@pmrlady: I hear you! I feel like the holidays have been such a distraction and now I'm like UHH when is this going to happen? My practice will let you go to 42 weeks max...and I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. So I keep saying "At the VERY latest, I'll be in labor three weeks from tomorrow." Anything to get you through the day, right?

@mfa_lady: haha that's a good way to think about it. My OB would actually induce a few days after my due date if I request it so that I don't end up wasting my maternity leave days, so we'll see. The rational part of me says that it would probably be better for her to come after new year's so that her birthday is not always tied to the holidays, so I'm trying to focus on that instead of just being impatient

@sorrycharlie: Ha! DH had to stop me from going to Target to buy storage bins at 8:30 last night, so I hear you on the collapse/clean crazies.
@pmrlady: @mfa_lady: You are both so close! I vacillate between "wanting the baby here now" and enjoying naps. I'm pretty okay with enjoying naps so far! Soooo different with the first one though. I totally remember the build-up, anxiety, and excitement!

@pmrlady: I'm able to work right up until I have the baby, so my maternity leave will start whenever I stop showing up. And I'm with you on the holiday thing--although we're pretty used to it around here because my husband's birthday is December 23rd!
@Espion: Yes, it's such a waiting game! It's so strange to think that any day now we could leave our home and come back to a completely different reality a few days later!

So I had a few really painful, menstrual crampy-like contractions last night. No regularity, but not like any I had had before. I really thought it was going to be it, but nothing so far today. You could say I'm pretty freakin disappointed at this point. It seems like this is going to go on forever!!

@MrsHansen82: Oh, man! Sorry to hear that it wasn't the real deal! Hope things start happening for you (for real!) really soon.

@mfa_lady: I just thought about the same thing today (although it's 4 weeks till I hit 42 weeks)!
@MrsHansen82: sorry it wasn't the real thing for you! Hopefully it's a sign the things will happen soon.
Apparently my nesting instinct comes in the form of cooking/baking all the food! The past week I have been cooking up a storm and freezing lots, so the house might be a mess when baby gets here but at least we'll have plenty to eat!

@pmrlady: I had a dream last night that you had your baby. I don't know what is up with me dreaming about you guys so much

@charmed: That will be the BEST when LO arrives! I've never been so thankful for people bringing meals or freezer meals as I was in the newborn days.

@charmed: food is so crucial in the beginning! My needing finally kicked in. It pretty much only involved big garbage bags.
I totally scared the people of home depot yesterday. Our check out girl asked if i needed an ambulance. Baby girl dropped and then gave me really strong timeable contractions for the half hour we were there. I was convinced she was on her way but things showed down at night and now I'm only having contractions every half hour or so.
@Mrs. Confetti: I love that you have Bee dreams.

@oliviaoblivia: omg - what a scare. Glad you didn't drop baby #2 at Home Depot - what a mess that could have been

@oliviaoblivia: Eeek. Glad it calmed down a bit. Do you think you will make it to your c-section?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Radish: I think so. I can't be on my feet for too long without contractions, but as soon as I sit down they stop. I'm finally at the "get this baby out of me" phase. In 24 hours I'll be scrubbed in!!

@oliviaoblivia: I can't wait to hear your experience, since I'm going the repeat c-section route as well. I know I'm going to be a jumble of nerves the day before!

How is everyone feeling this week?
I go tomorrow morning for my 38 week check up, I'm going to have them check my cervix / ask about sweeping my membranes at this or the next appointment if they will - I've been having contractions every day but they never get closer together. I'm so curious if I've dilated at all, even though I know it doesn't mean anything!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@HappyBaker: I always feel terrible and have contractions and cramping in the evenings if I overdo it during the day - which I did yesterday, but I don't feel like death currently so I'm taking it as a win for today. Luckily, with all her new toys LO1 is pretty content and occupied for the time. That plus tv will hopefully make for an easy day.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Radish: Haha I totally understand the "I don't feel like death currently" as being a win! And I was SO incredibly happy that daycare was open again yesterday, I don't know how you SAHM's do it being this pregnant with a toddler - the 5 day Christmas break exhausted me and we watched Tangled 1,000 times! Hang in there.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@HappyBaker: Glad to hear that Tangled and daycare have come to the rescue!
I feel pretty good. My swollen legs and feet are killing me though. Today I'm trying to be good about taking frequent breaks to move around and stretch. I currently have only one pair of shoes that fit, and those are my boiled wool house slippers!
I'm starting to cramp at what seems like random times, but no pattern. I go to the doctor on Friday, 37 weeks, for strep test, cervix check, and non-stress test for baby.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@HappyBaker: You are in the home stretch!
@Radish: I hear you on the feeling like crap. This one is kicking my butt.
@Happygal: That happened to my sister. You can try compression hose, drink a ton of water, and limit salt. But it is hard to find anything that really helps.
I had my 36 week check yesterday. Apparently, "because she was there" my OB checked my cervix. Unnecessary since I'm having a repeat section, but okay... Not surprisingly, I'm not dilated at all. It was actually reassuring in a way, because I feel so rotten right now that I'm scaring myself with the remote possibility that I could go into labor early. (I know, I live in opposite world.) I have work scheduled all the way to the day before my repeat section date, and having to reschedule several weeks of work gives me fear.
apricot / 316 posts
@Espion: hope you make it to your csection date without incident!
@Happygal: Sorry about your swelling, hope it gets a little better when you take your breaks.
So yesterday I started having menstrual-type cramps in the evening that were coming in semi-regular intervals (10-20min). At first I started getting excited that this was it, but they did not get closer together and lasted all night and still going on today. The pain is not too bad but it's just enough to prevent me from sleeping, so I basically got no sleep last night which sucks. I had some blood-tinged discharge this morning which I guess is the mucus plug. But so far the cramps have not been escalating so I don't know...I feel like I'm stuck in limbo... I hope it either turns out to be actual labor or goes away so I can sleep properly
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@pmrlady: Ooooh, sounds like it could be early labor! My fingers are crossed for you that it turns into the real deal.
@Espion: I hear you on the work stuff. I'm working right up until baby girl comes, and I'm trying to roll through a ton of stuff at home today because I have a rotten cough I can't get rid of. I'm the kind of person who can't "let go" if things aren't done, so it's really scary to think of being worried about work stuff while in labor. Haha. Would NOT be a good combo for me.
@Happygal: I feel you on the shoe problem! I have been stretching out my two pair of Minnetonka moccasins. I probably won't even be able to wear them anymore after baby comes, because my fat feet have been in them and them only for three weeks now. Ha!
I had an appointment this morning but my practice doesn't do cervical checks until after 40 weeks, so I'm still just hanging out. Not having any signs of labor at all, except some belly problems last night, so I don't think girlfriend is in a rush to get into the world. Sleeping is pretty much not a thing for me anymore, and I am fighting a wicked cough that I REALLY hope I can kick before I go into labor. It's not helping my already sore ribs, and I don't love the idea of that combo during labor!
BUT....having the January babies start arriving is so exciting, and I'm totally loving everyone's updates. Our little ones will be here so soon!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@HappyBaker: 38 week check up for me tomorrow too!
@Happygal: sorry about the swelling Drinking a ridiculous amount of water has helped keep my swelling down. I also started taking a potassium supplement (originally started taking it for leg cramps, but it's supposed to help with water retention too).
@Espion: I'm working right up to my due date (and until baby comes if she's late!) so I totally get being scared about early labor. My sister is so excited for me to go into labor asap, and I'm like "No way, I have too much to do!!" And I run my own business, so there isn't really any one to take over for me if baby comes early
@pmrlady: eek, sounds like early labor! How exciting!!
Everything is normal here for me - baby is still all up in my ribs and no contractions/labor signs. We finally went and picked up our glider for the nursery and ordered a few things left on our registry. As far as gear goes, I just need to get my breast pump and accessories, but I can't do that until after baby is here.

@pmrlady: My childbirth teacher said the blood in the mucous is the real winner and means labor should start in the next day or two. Yay!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MrsHansen82: The real winner--I love that! Admittedly, I'm compulsively checking every time I use the restroom....but nothing yet! Glad things are moving along for some people!!

@MrsHansen82: I hope so...the cramps had stopped after this morning so I got to take a nap at least. Nothing to do but wait now
