@Mrs. Blue: sending you hugs! Just to reiterate others there's still a lot of time for things to change. I'm pretty sure I went 0-60 with LO when that labor started (I was 39w5d). I hope the same happens for you this week!!

I'm feeling a little hopeful (but also trying not to get my hopes up too much) - after yesterday's pump and orgasm combo (but not simultaneously, not that talented!) I noticed a lot more pressure and I'm pretty sure my mucus plug has been coming out in pieces (sorry tmi). This morning I took LO (who weighs 35 pounds) to a big indoor tree fort and carried her up stairs and such. Whatever it takes! I'm trying to be ok with just having more time with her too.

Also a random but semi gross tip that helped me this time so much - either bring flushable wipes or just a pack of baby wipes and put it in the bathroom of your recovery room at the hospital. That way when you have to poop the first time you aren't trying to clean up with the awful hospital toilet paper!

@Happygal: Did they offer an ECV? I have mine scheduled for Monday... if it fails then I have to sechedule a c-section the week after. Good luck to us both!
One of my co-workers had a breech kid and when she went in for her c-section the baby turned that morning and so they induced labor right away before the baby changed her mind and she was able to have a vaginal birth... so kids can do crazy things!!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Mrs. Blue: You doctor sounds really nice!! I would go with what makes you the most comfortable.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Raindrop: my OB is not a fan of the ECV, and I was on the fence about it. I do hope it does the trick for you though! How is your baby presenting? I'm not sure what to call this baby with one foot up, one foot down.......since this isn't the first time she's done flips, I feel like there's a good chance she would just flip back again. I'll be thinking of you on Monday!
That was one of the first questions I asked--if they'll check to see her position before the c-section. That would be wild to be all mentally prepared for a c-section and then be induced for labor.....I don't know if my brain/emotions could handle that! Packing and getting all prepared for a c-section versus preparing for what could be a long labor seem like two very different things!

@Mrs. Blue: aw, sorry you haven't made much progress. but i don't think that means anything! i think the post that you made on the main board has a lot of ladies that were basically at 0 and went into labor the next day.
@bhbee: my mom said that when she was pregnant with my brother and close to her due date, she helped my dad lift dry wall and she said it worked! haha.
@HappyBaker: great tip! the hospital provided the wipes for the baby that we had to wet with water, so i think i may have used those.
went to the dr today. she said i was 3cm dilated and i looked back at my pregnancy with #1 and i was the same on the exact same date (38w2d). i delivered at 39w2, so maybe by next week, she'll be here. i'm still sick as a dog, and my dr told me i really need to get better so that i can be in tip top shape for L&D. ah. this is the neverending cold, i've been sick for over a week.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Ugh! Sending all the healthy vibes I can. I know exactly how you feel. I'm just now on the tail end of a nasty cold and cough, and it went on for 2 weeks!. I hope I kick the cough before any incisions!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Happygal: I am pretty sure he is complete breech... aka fetal position just head up. He head sticks out of my tummy... his head mostly hangs out on near my left rib and his feet stay near my right hip.
This is my second kid so I have some room and my doctor checked if I had enough fluid to process with the ECV because that's a big deal ... and it turns out I have to big pockets of fluid for them to use to help turn this stubborn kid.
My case is a bit different from yours because this kid has been breeched since 28 weeks (I had a u/s to see if my placenta previa resolved) and he has never turned head down (well he might have and turned back head up for every appointment.... haha)
Thanks for the well wishes!! We will see... I have come to accept that I might have a c-section.
edit : My OB said they always check to see if the kid is still head right up to the c-section. I think most places want to support vaginal births if they can.

@SleepyMonkey: I hope you feel better soon!!! Did your doc give you any suggestions of getting well faster? I feel like I stay sick longer when I'm pregnant so when DH even remotely stiffles ... I send him to guess room to sleep so I don't catch... I'm parnoid!!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Espion: ah! i hope you are healthy soon too! this really is the season to be sick, i know so many people that have bad colds (but fortunately no flu). my DH and LO are both sick too. is your LO sick too?
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Raindrop: yes, she said to really take it easy...and i took that to mean, get your DH to do everything she said that if i'm not feeling better by the end of the weekend, she is going to start me on tamiflu, even though we both agreed i don't have the flu.

I don't want to jinx it by posting to the labor watch thread, but I had some blood tinged mucous this morning (TMI, sorry!) and I'm having some noticeable, painful back cramps in addition to the contractions I've felt over the past few days. They contractions don't hurt yet, but they're unrelated to physical activity, so I'm not sure they're BH. I think this maybe possibly could be it!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@Mrs. Blue: glad your doctor is giving you options and time to make a decision!
@HappyBaker: great tip! I bought flushable wipes for home, but I'll have to stick some in my bag.
@bhbee: @keepcalmcarrie: hope this means things are starting for both of you!
Today is my due date, and no signs that baby is making an appearance any time soon We'll see what the doctor says on Monday, but I really feel like I have a while. I'm trying to stay patient and not rush things - mostly because based on when I ovulated my due date would be January 15 (not that it makes a huge difference). But I'm getting anxious to meet our little girl!

@keepcalmcarrie: that sounds real to me! Sending you good labor vibes and hope to hear more news soon!
@charmed: hope she shows up this week!

@keepcalmcarrie: Fingers crossed!
I was just coming on here to ask if anyone had been losing their mucus plug, and then saw keepmecalmcarrie's post. I went to the restroom first thing this morning and told DH, "My vagina jut blew it's nose." Poor guy somehow thought that meant my water broke and it was go time! I know you can start losing your mucus plug a long time before labor starts, but I'm still taking this as encouragement. No blood, just a little brown tinge on part of it. Sorry, that so gross. Has anyone else been loosing some mucus plug? I have no idea how much is in there so I don't know if it was part or all of it.
persimmon / 1096 posts
@Mrs. Blue: That actually sounds exactly like what I saw - when I said "blood tinged," I meant pinkish/brownish (yeah, it's gross, but we're all experiencing this stuff together, so there's no shame, haha)
These contractions definitely feel like the early ones did during my first labor, but they are very unevenly spaced. They're a little painful, but the pain is more in my back coming in waves. I wouldn't say I'm in labor yet, but this feels a lot more real than what's been happening the past few weeks! I hope things are getting going for you too, @Mrs. Blue: and you too @charmed:. Wouldn't it be fun to have 3 (or more!) January babies arrive over the weekend?
nectarine / 2242 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: so exciting!
!@Mrs. Blue: awesome! that sounds just like how mine was - like how cervical mucus was but really sticky / goopy too. Blowing it's nose is a perfect way to describe it!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: eek! So excited for you! I'm not feeling much other than my general lower back ache, so I'm not getting excited for myself (though I'm willing to be proven wrong!). BUT, I'm really hoping you can keep us all excited this weekend by bringing out next baby into the world! Keep us posted.

@Mrs. Blue: If I remember correctly, you live in TX? My husband is a Cowboys fan, and he's hoping I'm in labor either before or after tomorrow's game. I'm like, um, I'll see what I can do...
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@SleepyMonkey: The little stinker never acted very sick (just snotty like the cutest/not cute slimy snail ever), but his appetite has taken a huge nose dive.
@keepcalmcarrie: Sounds like an "in progress"!!!
@Mrs. Blue: I'm crossing my fingers that you are our next "in progress"!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: Yes, we are in Texas, and your husband sounds like mine! The boys were born in March, and I told him if he tried to watch March Madness while I was in labor that I was going to cut him. This time, he's casually mentioned that if I could avoid Sunday afternoons for a while, that would be great for him. Sure, honey, I'll see what I can do about that...

@keepcalmcarrie: and @Mrs. Blue: I'm rooting for you two as the next ones to go into labor!!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Mrs. Blue: @keepcalmcarrie: that sounds really promissing! Sending you good labor thoughts.
I never had a bloddy show or a noticeable loss of the mucus plug with either of my deliveries. So you just never know.

@Mrs. Blue: definitely a good sign! I've been losing pieces since about thurs night and I'm a little disturbed how it keeps coming! But I tell myself that means something is happening even though I'm not having any serious contractions. I'm feeling like even if I go to Fridays induction I won't be starting from scratch. And I gave in and pumped again in case it might help!

Wow, we could have 9 or more babies by the end of next week!
How is everyone at the end of the month doing? I spent most of today chopping of meat and veggies for freezer meals. Then I cleaned out the fridge of unused cranberries and freezer bananas and made cranberry/oatmeal muffin bars, banana chocolate chip bread, and pumpkin bread to freeze for breakfasts.
All in an effort to actively avoid the stuff I really need to do!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Espion: I made a couple freezer meals too! Chicken soup, tacos, shredded bbq chicken and some sauce. I've been slowly checking off my cleaning to do list.
I caught My two year olds cold. Sob. I was half hoping I would go into labor last week when she was fresh and wild (right before she got sick, of course) so that it wouldn't be as rough being away from her.
Now I'm sick, DH is watching the playoffs at his parents so O and I had a girls night. She was SO good - we played, had dinner, watched a movie in my bed, she showered and went to bed so easily.
Now I'm super emotional again I haven't been away from her longer than a day at work (and that was once a week last winter) and everything is going to change so much!!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@sorrycharlie: Ahh, it's going to be okay, friend. I'm worried and emotional about the boys being so young and having so much to adjust to, but kids are so resilient! It will probably be harder on us than them!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@sorrycharlie: Sorry your are sick too. I cannot believe how sick I am, I don't think I've been this ill in like 10+ years! Hopefully everyone on this board that has a monstrous cold will recover before the baby comes.
@Espion: I haven't done anything in terms of meal planning! We have a small freezer but we also have access to tons of delivery/take out.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@sorrycharlie: I think our DD's are around the same age (28 months) and so far mine has handled the transition amazingly so I hope the same happens for you! We have only left her overnight a couple of times in the past, and while we were in the hospital she stayed with my parents. She seriously had the time of her life and was SO spoiled by them, she loved it! Now that we've been home a couple of days (today was our first full day since we still have daycare) - I've been really amazed how she has just accepted this new baby / life. Also watching her love him already is the sweetest thing in the world.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@sorrycharlie: Bleh! I hope you get better quickly! This viral/cold thing has been really making the rounds.
@SleepyMonkey: We didn't last time, because we moved when E was 5 weeks old. But I'm definitely taking advantage of our chest freezer this time! (And really it is because the "what do you want for dinner?" is one of my least favorite conversations ever! )
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Espion: Haha yes, I hate having that discussion as well! I can't wait until we eventually have enough space for a chest freezer..
nectarine / 2079 posts
@sorrycharlie: @SleepyMonkey: i hope y'all recover quickly and well before baby day.
@sorrycharlie: I can't wait for A to meet the baby and the whole hospital away period she will just have to deal. In my mind her life will only change for the better.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Radish: @sorrycharlie: @HappyBaker: talk to me about leaving LO#1 overnight while you are at the hospital. I keep telling my husband that he has to go home so he can sleep with my DD (yes yes we cosleep) or she is going to be an absolute terror for whoever is watching her (my parents or my brother). Am I being too paranoid about it? Will she be OK? She goes to sleep by herself for our nanny...my husband just thinks she is manipulating us and will be fine without us there at night. We have never left her overnight before without one of us there. This is my biggest worry right now...
nectarine / 2079 posts
@SleepyMonkey: if my mom is here lo will have no problems. If i go into labor early then we have a friend for overnight who lo will meet for the first time tomorrow. Even if it upsets her a little I'm not that concerned because she's a pretty flexible kid and I have no problem with her being bribed with whatever to keep her happy.

Hi all - sorry to fall off the planet a bit again.... thought I'd rejoin by playing along....
How far along? 38w2d
Next appt: Tuesday
Name, if you have one/are sharing: Narrowed to 5, I still have a fave I'm lobbying for - hoping to drop the subject for a while in hopes that DH will come around
What do you have left to do: I've been on a major nesting spree. Still need to assemble the swing and pick up the mini-crib from a friend, and you know, make some semblance of an effort to maybe decorate the nursery, but you know...whatever...
Trying any Old Wives' Tales: DH has one last business trip Monday night, and once he is back late Tuesday, I can finally start with the old wives stuff. Plans included DTD, evening primrose oil, pineapple, dates and spicy food, long walks and squats, maybe pumping if I can muster the willpower, reflexology pedicure or massage maybe? Will definitely depend on how overdue I go.
Delivery type/plans: Vaginal, no meds - but definitely not going in hoping for a medal or anything.
Progress, if you know: A couple weeks ago, I was checked at a 1. Not getting more checks til a week from Tues, since last time I walked around at a 3 for a month.
Plan for other LOs: Many many contingencies - neighbors if overnight, preschool if weekday, friends if weekend, and eventually my parents once they show up from 6 hours away.
How you're feeling overall: Trying to mentally prepare myself for another 2 week late baby, so that anything sooner is a bonus. Definitely uncomfortable and ready to be done, but whateverrrrrrrrrrr
