@SleepyMonkey: she'll probably be fine! I know my DD is way more compliant when we aren't around! That being said she did wake up a lot at my parents, but they only have to deal for a few nights so it's not as crazy-making for them as it can be for us. I'd just give whoever a watching her some ideas for what to do if they cant get her to sleep, and see how it goes.

@Radish: thanks for the updated list! It's so exciting to see the "Babies" list fill up. And to see @MrsHansen82: at the top of the list (even though our babies are not coming in order
)
@Espion: I've been cooking a bunch of freezer meals too! We bought a small chest freezer a couple months ago and I love having the extra room.
@sorrycharlie: sorry you're sick! Hope it clears up for you soon.
@bhbee: what a great fortune!

@bhbee: that totally is a good sign! Keeping my fingers crossed it'll all happen soon.
@charmed: fingers crossed for you too that baby will decide it's go-time soon.
We introduced B to his little sister today. I was a little nervous how it would go but he did great (and so did she - you could tell she recognized his voice). We went with the recommendation to not have baby in our arms when he came in and he ran right up to her and was all "baby, baby - Jo-Jo". Then he saw the Duplo truck that his baby sister brought him and played with that but he always kept bringing her the little lovey that is in her hospital bed whenever she started stirring and got really upset when she threw up. So all in all a great success. Now the next hurdle will be how he'll do at home once we leave the hospital.

Trying to find ways to get baby to come out!! Doc wants to induce on my due date (Tuesday) if she's not here yet. I don't want Pitocin. Long walk is in my future for today!!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: Sending labor vibes your way. Is there any reason why your doctor doesn't want you going past your due date? I had a great induction experience last time so I'm not against them at all, but I would expect your doctor to give you a little more time unless there was a health concern.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: Hopefully you won't need any. Sometimes just cervidil does the trick!
I had pitocin with my first, and it wasn't as big a deal as I thought it would be, but then again I had no basis for comparison. I made it through most of the day with pit contractions before I caved for an epidural around 5pm-ish. (Pit started that morning at 7am.) And I am no superwoman about pain. I did end up with a c-section, but no woman in my immediate family has ever birthed without one. So I already went into it giving myself a lousy shot at vaginal birth.

@CatchAFallingStar: could you not ask to go to 41? They can't force you and I wouldn't think being 36 is a medical reason!
honeydew / 7295 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: Can you lobby to have your doctor wait? I honestly do not think AMA is a reason she could insist that you be induced. Does she have a vacation coming up or something? If you truly do not want to be induced on your due date then I would ask her to please let you go at least a week which is standard. AMA is not a medical condition. I really doubt you can do much to bring your baby here naturally. I tried damn near everything safe and still had to be induced 5 says past my due date (borderline BP and low fluid).
persimmon / 1481 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: That's so annoying, I'm all about waiting for a natural birth, but I'm also all about listening to the doctors advice, so I would be very torn in this situation.
nectarine / 2809 posts
@MrsMccarthy: I'll be making the final decision for sure. I have an appointment tomorrow and will figure it out then. I'm slightly tempted just because I want my baby here so badly, but I don't want the intervention. I'll keep you ladies posted.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: cool! As long as you know it's your choice and feel comfortable with it. Wishing you good luck and hoping you go into labor before then on your own.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: That is right, I forgot you said that before. Do you have an idea of your own personal end date where you would be more comfortable with an induction?
nectarine / 2809 posts
@Radish: I think Friday would be my end date, if it's totally up to me.
@MrsMccarthy: Thank you so much!
@MrsHansen82: Yes!! That's exactly how I feel.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: I dunno, 36 as "advanced maternal age" is skimming the line a bit. I know you have to draw a line somewhere, but my doc never talked about inducing me before she knew my intent for a repeat c-section, and I'll be 36 at the end of this month.

Okay, I know I'm being a bit of a glutton here considering we just had fun baby news yesterday/last night, but . . . We have enough people within a week either way of their due date that I demand at least one baby per day. It somehow makes the time go faster. So, let's get that labor going, ladies, and entertain me since my own child shows no interest in coming out.
Sincerely,
Will Be Pregnant Forever

@Mrs. Blue: bahaha, love this plan. Even though I secretly hate (just a little) everyone who crosses the finish line and is no longer pregnant, even if they are due well before me.

@Pumuckl: Glad the introduction went well!
@CatchAFallingStar: If you find something that actually works to start labor please let us know. Nothing I've tried so far with either pregnancy has naturally induced labor.
@Mrs. Blue: I'm trying too! Also, I laughed out loud in the bathroom this morning because I lost my mucus plug and all I could think of was "My vagina jut blew it's nose." DH actually knocked on the door and asked if I was okay!

@MrsHansen82: @MapleMoose: I think a LOT of us are trying hard right now! MapleMoose, I'm glad my wording is catching on & I missed your plus update if you posted it. I hope you follow Keepmecalmcarrie's post-plug-los- labor-starts routine and not mine!
@Mrs. Confetti: I'm so glad you said that. It's definitely a frienemie feeling for me. It's so exciting, but I'm so green with envy and slightly bitter.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I would love to help fulfill your request as I am ready for this baby to exit! (Although my to-do list would beg to differ.) Night time is tough b/c she gets so active, and as a breech baby, she's got all sorts of wild moves. My stomach is a spectacle to behold. It makes me feel very sorry for myself.
The only thing I've gotten prickly about with this entire pregnancy is everyone asking me what I'm going to do to turn her around. Truthfully, I know it's probably what I would ask someone in my shoes, but it makes me feel defensive for not being inverted all the time or trying all the recommended remedies. I did some tilts and inversions last night, and guess I'll try some more other interventions to encourage her to turn, but since my doctor gave it such low odds for actually happening, I'm not that motivated. I'm starting to feel guilty for just accepting this right away. Mother guilt has begun!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Happygal: No worries, I probably wouldn't put too much effort into turning her either if I were in your shoes. Although, I also find some comfort in the certainty of a c section birth - I'm so anxious about not knowing how it will all go down this time.

@Happygal: it's always something! Go with whatever feels right to you. Since I had to give a few people a heads up I thought things could be happening yesterday I'm about to get a ton of advice I'm sure.
@Mrs. Blue: I tried to have today's new baby! Now I am back to waiting with everyone else. I also think about your nose blowing wording pretty much every time I go, that was such an awesomely perfect description.

I'm sure this is on the boards somewhere but if anyone needs a distraction this week - target has 25$ gift card when you spend 100$ on diapers, wipes, pull-ups or formula. Any brand I think. Text save to 827438 to get coupon on phone.

@bhbee: thanks for the heads up on the Target deal!
Had my 40 week appointment today and had my first cervical check - as expected I'm not dilated at all (doctor said it's completely closed and still high/firm). Which is disappointing, but I wasn't too worried about until the doctor started talking induction already If I don't go into labor before then, I'm supposed to go to the hospital on the 18th for an induction. Not thrilled about scheduling it for 41+1, but I'll see a different doctor on Thursday and ask if we can push it back a few days if nothings happening yet.
Then they sent me for an NST and baby was not cooperating! (had a hard time getting the monitor to pick up the heartbeat, then she would move and they'd lose the heartbeat). Ended up taking an hour, but the good news is she's doing well (just being difficult )
REALLY hoping things get moving in the next few days since I'd like to avoid an induction if at all possible. Bring on the old wives tales!!

I feel awful today. Headache, my stomach is off, back cramps (up higher in my rib area, so I don't think it's anything labor related), my nose is stuffy. Ughhh, I guess I'm coming down with something when the only thing I want to come down with is labor. Boo.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I dunno, a lot of people in the"how did you feel before labor" thread said they felt pretty off. Hope you can get some rest and that it is not a cold!!
@bhbee: Oooo! Awesome. We may go stock up on some 1's. It sounds like labor is just around the corner for you!
I've got 10 more days until my section and I am officially ready now. I'm so exhausted.

@Raindrop: I was thinking of you and wondering how the ECV went today. Hope that baby turned for you!
@Mrs. Blue: boo indeed! Rest up, lady. Hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow.
@charmed: awww. You're baby is happy in there and doesn't want to leave! Hope things get movin' and shakin' for you soon. Speaking of movin' and a shakin', that kind of time with your man is supposed to help things progress......just saying!

@Happygal: Thanks for thinking of me!
So... just got back from my appointment. Here is what happened.
Found out baby is now footling breech.... not terrible... normally they don't do the rotation with that but I have a good amount of fluids. This was from the first doctor came in told me that.
The main doctor finally came in to do another u/s to check the footing breech... and since this doctor was more experienced .... she canceled my rotation because as this was happening the baby turned a bit and became transverse oblique breech. Meaning he's compeletly sideways with his head a little bit heads up near my left rib and his feel near my right hip.
They definitely don't do rotations with transverse babies because first... it makes it more difficult to push the baby around and it's likely they will turn back that position even if they were successful. Since they have so much room to be sideways in the first place. So I was sent home.
Thanks a lot baby #2!!
The doctor was nice though... there is actually nothing in my cervic... normally breech babies have their big old butts in their cervic and can't move because of that... but my baby has part of a foot in my cervic and so he can move if he wants to.
I have about a 50/50 chance he will move on his own which is the same chance this doctor gave me of having a successful ECV so she said I'm not any worst off. Haha. Well that's conforting.... *sorry being sacrastic*
I will probably schedule my csection for next week... but b/c I am in this position... they can do an ECV (so that he doesn't have time to turn back) on my c-section date and induce me ASAP to see if I can still give birth vaginally that day... that's possiblity now.
Fun times.

@Raindrop: interesting and disappointing--sorry!
I think our babies are in the same location. She's definitely not lotus style--head up high to my left, one foot down on the right, one by her head. Do you find it uncomfortable? I do. She'll move and her butt will push the right side of my stomach waaaaaay up high. Like, you could roll a toy car down it.
