? I'm feeling a lot less nervous this second time around. I think its because I had kind of a terrible time last time, what with the IVF and all. I was bleeding and put on bedrest right around 5 weeks and felt like if I lost that pregnancy. I would never have a baby. That's actually probably true. So I'm really trying to be "normal" about this pregnancy.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@agold: I'm not sure why. Maybe because I've had so many friends who have had fertility issues/losses that I'm convinced the odds are not in my favor for an "easy" experience? I'm *so* sorry you dealt with so much trouble having your first baby . I cannot even imagine. I also think that now that I have my son and know what I'd lose (versus the first time I wasn't a mother so didn't quite "get" it?) it makes the stakes higher? Also, and this is so tiny and irrelevant I feel silly mentioning it, but this timing of this baby is just ideal for us for so many reasons that, again, it seems too good to be true. I am hoping once my son starts back to preschool on Tuesday time will start to move more quickly-too much time to think about it all now!

Finally a May board! I've been on the April one in the meantime.
Location: NYC area.
EDD: May 7, I think.
First child? #2!
Any symptoms? Nothing yet. Maybe some bloating but who knows? I didn't have a ton with my first.
Who have you told? DH and 3 friends know that have all battled IF/loss issues and were all pregnant now!
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? Nothing really. Keeping it a secret is so tough! I'm hoping I don't show super early this time since I hid it for quite some time last time.

Hi May mammas! Another second time mom joining the group!
Nor Cal
May 13, 2018
Second child
Some pimples but not much else.
Just my DH -- that's it so far.
We've been trying for a year, without any success. I was getting ready to start figuring out what was going on -- so I'm extra excited about the positive pregnancy test. I really couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the result. Just like @Chicalgobee mentioned, I also feel more nervous this time around because motherhood is real this time around -- versus the first pregnancy.

Hello, ladies! I've been on the April board, but I'm sure I'll end up bouncing between the two given my EDD.
Location: Maryland
EDD: 5/1 according to my O date, 4/26 by LMP
First child? 2nd
Any symptoms? Nausea started kicking in yesterday Last time it didn't hit me until 7 weeks -- I thought I had more time! Other than that just tired and a little gassy (burping more than usual). My acne's gotten worse too, but that may just be b/c I can't take my meds for it while pregnant.
Who have you told? My husband, HB, the bartender at my step-brother's wedding last weekend. I'm waiting for at least my first appointment next week and hopefully an ultrasound before telling more family.
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? I forgot how crappy early pregnancy can feel! And my nausea doesn't even turn into vomiting usually. Otherwise I'm settling in. Still quite happy the timing working out -- this cycle would've been our last ideal timing for a few months -- but I'm already missing all the yummy foods I'm not allowed to eat until baby's here.

To add to the weeks estimator convo: I had one left over from my last pregnancy (slightly expired but whatever) so I figured I'd might as well take it even though I'm sure on my dates, and I got an error code telling me to take another one! Who can't manage to POAS correctly?? This girl *facepalm*

How's everyone feeling? I'm 5 weeks as of yesterday so still super early. I had a fairly mild first trimester with my daughter (I guess the 3rd trimester swelling and carpal tunnel made up for that?! ) so hoping that's the same now.
